It wasn't long before the chunks of hay and logs came falling from the clear blue sky.
It hit the ground with a thud, propelling dust upwards lightly. The three ponies who were nearest to the first fallen logs turned to each other in serious discussion, their words urgent, their glances swift and sharp as they looked up at the innocent clouds.
The normal ponies didn't seem to have such a huge problem with randomly falling haystacks just plopping on their table.
One of the small fillies that was prancing sideways to another table that her friend was sitting at caught a few words of the three elder ponies conversation and discreetly inch towards them little by little, her light-turquoise eyes widening as she realized what they were discussing.
The mare with the daffodil-yellow coat and a blue mane with lighter blues streaking through it gently had been talking quickly.
"We need to warn the Princesses and everypony about the recent weather patterns, Clear Skies. If we don't, the whole of Equestria is at risk from a tornado that has enough power to ruin ponykind." Her honey-sweet voice had a edge to it as she stared expectantly at her two companions.
"Yes, I agree Sunshower," The lavender mare responded hastily, her vibrant lilac eyes glinting nervously. "But we cannot just send the whole country into a state of panic for this.. What if we are wrong then? They will never trust us again."
Sunshower then appealed to Open Skies, her gaze sharper than flint as she silently urged him to agree with her earlier statement. The teal stallion's ears twitched uncomfortably as he hesitantly replied with, "I agree with what you said," His deep voice quavered slightly, not in fear of the formidable Weather Control mare, but of the oncoming tornado.
"But I also say we should not tell the citizens. It will induce mass chaos and that's the last thing we need at the moment, to have ponies running around and crying about certain and imminent death."
A growl rumbled in Sunshower's throat, making the other two flinch. Although she had the looks of a gentle pony, she was known for her sharp tongue and ready scorn once she got past her 'misunderstandings', and it didn't help the matter once they found out she served in the Equestrian military for five years, and was stationed in Yakyakistan during The Yak War for two.
Clear Skies shrugged, still looking majorly uncomfortable about the situation. Open Skies groaned before saying, "Fine. You can do what you want, and we'll do what we think is best."
Sunshower narrowed her eyes before responding. "We're going with your way, if that's the only way we can still work together." Clear Skies looked quite surprised, her mouth opening and closing with no words coming out.
"Cut that out, you look like a fish." Sunshower snapped, though somewhat affectionately. Open Skies cleared his throat before saying, "Why? You want us to all work together?"
The daffodil-yellow pegasus nodded. "I suppose you're right about the mass pandemonium part." She muttered ungraciously. Clear Skies smiled brightly for the first time in days.
"Well then, I suppose it's sorted-" She suddenly caught sight of the small filly listening in on their conversation. And fortunately for her, she knew exactly who it was.
"Aura! Come over here right now!" The lavender filly jumped guiltily before plodding to the group with her head down, her hooves scuffling the dirt. Clear Skies looked sternly at Aura, her eyes narrowed with irritation. "I thought your mother taught you not to eavesdrop on conversations, Aura, especially on confidential ones. I'm severely disappointed in you."
Aura raised her head, a defiant gleam in her eyes. "If it's so confidential, why are you talking out here where anyone can creep up on you?!" She shot back, her anger boiling over. Clear Skies opened her mouth, prepared to talk some sense into her before Sunshower interrupted her.
"No, she's right," The pegasus stated thoughtfully, staring at Aura with a firm gaze. Clear Skies thought she saw a flicker of admiration in her eyes but it was gone before she could be sure.
Aura smirked at Clear Skies, who glared right back in vexation. "However, I do need you to keep what you heard a secret. You know why if you really have been listening to the conversation, yes?" Sunshower asked briskly, getting up to dust her hooves off lightly.
Aura nodded, her eyes serious as she pledged to not tell.
