Thorax sighed heavily as he walked out onto one of the many balconies of Twilight's castle. He could feel the cold night are on his skin. It caused him to release a heavy sigh as he reached the balconies edge. He sat down and laid he upper-body on the railing; using his forelegs as a makeshift pillow, so he could lay his head down. He looked down at the ground below. He sighed again before a single tear fell from his left eye. The tear slowly rolled down his cheek and feel onto the railing. It was soon followed by another, then another, and another. Until the railing itself had a small puddle of tears on it.
“H-He was r-r-right,” Thorax sobbed as the emotions he tried to keep locked away started to come to the surface, “I'm a monster! I don't! I don't!” He couldn't even finish his sentence. He was too upset, too sad. Simply because of what had happened to him and his mates a few weeks ago.
(Grand Galloping Gala few weeks ago.)
The Grand Galloping Gala was in full swing. Some ponies were dancing or talking with others. While others sat at one of the many tables and ate with the ones they had come with. At one table Spike, Princess Ember, and Thorax sat together. All three of them were talking with one another; while they also ate and drank some of the delicious food that was being served. As they talked they caught the eye's of some of the more “Higher up” ponies. Some of them happily greeted them. While others completely ignored them or whispered rude comments behind their backs. But the three did not care; they were there to have a good time, and they were gonna have a good time.
“How are you two liking the Gala?” Spike asked.
Ember was the first to reply after she was done drinking from her glass, “I am having a good time hon,” She happily replied before she smiled at him, “Thank you for bringing us here.” She finished.
“Yeah,” Thorax agreed while he smiled at both of them, “Thank you for bringing us here, Cupita.” He finished which caused him to receive a loving kiss; not only from Spike, but also from Ember. He blushed a little as he brought one of his hooves up to his cheek.
A couple that sat at a table across from them noticed how the three were acting. The couple had looks of disgust on their faces. The couple almost became sick when the two dragons kissed the changeling. The mare took quick notice of the golden band on the changeling's hoof; she also saw similar bands on the dragons' wrists.
“Dear, what are those things they are wearing?” The mare asked just as the stallion finished his drink.
“Unity bands.” The stallion answered in a voice full of disgust.
“Unity bands?” The mare asked in a voice that was full of confusion.
“All three of them are bound by vows of love,” He answered with a voice full of disgust as he stared at the three in pure hatred, “It's disgusting and sickening. I still cannot believe that Princess Twilight allowed this too happen. I also can't believe Princess Celestia herself blessed that unity.” He finished almost growling out in anger.
“Why would the Princess bless such an atrocity?” The mare asked as she caught sight of the dragoness kissing the changeling on the lips. That action almost made her puke right then and there, “Is there something we can do to put an end to this?” She asked hoping that her husband would have and answer.
“Sadly dear, no,” He answered a voice filled with sadness, “There is nothing we can do.” He finished just as the three got up from the table and walked onto the dance-floor. Where they started to dance with each other.
Spike smiled happily as they took turns dancing with each other. Sometimes it would be him and Ember. Other times Ember and Thorax, and sometimes it would be him and Thorax dancing. He didn't care about what others though about them. He loved the two and they loved him and nothing wasn't going to break them apart. Once again it was Spikes turn to dance with Ember. Allowing Thorax to rest as he waited for his turn to dance again.
“You know you are not welcomed here.” A stallions voice from behind him said; it caused him to jump in surprise before he turned around. Allowing him to see the one and only Prince Blueblood standing behind him, “So why are you here, Insect?”
With a little fear in his voice Thorax replied, “I-I-I'm here with m-my mates.”
“Mates,” Blueblood laughed a little as he stared down the pitiful creature, “Do you honestly think those two, Horrible creatures.”
“Hey!” Thorax interrupted with much anger in his voice, “Don't talk about my mates like that, You obnoxious bag of hot air!” He finished pushing Blueblood back a little; which earned him a hard shove back. Knocking him onto his back.
“You dare touch me! You disgusting creature!” Blueblood growled as he used his magic to lift him up by his throat. Constricting Thorax's airway which made it hard for him to breath. With a wicked smile Blueblood brought the changeling close to his face, “Let me show you how much you are hated.” He finished before his eyes started to glow a sickening yellow followed by Thorax's glowing the same color.
