The air was filled with the sounds of screaming and pain. Plasma rounds melted the ground around Omega as he ran to his next victim. With a heavy grunt, he sprung from the ground with his blade in his right hand. He sliced the head of the alien clean off before flicking the black, though strangely glowing, blood off. “Theta!” He shouted, taking his pistol of of his hip and fired directly above him. The body of another alien dropping to the ground like a dead fly. The smell of burning flesh and the stench of rotting bodies filled the air, being blocked out by Omega's fragrance blockers, dispelling the foul smell. Omega glanced from left to right looking for his comrade on Nabia Prime. There, clear as day, was Theta. Omegas eyes widened behind the orange glow of his face plate as he saw what was happening. Theta was being held by two of the disgusting aliens, a third with a long, spear like blade just inches above his heart. But, before Omega could do anything, his eyes snapped open.
The wind howled fiercely on the barren world of Nabia Prime as Omega woke from his memory. The dust of the planet stuck itself to everything that wasn’t it's own kind. That included Omega. His dirtied red full body armour camouflaged him in the dusty storm. His orange, v-shaped visor glowed like a beacon in the storm. The orange visor started from both eyes, moving diagonally down to his chin. His signature symbol, the omega letter, on his forehead. As he took a few steps forward he sighed. “So, this is what has become of this place.” Omega said as he scanned the barren surface.
“Over fifty years since there has been peace, and over thirty three planets has been destroyed in the war, maybe even more.” looking over the bones of all the soldiers that gave their live for the cause, Omega knelt to the ground and picked up a small, slightly shiny metal plate. It was a dogtag, rusted over time and the elemental weather.
Sighing, Omega sat down, crossing his legs. Breathing deeply, Omega closed his eyes, allowing darkness envelop his vision from behind his helmet. “Ah thought i’d find you here.” A familiar echoed in his audio receptors of his helmet.
“Hello, Delta.” Omega said as he turned his head slightly to view his old friend.
“Heya Omega.” Delta said, his green, triangle shaped visor on his faceplate casting an eerie glow on Omegas back. Due to his brown full body armor, he was easily hidden in the storm. He sat down next to Omega, pulling his knees to his chest as he viewed the destroyed planet. “It's been a long time since we've been here, hasn't it?”
“For you maybe, but everytime i sleep i relive this place. This place and every other planet that i failed to protect.” Omega looked at his friend, his signature symbol on his left shoulder pad. “What do you want Delta?”
“Fine, i'll get straight to the point. The team is getting back together, well what's left of the team anyway. I've got Epsilon tracking down the other members.” He looked out towards the horizon. “We need you back, Omega. The team needs you.”
“There is no team! Not anymore, not since Alpha died.” Omega grunted, looking to the dead bones of his fallen comrades. “Besides, my mind is still……, I'm not myself anymore.”
“I know, but i can't do this without you. Out of the whole team, you could last more than Ten minutes against Alpha. Whereas the rest of us could only last three minutes against him.” his right ear piece opened, segmenting into two parts, connected by three cables with a beeping light on each. “Delta here. Is that right? Good.” he said as he placed a finger to his right ear. “ Zeta, Rho and Chi have already joined us. You coming with us or not?” Delta asked before standing up and extending a hand towards Omega.
Omega grunted. “Fuck it.” Omega grabbed Deltas hand and pulled himself up.
Delta smirked. “Good to have you with us, Omega.”
The frigate rocked back and forth as Omega and Delta sat down in the cramped seats. “We have to pick up the others on Omia, i bet they'll be glad to see you.” Delta said as he took off his face plate, pressurizing the suit. A pale face showed itself as Delta looked at Omega, his weathered face and pale blue eyes peered out of the now faceless suit. “You know you can take yours off too right?”
“I prefer to keep it on.” the ship violently jerked forward as the ship entered the atmosphere of Omia.
