                 Chapter 1: The Beginning

Chapter 1: The Beginning
It was the beginning of school, the first day of Fluttershy's sophomore year. As well as Rainbow Dash's. Fluttershy would step out of the bus in the back of the school, entering a door that led to the Cafeteria. She walked passed it, walking onto the Gym where she would wait until the bell rang. She sat by her friend, Twilight Sparkle, who was on the first column of seats on the top row. Rainbow Dash would be on the next column, straight across from them. She would be talking to her friends, as usual, seemingly having a good time.
Fluttershy sighed, looking over to Twilight. "What is it?" Twilight asked, her worrisome look landing on Fluttershy's devastated expression. "It's just....Why can't we be more than just some nerds that no one cares about?" Fluttershy told her, looking back over to Rainbow Dash in awe. "Oh, it's her again." Twilight groaned, turning Fluttershy's head back to hers. "Look, that Pegasus is never gonna notice you. Just accept it...Don't act like some crazy school-filly over her." She encouraged, her eyes fixed on Fluttershy's teal eyes. Fluttershy looked down, nodding. She knew she was right. She'd never be anything more than a nerd, or at least to Rainbow Dash.
The bell would ring, making both of the mares jump and run down the stairs, racing towards their lockers. Luckily, the two had their lockers right next to each other, top lockers. They smiled at each other, putting in their combinations in a matter of seconds. They grabbed their books quickly, shutting their lockers before going onto their first class: Reading. This was both of their favorite classes, after all, what nerd doesn't like Reading class the best? The two walked into the room together, sitting in their seats next to each other.
"Oh, look who's here." Fluttershy motioned over to a orange pony with a blonde mane, walking right next to Rainbow Dash. Her name was Applejack. "A-Apple...J-Jack..?" Twilight barely managed to say the words before scrambling out of her chair onto the floor. Applejack would look over, chuckling before walking over to the traumatized mare. "You alright Sugarcube?" She asked, holding her hoof out to Twilight. Twilight nodded sheepishly, taking Applejack's hoof. Applejack helped her up, smiling. "Good. Thought ya'll were seriously hurt." Twilight would sliver back into her desk, smiling at Applejack before she walked back to Rainbow.
Rainbow would be talking to a few friends, while Fluttershy would honestly just stare at her in amazement. "Beautiful..." She whispered, as Applejack finally made her way to the cyan Pegasus. Rainbow looked over to Fluttershy, who was still looking at her. She soon realized, almost falling out of her seat and quickly looking away, blushing in embarrassment. Rainbow shrugged, walking over to her seat which was luckily behind Fluttershy, and beside Applejack. She would poke Fluttershy, making the yellow Pegasus turn around quickly, slightly confused. "Uhh...Yes?" Fluttershy asked, looking at Rainbow Dash with both a confused and traumatized expression.
"I don't have a pencil...Do you have one?" Rainbow asked, holding out her hoof, expecting Fluttershy to give her once. Fluttershy nodded, quickly taking out her binder and handing her one. "Thanks." Rainbow mumbled, taking the pencil and giving a sheepish smile. Fluttershy turned around to her desk, a bit confused. Why did she ask me for a pencil? Me, of all ponies? The little Pegasus asked herself, putting her head on her desk. She didn't understand it. She wasn't anyone important to her, and she had never asked her for a pencil before. So why now then?
Meanwhile, Twilight would just be looking straight out into space, holding her head with her hoof. She noticed me....She really noticed me! She thought, silently congratulating herself. She looked over to Applejack, who was still talking to Rainbow Dash. Applejack glanced at her, waving a bit before turning back to the cyan Pegasus. Twilight sighed dreamily, turning back to her desk and taking out her notebook. She would start writing and drawing little things about her and Applejack. One of her little doodles said: "TS+AJ" inside a red-colored heart. She smiled, continuing to draw and write more nonsense.
The late bell would soon ring, the announcements soon coming on. The principal would come on, saying: "Hello, everyone! Welcome to Ponyville High! I am your principal, Mayor Mare! Now, for those of you who are new, please follow the instructions on your Student Handbooks. Otherwise, I suppose we should start the Ponyville pledge!" Mayor Mare would then start saying the pledge, along with all of the other students standing up and sluggishly following along, except for the freshmen. As she finished, everyone would sit down, Mayor Mare continuing. "Today is our first day here at Ponyville High this year! Please follow the expectations, and have fun!" She would then drop the intercom, leaving the students to talk.
The teacher would soon cut them off, starting to call role. As she would finish, she went up to the board and spelled "Miss Sunny" on it. The teacher would be a white Pegasus with a yellow mane. Her mane style was just like Cheerilee's, and so was her cutiemark, except it was yellow. She would start to talk about her rules and such, leaving her class nodding lazily after every word she said. She then gave each of the students a packet, which had all the rules and regulations of her classroom, and at the end, a thing that was where the parents' signatures were meant to go.
Fluttershy looked at the packet, then over at Twilight. She was still in her own little world. She nudged her, making Twilight jump. Twilight looked at the packet, then to her. They nodded at each other, starting to read the packet, a bit quickly. They soon finished, looking back to Applejack and Rainbow Dash. The two were talking to each other, not paying the slightest bit of attention to the packet. They both sighed dreamily, turning back to their desks and looking up at the teacher, waiting for further instructions.