“Thorax!” Spike shouted as both him and Ember ran towards the two. Ember quickly grabbed Thorax and pulled him away from Blueblood. While Spike punched Blueblood hard in the face; knocking him back a little, “What the Tartarus do you think you were doing! You bastard!” Spike growled while Blueblood slowly regained himself.
The first replied he heard was just a small chuckle before Blueblood lifted his head. Showing him the blood that was slowly falling out of both of both of his nostrils, “Showing that disgusting creature the truth.” He answered.
“Thorax!” Spike heard Ember shout which caused him to turn around. Allowing him to see Thorax running through the crowd and out through the door, “Thorax.” Ember shouted again before running after him.
“That's right!” Blueblood shouted as he felt the success of victory fill his heart, “Run you disgusting insect! Run until you.” He was interrupted by Spike grabbing his head and slamming it into a nearby table. Causing the table to break in half; while also knocking Blueblood out.
“Be glad that's the worst your getting from me!” Spike growled before he spat on Bluebloods face and ran after his mates. Leaving the ballroom and a lot of confused party-goers behind.
Spike searched for his mates all over the grounds of Canterlot castle. He called for them and he tried to use his sense of smell to locate them. But he had little luck at finding them. By now he was looking in Celestia's garden- an area that was off-limits to others except for those close to Celestia and Luna- he called for them again. But his answer was not a verbal answer; instead it was Ember's paw covering his maw.
“Mmphr!” Spike said in surprise.
“Shh!” Ember shushed him before removing her claw from his maw, “I found Thorax, come on.” She whispered as she started to walk away from him.
“Wait!” Spike said in a normal voice which caused Ember to flinch, “What's going- Mph!” He was interrupted when Embers' claw was over his maw once again.
“SHH!” Ember hushed him again before she removed her claw again, “Be quiet!” She hissed out which caused a look of fear to appear on Spikes face, “Now come on.” She finished before she started to lead him to their mate.
In a matter of seconds the two had come to a large fountain. Where they saw Thorax standing at the edge of it; looking down into the water at his reflection. By the way he was slumped over; he was still extremely sad. Both of them could heard him sobbing softly while his tears feel into the fountain.
“Thorax.” Spike said softly as he started to slowly walk out from where the two were hiding.
(Why must I be called a freak?)
Spike came to a quick stop after he heard Thorax say that.
(Why must I be called a monster?)
Ember gasped softly after hearing that.
(I'm called these things almost every week.)
Thorax looked down at his reflection in the water below.
(I wish they could see that I am no monster but a lover.)
A single tear fell from his eye and into the water.
(I've been beaten simply because of the way I look.)
Both Spike and Ember could not believe what they heard. If that was true; the ponies who dare harmed their mate. Had better count their days.
(I don't want to worry my lovers; but the bruises are starting to become harder to hide.)
Thorax slowly lifted his left foreleg up and looked at the bruise underneath his arm.
(I feel like I'm stuck in a horror book.)
A few more tears feel from his eyes.
(I wish they knew how much I'm hurting on this inside.)
Spike was fighting the urge to run up and hug his mate.
(I wish my loved ones were here to dry my eyes and to hold me as I cry.)
Ember was also fighting the urge to comfort her mate.
(I bet they would have better lives without me, god, I wish I would die.)
Both Spike's and Ember's eye's went wide in horror.
(It would better if I was dead they wouldn't miss me. I bet their lives would be so much easier. I think I can finally see clearly. If I was dead their lives would be better.)
With a heavy sight Thorax slumped down to the ground.
(Am I the reason they are shunned and hated?)
“No you're not.” Ember whispered.
(Maybe if I was something else; all of us will finally be accepted.)
“We don't want something else! We want you!” Spike almost growled.
(I'm a stupid nobody with no purpose in life.)
“You are our mate!” Ember said softly as tears feel from her eye's.
(I cause my loved ones nothing but strife.)
“No you don't.” Spike said while tears also fell from his eye's.
(Maybe I should consider taking my own life.)
