It was a brilliant sunny day in Ponyville. Everypony was in a terrific mood. A smile was plastered on their faces. What made it better was that Princess Celestia AND Princess Luna were coming to the town! Twilight had been running amok, making sure every little thing was in order. She levitated a clipboard next to her, checking off completed things. “Streamers...check. Banners...check. Confetti...check.”
After making sure everything outside was perfect, she ran into Sugarcube Corner and darted straight into the kitchen. Pinkie Pie was baking up a storm. “How we doing on those pastries?” asked Twilight, a bead of sweat running down the side of her head. Pinkie, panting, turned to her and said, “Already got over 200 cupcakes and cakes and cookies done.” Twilight checked off the pastries on her clipboard. “Good. Drinks?” she asked. The pink pony nodded, smiling. Twilight checked off drinks also. “Awesome. Now...to the spa..”
The purple unicorn fled from the bakery and raced down the street. She finally reached the spa and dashed inside, where she met Aloe and Lotus. “Everything’s been double-checked? No broken pipes or anything like that?” she asked. The two ponies shook their heads happily. Twilight smiled and checked off the spa.
She then stepped outside. “Good, everything’s perfect.” she said. She made the clipboard disappear and started to pace back and forth anxiously. She counted down the minutes.
Just then, she heard the sound of the royal horns. She gasped as she saw Princess Celestia and Princess Luna descend to the ground in the royal carriage. The carriage slowed before coming to a complete stop. The two alicorns stepped out of the carriage. Everypony gathered round and bowed in respect. “Hello everypony.” said Princess Celestia.
Twilight walked over to the two alicorns. “Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student. I see you’re doing good.” complemented Celestia. Twilight smiled. “Anyone up for a massage?” she asked.

Lotus carefully rubbed Celestia’s back. “Any muscles that need to be tended to?” she asked the alicorn. “No, everything is fine.” answered Celestia. Lotus nodded and continued to knead the princess’s flesh and muscle. Her hooves worked expertly, knowing where every muscle was and how to massage it. She pressed both hooves down firmly and slowly slid them all the way down Celestia’s back. Suddenly, she hit a sensitive spot. “OOH ooh ooh ohhh.....That hurt quite a bit.” said the alicorn. “I guess I forgot to tell you about my sensitive spot.” “Okay, I’ll try to avoid it.” replied Lotus.
In the sauna, Aloe got Luna wrapped in a warm, fluffy towel. “Is that okay?” asked the pony. Luna nodded happily. She sat down on the bench and Aloe stepped out, closing the door behind her. A few seconds later, steam shot into the sauna. It eventually got so steamy that Luna could hardly see past her own nose. And it started to get so hot that she was sweating like crazy. But she just smiled and leaned back against the wall. “Ahhhh, I really needed something like this.” she whispered, closing her eyes. After ten more minutes, she asked to get out. The steam cleared out and Aloe opened the door. Luna stepped out and Aloe slid the towel off of her. “Feel better?” asked the pony. Luna nodded, smiling. She got up on her hind legs and stretched tightly. “My muscles feel SOOOOOOOO relaxed.” she said.
“OOOOOOH that’s the spot.” came Celestia’s voice. Luna turned around to see her sister’s eyes rolled back, tongue hanging out of the mouth as Lotus rubbed the white alicorn’s shoulders. Luna nearly burst out laughing at Celestia’s expression. “I swear, if I had a camera I’d be taking a million pictures of that face right now.” she choked, holding back a powerful laugh. Celestia snapped back into reality and whipped her head at Luna.
“Just go do your own thing.” she said.

After the spa, the two princesses went over to Sugarcube Corner for some baked goods. Pinkie Pie led them inside, being bouncy as usual. She sat them at a long table with a brilliant tablecloth draped over it. On the table were tons and tons of pastries, mostly cupcakes, that made the alicorns’ mouths water.
“Who goes first?” asked Luna. “I do.” said Celestia quickly. She picked up a blue frosted cupcake and bit a lady-like bite into it. “Mmmm! Now THIS is a cupcake!” she exclaimed after swallowing. She continued to eat while Luna cut a slice of cherry cake and levitated it in front of her jaws. “Pfft. THIS will taste much more better!” she cried. She opened wide and bit down into the cake. Her eyes widened at the flavor. She chewed slowly and finally swallowed. “This...This is the best thing I’ve ever tasted.” she whispered. Celestia quickly reached for the cherry cake, but Luna shielded it her her forelegs. “NOOOOOOO this is all MINE!” she hissed, pulling the cake towards her chest. Celestia huffed and levitated another cupcake.
Luna resumed eating her slice of cake. When nopony was looking, she shoved a BIG bite into her mouth. Celestia could hear the smacking sounds emanating from her sister’s mouth. After she had had enough of it, she banged her hooves on the table and screamed, “DAMMIT JUST SWALLOW IT ALREADY!!!!” Everypony looked at her. Her white cheeks blushed a light red. “Uhh....sorry. It’s just that she does that to annoy me.” she whimpered. Luna gave her the evil eye. “What goes on with you two when you’re at home?” asked Applejack. “Ten times worse.” said Celestia. Luna finally swallowed the bite and laughed. “Well, looks like your outburst fired back at you, didn’t it?” she asked. Celestia elbowed her. “Ow!” she cried.
Suddenly, her eyes flew wide. “Hey, don’t you have to go and tend to something?” she asked. Celestia gasped. “Oh my God you’re right!” she cried. “I’m sorry everypony, but I need to go. My sister Luna here will be staying, though.” And with that, she flew out the door. Luna cheered and ate the rest of the cherry cake. Then she sat back in her chair, stuffed like a turkey.
Pinkie bounded up to her. “So, did you like the cherry cake I made specially for you?” she asked. Luna nodded and smiled. “Best cake I’ve ever tasted.” she said. Pinkie then started up a discussion about cakes and baking in all that. Luna actually seemed interested, so the earth pony kept going on about how long to bake a carrot cake.
At about 7 PM, Luna stood up and stretched. “Alright everypony, it’s about time I leave.” she announced. Everypony “awwwwwed” and hung their heads.
Just as Luna went for the door, she tripped on something. “OW!” she hissed. “And YES, I am fine. So don’t gather round.” She got back to her hooves and inspected the thing that she tripped on. It was a little black box. “Heh. Cute little box.” she said, smiling slightly. Then she noticed something. The box...was beeping. “Does anypony else hear that beeping?” asked Rainbow Dash. Everypony started muttering. “SHHHH!” shushed Luna. The beeping from the box got louder. With one hoof, the alicorn turned it over and gaped. Her eyes went wide. There, on the box, was a timer. It was ticking down by the second. “Everypony...it’s not a box. It’s...it’s a bomb.” she whimpered. Everypony gasped.
“GET OUT NOW!!” screamed Luna. Multiple ponies darted through the door. She rounded up a group of fillies and herded them out the door. One Pegasus’s dress got stuck under a chair. Luna kicked the chair back, freeing the dress. The Pegasus thanked her and ran out the door. Luna continued getting everypony out. She ran outside and yelled, “EVACUATE PONYVILLE NOW!! THERE IS A BOMB IN SUGARCUBE CORNER!!” Everypony screamed and raced down the streets.
Luna ran back into the bakery and looked around for any more ponies. After she was sure there were no more, she wiped some sweat away. “Now, to g---”
Her whole world went blindingly white as a sonic blast pounded her eardrums. Before she knew it, a rush of extreme heat washed over her as an explosion carried her into the sky. Her wings snapped, leaving her unable to fly as she tumbled back to the ground. She hit it with a loud, sickening thump. Then her world went black.

