And So It Begins
A custodian walked through the halls of Canterlot High making sure everything was locked up. "Well eveything is locked." The man was about to lock the front doors when the earth suddenly shook. "Earthquake?"
Suddenly the earth began to crack open. Red light started to fill the room. Then a deep voice was heard. "Finally! After a thousand years, I am free!" A shadowy hand shot up from the ground.
"What the?!?" The custodian jumped back.
The hand was followed by an arm, and then the rest of the body. The creature's body was made from shadows. It wore purple armor. Its eyes were blood red. The creature looked at the man and gave a wicked smile. "Boo."
"AHHHHH!" He ran out the main door without locking it.
"I love messing with mortals," said the creature with a chuckle. "Now to go find some to take control of." The creature disappeared into the night, with the cracks having been mended.
Sunset ran down the hall to Principal Celestia's office. When she got the urgent message from one of her friends she knew she had to get there quick. She finally made it to the room. When she knocked the door opened and Sunset was pulled in. She saw all her friends and the two principals. "What's going on?" she asked.
"We fear there may be some dark magic afoot," said Principal Celestia. "We captured something on the security fotage last night." Principal Celestia turned her computer monitor so Sunset could see it. Celestia hit play and the scene from last night played out. Sunset looked on in shock. The screen turned black after the video finished. "We do not know the cause of it," said Celestia. "We are fearing the worst."
Sunset began to think about the situation as a whole. She then thought of one person who did not leave school when the others had left. The new guy, Golden Rise, son of Maximillion Pegasus. "Golden."
"What was that darling?" asked Rarity
"Gold, the new guy. He left the school late last night acording to the cameras. This may be his doing," explained Sunset
"Wait, wait, wait," said Rainbow. "Me and Shy knew Gold before he left, and he never had any powers. Even if he does have them there will be no way he did this."
"You maybe right Rainbow, but he is our main suspect right now there is only one way to check." Sunset raised her hand. "If I can read his mind, then we will know the truth."
Sunset walked out of the room, and the others followed. The group walked outside and found Gold leaning against the podium. He was drawing something in a brown book.
"Hey Gold," callled out Sunset.
Gold looked up and saw the incoming group. "Oh hey Sunset, girls. Good to see you."
"Yeah, you too. Do you mind telling us what you were doing in school last night?" Sunset cut right to the chase.
Gold started to sweat and his hands figited. "I forgot something and one of the janitors let me in." Gold tried to stay calm.
"We all know thats not true," said Sunset with a stern look." I was hopping not to do this, but you leave me no choice." Sunset grabbed Gold's arm. Her eyes glowed white as she saw the past.
Gold walked up to a figure in a dark cloak. "You don't belong here Shade."
The figure turned and gave a dark chuckle. "I didn't know the Pharaoh's brother would choose someone like this."
"Sorry to disappoint Shade but this is full Gold. The one you speak of told me to come here. And now I know why. You will be stopped before he is released." Gold activated his duel disk.
"Well then, I'll make sure your soul is used as a sacrifice." Shade activated his duel disk.
"Let's duel!"
Gold:4000
"I'll go first. I summon out Statue of the Holy."
Statue of the Holy
A stone angel appeared on the feild. "Then I'll place two cards facedown and end my turn." A card appeared on either side of the statue.
"My move. I draw." Shade added the card to his hand. "I banish one Zombie type monster to special summon Zombie King."
Zombie King
A zombie came onto the feild. It had dark purple skin, wore black armor and had a gold crown on its head.
"Well since you did that I can use my Statue's effect. I destroy it and bring out two Spirit Tokens." Gold sent his statue to the Graveyard. Two spheres of light appeared on the feild.

"No matter, my Zombie King will put a huge dent in your life points." Zombie King charged forward and sliced through one of the lights. The full force of the attack hit Gold. He dropped to one of his knees. "Pathetic as always."
Gold: 1200
Gold pushed himself up. "You may have lowered my life points, but I am winning this duel." Gold drew is card. 'Perfect.' "I activate Imperial Iron Wall."

"Now neither of us can banish monsters. "
"NO!" Shade was now scared.
Gold gave a determined smile. "Now I'll sacrifice both of my tokens to summon out Crimson Dragon."
Crimson Dragon
A dragon descended from the sky. It had bright red scales, a dark red underbelly, and crystal wings. It gave a mighty roar as it landed. "And with no zombies to banish your King's effect cannot be activated."
"This can't be!" cried Shade.
"So say goodbye to your monster." Crimson Dragon fired a red ball of energy and destroyed Zombie King.

"And now, Crimson Dragon, attack Shade straight directly!"
Crimson Dragon gathered up alot of energy. Once the energy was at its peak, Crimson let it fly.
"NNNOOOOOO!"
Gold: 1200
The image faded away.
Sunset let go of Gold's arm. "You weren't causing the problem, you were fixing it." Sunset put a hand to her head.
"Well if you came to me, then I guess The Shadow Lord is freed." Gold looked to Burst, Inferno, Steele, and Star. "And were going to need all the help we can get."
The Tournament of Destiny
Gold had gathered Burst, Inferno, Steele, and Star into one of the empty classrooms. "Ok, what is going on?" asked Star.
"Were still waiting for two." Ace and Thunder came walking in. "Ok, now that everyone is here I will explain." Gold looked at the guys gathered. "Awhile back I was visited by the spirit of the Pharoah`s brother. He told me about a user of dark magic known as Shade. He said that Shade would try and reawakening The Shadow Lord. Last night I tried to stop him but he somehow suffered. The only way to stop him now is with the Millenium items, and we are the bewildered of those items."
"So we were all descended to save the world?" asked Burst.
"Not just this world, but the monster world as well," said Gold. Suddenly Crimson Dragon materialized next to him.
"We seek the help of all of you," said Crimson.
Blue Eyes materialized next to Burst. "Brother?"
The room fell silent. Crimson walked forward to Blue Eyes. "Its good to see you too brother. It has been quite awhile since we last seen each other."
"Wait, you two are brothers?!?" asked a befuddled Burst.
"Yes. Long ago we were separated a long time ago. I helped seal.The Shadow Master away. Unfortunatly I had to sacrifice my body to keep the seal, but the Pharaoh`s brother helped me become myself again. And now it's time to go against him. We will end this once and for all." When Crimson finished his speech the others were ready to help.
"Lets rise to the occasion." Gold stuck his hand out and the others stacked their hands on his. "Let's duel!"
After the group's little meeting, Star was excited to help save the world. He wouldn't stop raving about it to Fluttershy as they walked home. "And me and the others will save the day."
Fluttershy giggled at Star's excitement. "Well I hope that isn't a full time job." She kissed Star's cheek.
"What a lovely site," said a ghostly voice.
"Who's there?" asked Star. He stepped in front of Fluttershy to protect her from the unseen enemy.
Suddenly the world around them became covered in a purple haze. The only thing the two could see was the sidewalk. A figure stepped out of the haze. The figure was a knight in black and dark grey armor,it's eyes were a dark purple, and it held a sword that had five duel slots on it. "Hello Star, prepare to fall at the hands of.... Nightmare Knight!"
"Who are you?" asked Fluttershy.
"I am one of The Shadow Lord's top generals. I am here to trap Star's soul in the Millennium Puzzel." Knight brought the puzzle out from behind him. "I suggest you come peacefully."
"Not a chance. Gold already warned us about the Shadow Lord, and now I will reclaim that puzzel." Star pulled out his duel disk.
"Have it your way," said Knight. A deck slot and cards materialized on the hilt of the sword.
"Let's duel!"
Star:4000
"I'll start this duel off. I summon out Celestial HERO Reflector in defense mode," said Star.

A humanoid mechanism appeared on the field. It had silver plating, gold accents, and a shield with a mirror on it. "Then I'll place one card face down and end my turn."
"My move. I draw." Knight added the new card to his hand. "I'll start by summoning out, Daybreak Pawn in Attack mode."

A small warrior in white armor appeared on the field. It wielded a yellow lance and had a gold feather on his helmet. "And now that it's on the field, I can bring out two more of it." Two more warriors in white armor appeared on the field.
'Apparently this guy likes chess,' thought Star.
"Now I'll overlay my three pawns." The three monsters turned into purple lights that went through a portal. "Now I Xyz summon, Nightmare King."
Nightmare King
The purple haze began to form into a figure. Once the figure was formed it gave off a low growl. The figure was taller than either of the idealist. It wore a purple robe, black cape, and a dark grey crown. In its shadow grasp was a black staff with a purple jewelry on top. "Then I'll play Chains of Darkness."
Chains of Darkness
Black chains wrapped around Reflector. "What did you just activate?" asked Star.
"Just a little card to keep you from using your monsters effect. Now with him out of the way, I will remove one overlay unit from my monster to activate his effect." One of the orbs of light disappeared into the jewelry on the staff. Black energy surrounded the two monsters.
Celestial HERO Reflector: 0
"That isn't good," said a worried Star.
"Then I'll equip him my King with Piercing Lance."
Piercing Lance
A black lance appeared in Nightmare King`s other hand.
"And this is worse."
"Now my King destroy his Reflector," commanded Knight. Nightmare King brought the lance down and destroyed Reflector. The resulting shock wave pushed Star back a bit.
Star:2400
"That hurt more then I thought," said Star.
"I'll end my turn with a face down." Knight placed another card down.
'I need a way to destroy that magic card of his, but he's probably protecting it with that face down. I need a way to bring down his entire field in one shot.' "I draw." Star added the new card to his hand. "Now I'll activate Pot of Greed."

