“Spitfire, what are you doing? You've been flying in the same spot for the last five minutes!”

A loud, irritated voice rang through the captains ears. She pulled herself out of trance with a shake of the head, and gave an angry Soarin a sheepish smile. “I'm sorry. I guess my mind was somewhere else, ” She said while rubbing the back of her head with a hoof.

Soarin just scoffed and returned to training with Spitfire blushing behind him.

It had been about a month since the night at Clipped Wings, and The Wonderbolts schedule had been reduced to at least one show a week. Spitfire felt more relieved than ever when the team agreed that it she’d had too much on her plate, and with her new marefriend, and Spitfire returned to her duties as captain.

There was a one issue though. Vinyl's tour across Equestria was putting a slight strain on their relationship. She only saw Spitfire once since their first night together. They didn't even have time to be alone. The DJ had arrived at The Wonderbolts door with some flowers and a kiss for Spitfire just to let her know she was still thinking about her. Vinyl knew it was kind of sappy, but she cared for her and knew Spitfire would appreciate it. No matter how much the pegasus teased Vinyl for bringing flowers, deep down the Wonderbolts's captain loved the DJ's gesture.

Spitfire was ecstatic to see her that day, and it took everything in her to not make out with the DJ right there. Sadly, Vinyl had a concert in two hours, and had to leave soon after she hooved her the flowers. That was two weeks ago. Now Vinyl was all Spitfire could think about, and it would sometimes distract her.

Unknown to anypony on the team, Vinyl was actually under a over hang of the Cloudsdale Colosseum watching the team practice; mainly Spitfire, of course. She had never seen the pegasus fly before, and stared in awe as the captain performed with her team. The unicorn knew that Spitfire was talented, but never expected that she could literally make a streak of fire across the sky. With every loop, twist, or turn, Vinyl would not lose sight of this beautiful mare's orange-yellow blur. Wonderful, was all she could think.

She soon noticed that the team's practice was coming to a close as they left the arena, and then Vinyl hid herself behind a column so nopony could see her. After a few minutes, she heard voices coming from the hall.

One of them that she didn't recognize said, “I understand that you’re team captain Spitfire, but you can't go off and just daydream randomly. Did you expect that Soarin was going to be nice about it?”

“Well... no, but he could have been less of a dick.”

Vinyl giggled quietly. The mouth on that mare, she thought in a mocking disapproval.

The other pony gave an exasperated sigh. “He is the co-captain Spitfire. When somepony on the team, including the captain, is acting out of line, of course, he's gonna snap.”

“I-I just miss... “ Spitfire began in a downtrodden tone.

“Yes, we know!” Her team-mate cried. “You've been talking about her since the night you two spent together, but you have to understand that when one pony is screwing up; the rest of the team suffers.”

The two Wonderbolts were passing Vinyl's hiding spot. She recognized the other pony was Fleetfoot, and saw Spitfire roll her eyes at the pegasus.

“Yes, I understand that, but sometimes, I'd rather have my wings removed, than deal with another show or practice,” She mumbled.

“I wouldn't do that if I were you.”

A warm feeling rose up inside Spitfire when she heard Vinyl's voice. She didn't see the unicorn, but she knew it was her. The Wonderbolt captain turned around to see Vinyl on her hind legs leaning with her back against a column and front arms crossed; her signature sunglasses at the end of her muzzle and ruby red eyes looking at Spitfire.

“There are so few perfect pair of wings in this world. It would be a shame to ruin yours.” A sly grin spread across Vinyl's face when she saw the pegasus stare at her with mouth hanging open in disbelief.

It soon changed, however, to an annoyed look as Spitfire closed the gap between them. The pegasus placed her hooves above Vinyl's shoulders and glared at her. The DJ didn't even move nor change her expression.

“The only reason you want me to keep my wings so you'll know when I am aroused.” Spitfire said snidely.

“HA! I don't need those to tell me when your turned on, babe. “ Vinyl brought a hoof to her chin, continued giving her that sly smile. “They’re there more for use than mine. I heard a rumor that pegasi have difficulty with discovering their sexuality, so you have your wings for assistance.”

