Chapter One: Celestia’s Mistake
“Sister, please just talk to me!” She cried.
Celestia pounded on the door, tears flying out of her eyes and down her cheeks.
Luna’s replies were choked, she could barely understand the. “I do not wish to speak!” that came.
She slammed her head on the door, her horn almost bending a little from the sheer force of her thrust.
Ouch. She thought with a grimace.
“Luna, why must we go through this again? You know I love you. I’ve always loved you.” She could hear her own desperation and self-loathing in her voice.
The alicorn’s ears lowered ever slightly as her sister’s words were shouted in the alicorn voice through the black door.
“**But they don’t love me!!”
The solution was simple, really. Celestia was surprised she hadn’t thought of it before. She’d just give Luna the chance to run a school.
She smiled at herself as she pushed her stubborn sister with her magic out of her bedroom after a surprisingly short hour long conversation. Usually these near dusk spills took longer.
Luna groaned as Celestia gave her the idea.
“But what if they don’t-”
Celestia put up a hoof. “Stop, stop it right now. I’m sick and tired of this...this self-deprecation! You know your subjects adore you! You should see some of the polls they take in those magazines!”
“The magazines for filles…” Luna mumbled.
Celestia pretended to ignore her as she marched her sister into the throne room. Luna’s mood wasn’t helped by the hallways lined with the stained glass memorials of her sister's many triumphs.
Celestia ignored the whimpering protests of Luna as she picked up her sister with magic and plopped her on her throne. She smiled brightly as her sister glared.
“It won’t work.” Luna said.
Celestia rolled her eyes and grinned. “Oh, ye of little faith.”
Luna sighed in defeat and nodded, her horn spelling up a parchment and quill.
“What shall I say?” She asked.
Celestia sighed. “Just...say what I told you. That you're going to open a school.”
“That’s all I have to say though, nothing else?”
Her sister’s glare was ice.
“Alright!”
She wrote what she thought was suitable, she wasn’t sure on all the details, so Celestia had to of course, give her opinions.
“May I go now?” She asked politely, as she held up the finished product.
Celestia smirked. “Yes, you may. It looks good. I’ll even send it myself, with your stamp on it.”
Luna beamed.
Canterlot was now a buzz with news as the proclamation spread on every post-sign. Mares and fillies alike were clamouring to get all the information on such a big announcement.
Becoming the Princess of the Night’s pupil didn’t happen every day after all!
Midnight sighed as she pushed her way through the crowd. She hated crowds. Somepony stepped on the heel of her hoof and she winced; but she finally got to the bulletin board.
The message was pretty cut and clear, and was obviously not written by Luna herself.
~ATTENTION CITIZENS OF EQUESTRIA~
The glorious, and gracious, Princess of the Night is going to open her own school!! Come one and all to see if you have the magical abilities to be a pupil of a Princess!

Midnight smiled a bit to herself, who’d’ve thought the most solitary of the four Princesses would want to open up a school?
It must be a joke, yes that’s probably right. She thought.
Midnight could usually talk some sense into things that didn’t make any sense.
She walked out of the crowd, shivering from all the physical contact.
Ponies were still crowding and she almost got crushed, but eventually she made it back to her shop, and her home.
The shop was quiet, she didn’t expect to get any business today, with the ‘announcement’ that was posted.
She’d thought at least some ponies would have some common sense.
Midnight sighed and plopped her head on the counter, the only thing wrong with being a business pony, was the ponies. She would like to send mail orders, but they took too much time and effort and the mail pony was very odd.
She rolled a thimble in her hooves as the time on her grandfather clock struck, it’s bonging ring mixing with the door’s own bell.
Midnight barely noticed as a bright yellow hoof pounded down on her counter. When it did she feinted a startled look, but failed.
“MIDNIGHT!” Lemon Wedge screeched, her bright blue eyes almost popping out of her head.
“Hi, Lemon.” She muttered. “Welcome to Twinkling Lights, where every accessory twinkles like a star.”
Midnight blinked in boredom as she said her slogan.
“Did you hear the news!?” She asked, her ever present smile growing about ten inches at the word ‘news’.
Midnight shrugged. “I guess so.” She said.
Lemon’s jaw dropped at her friend’s lackluster response, she had thought everypony would be super, duper excited!
It wasn’t like she wasn’t used to this from Midnight, but with her being so enthralled with magic she’d thought she would have at least be interested!
“No, no, NO!! Midnight Twinkle, you will NOT squander away this opportunity! You will march right up to that castle and DEMAND to get entrance to that school! You were born for this!! I mean, hello!? Have you seen your own cutie-mark!?”
Lemon panted as she pointed, somewhat rudely, to her friend’s behind. Midnight’s blank expression infuriated Lemon as she simply said,
“Yeah, it’s a moon? So?”
Lemon wanted to scream at her. It was pointless. Absolutely pointless.
She didn’t however, she simply took a breath and calmed herself. She smoothed down her baby blue mane with her hoof and gave Midnight one of her best ‘looks’ the ones that could melt a pony with a couple of seconds.
Midnight looked up and blinked as she saw the ‘look’ Lemon’s giant eyes got even bigger somehow, she had no idea how she did it.
Midnight rolled her eyes as she rolled the thimble again, resisting the ‘look’ as she usually did.
Lemon groaned and face-hooved, Midnight was a tough cookie to crack.
“How much am I gonna have to buy?” She asked. Midnight, of course perked up at her question.
Midnight grinned as she trotted with Lemon, the mare was now wearing her one of a kind necklace she designed off the colors of Princess Celestia’s mane.
The pink, blue and turquoise gems actually looked very good with her colour scheme, though Midnight would never admit it to her.
Lemon was just happy that Midnight seemed happy. The two of them trotted down to the castle, where the tests for the new school was going to be held. Midnight sighed as she saw the line, the line was about five-hundred ponies long and Midnight groaned.
Lemon chuckled.
“Oh, come on, Midnight, it’s not too bad.” She said with a smirk.
“We’ll just have to wait...for like, an hour.”
Midnight tried to make her eye stop twitching.
Luna sighed as she looked at all of the applications, most of them were complete trash. Were ponies really so ignorant in magic studies nowadays?
She shook her head and smiled as she picked up one of the applications, the pony here was a stellar student, seemingly excelling at all her various studies.
Celestia looked over her shoulder and she grinned. “She looks like a good candidate.” She smiled.
Luna only nodded in agreement. Celestia grinned, it even said the pony in question never even went out for her recesses as a filly, she had no idea why she would put that in her application, but it didn’t seem to bother Luna who grinned and put her recommendation on the form.
Celestia smiled proudly, Luna had just chosen her first student.
Midnight yawned as she walked to her mailbox.
The sleep still stuck to her eyes and she wiped them as she opened the box, almost praying to Celestia that there wouldn’t be any party invites from Lemon or that crazy pink party pony.
There was only one letter in the mail, well two but she ignored the second one as she opened the fancier letter.

You have been accepted into Luna’s School for Gifted Unicorns!! School starts in September, a meet and greet will be scheduled and all students are expected to attend.

Midnight’s jaw dropped. Never mind the fact that she got accepted to the school she didn’t really want to go to in the first place, but there was a meet and greet!
Midnight almost screamed as she picked up the letter, with her magic and rushed back into her building.
She didn’t even stop to check the letter that flipped over to say four words.
HELP ME MIDNIGHT!! PLEASE!
