//-------------------------------------------------------// An Old Platinum Crown -by Bro Dash- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Crown //-------------------------------------------------------// The Crown "I'm sorry rarity, but you can't keep the crown. As much as I'd love to give the old, tarnished one away, I can't." "Tarnished? Dear, that is not tarnished. Its brand new! You had to have gotten it from the maker but a few days ago." "Believe me, this is tarnished. It's over a thousand years old!" "But...How? The decor would be horrible, the fabric woudl be dust, and the platinum would be bland, and probably a different color!" "That's why it's so heavy. The fabric is actually metal. But that's not the point. I can't just give it away." "And why is that? It's just a harmless crown!" "A harmless crown? Hardly. If anything, this is far from harmless. In fact it is a magic crown. Or at least that is what I've been told by my scientists. They found it had magic as equal as mine, but it's dormant." "Then why do you still use it in the play?" "Because, they discovered it just recently, during the last play, a month ago. I've been keeping it locked up in the magic vault for that reason. An actual new one will be made soon. But it will have to be an exact replica of the original. So far the only thing we know of it's magic is that it is very dormant." "Well then...I understand. But...If you don't mind, I'd like to atleast borrow it for the night. I was hoping to use it as inspiration for some robes I was making. Royal robes, dear. And if anything, platinum is the new gold." "Hmm. Maybe I should get a new regalia made in platinum." "Dear, you look good enough in what you are wearing. I say that it might make you look a lot less different than you'd expect. Gold goes perfect with white." "Oh, thank you." "And referring to my before mentioned question, may I borrow the crown just for the night?" "I don't see much harm in it. I mean, you did use it once, so there isn't much damage it could do with the same pony." "Oh, thank you, Princess Celestia." "Don't mention it. I'll have it brought to your room in a few minutes. What about Twilight, though? Last I saw her she quite literally built the Notre Dame bell towers with books, in the library.", Celestia's face showed a concerned expression. "Something about studying. And...about those towers, she put in bells and rings them every hour on the hour. Maybe you should get that book of the hunchback pony from her." "Hmm. That can be a problem. I'll see to it." "Well, I'll retire to my quarters." Celestia nodded and Rarity returned to her room. Immediately getting back to work, she didn't notice when one of the servants left the crown with her. As she measured one thing, sowed another, and then viewed the dress from afar, she finally noticed the crown sitting on one of the desks. Droppin her magical holds, the pin cushion fell, the sewing machine cut off, and the ponnequin returned to it's leaping pose. "Wonderful! I can feel that inspiration already." Setting he crown atop her head, she squeed and giggled, putting the crown on a blank ponnequin. "Now, seems that is would require something...different. I can see that set of robes fitting...But...there is something that is severely needed..." As Prince Blueblood knocked on the door, Rarity was stil deep in thought, and barely even finished saying "Come." As he entered, he was met with a very unfashioned mare. He had seen Rarity before, but not like she was when at work. Her mane has a few strands out of place, her attire was a measuring tape, a rtractable pin cushion hooflet, and even a pair of red glasses. "Uhm...", Blueblood began. "Blueblood!", Rarity drew her attention from the ponnequin, straightening her mane, "What brings you here?" ""Prince", Blueblood." "Oh, apologies. It's jsut, your entry was sudden." "Apologies from me as well. I have come to make a request." As the two began deep in conversation, the spell inlaid inside of the crown's housing became active, weaving black letters that slithered around the two ponies in the room. "So, as I see it, my normal white outfit is getting old." The letters circled their hooves. "Oh, I see. But you would prefer something garish, wouldn't you?", Rarity asked. A character slipped under each of their hooves, activating the spell. "Well, I wouldn't quite say something garish. I mean, something to show off, but...Something...to...Oh my...I feel a bit light headed...Mind if I..." After Blueblood fell over, Rarity, who had been on the same course, panicked as she began to lose feeling in her hooves. "My...It's...Is it? Is...It contagious?" As she fell over, the spell took them both in, finishing it's course of magic and bringing them to teh destination it had to deliver them to. Waking up to something holding her, Rarity could barely see in her dazed state. But, something was definitely hoding her. Tightly. Focusing on what it was, she noticed the familiar veil of magic. It was blue. "Uhm...Who is holding me?" Turned rigth saide up, she saw Blueblood, who set her down. "What happened?" "I'm not quite sure, but, atleast we are in a field." "Field? What field?" "I don't know, it's jsut a field. There is a road over that hill, but I didn't want to go alone." "Oh, you big baby. Did you see anyone on the road?" "No, it's jsut a very slight trail through the field. Barely anypony has walked on it." "Well, let's follow it.", Rarity stood. "Do you even know where it goes?" "Not a clue, but we can't stay here. I have business to attend to, and so do you, I assume." "Yes, yes. Good idea." "Well then, lets go." Beginning at a trot, Rarity made it over the hill and found the pale trail, as Blueblood had said, but each direction ran in endless directions. "I've never seen this anywhere, and the nearest grassy fields to Canterlot is the fields that ponyville is built upon." "Maybe we're not near Canterlot." "Nonsense, we would have to be...unless." "Unless?" "The platinum crown. Celestia said that the crown had magic imbued inside of it that was as equal to hers." "But how is that possible? And why would you have it, knowing that?" "Well, I was using it as inspiration for a set of robes. But it didn't do anything...Till you came in! So it was you!" "Me? Do what, teleport us both to some unknown location? It doesn't work that way! And it couldn't have been me using it. I mean, I'd never use that thing. The first time they presented it to me I threw it to the ground, told them to hand it back to Celestia, and she then proceeded to use it within the plays. I don't see why she didn't just sell it." "Because it's a famous artifact! Queen Platinum herself wore that crown!", Rarity burst out. "Did I hear somepony say Queen Platinum?" An auburn coated stallion ran over the hill, coming to a stop in front of Rarity and Blueblood. "Well, I was taking a casual run through these fields, and couldn't help but overhear you two." "Oh, sorry, was I really that loud?" "Oh, no need to apologize. I would see why you would protect the queen, she is the greatest ruler we unicorns have had yet." "What are you getting at?" "Well, aside from the many troops she has caused us, she got us far into this war, and we still have yet to be defeated." Blueblood and Rarity looked at one another. "What. War?", Rarity asked. "Oh you're joking...You can't tell me you'd forget the war we're in." "Might I ask, where is Ponyville?" "Ponyville?" "Yes, should be position right in the fields at the foot of the mountain that Canterlot is built on the side of." "Fields yes, town, not so much. Where do you get these ideas?" "Could you give me and my friend here a moment?" "Lovers? Of course!" "Oh, dear, we're not lvoers, far from that.