Star looked at his two new cards. A big smile grew on his face. 'Perfect.' "I'll start off by activating Remove Trap."

Knight's facedown was destroyed. "And with that out of the way I activate Mystical Space Typhoon."

"Say goodbye to your Chains of Darkness." Knight`s spell was destroyed.
"I see you got the cards you wanted," said Knight. "Lucky draw."
"Its not about luck, it's about believing in yourself and your cards," said Star. "As long as you stay strong you will not be defeated." Suddenly the top card of Star`s deck began to glow. "What the?"
"Just continue with your pathetic turn," said an annoyed Knight.
"I'll set one monster face down, and one card face down to end my turn."
"I draw. I activate King`s Rule."
King 's Rule
"Now your monster returns to your hand." Star removed his monster from his duel disk. "Now, Nightmare King, attack him directly." Nightmare King brought down his staff onto Star.
"Ahh." Star fell to one knee.
Star: 800
"Star! Are you OK?" asked Fluttershy.
"Yeah, I'm fine," said Star getting back up. 'I need to end this duel before I'm finished.'
"That ends my turn. Make your last pathetic move weakling."
"I draw." Star drew his new card. He took a look at it his card. 'Never seen this before.'
"Get on with it."
'Let's see what this can do.' "I activate Millenium Seal: Warriors United."

A symbol, like the one on the Millenium Puzzel appeared on the field. "No! This can't be!"
"Now I summon out, Divine HERO Eternal Lord."
Divine HERO Eternal Overlord
A warrior in yellow and white armor appeared on the field. It had a white cape and silver blade. It stood as tall as Nightmare King. "And now I can summon out two more warriors. So say hello to Celestial HERO Valkyrie and Celestial HERO Leo."

A maiden appeared on the field. She wore a blue leotard with blue and gold accents and bracelets. She had a blue faceplate and armor. The second monster looked like a humanoid lion. It had red armor with gold highlights. "And thanks to Divine Lord your King is now in Defense mode."
Nightmare King dropped to one knee. "No, I am defenseless."
"Not yet you aren't. Leo attack his King." Leo charged forward and sliced through Nightmare King, destroying him.
"I was supposed to win!" yelled Knight.
"Well you aren't. Valkyrie, Divine Lord attack him directly."
"Say goodnight," said Valkyrie. Divine Lord launched her into the air. Divine sliced through Knight and Valkyrie came down with a fiery kick.
"NOOOOOO!" Knight was sent flying into the purple haze.
Star: 800
The Millenium Puzzel flew to Star. "Sweet!"
Fluttershy ran to Star as the purple haze vanished. "You did it Star."
"Yeah I did." Then something clicked in his head. "We have to go tell the others."
Before Fluttershy could say anything, Star was already running back towards the school. Fluttershy quickly followed. The two finally made it to the school, only to see it covered in the purple haze. "That's not good," said Star.
"We should go in and see if we can help," suggested Fluttershy.
"Yeah. Let's go." The two ran into the unknown.

I hope all of you liked this chapter. It was really fun to write and I hoped you enjoyed it. I just wanted to thank fluttershysone for letting me use Starand custom deck. The Tournament of Destiny
Burst and Inferno had broken off from the group to go talk to Celestia and Rarity. "Are you sure you want to tell them?" asked Inferno. "We don't need to worry them."
"They have a right to know, Inferno. They can't just be left in the dark." The two made it to Celestia's office. But when Burst tried the door, it was locked. "That's odd."
"AAAHHHHHHHHH!"
"That sounded like Rarity," said Inferno.
"Let's get in there!" Burst rushed into the door, and knocked it open. When the two came in they saw Celestia and Rarity tied up. In front of them were two figures. One was a man with a red top hat, and green robe that covered his entire body. The ropes came from underneath the robe. The second figure was a skeletal looking black dragon.
"You have them trapped?" asked the dragon.
"It's not as simple as it looks," said the one in the red top hat.
"Your name is Trap Master." The dragon was getting annoyed.
"Hey!" called out Burst.
The two turned around, and the dragon gave a devilish smile. "Well, well, well. I was wondering when you two were going to show up. Your souls will be the perfect trophy for Shadow Master."
"Were not going to give up our souls," said Inferno.
"We'll duel you," said Burst.
"All three of use," said the dragon.
"Three of use?" asked Burst. The two of them were suddenly pushed to the ground.
Behind them stood a figure wearing a purple and white robe with gold at the end of the sleeves. "Welcome gentlemen, to your demise," it said. "I'll just be taking your souls now." But before the figure could do anything, he was thrown into the wall.
"Not on my watch." Steele and Rainbow were now where the figure was standing. "Rainbow, go help Celestia and Rarity. Me and the guys got these three."
"Right." Rainbow ran cover and started to try and free the girls.
"That's it. I, Summoner Monk, will not be defeated by the likes of you." The figure stood up. Five deck slots appeared in front of him. A skeletal duel disk appeared on the dragon's arm. A buzz saw with five duel slots came out of the other guys robe.
"If it's a duel you want, it's a duel you'll get," said Burst. The three of them activated their duel disk.
"Let's duel!"
Trap Master, Beserk Dragon, Summoner Monk: 12000
"I'll make the first move," said Burst. "I'll start by summoning out, Maiden with Eyes of Blue in defense mode."

A women dressed in a light brown and blue dress, with light blue hair appeared on the field. "Then I'll place one card face down and end my turn."
"I draw." Inferno added the new card to his hand. "First I'll play Red-Eyes Fusion."

"Now I'll send Summon Skull and Red-Eyes Black Dragon to the graveyard to fusion summon Archfiend Black Skull Dragon."

Defense: 2500
A fiery Dragon with black and red scales appeared on the field. "Get ready to burn," it said.
"I'll end my turn with a face down," said Inferno.
"I draw." Steele drew his first card. "I'll set one monster facedown, and one card face down to end my turn."
"Now it's my move," said Beserk.
"Who said you could go," said Monk. "Who died and made you leader?"
"Would you two shut up," said Trap Master. "We have a duel to win."
"You mean I have a duel to win. You two will spend the rest of the time in the graveyard." Beserk drew his first card. "First I'll activate Pot of Greed."

Beserk drew his two card. "Now I'll activate Polymerization to fuse the five Dragon type monsters in my hand to summon out Five Headed Dragon."
"Not quite Beserk. By changing my Maiden to attack mode I can negate your card's effect and special summon one Blue-Eyes White Dragon."
Blue-Eyes White Dragon
Blue-Eyes came onto the field. "You will feel the power of the light," he said.
"So you stopped my card, but now you can't stop my second Polymerazation." Beserk gave a toothy grin.
"Two Polymerazations on the same draw?!?" asked Burst, Inferno, and Steele at the same time.
"And now I bring forth Five Headed Dragon."

Defense: 5000
A giant Dragon appeared on the field. It had five heads. One was a blue serpent, another a black dragon, another a fire dragon, another a yellow dragon, and another a metallic dragon. "Now I'll be taking both of your cards," said Beserk to Trap Master and Summoner Monk. He grabbed the cards in both of their hands and pushed them away, into the shadows.
"Did that just happen?" asked Inferno.
"Now I'll activate Shadow Cards."

"Now I'll discard four cards to special summon four Shadow Copies."

"Now I can bring forth an army of dragons." Four more Five Headed Dragons appeared.
"That's not good," said Burst.
"Then I'll have all of them attack you three." All five dragons charged a blast and fired wiping out all three of their fields.
"I activate Saviors Light," said Burst.

Beserk: 12000
The three guys were pushed back from the blast. "No matter, you three will lose next turn."
Burst was the first to get up. "We will not lose this duel as long as we stand strong."
Inferno got up. "And we'll stand together to the end."
Steele then joined in. "And we will always defeat evil."
"Because we are the Millenium Guardians." The top card of each of their decks glowed.
"I draw," said Burst. "I'll activate Millenium Seal: Souls Savior."

The Millenium Seal appeared on the ground. "Now all our monsters return to the field." Each of the destroyed monsters were now back on the field. "Now I'll throw it cover to Inferno."
"Thanks, I draw." Inferno drew his next card. "Now I activate Millenium Seal: Light's Return."

"Now all our monsters are Light attribute. Now it's to you Steele." Inferno gave a thumbs up.
"Right. I draw. Now I'll activate Millenium Seal: King 's Hand."

