Prologue

“Blam, blam, blam, blam. That’s the sound that will forever ring in the back of my mind,” said Burning Glory as he spat out blood. “As space marines, we do not feel fear, nor do we know the meaning of it. We are taught from earliest days upon joining the chapter that are will is no longer are own, but it is now in a part of something greater.” He stop short gasping for breath. Looking down he notices where one of the rounds went through him.

He raises himself up as best he can. “hmmmm…. hmmmm…ahh.” and with a thud falls back down. “Damn, huh huh... I’m hit worse than I thought!” He checks his vitals on the HUD in his helmet. “I must continue…. I can’t let Farpulax and his vile minions…. uhhhh…. win!” He tries to move forward.

As Burning Glory makes his desperate craw up the hill of ash and blood, shots rang out in the distance. Minions of Chaos sprawl across the battlefield and laugh as their twisted will come to fruition. Suddenly out of nowhere “By the God-Empress, we will prevail!” screams Sgt. Kickback. “You traitors want some more, because I will gladly comply!” Kickback fires his heavy bolter with thunderous fury and pride, showing just how dangerous Devastator Marines can really be when pissed. Kickback turns his head to see his next target.

“Come here you runt!” says Sgt. Kickback as grabs an unlucky gurgling. “boomp, boomp, booomp, booomp... Goddess, I love that sound!” Turning his head once more he notices his Chapter Master on the ground. “Chapter master, lie still, your badly wounded.” Says Kickback as he puts pressure on Burning Glory’s abdomen.
“Uhhhh… How many did we lose in frontal assault sergeant?” says Burning Glory. “Twenty-five brothers lost in the initial assault and half of second company just trying to flank the left of the fortress. Farpulax was prepared, vile scum.” Kickback said has he continues hold pressure on the Biggest of bullet wounds.

“Only in death are we free from our service sergeant, it’s up to the living to carry out her will ... uhhhh… uhhhh.” Burning Glory says trying to save his strength until the apothecary gets there. “We must end Farpulax’s rain here, or he and gurglings will rot this entire sub-sector. Had I only stopped him before this started.” says Burning Glory as he drifts in and out of consciousness.
