Chapter 6.5 - Father of Dragons

A long time ago, in a gal… wait no sorry wrong fandom…

Long ago, long before the rise of Equestria. .. even longer since Alicorns took their rightful place as guardians against the chaos, resided the Rangers. An ancient race of immortals whom not only incredibly intelligent but with the physical strength to back it up, they helped form Equis… helped who you ask? I'm not going to tell you… at least not yet anyway.

So anyway, coexisting with the Rangers were the young race of Alicorns, ranging at several hundred thousand strong, the Eternal Dragons, power creatures that could warp reality. The Dire, a nomadic race of warriors so fearsome that they hunted in order to keep their numbers low and lastly were the Chaos beings, creatures that rivaled the Rangers in intellect and magic but not strength.

The world was in a state that could only be called the calm before the storm, the Chaos Beings and The Dire were preparing to take the world from the Rangers and Alicorns while the Eternal Dragons sat on the sidelines, refusing to take sides.

After centuries of stalemates, both sides equally matched, both sides pleaded with the Eternal Dragons to aid them in the war. Seeing the chance to mold the world in their image without much resistance, majority of the Dragons attacked both sides, crippling them while the remaining Dragons brought those that survived together to repel the Dragons.

This event soon caused an aftershock which brought devastation to the entire planet. The Eternal Dragons secret to immortality was a vast amount of eggs that were lain before the dawn of the world by a true god, when a Dragon was slain, they were reborn through the eggs so the inhabitants fighting the Dragon, now known as the warriors of Harmony, did was destroy the eggs, with help from the Dragons allied with them.

This move single handedly crippled the Eternal Dragons enough for them to be slain, unfortunately this move also caused the Mother of the Eternal Dragons to die of grief from the lose of her eggs… and thus the world was at peace for the first time in an eternity, The Dire was given a realm named ‘Tartarus’ where they could fight all they pleased, the remaining Chaos Beings and Alicorns, who were not distorted by the Eternal Dragons (causing hundreds of new mortal races to appear) took up the mantel of ruling the world. The remaining Rangers settled to assist when they were needed while the five remaining Dragons (who weren't distorted also) chose to use their powers to rebuild the world for example, twin Dragoness’ created a new Sun and Moon as the previous had been destroyed.

But before you ask, the death of the Mother of The Eternal Dragons was the aftershock the brought devastation oh no… it was when her mate discovered his mate slain, his Dragonlings and eggs slaughtered. The rage he felt ripped open the sky, all those who saw him or heard his mighty roar coward in fear the Dragon’s rage distorted the earth, boiled the ocean and burnt the sky.

The majority of the Warriors of Harmony, feeling headstrong after defeating the Eternal Dragons, charged at the God… few returned from the thousands that attacked and even fewer returned sane for this was not a simple Dragon, no, This was the Father of the Dragons, The Void Dragon.

The Void Dragon continued his onslaught for several days until his remaining Children tricked him and imprisoned him in what they thought was an inescapable prison while they divided what power they stole from him among themselves. Now I know what you're thinking, why not simply kill Manus? Well for one, they loved him as he was their father, Two they understood the reason for his rage… and Three, he was a true Immortal and they had no way to slay him, only weaken him.

There he lay trapped in his prison for eons, his rage and hatred growing while his love for his children diminished… all he wanted was to find and kill them and the remaining Rangers. His prison’s defenses were designed to reflect and inhibit the Father’s power, it grew weak against external forces so when a misguided grenade landed on top of one of the weakened glyphs… the Dragon saw his chance and forced his magic through the small crack before destroying the remaining glyphs from the outside, freeing himself but also draining what little magic he had left, leaving him weak enough for a mortal to attempt sever his spinal cord with a lance.
