More Than Just Sisters

A Bad Day at Work

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Three days had passed since they arrived home and Monday morning, the day they were set to return to work, arrived. The two were not thrilled but knew that they had to get up. Flitter stretched herself out and sighed, "Well Cloudy, we better get ready for work."

Cloudchaser crawled on top of her and suggested, "You know Flittie, we could always rest for a few more minutes! We'll have time to get to work."

While that did sound good to Flitter, she wanted to be at her best that day. She crawled out from under Cloudchaser and replied, "Cloudchaser, I would love to do that but I want to get showered and I want to eat a real breakfast, not just a measly protein bar." She stood up and continued, "Remember, the rainy season starts today and the clouds are going to be heavier than normal."

Despite knowing Flitter knew what she was talking about, Cloudchaser could only sigh in frustration over her sister's work first mindset that morning. When Flitter headed in to take a shower alone, Cloudchaser was stunned. The last time they took a shower alone was the day that she dumped Thunderlane and she couldn't help but wonder what was going on.

In just a few minutes Flitter got out of the shower and Cloudchaser wanted to know what this was all about. She asked, "Flittie, what is wrong? We haven't showered alone in ages!"

Flitter replied, "Cloudy, like I said, I want us to have a real breakfast today and with everything we do in the shower, it will be quicker for us to take separate ones."

Cloudchaser sighed, "Yeah, you're right." She headed towards the shower and continued, "I'll be out for breakfast shortly."

While Cloudchaser could understand where her sister was coming from, she still couldn't help but wonder why Flitter was so focused on work when just a few days ago she wasn't exactly thrilled to be returning home.

Once the two showered and ate, they headed off to work and prepared for a frantic day of moving in storm clouds. Once they got clocked in they began to fill the skies with the clouds that had been brought in from Cloudsdale. Both sisters were bringing in the clouds quicker than they had in quite some time.

Rainbow saw this and was obviously impressed with what she saw. She approached them and said, "Wow ladies, it looks like that vacation did you some good. I haven't seen you work this hard in quite some time."

Flitter replied, "Yeah, sometimes some time away from home does the mind a whole lot of good."

Rainbow said, "Well keep up the good work ladies."

As Rainbow headed off to handle her own clouds, she was stopped by two Canterlot guards. While having two large guard ponies confronting a pony would intimidate them, it didn't bother Rainbow one bit. She asked, "Hi guys, what can I do for you."

One of them asked, "Have you seen Flitter and Cloudchaser? Princess Celestia needs to speak to them."

Rainbow asked in return, "And why does she want to speak to them? Doesn't she know that the rainy season starts today and I need their work to make this happen?"

The guard spread his wings wide hoping to scare Rainbow a bit and continued, "Look, something happened with those two on their vacation that the princess needs to speak to them."

Rainbow was shocked that her two best workers would do anything on their vacation that would result in Celestia wanting to speak to them directly. She sighed, "Follow me, I'll lead you to them."

She led them over to where the two sisters were putting clouds in place for the rain to start that evening. She yelled, "Flitter, Cloudchaser, you have ponies who want to talk to you."

When the two saw the guards they both had a bad feeling as to what it was about but they weren't about to show any signs of nervousness. Flitter stared at the guards and asked, "Why do you want to speak to us?"

The guard replied, "I can't reveal any details right now but Celestia needs to speak to both of you over events that transpired on your vacation."

Cloudchaser gasped, "Events that transpired on our vacation?"

Rainbow asked, "Ladies, what happened on your vacation that Celestia would want to speak to you?"

Cloudchaser replied, "I think I know why but I'm not going to speculate."

Rainbow had a feeling that whatever it was was something that she may need to be there for her two best workers. She glared at the guards and said, "Well if you're taking them up there, I'm joining you. I don't know what is going on but I smell a rat."

One of the guards ordered, "You stay here, Celestia wants to speak to these two, not you."

Rainbow got in their face and replied, "Princess Celestia knows me personally and for your information, I have helped save Equestria on multiple occasions so I doubt she will mind."

It was then that the two knew who she was and had no problems with her joining them. When they began to take off Flitter asked, "Rainbow, don't you think you better tell everypony that you're leaving?"

Rainbow replied, "Nah, they know their assignments so they should be fine....."

Before she could say anything further, one of the guards ordered, "Now let's go. Princess Celestia is waiting and I'm sure we don't want her to wait too long."

The five took off for Canterlot. The guards flew in front and the three mares flew behind them. Rainbow flew close to Flitter and Cloudchaser and said, "Ladies, I'm sure this is just some sort of misunderstanding but regardless of what is going on, I've got your backs."

Flitter replied, "Thanks, we appreciate it."

Cloudchaser added, "I have a feeling about what this is but we're both glad you'll be there for us."

After hearing this Rainbow couldn't help but be curious as to what was going on. She couldn't bring herself to believe that her two best workers would do anything wrong but would show her loyalty and stand by their sides no matter what.