"I would say do the math but you already know it's too late."
"No, it can't be," said a shocked Beserk.
"And now it's cover," said the three heroes. "Full on attack." All their monsters brought down Beserk's monsters.
"NNNOOOOOOO!" Beserk disappeared into the darkness.
"And that ends it," said Burst.
Beserk: 0
Three Millenium items appeared in front of the guys. Burst received the Millenium Rod, Inferno received the Millenium Key, and Steele received the Millenium Necklace.
"Ahh why do I get the necklace," said Steele.
The girls ran cover to the three and hugged their respective significant other.
"Thank you for saving us," said Rarity.
"No problem, it's what we do," boasted Inferno.
Burst thought about what they should do next. "We should go find Gold and warn him about these new guys." The others agreed and headed off to find Gold.
They found him in a bad situation. He was dueling a figure dressed in purple armor who was dueling with a shadow duel disk. Gold 's lifepoints were at 10, and the others were at 10000.
"This isn't good," said Burst.
Author's Note
How did Gold end up in this situation and who is this new figure? Well you'll have to wait a little longer to find out.
The Tournament of Destiny
Thunder and Ace had stayed in the classroom after the group's meeting. "So, what do we do?" asked Thunder.
"We can't do anything until the Shadow Master makes himself known," said Ace.
Suddenly the door opened, and someone came in. The new figure was a midnight blue skinned, silver haired teen. He had on a black t-shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and silver glasses. He saw the two and was surprised. "Oh I didn't realize their would be people in here. I'm Nightfall Silver and I'm looking for the library."
Ace walked up to him. "And speaking of the Shadow Master making himself known. Let's put a stop to your master."
"What are you talking about?" asked Nightfall.
"Enough talk, it's time to duel," said Thunder.
"Ok, this is crazy, but I guess theirs no getting out of this," said Nightfall.
"Let's duel!"
Thunder and Ace: 8000
"I'll go first," said Ace. "And I got a lucky hand. I activate Spell Sacrifice."

"Now I'll discard one Spell Card to special summon Dark Magician Girl."

Defense: 1700
Dark Magician Girl appeared on the field. "Your going back to where you came from," she stated.
"Still have no idea on what's going on," said Night.
"You won't need to," began Thunder
"Because you won't be around for that long," finished Ace. "I use The Eye of Timaeus."

"Now I'll use Dark Magician Girl to fusion summon Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight."

Dark Magician Girl disappeared one second and then reappeared with armor on a dragon. "Prepare to feel our wrath," they said together.
"That'll end my turn."
"My move, I draw," said Thunder. 'I should protect Ace. He has a powerful monster so if I can draw fire, he will win.' "I'll place one monster facedown and one card face down."
"Ok. Let's get this cover with," said Night. He drew his first card. "I'll start by summoning out Ancient Gear Hunting Hound."
Ancient Gear Hunting Hound
A green metal dog-looking creature appeared on the field. "And since I normal summoned him you both take 600 points of damage." The metallic dog gave off a powerful bark that lowered their life points.
Ace and Thunder: 6800
"Now I'll use his other special effect by using the four ancient gear monsters in my hand as fusion materials, so now I fusion summon Ancient Gear Chaos Giant."

A giant metallic figure appeared. It was made from purple and blue gears. "Hello there," it said.
"Huh, oddly friendly," said Ace. "But he won't be staying for long. I'll discard one card in my hand to destroy your monster." He discarded his card, and nothing happened. "Why isn't anything happening?"
"That could be because of me," said Giant.
"You see Giant is unaffected by your monsters' effects until after the battle phase, and he can attack both of your monsters while inflicting piercing battle damage on defense monsters."
"That's right, now ..... Chaos Gear Strick," called Giant. He raised both of his fist, and brought them down on both monsters. Ace and Thunder were pushed back from the shock wave.
Ace and Thunder: 1400
"Then I'll activate Ancient Gear Explosion."

"So now Ancient Gear Chaos Giant will do a vanishing act." Nightfall ducked down a bit. "I would suggest you do the same." Ace and Thunder hit the deck. Giant exploded and dropped their life points to zero.

"So I guess you aren't part of Shadow Masters grew. Sorry we didn't believe you," said Ace.
"Yeah sorry Night," said Thunder with a guilt stricken face.
"Its ok guys. You were going off of little information. No harm, no foul. But who is this Shadow Master?" asked Night.
"Well, long story short, he's someone that wants to destroy our world, and try to rule all others," explained Ace.
"I see. Well if you need an extra idealist you got one," said Night with a smile. "I'll be happy to help."
"Sweet," said Ace and Thunder.
All three suddenly beard slow clapping. "Good duel young ones," said a cool voice. Suddenly red strings cut through Ace and Thunders decks. "But I'll be taking those cards." Three red eyes glowed from the shadows. "Your cards are mine."
"I don't think so, stand down," commanded Night. The top card of his deck glowed. He pulled it and looked at the new card. "Ok. I activate Millenium Seal: Shadow Eliminator."

The millenium seal appeared on the ground. Ace's and Thunder's top cards glowed as well.
"I activate Millenium Seal: Dragon's Hoard." Thunder activated his card.
"I activate Millenium Seal: Spellcasters Ascend." Ace activated his card.

Ace's and Thunder's monsters came onto the field. "Now attack as one," the three of them said. All the monsters combined their powers and destroyed the shadowy figure.
"I will return," it said. Three Millenium items the appeared. The Millenium Ring, the Millenium Eye, and the Millenium Scales.
The Ring went to Ace, the Eye went to Thunder,and the Scales went to Night. "Now we have three of the Millenium items. Let's find Gold and tell home the good news," said Ace. The three ran off to go find Gold. When they found him, it was a bad site. Gold was on the ground, clothes smoking with 1 life point left. The figure facing him had cover 100000 life points.
"I guess this is a bad time for celebration," said Night.
"Yeah, it is," said the other two.
Author's Note
What happened to Gold? Why is the situation far worse than last time? Well, fret not, because those questioned will be answered next time.
Another chapter, another new occasion. Nightfall is like a brother for Gold.

