//-------------------------------------------------------// Pinkie Gets an Eyelash in Her Eye -by GrizzlySin- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A Pain in the Eye //-------------------------------------------------------// A Pain in the Eye The sun rises on another otherwise quiet day in Ponyville. Everypony is rising with the sun and falling into their daily routines like clockwork and “hello”s and “good morning!”s are shared, aplenty. Songs were being sang and merry was being made that morning. Princess Celestia had bid her younger sister a good day's rest as she relieved her of her duty and took over her shift as ruler of the daylight. She smiled endearingly down on her subjects from high up on the balcony of her castle and basked in the sun's warm rays, her ethereal rainbow hair fluttering lightly in the early morning breeze. Twilight was finishing up her to do list for the day and was preparing to leave the castle to run a few errands and pick up a few things. Spike was just crawling out of bed while Owlicious was fluttering off to get himself some shut eye after a long evening of keeping everything in order for Twilight. Spike waved tiredly at the owl and he hooted back equally as tiredly to let the baby dragon know he'd acknowledged the greeting. When Spike reached Twilight, she turned to smile at him and ruffle his scales with her hoof as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "You ready for another big day of errands, today? I was thinking of treating you to lunch when we finish!" Spike seemed to perk up when he heard this and smiled back at her. "Alright!" He cheered and hopped up in excitement. Twilight and Spike were adjusting to their life in the castle, especially since their friends had decorated the rooms for them, but that didn't mean they didn't still enjoy getting out of the castle to enjoy such a beautiful day and spend time together and get lunch in town. Yes, things were looking to be bright and cheerful, today. Everypony had started off their days good, and were looking forward to what the day had in store for them. All the wonderful happy ponies of Ponyville .That is, everyone except Pinkie Pie. In she comes, stage left, hollering and wailing; what an ungodly sound. She slams into a cabbage cart, startling the vendor who jumps back and whinnies in surprise as she continues to flail into cart while furiously rubbing at her left eye and squalling as if her mane was on fire. The sound itself would break the hearts of all who knew Pinkie for who she was and not how she is in this moment. Next, she crashed into three more vendors and fruits and vegetables flew everywhere and littered the streets. Their respective vendors protests fell upon deaf ears, though, as she continued to wail and flail. Then she began to buck, kicking up fruits and veggies and inadvertently launching them in every direction as she did so. Tumbling and crashing, she bucked and squirmed her way through the Cakes’ bakery door and smashed into the counter. Her screaming set off the twins who had just woken up from all the ruckus and she bucked right into the display cakes. Mr. and Mrs. Cake tried to corner her and tend to her but their screeching twins needed their attention as well, leaving Mr. Cake to tend to a shrieking Pinkie as Mrs. Cake ran back to check on Pound and Pumpkin. Pinkie ended up bucking Mr. Cake aside before throwing herself to the ground and rubbing furiously at her eye again, which only seemed to irritate her more and she began to wail louder, more out of frustration this time, and her eyes began to water. Everypony on the street clamored around the Cakes’ bakery to peer in and see, with curious eyes, what was up with the town’s local merry-maker. Why wasn’t she making merry this morning? All she seemed to be doing today was breaking everything in her wake! Needless to say, nobody could get close enough to find out. Pinkie pie was being entirely too rowdy for the rest of the ponies to even get that far. It had taken almost 2 hours, and by then she had already smashed through the wall of the bakery, busted what was left of the carts, littered confetti everywhere with her confetti canon, smashed a hole into another building across the way from launching the confetti cannon through it when she realized that didn’t help at all, and shattered a few windows from all her bucking and throwing herself around. All this and she still was rubbing at her eye for dear life. Not only that, but the Cakes' Baker was absolutely destroyed on the inside. Twilight, who had been in town running errands, heard the cacophony and came over to see what all the commotion was about and was surprised to find her friend Pinkie at the very epicenter of it all. “Pinkie?! What are you doing? What is going on?” Twilight called out, noticeably keeping her distance just as everypony else was careful to do. Not that Pinkie could tell, with both eyes squinted shut, rubbing furiously at her left eye with her hoof. She only wailed and shrieked at her friend in response. Before she could do any further damage out of frustration and pain, Twilight hoisted her up with her magic and Pinkie’s eyes bolted wide open, albeit a little red and puffy from being rubbed at constantly. She smiled brightly at her princess friend and waved, rather oblivious to all the drama she had caused this morning. “Good Morning, Twilight!” She called out, oblivious to all the damage she’s caused. “Pinkie, what was wrong with you just now?” Twilight gently set her friend back down as she asked. “Oh that? I just had an eyelash in my eye! I finally got it out, though! I feel so-o much better!” Twilight and the rest of Ponyville stood agog and aghast at Pinkie Pie as she behaves as if she had not ran through town and wrecked absolutely everything. Pinkie beamed happily before hopping off merrily past a dumbstruck Twilight before commenting, “Gee, this place is a wreck!” Author's Note I went through hell and back to get this posted and it took me many months to realize the long description box was not the story box. I'll figure this site out, eventually. Little by little. Though I do say it's a lot better since I've tweaked with it in that time that it would have been if I'd been able to submit it the first try.
