Ah, what a long and tiring day it was. Between flying around and dealing with bullies, it can be a real drain on you. I brushed my teeth, got on my pajamas and jumped into bed. I turned off the light and went to sleep. Suddenly, I awoke and saw that I was outside on Cloudsdale flying. Then I saw the Wonderbolts flying with me and, I was keeping up with them. I- ah! I woke up to hearing rain and lighting outside. Aw, I was sleeping peacefully and having an awesome dream too... I looked outside and saw that it was pouring hard as lightning flashed in the sky.. Dumb thunder. I was having a nice dream and you ruined it. I went back to bed and tried to fall back asleep once more. I was interrupted once more when I heard something knocking on the door.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked at the door. I thought it was just my imagination at first, so I closed my eyes and went back to sleep. I realized that it was real when I heard the knocking again. Despite being really tired, I got up and went to see who was knocking on his door. Just who can it be at this hour...? I opened the door to find a filly standing in front of me. The filly was in her pajamas and was holding a pillow. After a few seconds, I realized that it was Fluttershy.
"Fluttershy?" I asked.
"Hey, Rainbow Dash," she said.
"What are you doing here? It's pretty late, you know," I said, rubbing my eyes.
"About that, uh… Can I stay with you for tonight?" She asked.
I was barely awake, but I knew this wasn't a dream.
"Huh? Why?" I asked, confused.
"It's just that I'm afraid of--"
Lightning suddenly struck, and of course where there's lightning, there's thunder. She immediately clutched her pillow and hid her head behind it.
"Of that!" She said, scared.
"Which one? The lightning or the thunder?" I asked.
She peeked out a bit from behind her pillow.
"What's the difference?" She asked.
"Well... Lightning is the flash of electricity. Thunder is the sound that follows it." I explained.
"Well, then both!" She said, hiding her head once more.
I chuckled a little as she said that.
"So, can I sleep here?" She asked.
I scratched my head and thought about it. I can't really blame her for being afraid. She is easy to scare after all. I sighed and said,
"OK, come in."
"Yay!" She said happily.
She entered the room and laid down next to my bed. I closed the door and walked towards my closet.
"What are you doing?" She asked.
"Just looking for an extra blanket." I replied.
I searched every inch of the closet and didn't see it. I could have sworn I had one around here.
"Why?" She asked.
"Because, I'm going to sleep on the floor. You can sleep on the bed." I replied, still looking in the closet.
I turned around and she appeared to be saddened by my response.
"Oh no, you don't have to do that. I can sleep on the floor." She said, clutching her pillow.
"Nah, I'll be fine. Besides, that's no way to treat a friend." I told her.
Despite the fact it was dark, I thought I saw her smile.
"But-"
"Don't make me repeat myself," I said, seriously.
It's just like her to put everypony else before herself. I looked back in the closet and still didn't see it. Well, I guess I'll just have to sleep without a blanket tonight.
"Uh, Rainbow Dash?" She asked.
"Yea?" I asked.
"If it's ok with you, we can sleep on the bed together." She said quietly.
I gave it some thought and realized she had a point. Besides, at least if I'm with her, she can rest easy knowing I'm here. I sighed once more and closed the closest.
"Alright. That's fine." I said.
She happily got into bed and under the sheets. I got on the bed and under the sheets as well.
"G-good night," She said.
"’Night," I said, smiling.
There was an awkward silence as the two of us were trying to sleep. As I was about to say something, lightning stuck somewhere outside. The flash and the sound that followed scared her. This time, instead of clutching her pillow, she got a hold of me. I couldn't help but blush by her quick action.
"Rainbow Dash, can't you do something about that?" She asked.
"Sorry, but that's something even ponies as awesome as me can't do. I don't know the first thing about stopping a storm." I replied.
I knew that answer didn't help her in any way. She looked like she was ready to cry. I had to quickly think of a way to prevent her from crying. Just then, I said the first thing that came to mind.
"It's okay. Don't worry, I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you." I said proudly.
"Really?" She asked.
"Really." I replied.
She seemed to be relieved by my answer. Even though it was a bit tough, I could tell she was slowly closing her eyes and started to sleep. I took a quick peek at her sleeping face.
"Good night," I said, smiling.
I had a hard time falling asleep since it was pouring and thunder kept sounding in the process. Well, as long as she's ok, I've got nothing to worry about. She kept shaking during the night as thunder continued to fall. I held her close, and she slowly seemed to calm down. After several hours, I slowly closed my eyes and went to sleep.

I woke up bright and early the next morning. I put my hoof over my face to block the bright light hitting my face. I looked over to Fluttershy, finding her still fast asleep. I stretched my wings and went to the kitchen to make breakfast. I noticed Fluttershy walking towards me with a smile on her face as I was finishing making breakfast.
"Morning, Rainbow Dash.” She said happily.
"Hmm? Oh, hey Fluttershy." I said.
"What's wrong? You don't look so good." She said, worried.
"Yeah, well, let's just say that the thunder kept me up." I said, rubbing my eyes.
"Is that so…" She asked, concerned.
"Oh, your worry too much. I'm fine, really." I said.
She looked at me strangely but eventually; she stopped worrying.
"You want some breakfast?" I asked.
She shook her head.
"No thanks. I took up your time as it is." She replied.
"Ah, don't sweat it, here." I said, making her a plate. She seemed reluctant at first, but she finally sat down and started to eat.
"Thanks." She said.
I nodded and ate as well. After about a few minutes, we finished and cleaned our plates. She started to head out, but before she left, she looked at me with a smile on her face.
"Hey, Rainbow Dash?" She asked.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Thanks... For letting me stay with you last night." She said, walking away.
I smiled and whispered "No problem..."
