A man of the woods, they call him. It's an accurate statement; just not in the way most would expect. Considering the closest village has all of three Mages, it's no wonder Dirk is only considered a recluse and not a thing more. Sure saves him some precious time.
On the other hand, maybe if he was being watched constantly, he wouldn't have walked straight into Equestria where it's basically impossible to hide any magical ability.
Sure, he won't have his peace and quiet but it'll be just like living at home! A loner livin' on his own in the woods, a small way from the nearest village. Well, the citizens are all (almost)ponies but he can kind of ignore that. Especially when so much is coming up that he can barely focus his thoughts.

I rewrote this. The original was absolute garbage in my opinion and I decided that since this was my first second written story, it would get a second chance at life.