“Breaking atmosphere in T-seven seconds” the VI of the ship echoed in the small room. T-Minus six, five, four, three two, one, breach.” the small ship glided down from the sky and scraped against the ground before landing in front of four figures. The first one on the left was Epsilon. His symbol was planted onto his right hand, his armor was a dark brown-goldish in colour. His visor was two blue glowing strips, the two of the strips going down each eye. Zetas symbol was on his chest where his heart is. He wore dark purple full body armour with a yellow visor. The visor was a single bar across both eyes. (i should mention that the faceplate is made of metal and the visor is basically the viewing part) Chi wore a deep yellow-goldish full body armor with her light red visor going in an X pattern over her eyes, her symbol on her left thigh. And lastly, Rho stood on the far right of the group. He wore light gray full body armor with his symbol on his right cheek. His visor was white in colour, the two separate rectangles over each eye.
“Well, i'll be damned.” Omega said as he viewed the camera screen. “It's good to see them again.”
“I’ll open the hatch.” Delta said, as he pressed some buttons on the right side of the door. The door opened with a hiss as the door lowered down to create a makeshift ramp. The former team members walked into the cramped ship, it's confined space forcing themselves to squish together. With an audible hiss, just like before, the door clamped shut. “Howdy y'all.” Delta said with a friendly smile. The four nodded and sat down, taking off their faceplates.
Epsilon was the first. As the air in his helmet was vacuumed out, a sigh escaped his lips. A light bathed his right side of his dark skin in a deep shade of red, his green eyes like beacons in a pool of white. Zeta's face plate was second, revealing a slightly tanned face with light cyan blue eyes, a scar showing itself on his right side cheek. Chi’s faceplate slid off quicker that the other two, mostly down to how quick in general her movements were. The mask revealed a slightly coloured skin complexion, her eyes were slanted slightly, her Asian heritage showing itself. She had two pools of liquid emerald for her eyes, truly a beautiful sight to behold for Omega, although he would never admit it. And lastly was Rho. He took his face plate off a slight bit slower than Chi’s but still faster than the rest. 'The fourth fastest team member in our group.’ Omega thought to himself as he watch Rho take it off. The mask revealed pale white skin with two white orbs for eyes. He wasn't blind, as shown from the visible pupil and outline of his iris, but it still confused Omega.
A moment of awkward silence passed as the ship broke through the atmosphere, the occupants of the small room all staring at Omega, well all but Delta, who was facepalming. “I've already asked, he won't remove it for some reason.”
“And here I was hoping we would finally see his face.” Zeta said with a hint of sarcasm.
“Don't we all, Zeta.” Delta groaned through his covered mouth. A series of beeps echoed around the room as a set of lights next to Delta lit up and started blinking. “Well, that's a good sign at least.”
“What do you mean Delta?” Rho asked with a bland, nonchalant laced voice. His voice sent chills down Omegas spine, just as it did to everyone else except Delta and Rho.
“It means that my ship will be picking us up once it leaves FTL.” Delta leaned against the the cold panel behind him. “I suppose you are all wondering why I pulled you out of hiding?”
“Yeah, because last I heard, the galaxy doesn't particularly like us at the moment.” Chi said, crossing her arms over her chest. “And speaking of which, where is the rest of our group?”
“I don't know, the only person that I communicate with, other than Epsilon, was Gamma, but he's gone dark. And I can't track the other remaining members. The only other person I heard about last was Omicron fighting in a different solar system. And even then it was just rumours and speculations.” Delta crossed his arms. “As for the reason that you lot are here, something is brewing deep within the galaxy. Something unheard of, something evil. And it's something that can wipe out every organic and synthetic life form in the galaxy.”
“Genetic mutation, murder, genocide. Hell whatever your minds can create, and we need to stop it…..but we can't do it alone. The Kari K are plotting something again and this time, they might not be alone. We need to reunited the galaxy, space traveling and primitive alike.” Delta continued as everyone listened.
“What's our first stop?” Zeta asked in desperation as he looked on in horror. “We can't let them come back, we can't let them enslave this galaxy again, I can't...I won't let them hurt my friends, my family!”
