Vengeance at nightfall

(Chapter 60 finale) safety and patience

Nightshade sat down in the Canterlot gardens, looking over the horizon as a breeze ran over her coat. Metamorph had joined her as they sat and looked out at the sky, a sky that glowed with beautiful reds, oranges, and pinks as the sun began to set.

“we did it, we changed Equestria,”

Nightshade said, as she smiled and leaned closer to her husband.

“and now our son has a chance at a better life as well,”

Metamorph held her close, keeping his hoof rested on her hip as she snuggled up to him.

“you're right, but it's only the beginning of a whole new way of life for Equestria,”

He leaned down and kissed his wife's forehead, just below the base of her horn.

“speaking of which, when should our little Mantis be on his way back?”

Nightshade thought for a moment, before answering him.

“I think it'll be time to pick him up around three thirty, we can go together if you'd like,”

He smiled and looked down at her,

“I think I'd like that,”

Nightshade smiled back, and leaned up to kiss him with a deep passion.

And soon as the time came they both went to pick up their son from his first day at school, and the say that he was happy was an understatement. Mantis was more excited about his first day than ever, and he practically skipped his entire way back to the castle while talking about his day. And for the first time in a long time, Equestria felt more welcoming than ever to not only Nightshade, but Metamorph as well, especially in their newfound home.
