Through the Darkest Night

Equestria, a vast nation spanning thousands of miles from sea to shining sea, from the Yakyakistani tundra, north of the Crystal empire, to past the badlands, all the way south to the jungles of Neighcaragua.

For over a millennia the Divine sisters have lain claim to the rule of any land inhabited by their ponies, Princesses Celestia and Luna.

Having grown up on the fringes of Equestria, and in fact, society in general, Starlight Shimmer did not really hear or care a great deal about these de facto rulers when she decided to take over the village she had lived in half her life.

When she was discovered and finally defeated by what were essentially the royal gem team six, and then afterwards sought malicious revenge, this ruler, Princess Celestia, chose for some reason not to banish her to the pits of tartarus for her crimes.

She in fact, raised no protest or even seemed to mind in the least when her former student, Princess Twilight, not only let her go without punishment, but instead decided to take Starlight on as her student.

And now, a week or two later, The thousand year herald of the sun and ruler of all pony-kind, Celestia, is coming over to meet in person her old friend's new student.
A vastly powerful, misanthropic, deranged criminal.

Talk about a good first impression.

Authors notes:
I hope you enjoy, I don't write a great deal, preferring to just imagine instead.

I put this on Mature so that you know nothing is off the table, but clop, romance, comedy or gore are unlikely as I use them only as is strictly necessary.

But don't go in thinking this is going to be a fluff story, even if I don't use the mature themes heavily, the story is intended for a mature and fairly advanced audience even if my writing is inadequate for them.

And yes, I really love references, but I will at least try to make them a bit subtle.