Omega looked on in sadness. “I agree.” Everyone turned towards their silent team member. “I will not let what happened on Galma happen again.” That was the day Omega lost the one man that fully understood him, Theta. Omega reached into one of his small bags that he had on his side's and back, feeling the cold metal dog tag of Theta's.
“Well, in any case, we have to go Baroon. The moon of Odiel 9, there's a base in one of the craters that I was stationed at. It's a hush, hush at the moment, no one else except us of course.”
“Well. That's convenient.” Rho stated with an raised eyebrow. “Now then, how do we get there?” As he said that, the ship that Delta had mentioned earlier appeared out of nowhere, stretching slightly before returning to its normal self. “That too, is also convenient.” The ship itself wasn't that special, a simple cruiser classed starship with a very basic design. ‘RS-1 Dawnstar’ was etched into its side as it came into view.
“Hello, Commander Delta.” The Dawnstar’s AI spoke as it got close to the shuttle.
Celestia say by her desk, her eyebrows clenched together in annoyance. This wasn't the first time she stayed up late to finish off paperwork. It was mostly just about the problems of other ponies, the economy and bits, negotiations with other countries and other stuff like that. “Tia, we, I mean 'i’ do not know why you have to do all this work. It is night, and thus, It's my responsibility to do this.” Celestia looked at the sudden voice of her dear sister, Luna. She was the Ruler of the night, her mane like blue stardust, sparkling stars seemingly imbedded in her mane. The dark alicorn strolled into her sisters room, her cutiemark was of a crescent moon with a black like mist.
“I know, lulu. But I have to finish it. Otherwise I won't be able to sleep tonight.” Celestia sighed, dipping her quill into the ink pot with her magic, and continued to write, her beautiful writing slowly inching it's way to the end of the scroll. She groaned angrily as she scratched her neck with her hoof, her white coat ruffling as she did so.
With a sigh, Luna gave up. “Okay, I'll be in the throne room if you need me. And try to get some sleep Tia.” With that she trotted down the dark hallway of the castle. With a yawn, Celestia dunked her quill back into the ink pot and left it there. With a friendly smile, she turned towards the clear window and out towards the star lit sky. A white trail burned across across the dark background of Luna's night sky. Celestia’s eyes followed the trail while she spoke. “A falling star. I haven't seen any in so long. And neither has Luna, apparently.” With a smile she looked towards her work before sighing again. “Better get this done.”
But little did she or anypony know, it was not a falling star. In fact, it was something...alien.
“Well team, here we are.” Delta said as the rest of the squad got out of the shuttle. As Omega looked around the base, he noticed the...stares they were getting. Some where of respect, some of fear, and some of anger. Which was understandable to Omega, given what had happened.
“Ah! There you are Delta.” A strange voice was picked up by Omega as he, and the others, turned to the sound. A woman stood there, her amphibian like tail gently swinging side to side. She was a varshil, meaning water breather. She had glimmering blue skin, with light reflecting off of her due to the light amount of slime. Not over the top amount of slime as to make her clothes wet, but still enough to make it damp.
She had beautiful big purple eyes with large pupils as well as long tentacle like hair going just below her shoulders. Two small, almost unnoticeable slits opened slightly just an inch or two above her thin lips. Two small hands cupped around the edges of some jotters as she held them close to her chest, her breasts hidden by said jotters. She had two webbed feet with small squishy discs acting as toes (for humans anyway). She wore a simple white T-shirt and a long black skirt reaching to her knees. She stood a good foot or two higher than the team, they themselves being around seven foot tall.
“Ah! Doctor Talik, it's good to see you my friend.” Delta said, hugging his friend. Her eyes widened in surprise before a content smile graced her thin lips and hugged him back. I moment of silence passed before they released each other. “How are you doing today?” He asked, nodding his head towards the members as a single to follow them as they walked.
“Not too shabby D, although the air is a bit dry to my liking.” Talik spoke, her tail swung side to side as she walked beside him.
