Ellie hadn't expected to wake up in this strange new world with not a sign of infected. No Runners, Clickers, Bloaters...nothing...Joel had spoken much about his time but Ellie just couldn't imagine it. Now it's all real but instead of other humans, these anthropomorphic 'ponies' are just baffling. After waking up in a forest, on another world, Ellie has a lot more to learn than just swimming.

Meanwhile Joel finds himself in a different body on a different world that resembles an old show his late daughter Sarah used to watch. Unaware that his 'adopted' daughter Ellie shares only the second half of his problem.

What lengths will each go through before they finally reunite? And will their past come biting back?