Shadow Realm Part 4 and Ultimate Secret Revealed
Castle of Shadows
Shade was bowed in front of Shadow Master, but it was more out of fear then respect. "So, you failed me once again," said Shadow Master.
"But it wasn't my-" began Shade.
"SILENCE!" Shade immediately fell silent. "It appears that you can't follow simple instructions. Although you somehow freed me, so I thank you for that. But I am still very weak, I need another soul." Shadow Master stood up. "And your power to travel between world's is something I need." He stuck his hand out, and a purple haze covered him and Shade. "You have served your purpose Shade. You will not be missed." Shade disappeared into the purple haze." Now to find Gold and take his soul." Shadow Master disappeared.
Cantorlot High
Gold walked down the hall with Sunset close behind. "Please Gold, just stop and listen to me."
"Oh really? Listen to the person who invaded my mind. You and the others weren't supposed to know about this, only the guardians were supposed to know." Gold had finally stopped to talk to Sunset.
"Who cares if the others know?" asked Sunset.
"The more people that know, the more people that the Shadow Master can use against us."
"So what if I know about it? I can handle myself."
That seemed to break Gold. "NO you can't. You cannot fight the Shadow Master, and I don't want to lose you Sunset! I care about you, and I don't want to lose you!" The hallway fell silent.
Sunset had her mouth covered. "How long have you thought that?"
Gold took a deep breath and calmed down. "It started when I first met you. You are so kind and sweet, and you'll do anything to protect your friends. You are strong in your own way."
Sunset stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Gold. "I actually feel the same way."
"What do you mean?"
"When I first saw you I could tell you were a leader. You held yourself high, and always had a smile. But I took that away when I invaded your mind." Sunset began to tear up. "I'm sorry."
Now it was Gold 's turn to comfort Sunset. He turned around and gave Sunset a hug. "Its not your fault. I was just worried about our situation. I'm still the same old Gold." A big smile worked it's way onto Gold 's face. "Nothing can bring me down."
Sunset pulled away with a smile on her face. "Thanks. I needed that."
"No problem." Then Gold thought about something. "Hey Sunset, there is something that I need to tell you."
"Whatever it is, I am willing to listen," said Sunset.
"I have not told you the full truth about my life." Gold took a deep breath. "You see I'm-"
"Gold, where are you?" called a familiar voice.
"Dad?"
Maximillion Pegasus came from around the corner. He visible relaxed when he saw Gold. "I'm glad your ok."
"Its good to see you too dad," said Gold. He gave his father a hug. "What are you doing here?"
"I sensed the dark magic of the Shadow Master. I came here to make sure you were OK. And I'm glad you are." Pegasus then noticed Sunset. "Who is this fine young lady?"
"This, dad, is my..... girlfriend Sunset Shimmer." Gold got a smile out of Sunset from that.
"Well it's a pleasure to meet you Ms.Shimmer," said Pegasus. He shook Sunset's hand.
"Nice to meet you too, Mr.Pegasus," said Sunset.
"Please, just Pegasus is fine," he said.
"Well I'm glad that's all sorted out," said Gold.
Suddenly a dark chuckle rang through the air. "What was that?" asked Sunset.
"Your time is up, Golden Rise." Purple haze engulfed Sunset and Peagasus. Shadow Master materialized out of the shadows. "Its time for you to fall."
"What have you done?!?" asked an enraged Gold.
"I just simple put your father's and your girlfriend's souls on the line." Shadow Master walked forward. "Here's the deal. You beat me in a duel, and all of you go free. Lose, and well, it won't be that painful. Do we have a deal?"
"I have no other choice. Fine."
"Good. And I almost forgot, it will be a handicapped duel. I'll have 10000 life points while you have 1000."
"WHAT?!? I never agreed to that." Gold was outraged.
"Technically you did," said Shadow Master with a dark chuckle. A black duel disk materialized on his arm. "Ready?"
"Always."
"Let's duel!"
Shadow Master: 10000
"I'll go first. I summon out Angelic Guardian in Attack mode."
Angelic Guardian
A warrior in white armor, with Angel wings, and a silver blade appeared on the field. "Then I'll place one card face down and end my turn."
"I draw." Shadow Master drew his first card. "I'll summon out Graveyard Wanderer."
Graveyard Wanderer
A man in old ragged clothing, holding a scythe appeared on the field. "Then I'll activate Grave Mistake."
Grave Mistake
"That'll end my turn."
"I draw." Gold drew his new card. "I'll sacrifice my two Spirit Tokens in my hand and my Angelic Guardian to special summon Crimson Dragon."
Crimson Dragon
Crimson Dragon appeared on the field. "Prepare to fall."
"Now Crimson, attack his Wanderer." Crimson fired a blast of light that obliterated Shadow Master's monster. But he suffered no damage. "How did you take no damage?!?"
"I take no damage with attacks involving Shadow monsters."
"I end my turn," said a reluctant Gold.
"Good boy. I draw." Shadow Master drew his next card. "I play the ritual spell card, Rise Of Shadows."
Rise of Shadows
"Now I banish my Wanderer from the graveyard to summon out Shadow King."
Shadow King
A dark figure, in a black cloak appeared on the field. "Now I'll discard nine cards from my deck to bring his attack up to 900."
Shadow King: 900
"Then I activate Shadow Gates."
Shadow Gates
Shadow King: 990
"Now he will attack you directly." Shadow King released a wave of darkness onto the field. It pushed back Gold.
Shadow Master: 10000
Burst, Inferno, Steele, and Star arrived at the duel. "This isn't good," said Burst.
"I end my turn."
"I draw." Gold drew his next card. "I activate Angelic Destroyer."
Angelic Destroyer
Shadow Master's card was destroyed. "I end my turn with a face down."
"I draw. Now I'll discard the rest of my deck to bring up the rest of my monsters attack."
Shadow King: 5200
"I'll also activate Shared Souls."
Shared Souls
"Now I'll destroy my equip spell to raise my life points to 100000.
Shadow Master: 100000
"Its time to say goodbye, Golden Rise." Shadow King released a much more powerful wave of energy.
"I activate Last Stand."
Last Stand
Gold weathered in pain from the attack.
Shadow Master: 100000
Ace, Thunder, and Night arrived on the scene, with the rest of the group following.
"Its over Gold. Don't bother standing up."
Gold continued to lay on the ground. 'It`s over. He won. I failed.'
"Come on Gold," yelled Burst. "You can still win this."
"We all believe in you," said Star.
"You can take this clown down," said Ace.
'There right. I have to fight to protect and save my friends. As long as I have my friends with me, I can stand strong.' Gold began to push himself up.
"Don't bother, this duel is over," said Shadow Master.
"Your right about that, but it'll be over for you." Gold stood tall. "Like the Phoenix, I will rise from the ashes. With my friends by my side, I.......will........rise!" Phoenix wings appeared on Gold. His cards began to glow. "I draw. I activate Millenium Seal: Spirit Rise."
Millennium Seal: Spirit Rise
"Now I'll sacrifice Crimson Dragon to special summon Crimson Spirit Dragon."
Crimson Spirit Dragon
Crimson disappeared as the ground shook. A white light filled the field. The ground burst opened and out came a serpent like dragon made of pure red energy. "Now I'll take control of your Shadow King." Crimson Spirit released a wave of light that brought Shadow King to Gold 's side of the field. "Now I'll discard the rest of my deck to raise his attack.
Shadow King: 10400
"Then thanks to his second effect I can triple his attack."
Shadow King:1,124,864,000,000
"I didn't know a monsters attack could go that high," said Twilight.
"Now this duel is over! Go, Shadow King, end this duel." A huge wave of light and darkness crashed down onto Shadow Master.
"I will return, and destroy you. You will fall by my hands, Golden Rise!" Shadow Master disappeared.
Sunset and Peagasus were freed. Sunset ran over, and hugged Gold. "You saved us. Gold, your my hero." Sunset gave him a peck on the cheek.
The others ran up. "Wow dude, I like your new look," said Inferno.
"Yeah. I have something to tell you all." Gold back upped a bit.
"You just saved the day," said Star. "What you want to tell us can't be that weird."
"Ok." Gold took a deep breath. "I am not from here. I...... am....... from....... Equestrian."
The group went wide-eyed, except for Pegasus. "Is this the part where one of us faints?" asked Pinkie.
At that moment Rarity fainted.

And Gold had saved the day. Now he will reveal his past to the others.

The Tournament of Destiny
"What do you mean, your from Equestria?" asked Nightfall.
"I mean I was born and raised in Equestria for most of my life." Gold began paceing around.
"Why didn't you say anything before?" asked Burst.
"I thought none of you would believe me."
"But why did you leave? How did you get to earth? What was it like when you first came here?" Sunset had a lot of questions.
"Well I left because I was unwanted."
"What do you mean?" asked Sunset.
"Back in Equestria I was a phoenix pony. Basically a pony with phoenix wings. When my parents went missing nopony would except me into their home. I went strolling across Equestria. It was just me on my journey. One night I fell asleep wishing for someplace new, and I got my wish."
The girls were tearing up, while the guys were just shocked. "What happened when you first arrived?" asked Sonata.
Gold chuckled. "Well that's a story and a half."
Three years ago
Gold had spent the last week going through this new world. He had gotten most of the lingo from hearing small bits of conversations from people. He sat down at a bench. "Its been seven days, and I still haven't found anyplace to call home." Gold slumped against the seat. "What to do? What to do?"
Pegasus was taking a walk down one of the empty streets. "These walks are always joyful." He suddenly sensed a presence of light energy. "A figure of light? This is new." Pegasus found the distraught Gold. "Excuse me my dear boy?"
Gold looked up. "Oh hello, is there something that I can do for you?" asked Gold with a small smile.
'He seems to stay joyful even in the most distressing situations. I can now see why he has the light power.' "I can see that your distressed." Pegasus took a seat next to Gold. "Would you like to talk about it?"
"I don't think you'll believe me."
"I have seen many things in my life that are considered strange. I think I'll believe you," said Pegasus with a smile.
"Ok." Gold told Pegasus about his life in both worlds. "And that's my life."
Pegasus nodded. "I see. Well we can't have you stay homeless. You can join me in my mansion. I've always wanted a son."
Gold weighted his options. "I like that plan."
Two years ago
Gold had been happily living with his new father. He had helped Yugi a few times with saving the world. Once the world was saved things went back to normal. Pegasus was the only one who knew about Gold 's past. But two paths are descended to be crossed.
One year ago
Gold had sensed an incoming presence one night. A spiritual figure appeared in front of him. "Who are you?"
"I am the brother of the Pharoah. I have come to warn you of an incoming threat. A being known as the Shadow Master will be freed. It is up to you to stop him, and save the world. But you will not go at it along. You will be able to find the guardian's of the Millenium Items. Take this." The spirit pulled out a golden compass with the Millenium Seal on it. "This is the Millenium Compass. It will point you in the right direction. And you will need a new powerful friend."
Crimson Dragon appeared next to the figure. "Crimson Dragon at your service."
"Now it's time for you to save the day." The spirit disappeared.
"And that's basically what happened."
"Wow," said Burst. "You, Gold, are the greatest hero there is."
The others agreed. Sunset gave Gold another kiss. "And you proved that today."
"Yeah, I did."
Pegasus stepped forward. "Well I feel like now is as good a time as any to tell you all about my tournament. It will be a city-wide Duelist Kingdom style tournament, and all of you are able to participate." The group cheered after the announcement. Everyone went their seperate ways after that.
Castle of Shadows
"So Pegasus is having a tournament. Time to send out my agents." Shadowy figures dashed out of the castle.
Gold Residence
Gold looked out the window. "I had to keep them from knowing the full truth." Gold walked over to a his desk. On it was a piece of paper with a few words on it. 'The ultimate sacrifice must be made. The hero and villain will not make it out of the battle.'