“I'll try and get someone on that. But for the time being you'll just have to bare with it I'm afraid.” Delta said rubbing the back of his helmet plates.
“I know, it's nothing too serious anyway. I have slimy skin for a reason you know.” She laughed, Delta shortly joining after her.
“Oh yeah, that reminds me. Guys this is Talik, she's the head scientist here on the base. Talik, these are my teammates and friends. Epsilon, Chi, Rho, Zeta and Omega.” The members gave a hello, hi, and hey when there names were called.
“Hello to you all too.” She said with a smile. “We'll be stopping at a nearby room to pick up your weapons that you left when you, well when you left I guess.” Talik led the team to an averaged sized, white room where a bunch of weapons lay on a black table. The room was tiled white, as previously mentioned, with very little else in colour. Omega was first up as he walked towards the end of the table. There, on his side, lay a long, slightly thin, double edged sword. The make of the sword was that of a katana (yes I know, real original.) That glowed orange in the middle leading from the hilt up to the point of the sword. Omega picked up the sword and twirled it around in his right hand a bit before picking up the next thing on the table with his left hand. It was the swords sheath. It was perfectly sized to fit Omega's body, an orange light displayed in the centre of the sheath. With a quick movement, Omega locked his sword in its sheath, placing it on his back, a peg on the sheath locking and pulling itself into a hole on his armoured back.
Omegas symbol lit up on the tip of the swords hilt, supplying the sword with power. Next was three belt like pieces of clothing. All three of them had two slits with a handle sticking out of them. Omega strapped one of the belts onto his chest, the fabric wrapping around his body effortlessly. He grabbed one of the handles and pulled it out, revealing a long dagger, the blade was as long as his hand. After inspecting each blade, he strapped the other two belts on. One on his right thigh and the other one on his left arm. The daggers didn't have his symbols on them as he would end up throwing, breaking or losing them when ever he had to use them. Besides, the where easily replaceable and he usually has spares anyway. There was also an SMG on the table, one that he took from an enemy long ago. It wasn't big like a rifle, a medium sized gun. It was mostly curved near the handle for better grip and a two toned colour for the body, a mix between silver and black. He placed the SMG on a magnetic clamp on his back next to his sword.
The last, but not least….was Theta's pulse rifle. Omega placed a hand on the weapon. Memories of them on the battlefield sprung in his mind, sounds of firearms, explosions and much more. Before he realised, his hand began to tremble as he clutched the rifle. If it wasn't made if the metal that it was made of, it would have bent inward due to the amount of force he was using. The other teammates took note of this, but before they could act upon it themselves, Omega snapped out of his state. Without a word he picked the rifle up and placed it on a metal clamp on the right side of his sword on his back, along with a elite classed, silver pulse pistol on his right thigh along with the daggers. With everything strapped in place, Omega walked out of the room and waited for the others with Talik and Delta. She looked at him nervously, he could tell she wanted to talk about what happened, but she stopped herself.
He never noticed this before, but Delta already had his weapons. He had a folded up hammer on his back, god knows what he can do with that thing. He already had god like strength, add a high-tech, super powered hammer to the mix and you got death himself. And you think that Omega is over exaggerating. Delta also had a folded SMG strapped to his left thigh and a knife on his left breast holder. Epsilon walked out first, large, metal plates with metal gloves were attached to both his arms. A average sized metal tube was attached underneath the thick plates. The plates where a deep orange in colour with green writing in the middle. He had three throwing knives at each hip. Chi walked out next. She had two pistols clamped to each hip with a dagger next to her right pistol.
Zeta had a shotgun on his back with three explosives on lower torso. And lastly, Rho had a sword attached to his right hip. The blade reaching down to his knee. He had a sniper folded down onto his back with his symbol etched onto the barrel.
