Chapter 2: Blood is Thicker than Pain.
Chapter Two: Blood runs thicker than Pain. Night Studies - Equestrian history 101.
Night had fallen and the slumbering Stallion would slowly stir. Giggles and chitters, screams and squeaks could be
heard from outside. Groaning Dreamer would make a small cup of coffee before flinging the door open and calling out.
"Ms. Gazer! Ms. Day! If you two are done flinging eachother into the skys please get in here!" He called out.
Two smaller figures dancing in the sky would swing around eachother. Sometimes butting heads, at others flinging the
other into clouds with a soft pomf.
It felt like hours to Dreamer whom had just woken up. His energy levels where no where near as high as the two playing
currently. So he watched and waited for one of them to tire, which was normally the amber pegasus Stormy Day. Reaching into
his pocket the stallion pulled out a small pocket watch. Glancing at it quickly he'd give a loud whistle. "Girls lets go!"
As he called the amber pegasai was the first to land and in the classroom, shortly followed by a sky blue bat pony.
The two had their ears down in fear of their teacher's wrath from the little yelling he did to get their attention.
As they sat the stallion moved to take his own seat. "Ms. Day, do you need a coffee?" He'd ask with a tilted head.
These girls where not fillies like the day class, they where more defined and had obtained their cutie marks.
The pegasus shook her head as she moved back to give her body some resting space. "No thank you Mister Dreamer." Stormy
spoke. Her mannorisems were always polite around the older generation. The mare shot a dirty look to her friend who was
in a fit of giggles and flexes in her seat. "So what are we studying today teach?" Stormy asked with a inquisitive look on
her face.
The stallion cleared his throat broadly to silence the little bat giggling her buttox off. "Well, you two seem to be the
only ones to show. So I think we should talk about your family line Ms. Day." He spoke lightly as he pulled out two fresh
text books and placed them on the desks in front of the two. "Now I know you'll probably object, but this needs to be known."
Squeaking lightly at the clearing of the throat the bat held still instantly. Wings spread as if ready for take off.
"Um... Stormy's family is important?" She'd ask with a tilted head. Her voice light and bouncy compared to the near
monotone of her friend.
Nodding lightly Dreamer went on. "Yes Ms. Gazer, very important actually. Due to one pony, which was a odd genetic mutation
Due to this mutation though we now have Stormy, her brother, and her younger sister. To add to that we have freedom." Dreamer
spoke with soft words to try and ease Stormy into allowing the topic.
The amber pegasai just waved a hoof. As if to say go on, while she placed the text book over her head to hide from
Star Gazer's prying gaze. "Yeah, yeah, sooooo important... we had freedom with the royals too, look where that got us!"
She'd cough lightly to try to down-play the words.
Shaking his head the stallion moved to sit behind the his desk. Leaning in to look at his two students. "Hm, thank you
for your imput Stormy, but no we didn't. What we had during the ruling of the alicorns was the furthest thing from freedom."
Dreamer spoke. Opening his own text book to refresh his memory. "So, you both remember Mrs. Winds right?" He'd ask wondering
if they needed a refresher.
Giving a quick nod the girls raised their hooves and started reciting together. "Roaring Winds was the savior of the bridge.
Standing tall next to the all mighty Heaven Song and the brawny Iron Edge!" They'd call out. Giving Dreamer a slight twinge
of the ear. Not really liking the two working this well together.
Giving a cough the stallion nodded. "Yes, actually that is completely correct. This is where it gets interesting." taking
a breath and relaxing Dreamer leaned back into a plush chair. "Mrs. Winds is one of the founding members of Stormy's family.
Giving birth to three Earth pony stallions Roaring lived a very full life considering the time she lived in." He spoke
leaning into his book again. "Though listen to that statement, she gave birth to earth ponies. Due to most flyers being
sent to active duty the lonesome Roaring Winds found a mate. In a young colt by the name of.." He'd get cut off by Star's
consistant squeaking and chittering.
The young bat was bouncing in her seat at the reveal. "Oh my god STORMY! Your like, royalty!" She'd giggle loudly.
This would soon end as a amber hoof lifted and hurled a book into the bat's face. Taking a moment to realize fact she'd
just been hit in the face Star fell silent. Clearly fighting off the tears.
Stormy sighed and lifted her head. "Thistle Forge, a stallion whom knocked up my great, great grandmother and left for war.
Woo I'm so excited to hear about this. Tell me teacher how did he help the war efforts?" She'd ask witha tilted head.
Dreamer smiled and cracked his neck. Taking another sip of his coffee while the two had their antic. "Forge was a great,
great man. He alone supplied the allied forces with armor and weaponry during the Overmare's reign. He also fought through
hordes of changelings with a small assault team and fought with the Overmare herself." He spoke continuing on.
"You may see him only as the man who ran, but if it wasn't for his running we would have far less land than we do now."
The two mares rolled their eyes at the practicly gaggling Teacher. "He was a hero much like his wife, and his best friend.
When the Overmare died and the uprising took place his team was the first on the ground. Slicing up any female changelings
that had potential to become the next overmare." Dreamer spoke. His words fast and simple as the coffee hit his system.
Star raised a hoof. "W... Wait are you saying that a Overmare can be remade?" She'd ask with a tilted head.
Dreamer nodded and stretched. "Oh yes, see every changeling female, even those with heavily deluded bloodlines has the
chance to become a Overmare. Only down side to a Overmare coming now is our magic and abilities. Overmare's strength is in
numbers, much like that of a typical changeling. With it being so long ago that most Changelings don't even know what it's
like to be part of a Hive. There might still be some kicking about, but that would be extremely rare."
The hour passed rather quickly as Dreamer praddled on about how difficult it would be for a Overmare to come back.
With the windows open the small school house was nice and cool causing the two students to look outside and watch the night,
as they listened of course. Coughing loudly Stormy would look up at Dreamer. "Lets get back on Topic Teach."
The stallion blushed as he nodded. "Ah right we where talking about your family line. I'm very sorry." He'd start to pace
Walking between the two Dreamer had a massive grin on his face. "So, as stated before. Roaring Winds birthed three earth
stallions. Two of those stallions were completely passive to the cause of the fight. They simply didn't care. However
the third stallion by the grandious title of 'General, Steel Striker' led much of the charge to end all aggression.
Doing everything in his power Steel befriended what Changelings he could to try to prevent the collapse of the great crystal
bridge. Sadly this failed and flung our lands into a heavy depression. Steel didn't have any children before he died on the
bridge. He did though leave his brothers to carry on the line." He spoke softly and looked over to Star whom had been zoning
out for the ladder half of the lecture. "Ms. Gazer are you okay?" He'd ask with a tilted head. Moving closer to the mare.
Star didn't respond. Her eyes totally focused on the outdoors. Getting up and dashing out she'd quickly disappear into the
night. Sighing the small buzzer on the desk rang. "Go get her Stormy, your done. Thank you for letting me talk." Dreamer spoke.
This was all the encouragement she needed. "Yeah, whatever... I'll have the bat and myself read through the next two chapters."
Stormy spoke before darting off. The sheer speed of the pegasus's take off sent most of the decore in the room flying.
Leaving Dreamer in the room, alone and puzzled by the sudden change in Star's behavior.
