It was midday and Ponyville was booming with ponies. The sun was out awaiting for some weather ponies to cover it up with clouds for a light rain later on that day. Ponies walked and talked to each other. Some where old and some where young. They had each come into down that day for a different reason. Some ranging from getting groceries to playing kickball with their friends. One Pony in particular had come to town  to shop for clothes for her soon to be born filly. She was a young mare ready to give birth any day. As she walked from store to store searching for small clothing she thought about what she would name the child. She had been trying to find an good name since she learned of her pregnancy many months ago but could never decide. When the mare finished her shopping for the day, she began her long walk home. She lived about fifteen minutes from the center of town. While she walked she thought about the clothse she bought for her unborn filly. She particularly liked a small shirt that she picked out. It was purple and had a star on the front of it. As she walked on she began to feel a bit weirded out. It was if somepony was following her. But when she would turn around and look behind herself she would see nothing but the town beaming in the distance. She would shake it off and continue on walking. When she reached her small cottage she stood in front of her door, struggling to find her keys. When she did, she used her magic to manipulate the keys into the door's key hole. Once unlocked and opened, she began to walk into her living room. She shut the door behind her and locked it. She then used her magic to turn on a few lights so that she could see in her dark home. She placed the bags of clothes that she purchased on a couch and proceeded to walk to the bathroom to freshen herself up a bit.

The mare stared at herself in the mirror. She noticed that her mane had become a bit messy and that her eyes appeared to be blood shot. She had been having trouble sleeping lately, and for good reason. She couldn't stop thinking about raising her daughter as a single mother. After the stallion who got her pregnant fled town she was left alone. She remembered how much that she loved him and how much she thought he loved her. Even though he abandoned her, she still had feelings for him. As the mare continued to stare at the mirror and remember the past year of her life she noticed something. There appeared to be a purple smudge on her mirror. She then placed her hoof on the mirror and tried to get the mysterious smudge off. She began to realize that the smudge wasn't a smudge at all. It was in fact a reflection of something behind her. When she turned around to see what it was, there was nothing behind her.

"Huh.", She said confusedly.

When the mare turned around to look at the mirror there was no purple smudge anymore. It was as if she imaged it all. She shrugged it off, blaming it on the many hormones running through her body. As she began to walk out of the bathroom she rubbed her eyes with her left hoof. Instead of going to read like she had planned she thought it was instead best to go to bed and get some rest for herself and the filly.

Before the mare fell asleep she whispered to herself, "I am running out of time. What will I name her?" Luckily for the pregnant mare, her question would not go unanswered that night. After the mare had drifted away into her sleep, something manifested in her room. A glowing purple mist floated at the end of her bed. It waited there as if it was staring at her. The mist then began to float to the right side of the bed where it then proceeded to disappear in the pregnant mare's head. The mare squinted a bit as the tail of the mist disappeared into her forehead.

That night the mare dreamt of beautiful things. She started off by dreaming about days and how the sky progressed throughout them. She particularly loved the way the sky looked during sunsets. Throughout her dream many things took place during a beautiful sunset. At one point she met a purple alicorn. The alicorn was kind and invited the pregnant mare to have some velvet cake. When they ate they talked about everything. They talked about the child's father who ran. They talked about what it was going to be like being a single mom. They even talked about good filly names. Just before the mare woke up, the alicorn whispered two words in her ear. When she woke up, she opened her eyes and smiled. She then proceeded to sit up and lean her tired back against the head board attached to her bed. She took her left hoof and rubbed her belly gently.

"I finally know what to name you.", she said smiling. "It came to me in a dream last night.", she said as she felt her baby kick. She giggled at the sensation. "Twilight Velvet. Your name is going to be Twilight Velvet."
