Sam, a college aged student with black hair, light brown skin and a short beard, relaxes as he takes an afternoon nap with a fan nearby, blowing cool air to help him sleep, since he needed some form of white noise to help fall asleep. Some time before his nap, he had enjoyed a good burger and fries from a nearby burger place, always wanting to hit up every burger place he could find. This time, the burger was thick and juicy and the fries had garlic seasoning to them, making them extra delicious. However, the combination made him sleepy and, instead of fighting it, he went to his couch and rested his head on it, figuring he could sleep this off and awake refreshed.

Sometime into his nap, he hears his phone’s ringtone go off, slowly awakening him from his nap. He groans, too tired to open his eyes to see who was calling. He smacks his lips and turns over, ignoring the call, figuring whoever would call would leave a message. A few seconds after the first call had ended, the phone rang again, making him grumble softly to himself. ’Maybe if I ignore it, it’ll stop,’ he thinks to himself, trying to fall back asleep as the phone continues to ring for a few more seconds before dying off again, thinking he can finally get some more sleep. He was rudely interrupted again as the phone rang a third time, making Sam curse under his breath. With his eyes still closed, he turns himself around on the couch and reaches for his phone, nearby on a table near his glasses and answers it. “H-Hello?” he asks in a groggy voice.

"Hey Sam, you have to see this. I found something interesting that you'd be interested in.”

“Tate? Is that you?” Sam asks, recognizing his friends voice, though half asleep still. “What sort of ‘something’ did you find?”

"You have to come and see this. I don't think this is something I can tell you about over the phone," Tate says into his phone.

“Dude… you woke me from a fucking nap that I was enjoying… You called me to come where you are just to see some stupid thing you found?” Sam pauses for a moment, being a bit upset, but not angry at his friend before sighing deeply. “Alright… where is it?”

"Meet me in the park in ten minutes, you're not going to regret it," Tate says with a level voice before hanging up the phone.

“It better fuckin’ be…” Sam groans and realizing a full nap was impossible now, he sits up on his couch and stretches his body to wake it up again before going for his glasses on the table and putting them on, allowing him to see clearly. He then stands up and grabs a hoodie of his and grabs his keys, locking his apartment’s door as he heads towards his car to meet his friend at the park.

(Fifteen minutes later…)

"Dude there you are," Tate says as he holds a cloth covered item in his arms as he smiles at his friend.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m here…” Sam yawns softly as he rubs his eyes. “What is it you wanted to show me dude? I hope it was missing a nap over.”

"This," He replies as he holds out the cloth covered item and looks into his eyes.

“What is it?”

"Well I don't think I'd have to tell you to take off the cloth. You might recognize it.”

“Sure, whatever…” Sam says and takes the cloth off of the item, looking at it with a cocked eyebrow. “What is it? I don’t get it.”

"I thought you were a fan of that show... it looks like it's from that show you like.”

“Well, isn’t this more your show than mine? I really don’t watch the show or is as into it as you,” Sam replies, looking at the book his friend was holding. “Did you read it at all?”

"No I haven't, I was waiting for you to get here," He says as he pulls the book back close to his chest and smiles.

“I see. So you called me over here from a nap I was having to look at a fucking book you haven’t opened yet? Or did you find something else that would make this worthwhile?”

"Well that's the other thing, it came out of a large mirror in front of our college. Come on.”

“‘A large mirror?’”

"Yeah, you know that statue in front of the college?”

“Yeah? What about it?”

"That's the mirror that it came out of.”

Sam cocks an eyebrow with his arms crossed. “Really now? A mirror appeared from it?”

"Yeah. I didn't believe it either until it smacked me against the back of my head.”

“Hmmm, interesting. So… you want me to go with you to see it?”

"Yeah. I think you'd find it interesting since you're a physics student.”

Sam sighs softly, wishing he would get back to his nap. “Sure… why not. If this is a wild goose chase, I’ll probably take a nap for the rest of the day then…”

"Then let's go!”

“Yeah… sure…” Sam says, half excitedly, heading back to his car before he follows his friend back to their college, hopefully making this “journey” worthwhile.

"This is it dude," He says as they approach the tall statue that had the mascot of their college.

“Yep, that is it…” Sam replies as he follows his friend, still holding the book, as they approach the statue.

"It was like it just came out of it like a bullet.”

“Really now?”

"Yeah, I still can't explain it. It's so weird.”

“I would imagine it is. So is this mirror just any ordinary mirror or does it have like… special properties or something? Let us see in an alternate dimension?” Sam asks sarcastically.

"I don't know..." He says and then leans back against it and suddenly feels as if he was passing through the surface. As he yells out, he grabs Sam's wrist and pulls him in with him.

Sam yells and unexpectedly follows his friend into the unknown dimension, not knowing what to expect on the other side of it.
