When Metamorph broke the news to Nightshade, her response was rather unexpected: instead of freaking out or getting upset, she was thrilled. Pulling him into a hug and telling how amazing it would be to have a foal with him, and how happy sapphire would be, having a little brother or sister. So, for the next few weeks, they spent their time telling their families about it. And although everything was exciting and lovely, Nightshade was soon unable to attend to her duties; forced to stay in bed and not stress out the baby. So Metamorph was dealing with most of the physical work, and came back to their room often to check on her and discuss the details of change in Equestria. Sapphire was also helping with taking care of Nightshade, in fact, she almost never left her side.

Over time she had become accustomed to the routine Nightshade had to go through, and she was more than happy to help Nightshade relax whenever she felt contractions. It would be a lie to say that they faced no problems with a baby on the way; Nightshade was extremely emotional and paired with her unnatural magic, she often made passing ponies float or dark crystals would grow around her bed and door.

But regardless, Sapphire and Metamorph were never too far, and managed to calm her down to some degree. So when the time came for the birthing of the baby, they stayed right with her, offering more than a enough comfort to keep her from kicking one of the doctors in the face. And after half an hour, Nightshade had the little half pony changeling in her arms, wrapped in a soft blue blanket. Nightshade couldn't fight the urge to cry, and neither could Metamorph, as they gazed down at the face of their son, they felt like they could truly become a family.