Spitfire's face turned dark red, and she looked like she was ready to hoof Vinyl in the face. “You're a bitch!”

Vinyl shrugged. “Hey, it's not my fault you’re sexually confused, but lets take a look.” The DJ looked over beside Spitfire, saw that her wings were stiff, and returned . “Never mind, you’re already turned on by my presence.” She then curled up her front arms, and gave the pegasus a playful look while fluttering her eyes. “You flatter me, Spitfire. I knew, I had that effect on mares.” Vinyl lightly pushed against Spitfire with a hoof

“Shut up!” Spitfire said angrily before aggressively kissing Vinyl. The unicorn didn't flinch, and warmly accepted the mad mare's affection. They stayed lip locked for moment giving the unicorn a chance to take in the sweet cinnamon aroma coming from Spitfire. It was euphoric and made hard to concentrate on the kiss. The captain, on the other hoof, was fully into this action and edged her tongue forward to Vinyl's lips. The fur on them made her giggle some and sent a shiver through her body.

As the DJ opened her mouth, their tongues met in the middle and made them both moan in delight as they crossed paths. Vinyl had prepared for this kiss with a piece of spearmint gum she was chewing and she let the gum slip onto Spitfire's mouth muscle. The strong mint flavor of the unicorn's gum made her sigh pleasantly as a comfortable sensation wrapped around her insides. Soon after, Vinyl slowly lifted her right hoof up to the pegasus's wing and grazed the edge of them. This caused Spifire's body to go stiff for about a second by the sudden touch of her wing, and only increased her arousal. A jolt of surprise came from Vinyl, as the captain tipped the very edge of her marefriend's chest with a hoof and ever so slightly began to lower it down in between Vinyl's legs.

“Ahem!”

Spitfire was at the very tip of the mare's most sensitive area, when the loud interruption came from behind them. The Wonderbolts captain removed herself from the kiss, and turned her head around, along with Vinyl cocking her sideways to see what made the noise. Both of their eyes widened from their dazed looks by what they saw.

There was Soarin, Fleetfoot, and the rest of the Wonderbolts were watching them. They all had a goofy grins on their faces except for Soarin who scowling and Fleetfoot who had a halfhearted smile.

Soarin growled, “Spitfire! You know the Flight Camp fillies will be here soon, and if they catch... “

“Shut the buck up, Soarin,” Spitfire said with an exasperated sigh while she got off of Vinyl onto all fours to face her team. “I know when they'll be arriving. You don't have to preach to me.”

The stallion rolled his eyes. “Oh I think I do, captain. Even after we canceled those contracts, you seem to be preoccupied with other things.” He then shook his head. “And here I thought things would improve.”

Vinyl trotted in between them but little off in the distance so not break the invisible line these two created with their eyes. Neither one wanting to give into the other’s angry looks, but she could see the fire behind Spitfire's that almost scared her. The annoyed look she had given the unicorn was playful and had a little smirk on the edge of her lips, but this one was absolute anger. I had thought that these two had made up since the last time I was here... apparently not, she thought sadly.

“Well some of us can't function when we haven't gotten laid in a month.“ Spitfire stopped for moment and smirked “Isn't that right, co-captain?

Soarin started sweating, Vinyl could tell that this mare knew something about him that he didn't want the other team members to know.

He started backing up and stuttered, “Alright fine, fine. You win!” he stuttered. “Go with your marefriend.” He waved a hoof angrily, and quickly walked out the stadium with the other members standing there with confused looks.

Spitfire looked at the jaw-dropping unicorn with a grin. “Let's go.”

Vinyl gave an awkward smiled, and asked while trotting up to her, “Soooo what just happened? I thought you two...”

“Shhhh.” Spitfire quieted the confused unicorn with hoof. “I'll explain once we are out of earshot of my team members,” she whispered.

They soon exited the stadium with the rest of the Wonderbolts wondering the same thing as Vinyl inquired, and were on their way to the team's housing.

The pegasus began with cheery voice, “After our first “encounter”, I talked about that night, and you for a week.”