The Tournament of Destiny
Tournament, Day 1: Shadows Rise
It had been one week since Pegasus announced the town wide tournament. Today was the starting day. Gold and his new friends, armed with some new custom cards, are ready to hit the ground running. But some business needed to be handled first.
Ace and Thunder were meeting up with Sonata and Starlight to give them their gifts. "We should really thank Gold for letting us use his card maker," said Ace.
"Considering we woke him up at three in the morning to do so, he sure does deserve one," said Thunder.
Sonata and Starlight came walking up to the two. "Hey guys, why did you want to see us before the tournament?" asked Sonata.
"Well we just wanted to give you girls a little something," answered Ace. The two presented their gifts to their respective girlfriend. The two opened up their gifts, and smiled with glee.
Sonata immediately jumped forward and bear hugged Ace. "Thank you! I love it!"
"No problem....Vision going dark...." said a struggling Ace.
"Whoops. Sorry." Sonata let go.
Starlight went up to Thunder and gave him a kiss. "I think Sonata expressed both of our thanks."
"Great. Now let's go find the others." The group ran off to find the rest of the group before the tournament.
Gold had the group spread out to try and cover the entire city. If Shadow Master was going to try anything someone should be able to handle it. Gold and Sunset were by the school. Sunset wanted to know more about Gold. "So, what was your life like before everything went wrong?"
"It was going good. I was able to visit Princesses Celestia a few times. Everything was pretty perfect." Gold looked out into the city. Sunset decided that she didn't want to bring anything up.
"What was it like before I came here?" asked Gold.
Sunset was surprised by this question. "What do you mean?"
"Before I came here, was everything always this crazy?"
"A little bit." Sunset hoped Gold wouldn't ask more.
"What about you?"
There it was. "I wasn't the nicest person before."
"I've been told, but it doesn't effect my feelings for you. I just want to see if you forgive yourself for what happened. I've always been taught to forgive yourself so you can forgive others."
"Gold I-"
Before Sunset could answer, Gold was mysteriously sent flying across the courtyard. "My master will be happy to have your soul." Suddenly a shadowy haze appeared around the courtyard. The haze condensed until a figure stood between Sunset and Gold. The figure was Demon Sunset. "I don't see how the others failed, that was easy."
"What are you doing here?!?" asked a surprised, and slightly scared, Sunset.
"I'm here for the soul of Golden Rise." Demon-set floated over to Gold. "Time to go Gold."
"You can't make me come," said a determined Gold.
"That's no way to speak to a lady. We'll have to change that." Demon-set used her magic to send pain through Gold 's body. He began to writher on the ground from the pain.
Sunset ran over and put herself between the two. "Your not taking him anywhere."
"Then how about we duel for him." Demon-set summoned a fire red duel disk.
"I'll make sure I win."
"Let's duel!"
Demon-set: 4000
"I'll start off by summoning Dark Mist Warrior."
Dark Mist Warrior
A warrior made of the purple haze appeared on the field. "Then I'll place one card face down and end my turn."
"My move. I draw." Sunset drew her first card. "I summon out White Lightning Tiger."
White Lightning Tiger
A white tiger with blue stripes and a pointed tail appeared on the field. "Now I'll use his effect to destroy your face down." The tiger shot a bolt of lightning from its tail that destroyed Demon-set's face down. "Now with your face down gone, I'll attack your warrior. Lightning Claw!" The tiger jumped forward and sliced through the warrior.
Demon-set: 3500
"I end my turn."
"That was a nice move, but I need Gold 's soul for my master. I draw." Demon-set placed her new card into her hand, and grabbed another one. "I activate Shadow Dance."
Shadow Dance
"Now I special summon two Corrupted Flames."
Corrupted Flame
Two dark red flames appeared on the field. "Now I'll activate Corrupted Ritual."
Corrupted Ritual
"Now I can bring out my ace card. Say hello to Corrupted Sorceress."
Corrupted Sorceress
A fire erupted on the field. Out of it came a figure. The figure looked like Sunset. She was dressed in blood red armor and held a septer. "Hello weaker half," she said.
"That will end my turn."
Sunset backed up. "No, no, no." Sunset clutched her head. "This can't be real."
"Oh, but it's all two real Sunset," said Demon-set.
"You can never get rid of us," said Corrupted Sorceress.
Sunset dropped to her knees. "No, this shouldn't be. I can't win."
"Yes you can." Sunset looked up to see Gold pulling himself up. "Once you forgive yourself, you can let the forgiveness of others in. You can do this Sunset. You are strong." Gold fully stood up. "So, do you forgive yourself for what happened?"
Sunset let Gold 's words sink in. She finally stood up, and had a more confident look. "I do, and I will end this duel. I draw!" When Sunset drew her card she ponied up. "I activate Polymerization to fuse Mighty Hearth and Fire Scale in my hand. Now I bring out Solar Flare Dragon."
Solar Flare Dragon
The surrounding area began to heat up. A creature descended from the sky. It was a dragon with dark red scales, golden eyes, and flaming scales. "Prepare to feel the heat," she said.
"Now I'll discard two cards to destroy your Corrupted Sorceress and one of your Corrupted Flames." Solar released a wave of fire from her scales that destroyed both monsters. "And now she'll destroy your remaining Flame. Solar Strick!" Solar blasted the monster with a blast of her own Fire.
Demon-set: 400
"I end my turn."
"You may have weakened me but I will not lose. I draw." She drew her next card. "I set a monster face down. Now you can't finish me off."
Sunsets top card glowed. "You might want to rethink that. I draw. I activate Millenium Seal: Power Release."
Millennium Seal: Power Release
"This duel is over. Solar Flare Dragon, release your power." The field was covered in a bright light.
"NNNNOOOOOO!" Demon-set's scream faded away.
Demon-set: 0
When the light cleared, Sunset was standing with a triumphant smile. "I did it."
Gold walked over and pulled Sunset into a kiss. "Yes you did."
"So I guess I rose to the occasion?" Sunset kept her smile.
"Of course you did." Suddenly Gold 's phone went off. "Hello...... Night....... wait what?.......... ok, we're on our way." Gold.hung up.
"What is it?"
"We got trouble down town. Twilight 's shadow is attacking."

The Tournament of Destiny
Tournament, Day 1: Tarnished Crystal
Night and Twilight were at Crystal Prep. Gold had asked the two to go to the school, and watch out for any dark figures. "This place still gives me nightmares," said Twilight.
"You can say that again." Night sounded saddened.
"You ok Night?"
"Yeah. Just... I've not had the best experience here." Night walked closer to the school. "Not a lot of people know about my past."
"What do you mean?" asked an interested Twilight.
Before Night could answer the two heated footsteps. They turned to see Principle Cinch walking up to the school. She looked up to the two. "Twilight? Night?"
"Hello... mother," said a bitter Night.
"Mother?!?" Twilight was surprised.
"Please Night, listen...."
"No. It's my turn to speak, and your turn to listen." Principal Cinch stopped talking. "At first I was happy you were the principal of this school. But then you started worrying about reputation. You put the reputation of the school before the students. You turned Twilight into a she-demon. If you really cared about the students then that wouldn't have happened. You pushed us way to far. I don't know if I can forgive for what happened."
Principle Cinch stepped forward. "I know I hurt both of you the most. I wish I could take back all I did, but since I can't I want to make up for it. Night, you are my son above everything else. I hate to see you upset, or angry. You were always the light of my day. Please, just let me make it up to you."
Night was silent for a few moments. Then he started to tear up. "I never wanted to be mad at you, but things got outta hand. I am willing to forgive you." Night looked over to see Twilight smiling, and he smiled. "We both are."
"Thank you." Night walked forward, and hugged his mother. "I'm glad to have you back."
The moment was short lived when a dark laugh was heard. The three looked all around for the source.
"This is ridicules," said Twilight.
"Get inside," said Night. The three ran into the school while Night called Gold. "Hey Gold, we got a problem..... it's Midnight Sparkle, she's at the school....... thanks." Night shut the doors behind him. Twilight ran up with a broom, which Night stuck in between the handles. "That should hold." Then the doors were blasted open. "Never mind."
"What do we do now?" asked Twilight.
"I'll distract her. While you two run for it," said Cinch.
"That's crazy," said Night.
"Its the least I can do. Now I'll distract her, and you two run." Cinch pulled out one card. "Let's go Ancient Gear Golem." Ancient Gear Golem materialized next to them.
"Ready to fight," he said.
Twilight turned to Night. "So that's where you got your deck from."
"Yeah. And it works like a charm." The two ran for it as Golem started fighting Midnight. But it wasn't enough. Midnight noticed the two running. She shot a blast towards the two.
"Watch out!" Night jumped forward, and pushed Twilight out of the way of the blast. The blast hit him instead, and was sent into the wall.
"Night!" cried Twilight. Her saddened look turned to one of rage. She furiously turned to Midnight. "How dare you hurt him. He's been going through a rollercoaster of emotions. You hurt the only guy that could probably get me, and now your going to pay." Twilight activated her duel disk.
"Fine. If it's a duel you want, then it's a duel you'll get." Midnight summoned a purple duel disk.
"Let's duel!"
Midnight: 4000
"I'll start this duel," said Twilight. "I summon out Skilled Dark Magician."
Skilled Dark Magician
A figure in a blue cloak, heralding a staff paperwork the field. "The I'll place two cards face down, and end my turn."
"My move then. I draw." Midnight drew her first card. "I'll place one monster face down, and end my turn."
"I draw." Twilight drew her card. "I summon out Spellbook Imp."
Spellbook Imp
A small book appeared on the field. It opened up, and a tiny blue imp popped out from it. "Now I'll tune my two monsters together, to synchro summon Arcanite Magician." Spellbound Imp turned into two green rings. The rings surrounded Skilled Dark Magician, and he turned into four orbs of light. The rings and orbs were then engulfed by a column of light.
Arcanite Magician
The light faded and a figure had appeared. The figure had white armor-like robes, and a green staff. "And since I Synchro summoned him he gains two spell counters, and 2000 attack."
Arcanite Magician: 2400
"Then I'll activate Counter Attack."
Counter Attack
"Now he can attack twice. So, Arcanite Magician will attack your face down." Arcanite Magician charged his staff, and fired a blast that destroyed Midnight's face down.
"Ok. Now try to get me," taunted Midnight.
And Twilight fell for the trap. "I plan to. Now, Arcanite Magician, attack her directly." He charged up another blast, and fired.
"You fell for my trap. I activate Mirror Force and Magic Cylinder from my hand." Midnight held up both cards.
"WHAT?!?" Arcanite was destroyed, and twilight took damage.
Midnight: 4000
"How did you activate cards from your hand?" asked a shocked Twilight.
"The monster you destroyed was Card Mage, and his effect allows me to play traps from my hand. His effect is both active on the field and in the graveyard."
"I end my turn."
"I draw." Midnight added the new card to her hand, and grabbed another one. "I activate Magical Absorbtion."
Magical Absorbtion
"Now I'll banish two level four spellcasters from my hand to summon out Midnight Mistress."
Midnight Mistress
A purple haze surrounded Midnight. Once the haze condensed, Midnight was now in purple armor and was wielding a black staff. "Now I'm as powerful as ever."
Twilight looked on in horror. "There's no monster in my deck that's strong brought to defeat her." The the top card of her deck glowed. She shackle grabbed the card. After looking at it a smile sprung onto her face. "This should work." She then turned to Midnight. "This battle isn't over. It's my turn to show you my ace card. I sacrifice two monsters from my hand to summon out Dark Magician."
Dark Magician
Dark Magician appeared on the field. "Hello Midnight."
"Why waste your time he's not powerful enough to defeat me," said Midnight.
"Maybe not alone. I activate Millenium Seal: Harmonic Destiny."
Millennium Seal: Harmonic Destiny
The Millenium Seal appeared on the floor. Dark Magician's cloak went from purple to white, and Twilight ponied up. "Now he has more then brought power to destroy you, and end this duel."
Sunset ran in to the site. "Looks like I arrived just in time."
"Yes you did Sunset. Now, Dark Magician, attack her and end this duel."
"Your time is up." Dark Magician channeled his energy into his staff, and fired a column of light at Midnight.
"NNNNOOOOOOO!" Midnight was no more.
Midnight: 0
Twilight landed as the field cleared. She then ran over to Night, who was just getting up. "I'm glad your safe," she said while hugging him.
"Me too."