“LUNA!! LUNA!! WAKE UP!” Luna’s vision slowly swam into focus. She saw Twilight shaking her body, tears streaming down her cheeks. The alicorn warily raised her head. “Wh-What happened?” she mumbled. “A bomb went off and carried you with it.” said Twilight.
Luna didn’t have the strength to hold her head up, and it dropped back to the ground. “How do I look?” she rasped. “You have one hind leg and both of your wings are broken.” sobbed Twilight. Luna coughed violently. “I don’t think it’ll be long now.” she whispered. Twilight wept openly, her tears falling onto the princess’s soft fur. Everypony was crowded around the two, tears rolling down their faces. Twilight knelt down beside Luna and cried onto her side.
“T-Twilight?” asked Luna. The purple unicorn looked at the alicorn’s face. “Can you do me a favor?” questioned the princess. Twilight nodded. “I want you to take my place in the royal family. I want you to raise the moon and stars and pretend to be Celestia’s sister. Can you do that for me? Please?” asked Luna. Twilight nodded, sobbing loudly again.
Her face and forelegs were covered in the princess’s blood. Ashes that had fallen onto Luna were now joining that blood on Twilight.
“And one more thing...” whispered Luna. “T-Take my crown.” Luna’s eyes slowly closed as a fuzzy blackness started to sneak into her sight. Her chest rose and fell one last time, then she was gone.
Twilight threw her head back and cried loudly, rocking back and forth against the alicorn’s body.

Celestia sat quiet in her room, humming to herself. She had heard the bomb go off, but she thought Rainbow Dash had done a sonic rainboom. The alicorn was taking her shoes off, so of course she didn’t see it...or so she thought. The princess levitated a book in the air and started reading. Dusting the whole throne room was pretty hard work, and she needed this rest.
Just as she flipped to the next page, she heard the opening and closing of doors. She set the book down and turned around to meet Twilight walking in. Her face was stained with ashes, blood, and tears and her eyes were very puffy. Celestia gasped. “Darling, what happened?!” she cried. Twilight walked up to her. She managed to stop her uncontrollable gasping when Celestia brought her into a hug. Twilight finally was able to speak.
“A-At Sugarcube Corner, P-Princess Luna f-fo-o-ound a b-b-bo---” She couldn’t even say the word. It was so hard. Celestia matted Twilight’s frizzy mane down and asked gently, “She found a what?” The purple unicorn sniffled a few times before resuming. “Sh-She found a b-b-bomb...” she managed. Celestia gasped. “A-And the f-first thing she d-did was get ev-everypo-o-ony out and she t-told them to evacua-a-ate Ponyville. B-ut before she co-o-ould get outta th-there herself, the b-bomb...i-it...IT WENT OFF!!” cried Twlight. Now Celestia was crying. “R-Right before she died, sh-she told me t-to take her pl-place and to raise t-the moon and st-sta-a-ars. And th-then she t-told me to take h-her crown, and th-that was it.” finished the student.
Celestia sobbed openly, hugging Twilight tighter. They both wept on each other’s shoulders, tears trailing down their backs. After an hour, they pulled themselves together. “Did you try a reviving spell?” asked Celestia. Twilight nodded sadly. “It didn't work. The bomb was just too powerful.” Celestia wiped some tears from her eyes.
“She’ll be missed.” she whispered.

It’s been five years since Luna died. Twilight had taken her place and had successfully raised the moon and stars every night. Because of the sudden death of her beloved sister, Celestia needed to go to therapy. Every year on Luna’s death date, in Ponyville and every other place in Equestria, ponies bowed down to the moon at night and didn’t stand back up until morning.
And up there, standing on that moon, was Princess Luna, happy as could be.
