Always Look on The Bright Side of Life: Part 1
The sun shone brightly through the window as Radiant stirred in his bed, as he tried his best to snatch just a few more minutes of sleep before starting his daily routine. Life in Canterlot was a different adventure every day, and attending the fabled Canterlot High School only amplified these adventures. In the time he had spent at that school a plethora of events from a evil girl trying to rule the school with magic, three dangerous yet seductive sirens, and the fabric of reality being torn apart by otherworldly magic thanks to a group of snobby students from another school Radiant quickly accepted the fact that his life was gonna get even more hectic. After several minutes of tossing and turning Radiant rose up and yawned and stretched as his joints popped and cracked.
“Dear Celestia am I sore that's the last time I work out with Rainbow.” He said standing up and walking to the bathroom, as a cool breeze traveled through his house. “Hmmm?” Radiant said shivering as he looked into his living room. “Funny, I don’t remember leaving my window open.” He said walking over to close it before returning to the bathroom. “Yeesh, I didn’t realize my beard had gotten this wild.” Radiant said rubbing his face before reaching into his cabinet and taking out his clippers. “Might as well shave the sides and back of my hair again.” He continued to say as his hair fell to the floor with each buzz. After thirty minutes passed he looked at his new hair and freshly trimmed beard. He smiled and swept up his hair throwing it in a nearby trash can.
He put his broom and dustpan back in the closest as he began to strip down, throwing his clothes into the bathroom hamper. As he stepped into the shower a large shadow ran past the door causing him to stop and stick his head out the door. He looked left and right but after seeing nothing he shrugged and hopped in the shower and turned it on, as the lukewarm water crashed against his gray skin he shuddered in pleasure and let out a peaceful sigh. She said as Radiant turned around and headed for the closest as Rainbow began to panic. “It is my fault now get the fuck out of my room and wait for me outside in the living room!” Radiant yelled in an annoyed tone as Rainbow shuffled into the living room trying her best not to cry but her walls quickly fell. She sat on the couch sniffling and softly sobbing. Hearing the sobs Radiant lets out a deep sigh and gets dressed. “Damn you Rainbow, you always know how to get to me.” He said stepping into the living room as he fastened his watch and sat next to her and put his arm around her.“Look Rainbow I’m sorry I yelled it’s just stuff like that is still a sensitive subject for me. Look I’ll make it up to you at lunch today how about you ask Pinkie, if she is ok with sharing me than I’ll let you join in, but only if she says yes.” He said as her eyes lit up and she hugged him tightly and squealed slightly. “Now, come on we're gonna be late for school.” Radiant said as Rainbow and him left the house and walked to the bus stop.
A cool breeze brushed their skin as they climbed into the bus and took their seats. Radiant pulled out his phone and began browsing the web for cars. Radiant didn’t mind walking to school or riding the bus, but having a car would make traveling easier and allow him to take his friends places every once and awhile. Granted all the girls had their own vehicles but radiant always like the idea of a road trip with his friends. As he scrolled through the listings Rainbow looked over his shoulder wanting to help she points to a car.
“Find more like that...Sedans are good for light traveling plus that make and model is good on gas.” She said as Radiant smiled and click the picture of the car.
“Hmmm, Subaru Outback...only six thousand? Damn that's a good deal, I wonder who the seller is?” Radiant said looking for more information about the listing, his eyes widened when he read the name of the poster. “Vinyl Scratch, isn't that the girl who always has her headphones on?” Radiant asked as Rainbow thought for a second.
“Ya I have history with her and she sits next to me so I’ll tell her you're interested, but how are you gonna up with Six thousand bits?” Rainbow asked as Radian chuckled looked at her.
“I still have like thirty thousand bits left over from my grandfather's inheritance.” He said locking his phone and putting it back into his pocket. “When I turned eighteen he said I was entitled to fifty thousand bits and I spent roughly fifteen thousand on the house and furniture and a cool five thousand on games and tech.” He said as Rainbow laughed softly.
“Dude your such a nerd I’m surprised you didn’t end up with Twilight you two are like twins.” Rainbow said as Radiant jokingly slugged her in the arm.
“What can I say, I’ve had a thing for Pinkie since freshman year. Twilight would have made a great girlfriend but me and Pinkie just...clicked better ya know?” The bus turned and pulled into the parking lot as Rainbow stretched and stood up following radiant into school.
“Well, opposites attract I guess but you do have a point, you, and Pinkie are a cute couple.” Rainbow said smiling as they headed into the gym and sat with the rest of their friends. Radiant had been friends with Pinkie and the others since they started at CHS back in their freshman year. Back then things were rough for Radiant as he was having trouble adjusting to living on his own in a new city. His parents loved him dearly but due to their line of work they were constantly leaving radiant by himself. So, when he turned fifteen they sent him to Canterlot and used their money to keep him in his own home and kept him fed. When he first walked into the doors of CHS he was a shy kid who barely talked to anyone. That was until he met a pink skinned bubbly freshman named Pinkie Pie.
After one conversation the two became friends and within a few days Pinkie had introduced him to her friends and they naturally stuck to Radiant. As the months went on Radiant and the girls began to hang out more and more until they never did anything without first inviting Radiant. After the fight a broken Sunset begged for forgiveness and slowly but surely she was forgiven and soon became friends with everyone including Radiant who was in charge of keeping an eye on her should she try something again but to his surprise she had no plans of going back to her old self. Shortly after this incident Radiant swallowed his fear and asked Pinkie out. To his surprise she said yes before he could even finish his sentence and under the soft moonlight they shared a single kiss and from then on the rest was history. Radiant took his seat on the bleachers as he stretched out waiting for the bell to ring.

