One late October night, August and her friends Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon decided to explore a haunted house. “This home, in particular, belonged to the late Partridge family. The daughter, Macy, passed away because her mother starved her to death, and it’s said that her ghost still haunts these very halls.” Tambry laughs. “Psh. Yeah right, Silver. Like we’re going to fall for that one.” Diamond snickers. “It’s true! I saw her here once! She was white and had no eyes!” “Yeah, and August is a tomato. Get real. Come on, get real.” Diamond laughs. “Come on, Diamond. Can we go? I don’t like it here…” Silver cowers behind her friend. “Ugh, fine. August, you coming?” “Nah, I think I’ll stay here, just to prove there’s nothing here.” “Okay. We’ll be by in the morning to get you, okay?” Diamond says, slightly nervous. “Okay! See you tomorrow!” August hugs her friends, and they leave. She fixes her green and red sweater and pulls up her shorts the best she can over her distended belly, then heads off into the house further.
As August roams the dusty halls of the old victorian-style home, she can’t help but feel watched. Every few feet she stops and looks around, secretly wishing she had gone with her friends. Luckily for her, since she was a jill o’lantern, her already pudgy belly and her cute little face made it easy to see in the dark, damp halls of the abandoned home. When she turns the corner at the end of the hall, she sees a small light from under the door. “Isn’t this place supposed to be abandoned?” She asks herself, looking through a small hole in the door. Inside was a girl, about the age of 15, but she wasn’t an ordinary girl. She was thin and frail-looking with sunken in eyes, and she was glowing softly. Her clothes looked much too big for her, her white nightgown hanging loosely from her body. “The ghost!” August thinks, and goes to back away from the door when a small voice, not unlike Fluttershy’s, comes from the room. “Hello? Is-Is anyone there?” August stopped. The girl sounded as scared as she was. August decided to slowly open the door. “Hello? Are...are you M-Macy?” August gulped, trying not to stutter. “Yes..who are you? Where’s my daddy?” “I-I don’t know...this house has been empty for a hundred years.” The girl starts to weep. A soft, hartfelt sob. “Please...help me….” The girl turns to Augustand screams. Her face distorts to a bloody, black and blue mess. August screams and runs out of the house as fast as she can. But the girl catches her and phases into August’s body. She blinks a few times and giggles. “Hehe. Sorry, August. Just borrowing it.” She looks up to a floating orb of orange light. “See you next year~”