The Tournament of Destiny
Sub-chapter: Equestrian Travels
Gold had woken up after a quick rest. "Better. Now to get out of here." Gold got to his hooves, and looked around. He found a flat rock that was perfect for crushing. He walked over to it, and used his strength to smash the chains. "Ok. Now to get out of here." Gold began walking through the rocks. He was walking for awhile until he found a gate. But before he could make it to the gate a giant, three-headed dog jumped in front of him. It let off a low growl, but Gold did not back off. "You know I don't belong here, Cerberus. You keep this place safe, but I am not supposed to be here. Please, just let me through." Cerberus sniffed Gold. Then it went from angry to happy. It let out a bark, and rolled onto its stomach. "Good boy." Gold gave him a pet. "Now to find my way back."
"I may be able to help." Crimson materialized next to him. "The magic from, in there, kept me from helping. But now that we're out I can take you anywhere. Hop on." Gold climbed onto Crimson's back. "Where to?"
Gold thought about immediately going to Canterlot, then he had another idea. "Let's head to the outlands."
"Ok." Crimson took off.
The Outlands
"There is one place that I want to see. Just past the Changling Empire." Crimson flew over the place. He finally landed in an open space.
"Where is this place?" asked Crimson.
"Its not here," said Gold, who was looking off in the distance.
"Oh, then why did we come here?"
"I just wanted to visit one last time. Thankfully everybody got out before the accident."
"Do you want to go, or stay here for a bit?"
"Looks like something else will make that decision." Gold saw a few changlings flying towards him.
The middle one looked like the leader. He had a yellow body with green wings. "Hello travelers. I saw you fly over head, and wanted to see why you were here."
"We were just visiting an old spot."
"You mean the town that was once here. I've heard about what happened. Did you live here?"
"Once in my life." Gold looked into the barrian landscape.
"Well," The changling put a hoof on his shoulder, "You are always welcomed here." The changling smiled.
Gold returned the smile. "Thank you uh..."
"Thorax."
"Gold."
The meeting was short lived as three figures came into site. A dragon, a griffin, and a draconaques landed. "Ember, Gilda, Discord, what are you three doing here?"
"There's something wrong," said Ember.
"What is it?"
"Equestria has fallen."
Thorax gasped. "How can that be?"
"A being that calls himself Shadow Master has taken over," said Gilda.
Gold came forward. "Did you just say Shadow Master?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Wait." Discord hovered over Gold. "Gold-ish fur, and an orange and yellow mane. You are Golden Rise." Discord summoned a photo of Gold. "Can I have your autograph? It will complete my friendly legends set."
"Wait, what are you talking about?" asked Gold.
"Well almost everything knows about you from Twilight. Your dueling skills are ammon the best there is."
"I'll keep that in mind."
Ember was like a fan girl. "It really is you. I never thought I meet you in the flesh."
Thankfully Discord stopped her. "Try to calm down. He doesn't need fans crowding him." Discord popped in front of Gold in a security guard out fit. "One at a time, one at a time."
Gilda stepped forward. "Its cool to meet you Gold. Hopefully we can duel sometime."
"Yeah, but right now we have a villain to stop. Discord, think you can take us to Canterlot?"
"Do you really have to ask?" With a snap of his claw, the group was in Canterlot. Gold could see Shadow Master using Twilight 's castle as a throne.
"Looks like it's time to save the day. Are the rest of you with me?" The others nodded. "Ok then, activate your duel disk, and let's bring down this menese." The group made it to the castle/throne.
"Isn't this a surprise? I thought I would crush you later, but it seems that time is now," said Shadow Master.
"Your the one that's going to fall. With my new team by my side, you will lose."
"Then I should bring out my team." Four figures appeared in front of the group.
"Garble," snarled Ember.
"Its been to long Sombre," said Discord with a smile.
"I thought I saw the last of you Lightning Dust," huffed Gilda.
"You should of stayed gone Chrysalis," said Thorax.
"Well then, let the fun begin."
"Let's duel!"

"And the battle begins!" Shadow Master shouted.

The Tournament of Destiny
Tournament, Day 2: A Battle Between Worlds
'Gold' and his friends kept up with the tournament. They were involved in more duels then anyone else. Once the preliminary duels were finished the finalist were announced.
Pegasus sent out a video message toe everyone. "Attention duelist. All of you have done well so far, but now it's time to announce the finalist. Your wins and loses have been calculated, and the finalist are as follows: Golden Rise, Nightfall Silver, Burst Stream, Inferno Flare, Steele Edge, Arttic Ace, Has-" The video suddenly cut out.
"That's odd," said Star. Everyone had gathered in one group. Suddenly the sky turned a dark purple.
Another video began, it showed... Gold. "Hello duelist. For the past day you have known me as Gold, but the truth is..." The video turned purple, the Shade appeared. "Surprise!" Shade gave a dark chuckle. "Yeah. Your little friend is not here. The true power duelist is here. My master is already in Equestria, and let's just say, no help is coming from there. So if you want to find me you'll probably know where to look. Goodbye weaklings." The video cut out.
The others turned to Sunset. Her face was covered by her hair. Night stepped forward. "Sunset, we have to be rational about this."
She looked up, and there was a fire in her eye. "There's nothing to discuss or rationalize. He messed with us enough times. I'm going to face him. You can join me if you want to."
Burst stepped forward. "Gold is all our friend. If your facing Shade, we're with you all the way." The others gave a reassuring yes.
Sunset smiled. "Thank you all. Now let's end this together." The group ran to the school. When they arrived, they saw that Shade was using the portal as a throne.
"Thought you wouldn't show at first. Sorry, but I needed a seat for this new world. So blah blah blah world take over blah blah blah destroy you blah blah blah I choose to duel Sunset." Shade summoned his duel disk.
"Fine then, I accept." Sunset activated her duel disk.
"Let's duel!"
On the other side of the portal, Gold and Shadow Master were the only two left standing.
Gold: 1500
"You are all alone Golden Rise. Your so called team has fallen. Now it's just the two of us."
"That maybe so, but my friends are always in my heart. I will win this duel." Gold had a fire in his eyes. "No matter what, you will fall!" Gold 's phoenix wings appeared.
Sunset felt a power go through her. "Gold?" She closed her eyes, and saw Gold facing Shadow Master. She felt her heart soar at the site of him being a hero. "Let's end this together."
Gold felt the same power, and heard Sunset's message. "Let's."
A line of energy appeared on the ground in both worlds. The energy surged upwards, and revealed both worlds. Sunset was on one side, and Gold was on the other. They looked to each other and smiled.
"How can this be?!?" screamed Shadow Master.
"When two hearts are aligned," began Sunset.
"Anything can happen," finished Gold.
"And together we will defeat you both," they said together.
"Try us," said Shade with a snarl.
"Actually, your the one taking them on. I have some business to take care of." Shadow Master disappeared.
"Fine. I'll finish them," said an annoyed Shade.

