Tenebris purred, curled up on the couch like a cat. He was playing chess with his mothpony daughter, Biame. Biame's eyes were heterochromatic; the left navy blue, and the right dark yellow. Her wings had a pink membrane, with cyan circles within yellow ones, and angular green lines connecting them. She had a moth-like abdomen, with silvery yellow stripes. She also had six hooves, as her rear-most hooves were pushed slightly back on her body. She had a proboscis that extended out from under her tongue. This causesd her to speak with a bit of a lisp. Tenebris himself was much less colorful: Void black coat, stark white mane and tail. His eyes changed color from warm blue to semi-dark green to soft red. They were currently a sort of orange-green.

"Biame dear, you look like you're trying to diffuse a black and white bomb," Tenebris said, reaching over and stroking her mane. She had him outnumbered and outgunned, but still looked quite nervous, like she was still in danger of losing. She nuzzled his hoof a little, and said,

"S-Sorry. It's just that mom warned me how good you were at chess," Tenebris's ears perked up at the mention of his wife, reference to her making him want to smile and cuddle something purely on instinct. His tail started wagging as well, his brain releasing happy-hormones in metaphorical buckets.

Tenebris leaned over the chess board, and wrapped his hooves around Biame to hug her tightly, smiling broadly and making a soft purring noise as he did.

"That may be true, but when you have thirteen more pieces than me, you're pretty much set for victory," Tenebris chuckled, kissing the top of her head between her antenna. Biame looked at the board, then up at Tenebris. She then smiled, and nodded, nuzzling him.

"I guess I was overreacting a little," She sighed. Tenebris booped her nose and answered,

"Only a little?" Biame laughed, and kissed his cheek.

"Yes, only a little," She giggled. Tenebris pulled away, sitting back across from her. Biame moved her piece, calling check. Three checks later, there was a mate, and Biame claimed victory.

"Well played, little mothpony," Tenebris said, smiling at her as he nudged his King over onto its side. Biame smiled, and nodded.

"Thanks dad!" She said, standing up.

"I have to go water my plants now, bye," She declared, kissing his cheek and trotting away with a bounce in her step. Tenebris smiled, watching her go. He then yawned, and wondered what to do next. He also wondered where his wife Camy was, so he went off in search of her first. He peeked into the kitchen, and surprisingly she wasn't there. If she wasn't with him, she was either making something delicious, or she was in her study. Tenebris checked there, just to be sure. Gelirein was organizing it, but no Camy.

"She must be in bed," He said to himself, turning and trotting back through the kitchen to the Master Bedroom. Tenebris knocked on the door lightly. The floor of the room was soft purple carpet like a cushion. –Camy's idea.– The bed was king-size, and mainly furnished with reds and blacks. The bed had a veil about it, which was a recent addition. "Camy? I was looking for you, where were you hiding?" Tenebris said, kissing her hoof, which made her giggle, and pull her ticklish hoof away.

"I was in the bath. I fell asleep again," She said, kissing her hoof in the same spot he had. Tenebris nodded, his cheeks going a bit red from her action.
