//-------------------------------------------------------// Catching A Rainbow -by Midnight Phoenix- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Day 1: Catching A Rainbow //-------------------------------------------------------// Day 1: Catching A Rainbow "Batter up!" The umpire yelled as next player walked on to the field. You were the coach of the little league baseball team, and you watched nervously as your team got dominated. It was the bottom of the sixth, two outs, two strikes, and bases were loaded. The team was down by three, but the batter hit a home run, you would officially be known as the coach that turned the team around. As the ball flew from the pitcher's hands, you prayed for a miracle. You began to look away, but when you heard the loud thud of the ball against a wooden bat, you immediately turned around. The ball wasn nowhere in sight. all of your teams' parents were yelling "homerun!". You looked at the scoreboard and couldn't believe your team actually won the game. You couldn't help but put a big smile on your face, not only for yourself, but for your team too. You began to pack up all of the bats, balls, and other supplies left in the dugout. All of the other kids went home with their parents. You put all the supplies in the truck of your car and started heading home. It was 7:00, and the suspense from tonights game made you desperate for sleep. You stopped at a red light. The radio in your car playing your songs, when suddenly, you notice a very faint Rainbow in the sky. You found it odd, considering it hasn't rain in a long time. When the light turned green you began to follow the rainbow to where it led. Not realizing how stupid it was to try and catch a rainbow. You managed to follow the trail as it led you a nearby park. It seemed oddly empty considering it was one of the biggest and most popular parks around. You got out of your car and began to walk around the park to find the end of the trail. You searched all over the park, but the trail had began to fade. You began to give up hope of finding whatever caused that trail, until you heard a rustling in a tree. You began to head towards it, and when you looked up, there was no doubt this definitely caused the trail. You couldn't believe it. The creature in the tree was very easy to identify, but you knew it was only fake. How was it possible that she actually managed to make it to the real world? Your common sense, paranoia, and reality began to battle each other all at once. This made absolutely no sense. But you decided to disregard your thoughts momentarily and rescue the poor little creature. By the looks of it, she was hit hard and she blacked out. So your best idea was to take her home and hopefully heal her. You carried her in your arms like a puppy as if she were sleeping. You put her in your car, on the passenger side and put a seatbelt on her. During the entire drive home, you couldn't help but stare at how cute she was. As you parked and got out of your car, you went around the other side to carry her in. As your drowsiness started to weigh down on you, all you could do before going to sleep was laying her on the couch, putting an ice pack for her head, and a warm blanket for her body. Looking at her one last time before heading upstairs, you couldn't help but wonder what would happen tomorrow.