"I'll start by summoning out Castle of Dark Illusions in defense mode." Shade summoned his monster.
Castle of Dark Illusions
A larger stone floating castle appeared on the field. "Now I'll bring out my ace monster."
"If it's Zombie King, we can take him," said Gold.
"No, not him. It's time to introduce my new partner. Although I should thank Gold and Crimson. Without you two he would have never came to be."
"What do you mean?" asked Sunset.
"Well I took some energy from the two of them to create this creature. But enough talk, he grows tiresome. I sacrifice two monsters from my hand to bring out the true legendary Dragon. Come forth, Obsedian Dragon!"
Obsedian Dragon
A loud roar pierced the heavens. From the sky came a Dragon with black scales, and purple crystal wings. "Hello weaklings," he said.
"I'll end my turn."
"We gotta be careful. That castle wouldn't be on the field for no reason," said Sunset.
"Your right about that Ms. Shimmer. Thanks to the two monsters in my graveyards effects, they can come back in face down defense mode. It's your move."
"You can take the next turn Sunset," said Gold.
"Ok. I draw." Sunset drew her first card. "I summon out Open Hearth in defense mode."
Open Hearth
An open fireplace appeared on the field. "Then I'll place two cards face down and end my turn."
"I draw." Gold's cards floated in front of him. "I summon out Angelic Librarian in defense mode."

A being in a white robe, with glasses, a book, and angel wings appeared. "Now I can add one Book of Moon to my.... 'hand.'" Gold grabbed the card. "Now I'll activate it."

"Now your Castle of Dark Illusions is face down." The castle disappeared and was replaced by a card. "And to keep you from changing its position I activate Chains of the Fallen Angel."

White chains appeared over Shade's side of the field. "That should keep you down for a bit. I end my turn."
"You may have brought down my castle, but that wasn't all I had. I draw." Shade drew his card, and added it to his hand. "I activate Shared Souls."

"And thanks to his effect, Obsedian gains more power."

"You still can't hurt us," said Sunset.
"That's what you think. I activate Banishment of Shadows."

"I stool this card from Shadow Master. He won't miss it. I also activate Ending Strick."

"So now I end my turn, and the fun begins." A devilish smile crept onto his face.
Both Sunset's and Gold 's monsters disappeared. Then Obsedian Dragon fired a blast of purple energy at the two. They were both pushed to the ground.

Sunset and Gold both got up. "Man did that hurt," said Gold.
"Yeah, it did. But we still have to stop him," said Sunset.
"How can you? I control the duel. There's nothing you can do to stop me."
"That's where your wrong. Together we can stop you. Together..." Gold looked towards Sunset and smiled. "We have true magic." Suddenly the two were engulfed in a white light. Once the light cleared, Sunset was in her Daydream Shimmer form, and Gold was human again, but he had golden armor.
"This duel ends here," said Gold and Sunset in unison. "We activate Daydream Phoenix Fusion."

"Now we sacrifice five cards each from our deck to bring out Daydream Dragon and Phoenix Crimson."

The sky filled with a white light. Two dragons descended. One was a white Dragon with a gold underbelly. The other was an armored Crimson with phoenix wings. "And thanks to their effects, Obsedian Dragon loses the attack it gained."

"This can't be happening!" Shade backed up until he it the statue.
"Now it's time to attack. Daydream Flame of Legends." The two dragons combined their powers. Once their power was at its peak, they let it fly.
Shade's field was covered in a bright light. "I was supposed to win!!!!" The scene went silent. Once the light and smoke cleared, Shade was no where to be seen. The energy combining both worlds.disappeared, but Gold was on.the other side now.
Sunset flew over and hugged Gold. "We did it."
"We rose to the occasion." Gold brought up Sunset's chin, and the two shared a kiss.
"Awwww." They didn't care that the others would see. They broke the kiss, and landed still hugging each other.
"Sorry to ruin this moment," said Burst. "But we got another guy to stop."
"He's right," said Star.
"And we will, together." Gold stuck his hand out. The others put their hands on top.
"Let's do this," they cheered.

Tournament, Day 2: Lost Memories
Gold had gathered the group around an open portal. "Okay everyone. Are you all ready to finally face Shadow Master?"
"We're ready," said Burst.
"Let's take this guy down," said Star.
"Its the end of the line for him," said Ace.
"Then let's do this. Charge!" Everyone ran into the portal.
The light cleared from Gold's eyes. He looked around, and saw that he was standing in a patch of clouds. "Where am I?"
"Your within the memory realm," said a voice. Gold turned to see two people walking up. One was a girl with hair like the stars, and the other was a guy who looked like Ace.
"Who are you two?"
"I am Nightmare Moon, but you can call me Moon," said the girl with a smile.
"And I am Dark Ice, but I go by Ice," said the guy with his own smile.
"Nice to meet you two, I am...."
"We know who you are," said Moon.
"Really?"
"Yeah. We were once known on Earth until Shadow Master captured us. He wiped our friends', and my brothers', memories," said Ice.
"And Burst doesn't even remember that I exist," said Moon. She began to cry a bit.
Gold went over and comforted Moon. "Don't worry. You'll see him again." Gold looked around the area. "We're going to make it outta here."
"We tried," said Ice. "There's no way out of here."
"Well you never had me here before. I specialize in the impossible."
"Right now, I'm ready for anything," said Ice with a determined look.
"Me too." Moon wiped away her tears. "So, what can we do?"
"First, we need some fire power. Let's summon our monsters. Crimson Dragon."
"Queen Nyx," said Moon.
"Red Dragon Archfiend," said Ice.
The three monsters appeared. Red and Nyx both bowed before Crimson. "What are you two doing?" asked Crimson.
"Its an honor to meet one of the three supreme legendary dragons," said Nyx.
"We are humbled by you," said Red.
"Listen, you two don't have to bow or act like I'm royalty. We're all friends here. Let's work together, and get out of here."
"Right. Maybe I'll see Blue Eyes again," said Nyx.
"Well someone can't wait to see their boyfriend," taunted Red.
"Oh, don't even start. I see how you look at Archfiend Queen," said Nyx.
"It doesn't help that Indigo also has an Archfiend deck," defended Red.
"Sounds like they do this a lot," whispered Crimson.
"Yeah, by the way, have you asked out Solar Flare yet?"
"Not yet. We've both been busy."
"Got it." Gold stepped forward. "Now that that's out of the way. We have to find a weakened part of this world."
"I think I know a spot," said Ice. He led the group over to a spot where the clouds were really thin.
"Ok. This should work." Gold turned to the three monsters. "All you three have to do is fire a combined blast at that spot."
"Can do." The three of them prepared a blast. The energies combined mid-flight and hit the spot. There was an explosion. Once the smoke cleared, the group saw the Shadow Realm. Wisp of white energy entered the realm.
A few wisps went to Gold. "Now I remember you two. Burst has all the luck."
"Actually, Pinkie had shown interest in you too," said Moon.
"Thanks for the info, but right now, we got a Master to deal with."
"Right!" The three jumped onto Crimson and rode off.

Tournament, Day 3: Light Within the Darkness
Gold, Ice, and Moon were flying over the area, searching for their friends. "There they are," said Moon. The group was currently in a battle against some shadow creatures.
"Then let's help them out," said Gold. Crimson dived down to the group's level. "Plasma Arc Blast." Crimson fired a blast of light that vaporized the shadows. The group was surprised, but they all smiled when Crimson landed. "Sorry we're late."
"Just glad to have you guys back," said Burst. He ran up and hugged Moon. Ice went over to his brothers.
"Thanks for the save," said Star. "But where to now?"
"How about the dark, creepy castle over there," suggested Inferno. The group saw the castle in the distance.
"So, should we go in, monsters at the ready?" asked Night.
Gold climbed on top of Crimson. "Let's give him a surprise."
"I agree," said Pinkie. The others summoned their monsters.
"Time to finish this guy," said Blue Eyes.
"I'm ready to finish him," said Red eyes.
"Let's destroy him for good," said Giant.
"To the castle." Gold and Crimson led the group towards the castle.
"So, what's the plan when we get in there?" asked Ice.
"We combine our powers, and completely destroy him."
Suddenly, Sonata's partner started slowing down. "Sonata, you OK?"
"Just feeling a little weak," said Sonata the Melodius Diva.
Dark Magician Girl slowed down a bit. "Don't worry, I got you." She helped Sonata catch up with the others.
"Thanks."
"Come on everyone, we're almost there." Crimson began to slow down as they got closer. "You good Crimson?"
"Just.... a little..... tired." The group got past the gates of the castle. An energy washed over them.
"That was odd." Gold looked down to see Crimson turned to stone. The other's monsters soon followed. "Jump!" Gold jumped off of Crimson's back as he crashed down. The group hit the ground hard. "That hurt."
"Welcome fools to your final resting place. You will not escape here." Shadow Master appeared in front of them. "Don't bother getting up." He raised his foot. "Say goodbye you bugs." He brought his foot down, but a shield appeared around the group. "What is this?!?"
Gold got up first. "As long as we're together, we will not be defeated." The others stood up. "We will finish this together." Night, Burst, Inferno, Steele, Ace, Shadow, Star, and Ice stood with Gold. "With our powers combined, we will destroy you." All of them raised their Millenium Items, with Ice holding half of the Millenium Scales. Columns of light surrounded each of them. The columns merged into one as the room filled with light. The columns released a wave of light that burned Shadow Master. When the light cleared, a figure stood in the center of the room. He wore golden armor, had all the Millenium Items, and had a white cape.
"We have combined our forces to create the ultimate force of good," said the guys voices in unison. "We are the Divine Master."
"So, all of you combined your powers. Good. Now I can destroy you all at once," said Shadow.
"Your not destroying anyone, Shadow Master," said Divine. "You will be defeated, and banished to the eternal abyss."
"Your the one who will be sentenced to darkness!" shouted Shadow Master.
"Then how about we end this with a duel." Divine summoned a gold duel disk.
"Fine. I'll just show you whose has true power." Shadow Master summoned his own duel disk.
"Let's duel!"