“Ya well what can I say, I was never much of a Casanova. Hell if it wasn’t for Sunset forcing me to ask her out at the fall formal I’d still be that shy kid that shrank and hid every time she walked by.” Radiant said smiling at Sunset as she smiled back.
“Ya speaking of which, Sunset why did you help Radiant like that? I mean after we gave you that crushing defeat, we thought for sure you would hate us for a while.” Rainbow said as Sunset lowered her head.
“Well, I saw it as an opportunity to at least make a good impression with someone, and after what I did I was determined to make at least have one person on my side to help ease me back into the school. After I became friends with Radiant the rest of you quickly followed and well...here I am today.
“Well, I’m glad you did Sunset being with Radiant has made me happier than I’ve ever been.” Pinkie said causing Radiant to blush at her words. There was a short pause as the two shared another kiss which caused Applejack to break the moment up before it got awkward.
“So, Radiant, Rainbow told me she gave you the scare of your life.” Applejack said chuckling at the idea of him getting scared. “The mighty Radiant who stared down the evil sirens without a shred of fear got scared by a five foot four girl with Rainbow hair.” The rest of girls laughed as Radiant joined in the laughter.
“Well, what can I say she caught me off guard.” Radiant said with a smile and shrugged away the thought. “Besides, Applejack wasn’t it me that made you drop a basket of apples when I snuck up behind you at your farm last week?” He asked with a smirk as Applejack smirked and stood up stretching.
“Fair point but I still have to get you back for that.” She said in a haunting tone as the bell rang and the students shuffled to their classes. As the morning went on Radiant couldn’t shake the thought of what happened earlier from his head. Although Pinkie doesn’t hold the incident with Adagio against Radiant since he was being controlled by the Sirens he still felt the need to go above and beyond for Pinkie both in the bedroom and in public. As he walked through the halls he took a deep breathe and put on a happy face as he walked into the lunchroom. From across the room Pinkie saw him and ran over taking his hand and kissing him on the cheek.
“C’mon silly billy everyone is waiting for you.” Pinkie said pulling Radiant through the lunchroom as people smiled at the sight almost as if Pinkie's smile was infecting the other students. They took a seat as she sat in his lap and leaned into him.

“Radiant do you know what to day is?” Fluttershy asked taking a bite from her apple. Radiant thinks long and hard before drawing a blank.

“Radiant today is yours and Pinkies three year anniversary remember? Three years ago today you asked her out.” Sunset said as it finally hit him.

“How about a nice dinner? I’ll take you to a nice restaurant than we can go back to my place for a movie hows that sound?” Radiant asked as Pinkie thought for a second before giving off a wide smile.
“Ok, but I get to pick the movie. Last time I let you choose a movie you chose a sappy romantic movie.” Pinkie said jabbing Radiant in his side as she got out of his lap and stood up.
“Hey Titanic is a classic, I thought a romantic movie would have been good for a first date.” Radiant said as Pinkie pulled him to his feet.
“C’mon you're coming with me.” Pinkie said pulling Radiant through the cafeteria. The girls looked on in confusion as Rainbow smirked. “Radiant this is Vinyl Scratch. I talked to her and she said if you got the cash she can give you the car today.” Rainbow said as Vinyl raised her head and removed her headphones.
“You must be Radiant, it’s nice to meet ya dude.” Vinyl said in a tone that resembled Rainbows. “I got the car over there if you wanna take a look at it.” She said pointing to a black car in perfect condition.
“Wow it looks immaculate, but how old is it and why are you selling it?” Radiant asked as Vinyl as she blushed and gave off a smile giggle.
“Well, I’ve had it for two years but since my girlfriend Octavia has a car now we just use hers. So, I figured I would sell it so me and Tavi could have a little spending money.” Vinyl said opening the hood of the car as Radiant took a look at the engine.
“Ok Vinyl you have taken perfect care of this car I’ll take it.” Radiant said pulling out his wallet and searching.
“Shit I only have three hundred bits on me. Hey Vinyl mind driving me to the bank so I can pull out the rest?” Radiant asked as Vinyl shrugged.
“Why the hell not hop in.” Vinyl said as the two climbed into the car and drove off. “So, Rainbow told me today is yours and Pinkies three year anniversary.” Vinyl said as radiant blushed turning the steering wheel.
“Ya it was three years ago today that I asked her out and we shared a kiss in the moonlight.” Radiant said with a soft smile as Vinyl joined in.

“I’m gonna go home with Radiant for a few Rainbow. Can you drop my car off oh and feel free to make yourself at home.” Rainbow nodded as Rainbow drove off and Radiant began driving back to his house. “So, Radiant did you pick a place for us to eat?” Pinkie asked as Radiant smiled.
“Actually I changed my mind, I plan to cook for you. A nice romantic candlelit dinner just the two of us a nice bottle of wine and a movie to finish off the night. Plus I have a little surprise for you later tonight.” Radiant said as a dark blush came across Pinkie's face causing her to giggle softly. Radiant pulled into his driveway as he carried Pinkie inside and set her down on his couch as she bounced up and down with a soft snortle. “Ok sweetie you make yourself at home and I’ll go out and get the ingredients, and your surprise.” Radiant said with a smile as Pinkie kissed him goodbye and plopped down onto his couch, and kicked off her choose letting out a sigh of relief.
“I wonder what surprise he was talking about I mean what else could he give me? He spends every moment he can with me, we goes above and beyond to make me happy even though I would still be with him no matter what. What else could someone give their significant other?” Pinkie asked herself as she let out a yawn and stretched out. “Radiant is an odd guy who knows what he has planned.” She said closing her eyes and falling asleep.
