These Are The Days Of Our Lives

The sun started to rise over the quiet and peaceful town of Ponyville. Ponies were going about their commute to work or school. Some even looked depressed, just waiting for the day to be over. So they can go back to their beds.. well, Spike was one of them. He was sitting on the couch he fell asleep on the night before, he was looking out the window, watching, waiting for his friends to arrive so he can break the news. The news that will change not only his life but their lives too. After an hour of waiting, the inevitable was about to take place. The front door slowly creaked open and 6 mares who he had known for so many years came into the shiny and clean castle, all with smiling faces except for Twilight, who had a slightly somber expression. Spike didn't like seeing someone he associates as his mother to be like this. But it was understandable given the circumstances of the situation.

Applejack and Rarity sat down on the couch, while Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Pinkie Pie sat on the reclining chairs. Fluttershy just sat on the tiled floor

Spike looked over at Twilight

''Have you told them why they're here?”.. Twilight looked uneasy at Spikes question and nodded a simple 'no'. Spike sighed and just let it out

''Alright, everyone.... The results came back from my AIDs test that I took a few days back..''.. Spike stopped and instantly looked somber, he couldn't muster the words of ''I'm dying'' or ''I have this thing'', but Fluttershy got the hint and suddenly burst into tears, she was screaming and crying hysterically just like Twilight was the night before, she ran up to spike and wrapped her hooves around him. It wasn't long before Applejack caught on. She pulled her hat down to her chest and her ears folded back

''I-I'm sorry, But I have one year left... I got it from DJ PON3.. last week'' Spike said, he was crying again. Face in his hands and all

''S-Sugarcube... Ah'm so sorry'' she whispered into his neck as she walked up and hugged him, never wanting to ever let go, meanwhile Spike just hung his head and closed his eyes tight, he didn't like seeing them in this state. Rainbow, Pinkie and Rarity eventually caught on with tears forming, Rainbow Dash was obviously trying to hide her own tears. But she failed and started to wail and cry, and they all proceeded to sprint up to him and take up any remaining space on Spikes body to snuggle. The room was silent except for Fluttershy and Rainbow's wailing and sobbing, but even that was muffled because of the tight grip they both had on Spike as they cried into his shoulder

''W-What do you mean by a year?'' Fluttershy sniffled, still not letting go of Spikes arm, of which she was clinging to thinking that if she let go he'd fade into nothing

''I mean, one year, 52 weeks, 365 days, 8760 Hours.. 525600 minutes'' Spike confirmed, his voice cracking with every number. Time was ticking and his time was running out.

''Sugarcube, Ah promise. We'll be here ta take care of you'' Applejack said, she, much like Fluttershy, was clinging onto him for dear life and never wanting to ever release him from her grip

''Thank you, all of you. I want to make this the best year of my life, not just my final one'' Spike whispered to all of them, he was determined to do everything he wanted to do, he was determined to take one final wave to the world when his time comes, he wanted his final Christmas to be one that his friends will never forget when he departs into the cosmos and most of all. He wanted nothing more than his final weeks to be filled with love, comfort and friendship.

As the saying goes... ''Friends Will Be Friends''