"We'll start off this duel. We summon out Millenium Sphinx."

A stone Sphinx appeared on the field. The Millenium Seal appeared on its chest. "Since he is on the field, we can summon out Millenium King: Burst Stream and Millenium Queen: Celestia."

Burst's and Celestia's counterparts appeared. They both wore armor that looked like Blue-Eyes's scales. "And since both of them are on the field, we can summon out Millenium Queen: Moon."

Moon's counterpart appeared with the exact same armor. "Then we'll end our turn by playing the field spell Millenium King's Tomb."
Millenium King 's Tomb
The arena turned into a pharaohs's tomb. A sarcophagus stood behind Divine. "Its your move." The Millenium tomb gave off a faint glow.
"You think a light show will scare me. You'll have to do better than that. I draw." Shadow Master looked as his card, and smiled. "I summon out one Shadow Token in defense mode."
Shadow Token
A dark shadow appeared on the field. "Then I'll set one card face down and end my turn."
"Our move. We dra-" Divine's deck was covered by shadows. "What is this?"
"Thanks to my tokens effect, you cannot draw any cards during your draw phase." Shadow Master crossed his arms. "Let's see you get past this one."
'We can't draw another card,' thought Burst.
'How can we get past his effect?' asked Inferno.
'I think we have a card in our hand that can help,' answered Gold.
'Worth a shot,' thought Star.
"Get on with your move already," said an impatient Shadow.
"Here goes nothing. We activate Sphinx's effect once more to summon out Millenium King: Arctic Ace."
Millenium King: Arctic Ace
Ace's counterpart wore dark green armor. "We'll end our turn there."
"I draw. I summon out another Shadow Token. Then I'll set a card and end my turn."
"Well now thanks to Ace we can draw." Divine drew his card.
'Not much we can do,' thought Night.
'With our field full, we can't summon out anymore monsters,' thought Ice.
"We place one card face down and end our turn."
"I draw. I activate Shadow's Rule."
Shadow's Rule
"Now your next five turns are skipped. Which means that I get to draw five cards." Shadow drew his five cards. "And now that I have all seven Shadow Tokens in my hand and on my field, I can summon out my most powerful monster." The two tokens disappeared as the ground started to shake. "He comes from the darkest depths of the earth. He rises from the nightmares of all. Come forth, Lord of Darkness." The ground burst opened, and black mist poured from it. The mist surrounded Shadow Master. He let out a dark chuckle as the shadows left him. He now had armor made from bones, a lance the size of a skyscraper, and he held a dark crystal.
"Wait, why don't we have any information on him?" asked a confused Divine.
"Because, I'm no ordinary monster. I rule over all darkness, and the rules don't apply to me." He slammed his staff down and destroyed all the counterparts, including the ones in Divine's deck. "And say goodbye to your souls." He fired a blast of Dark magic from the Crystal.
"Not yet. We activate Final Stand to keep at least one life point." Divine was pushed back from the blast.
Lord of Darkness: 4000
"You may have saved yourselves, but you cannot defeat me." Suddenly, the sarcophagus glowed with a bright light. "What is this?"
"There was one mistake you made Shadow. You forgot our field spell. And with our eighth turn gone. We can summon out Millenium Light Dragon."
Millenium Light Dragon
The sarcophagus exploded and filled the room with light. When the light cleared, a Dragon stood beside Divine. It had golden scales, and eight heads. Each head had a Millenium Item on it. "This is the end of the line for you," said the eight heads in unison.
"I thought I destroyed you ages ago." Shadow was now scared.
"You thought you did, but the Millenium Items saved us. And now, we're here to return the favor."
"Let's end this," said Divine. He charged up a blast of magic in his hand, and Light followed suit. "Millenium Light Blast." The two energies combined, and blinded all of those in attendance.
"This can't be!" Shadow began to disappear.
Gold was following him. 'Gold! What's happening to you?' asked a shock Night. The others noticed Gold 's disappearing.
'It's part of the prophecy. The hero sacrifices himself to seal away the darkness. It must be done.' Gold placed a hand on Night's shoulder. 'Night. You have always been like a brother to me. I want you to take care of Sunset, and Pinkie.'
'No. No. It just won't be right.' Night was freaking out.
'It will be fine. You are stronger than you think.' Gold turned to the others and smiled. 'Thank you all for your help. And remember, always rise to the occasion.' With that last statement, Gold vanished.
Once the light cleared, the group saw that they were back in front of the school. The guys had separated, and were breathing heavily from the battle they endured. The girls ran over, and hugged their significant others. Sunset and Pinkie were looking around. "Where's Gold?" asked Sunset.
The guy's joyful expressions turned into solemn ones. "Come on guys," said Pinkie. "Where is he?"
Night stood up. "There's no easy way to say this." Night rubbed the back of his neck.
Sunset walked up. "Please Night, just tell us."
"Well.... Gold is...... kinda...... gone."
"What do you mean?" asked Pinkie. "Did he stay behind to try and fix things up?"
"No, not exactly. Gold.... sacrificed himself to save everyone." Night said the last part quickly.
The truth hit the two like a ton of bricks. "Wait. So he is not coming back," said Pinkie. Her hair began to flatten.
"Most likely not," said Night. Pinkie dropped to her knees.
"This can't be real."
"I'm sorry Pinkie. Night went over, and began to comfort both Sunset and Pinkie.
The others stepped forward, and got the three into a group hug. "You know what guys," began Star.
"What?" asked Fluttershy.
"Gold would not want us to be sad after what happened. We just saved the two worlds. Gold would want us to celebrate our victory and his sacrifice. Am I right?" The others actually agreed.
Pinkie wiped her tears. "Your right Star. And I have the perfect Just Saved the Wolrd party idea." Pinkie's smile returned. "But I'm gonna need a few things."
The others were happy to see Pinkie and Sunset happy. The group went into the school to prepare for the upcoming party.

Sub-chapter: Return of Darkness
Sunset and Gold were about to leave when Gold stopped. "You should go ahead. You can probably help Twilight more then I can. I'll go search for the others."
"Are you sure?" asked Sunset.
"Yeah. You go on ahead. I'll meet up with you later." Sunset was a bit suspicious, but she shrugged it off and ran off. Gold turned away with a devious smile. "She's finally out of the way. Now onto further business."
Shadow Castle
The being behind him was Gold. "How did you enter my domain?!?!"
"Relaxe Shadow. I'm not Golden Rise." The room filled with a purple light. When the light died down, Shade was standing where Gold was. "But I did take care of him. With a little help from Demon-set."
Shadow Master now had an annoyed look. "Your like a roach, Shade. What did you do with the real Golden Rise?"
"I sent him back home. He should still be chained up in Tartares." Shade looked at his fingernails. "He shouldn't be a problem anymore."
Shadow Master returned to his thrown. "Well with him out of the way, there should be nothing to stop my plans. Return to the human world, and keep up the act."
"Yes sir." Shade gave a salute, turned back into Gold, and teleported away.
"Why do I get all the idiots?" Shadow Master looked out the window once again.

Epilogue: Return of the Light
The party was in full swing, and the group was having fun. The gym was decorated with gold and red streamers. Pinkie had compiled a list of Gold 's favorite songs. The party was coming to a close, and Sunset and Pinkie went outside.
"So, how us feeling?" asked Sunset.
"Still a little bit sad, but I know Gold would have wanted this," said Pinkie. "How about you?"
"Preaty much the same." Sunset sighed. "I just can't believe what happened. It all went so fast."
"I can agree with that." Pinkie looked to Sunset. "Hey Sunset, do you think it's weird that we both liked Gold?"
Sunset smiled. "Considering that Burst is dating Celestia and Moon, I think it's fine."
"Just wanted to see if you found it weird." Pinkie giggled. "I actually thought you wouldn't like it."
"Come on Pinkie." Sunset gave Pinkie a side hug. "I'm not the old me."
"Yeah, I know. Come on. They might be waiting for us inside."
"Yeah, let's head in." Sunset and Pinkie were about to go in, when they felt a strange energy. They turned around, and saw a portal open up.
A figure came out of the portal. He had a gold duel disk. "Am I too late for the party?"
"Gold?" Sunset and Pinkie had tears of joy in there eyes.
"Hello girls." The two ran up, and tackled Gold with a hug.
"It really is you," said Pinkie.
"We thought you were gone," said Sunset.
"Well, I'm not. I'm here in the flesh."
"How did you get back?" asked Sunset.
"That's a story the whole group should here." Gold pushed himself up. "How about we head inside?"
"Sounds good to me." Sunset gave Gold a kiss.
"Hey, don't forget about me." Pinkie kissed Gold as well.
"This is a good day." The three of them headed inside.
