Chapter 2

Previous Chapter

There was way too much blood for one pony. It pooled around the Alicorn like a blanket might, reflecting the little lights around the unicorn mare, standing there, hooves locked up in fear.

Tentative, she took a step forward, and another, and another, until she was standing right in the middle of the puddle, the blood staining her once blue coat even further, until it became an angry purple red color. She reached out to touch her fallen friend, but as she spread blood all over the mares light pink fur, she couldn’t find a pulse. So she stood there, numbness spreading inside of her like poison.

Behind her, the Queen had once again risen from the ground, shaking off the effects of Dewdrops spells. She contemplated attacking the distracted mare herself, then pointed at the few still living drones, and ordered them to attack.

For a few precious seconds, the mare couldn’t hear anything but her own heart beat, the strong pounding in her chest reaching down to her hooves, until she heard the buzzing, and saw 3 drones come up to her.

Tears gathered in her eyes, but they didn’t stop her from killing each of the drones with a quick swipe of her sword, heart beat barely picking up, spelling their green slimy blood all over the entrance to the little alcove they were in. The blood started to eat through the stone almost immediately, but Dewdrop barely noticed the splatters on her coat, barely noticed the shaking of her body, barely noticed anything but the red hot hatred burning in her body.

The fizzling could barely be heard over her enraged screams, as she tore through the remaining drones, until she stood in front of the Queen, panting heavily,  covered in the acid blood of lesser changelings, who covered behind the last of her guards. The unicorn felt not a bit of hesitation, as she took the Queens head of her shoulders, smiling to herself in triumph.

Then, as she turned around to pick up her fallen friend, standing in the midst of the battlefield, slayed enemies flanking her, the tears started to fall. Big, heavy tears, that seemed to wash away the dirt out of blood stained fur, as she buried her head in her fallen friends mane, sobs shaking her frame. How could she let that happen?