After Rho stepped into the room, the group walked down the metal corridor. “Now that you are all suited, we shall show you something verrry interesting for you all.” Talik said with a knowing smirk as she lead the team into a massive room, easily 50ft high, probably even taller. The room was mostly dark, with lights from some monitors from the far wall and on the catwalks above the ground. Sparks flew down from the catwalks as the engineers worked on a project. The “projects” where nearly as tall as the building and there were six of them, the six being visible, that is. In the far back there was lots of them. Around 19 of them all together.
“These are what me and Talik have been working on for the past 50 years.” Delta spoke as he stopped by a monitor, pressing a few holographic buttons. Powerful lights up above suddenly powered up as light were splattered across the large metal constructs. Gigantic, hulking bipedal machines stood there. Each of them as large as two buildings stacked upon themselves. “We call them...mechs."
The team looked towards the first “Bio-mech”. It was...bulky to put it short. The synthetic 'muscle' and armour made it look thick and strong, and they could easily see it was supposed to be a tank of sorts. Probably able to both deal, and take a lot of damage. Brown plated armour lined the synthetic muscle, covering down to just before it's wrist. And continuing from his fist, a large curved spike jutted from the side of its wrist reaching its elbow. Most of its main body and torso was full plated and likely mostly mechanical, showing very little of its 'skin'. The armour covered the most of its legs, stopping just at the ankles and continuing at its feet. It's head and neck was mostly mechanical, just like it's body. Its head was angled slightly, the head was made from metal, three large spikes jutted out from the back of his head. It's face, was mostly made of metal, with the few bits of synthetic muscle and skin, with dull green eyes. It had no mouth, a large brown plate covering just where his nose should be.But the most noticeable feature on it was Delta's symbols in the exact same location. “This one, is mine.” Delta said as he stood in front of it.
A small village, standing near the edge of the everfree forest, was full of activity. The village was called ponyville, and due to the …unexpected explosion in the forest, the village was full of activity. “Now, if everypony can just calm down!” Mayor mare shouted out at the sea of ponies formed around the mayor's house. Her tan coloured fur stuck up at odds and ends, a clear indication that she had been forcefully woken up. With a sigh of frustration, she picked up her cup with her hoof and drunk down the whole lot before throwing it on the ground, silencing everypony.
“Now that that's done, we can get to work.” She said as she straightened herself, “I do not know what has hit the forest, but I can assure you it will get sorted out.” She paced back and forth between her house. “Whatever it is, it's deep within the everfree forest. And unless any of you are willing to go check what it is yourselves, I'd advise you to return to your homes. Twilight sparkle has already sent a letter to princess Celestia and with any luck, somepony will be here within the hour. The soldiers that she will send will be experienced in dealing with things like this. Thank you for cooperating.” And with that, she went back into her home.
“What do you think it is, Lyra?” Bon-Bon asked her friend. Her pink and dark blue mane flowing in the breeze.
“I don't know, but I'm starting to think that we are not alone in the universe.” The mint coloured unicorn stared at the night sky. “Because that was not a space rock that's for sure.”
Meanwhile, deep with the everfree forest, all was silent. Not even the great hydra’s of the forest dared to make even the smallest of noises. A large, smoking crater has been recently formed in one of the open cave systems of the forest. “Could you have landed any quieter?” A person mocked as he put out the fires around the ship. The person who was talking was human. He had a standard gray military suit with the helmet and dark blue glass visor, blocking his face from view.
“Har, har. Very funny. You and I both know that this ship was built to “crash” on the planet. It's the fastest way to go planetside.” Another person spoke, wearing the same armour as his friend.”
“Enough of you're bickering!” A voice came from the ship as the two jumped out of their skin. “We have work to do on “Equestria” as the locals call it, and I don't need to be further hindered by you two!” As the two grumbled in protest, the speaker moved away from the window of the ship and towards a metal panel. His entire body and head, apart from his face, was covered in dark black coloured, metal segmented armor. He had a thin, black beard covering his lower jaw. He had a scar going across his nose diagonally and he had one deep, blood red left eye. He grunted before putting on his faceplate, his visor was just a simple, blood red visor. He had a symbol on his right shoulder.
