Wasn't she trying to be good to her little donkey? What was wrong with her gifts that it killed him? What was wrong with her that SHE killed him? She couldn't find an answer. She gave in to half-awake, exhausted crying.
Finally, after what could be an hour or a minute, the grief subsided enough for Rarity to get up. She approached the corpse as it was growing colder. There was something...distressingly beautiful and statuesque in its stillness, as if by extinguishing him Rarity achieved the aim of making Donny into something not brutish. The pony stared, disgusted at herself. She moved to the donkey's face, and as she was closing his eyes she was pondering the meaning of his final expression. Was it awe? Fear? Abandon? Rarity stroked the dead donkey's cheek, only to withdraw her hoof in disgust – the warmth Donny had, the heat that gave him this lively glow, disappeared, replaced with chilling coldness. Rarity wept again as the realisation of what wonderful foal she broke struck her. Now he was unable to oppose her. His body belonged entirely to her. Wasn't that what she wanted from the beginning?

A few hours later, Rarity was sitting downstairs, wrapped tightly in her warmest dressing-gown, holding between her hooves a cup of hot coffee. She stared blankly at the late afternoon sun over the horizon. She didn't care for anything. She had things to reconsider about herself, and an entire night to ponder. Sweetie Belle was on a sleepover. Matilda cleaned up the mess and left just a few minutes ago. At least this worked just as Rarity wanted, she knew Matilda was considering „special services,” even if they caused two casualties so far, a fair price for turning a blind eye to her „activities.” „Be a donkey”, „be rich enough to be respected” and „have a business you can admit having” was a pick-two deal. But this was of little import to Rarity right now. She was torn between self-reproach and self-pity.
The silent, mournful pondering wasn't interrupted by the sound of door opening, only an „um. Hello Rarity...I hope you don't mind...” finally managed to break her out of stupor. In front of her was standing Fluttershy. „Um. I was walking nearby and I saw...” she started, but Rarity interrupted her.
„What do you want” said the snow-white pony.
„I was just, um...”
„I'm really not in the mood for witnessing you formulate a thought as we are talking,” stated Rarity frigidly and returned to staring at the sun.
„But Rarity...this is imp-”
„Was I unclear, Fluttershy? Get out. I would like to be l e f t a l o n e.”
The utter, cold fury of the last statement made Fluttershy whimper and back away, but only for a moment. Then she furrowed her brow, made a step forward and with a fiery, angry voice that was about as close as Fluttershy could get to shouting, she responded:
„Rarity! What are you thinking! I saw Matilda with those plastic bags, leaving your house! What's the meaning of this?! I came here to cheer you up because of those horrible rumours about you, and you do strange things and act like the coldest, most evil pony I ever knew! What is wrong with you, Rarity?!”
Rarity went stiff for a second upon hearing this, but then she sighed, put away her coffee, and moved closely to Fluttershy, her very gaze, weary, bitter and icy making the pegasus lose a bit of her composure.
„And why would you care? You're so spineless you must ask me for confirmation when you saw Matilda cleaning up my mess? Would you tell anyone if I told you what I do to those foals? No, you wouldn't.” Fluttershy's anger subsided under Rarity's dry, emotionless voice, making room for fear. Then, the white pony swung at the pegasus with her front hoof. The reaction was immediate, Fluttershy collapsed on the floor, whimpering and covering her head.
„See? I didn't even touch you. I don't know if it's since I came back from Canterlot, or if it was always like this. But you would obey whatever I told you to do, only out of fear of pain that you know I can cause.” Rarity leaned to the still trembling yellow pegasus, feeling that Fluttershy's fear will let her get away with anything, even a monologue. „You would commit the filthiest, nastiest acts upon yourself...just to make sure I will not hurt you even worse, wouldn't you? On my slightest whim, you would become my most devoted slave, letting me torment you every night, no, begging to be used for my own pleasure...am I right?” Fluttershy's utter terror was a sufficient answer. „I thought so. I could have you anywhere, anytime, with no objection...” Rarity paused. THIS WAS IT. She did not feel aroused. At all. And her desires with Donny were similar to the threats she now gave Fluttershy. She finally realised. Rarity could take a pony and fashion them into a temple to herself if she wanted, but it was the infidel's resistance and not a convert's devotion that made her juices flow. And this one here, she was practically born into the faith. Her offerings were worthless. „Go away Fluttershy. You know what will happen if you tell anyp0ny.”
Rarity couldn't bother with such trivial, pathethic creatures right now, not after her epiphany. She had a night to spend planning new conquests.