“Oh, did you now?” Vinyl cooed. “I never leave without having good reviews.”

Spitfire rolled her eyes, and playfully bumped her rump against the overly confident mare. “Yeah, yeah. Don't you get all high and mighty on me.”

Vinyl couldn't help but smirk at her.

“Aaaanyway,” the pegasus continued, “Soarin seemed rather pleased about it the whole thing. He agreed to cut back on the amount of shows and practices, so I could spend more time with you, but we know how that went.”

The unicorn's sheepish smile told Spitfire that she was sorry, but the captain already knew it wasn't her fault and continued, “So things went pretty smoothly after that, until... “ the mares voice went into a whisper, but she still looked around before she continued, “I was out shopping last week, and found him sucked off by some random mare beside the store's back alley.”

“What?!” Vinyl's yell made Spitfire jump a little, and attracted looks from passing pegasus, but most of them shrugged it and off went on their way.

The pegasus's brows furrowed. “Damn, chill out, will ya.”

Her marefriend blushed. “I'm sorry, but that's just a strange thing to hear. Especially considering he's a Wonderbolt. He could get any mare he wanted... “ Vinyl raised an eyebrow. “right?”

“Weeeellll, there is one more thing I haven't told you.” Spitfire's went even more quiet than before and said, “You can not tell anypony about this, and must not shout this time. Understand?”

By the solemn look on her face, the pegasus was serious about this one, and Vinyl nodded. In a barely audible whisper, Spitfire said, “Soarin was born with a small member.”

“Wow! Th-that's just... I don't know what to say to that other than, poor Soarin, ” the unicorn said truthfully.

“Yes, poor Soarin.” Spitfire grumbled.

They were approaching the Wonderbolts' home. Vinyl was getting excited because she knew what was going to happen once they went inside, but there was something that still confused her. “I don't understand why he so rude to you then, considering that you know his two darkest secrets.”

“Yeah, I confronted him about it tried to give him advice about how doing that with some off-the-street mare is dangerous.” Spitfire sighed. “ He denied everything, said I should mind my own business, and called me every name in the book.”

“Oh I see... “ Vinyl gave an unsure look. “So is that why he yelled at during practice?”

“Ha! No, that was my own fault. I was distracted... thinking about you,” Spitfire said sheepishly.

The unicorn gave a sly smile. “Naturally.”

“Psh, shut up you.” The pegasus poked her marefriend's side. “So lastly, he has just become unbearable lately. I try to avoid him as much as possible, but it's difficult, due to the fact we live in same place.”

“Right... I know how that is.”

Spitfire didn't know it but Vinyl used to have to live with her ex-marefriend. It was one of the worst moments of her life. There was always an uneasy tension in the room when they were home, and anything that the unicorn did wrong accidentally, would start a fight. It wasn't long afterwards when Vinyl decided to move out.

They had reached the front door of the Wonderbolts’ house, where some mail was lying on the floor that Spitfire picked and began shuffling through. Vinyl headed upstairs to Spitfire's room before the captain called to her. “Hey! look at this.”

The unicorn obliged her marefriend, and went back downstairs to look at the letter Spitfire ripped open. Her heart sunk at the sight of the mare on the Clipped Wings artist promotion card.

“Uhhhh, what about it babe?”

“It says that she is playing tonight at the club. She has becoming really popular with her dubstep/classical music.” Spitfire bent down and begged Vinyl, “Can we go see her, please?”

It's hard to resist the sad, playful anime eyes of the pegasus. The DJ rolled her eyes. “Alright, but I thought we were... “ Her voiced trailed away as she nudged her towards the bedroom.

The captain, taking the hint said, “Yeah, but how long are you free to be with me?”

Vinyl flinched at the question. “I'm free for two or three days, I suppose”

Spitfire gave a little-out-of character squeak. “We'll have plenty of time for that then, come on. Let's go and get there early.” She pulled Vinyl out of the building and made their way to Clipped Wings. The card floated down onto the floor facing up. A picture of a grey coated, blacked maned pony with an electronic looking cello in her hooves, and the words that read “Catch Octavia Philharminca playing tonight for one night and one night only.”