That statement almost made both dragon's heart's stop.
(Maybe I should commit suicide; so that I can finally die.)
Thorax released a very sad sob.
(I beg and beg for my death every day. But my prayers and pleas go unanswered to my dismay. It pains me to say that I don't want to live. I hope my loved ones will learn to forgive. But I want to end them pain. So if my death can end it all then please; pass me a blade so I can slice open my vein.)
Both Spike and Ember then looked towards each other. Both of them gave the other a nod and started to walk towards him.
(That's it I've made my decision!)
Thorax released another loud sob.
(I-I-I-I'm going to end my life tonight.)
Both Ember and Spike felt of jolt of pain hit their hearts.
(I hope my loved ones can understand my reason.)
Thorax shut his eyes tightly.
(I'm going to set everything right.)
“So are we.” Ember whispered as the two continued to walk towards him.
(I'm so sorry but this is goodbye!)
“No! It's not!” Spike growled.
(But this is the night that I finally die!)
Thorax gasped loudly as he felt two arms wrap around him. His eyes shot open allowing him to see both of his mates. They were hugging him tightly and they were also crying heavily. This confused him a little until he realized what might have done this.
“Ember...Spike,” He said in a voice just barely above a whisper, “I-I.”
“Shh,” Both of them hushed him as they nuzzled him lovingly.
“It's okay, Thorax.” Spike whispered.
“We're here now,” Ember said before both of them gently kissed him on his cheeks, “And we love you.” She finished before he hugged both of them and all of them started crying.
(Back to the present)
Thorax sighed heavily as he rested his head on the cold stone of the railing. The more he though about what happened. The more he would feel unwanted and useless. Yes, his mates were always there whenever he needed them. But it did not stop the memories from coming back. Especially those that Blueblood had put into his mind. What he saw was his species feeding and holding the innocent hostage. Holding them against their will almost as if they were property.
“Am I a monster?” He asked in a voice just barely above a whisper before he looked up at the starry night sky.
(I hear the hurtful words they whisper about me and my lovers.)
Thorax saw a shooting star soaring across the sky.
(They say the love they give me is pity, and that I am unlovable.)
He didn't want to believe his own words. But he could help but allow a few tears to fall.
(I love them like no other.)
With a heavy sigh he sat down and bowed his head.
(But who could love a monster that looks so horrible.)
Now, there was nothing he could do to stop the tears from falling.
(I-I-I love the warmth I feel when w-w-we sleep together.)
He shivered a little when he felt a large gust of wind blow past his body.
(I wish all three of us c-co-could stay like that forever.)
He brought his right hoof up and punched the balcony in anger.
(But the mirror reminds me that I am the definition of terror.)
“I hate myself.” He whispered to the silent night air.
(Nobody will ever love me not now or ever.)
He let out an involuntary hiss of anger.
(They are always there for me when I cry.)
Unknown to him the balcony slowly opened.
(They hug me and whisper sweet and caring words in my ears.)
Thorax then released a very sad sigh.
(I'm so very sorry my dears.)
He then looked back up to the sky.
(But I want to die.)
He sighed again knowing full well that he was alone.....or so he thought.
(There is a reason why we're together.)
Thorax gasped loudly as he turned around; allowing him to see both Spike and Ember standing right behind him.
(We love you with all our hearts.)
Spike started to walk towards him.
(We made vows to stay together forever.)
Thorax had tears forming in his eyes once again.
(So please don't let others tear us apart.)
Spike then came to a stop just in front of Thorax. Only to open his arms up wide.
(Come here and let me hold you in my arms.)
Thorax slowly walked into Spikes caring embrace. Allowing him to wrap his arms around his body.
(It's okay to cry after all I don't mind.)
Thorax released a small sniffle as his mate held him.
(I will never let you or her be harmed.)
Now Thorax was crying and flooding Spikes back with his tears.
(Because both of you are mine.)
Spike's arms tightened around Thorax a little.
(It okay. Let it all out baby. I should have noticed sooner. I'm so sorry!)
After that Ember slowly walked up and hugged both of them.
(Do both of you remember what tonight is?)
Both Spike and Thorax looked up at her. Allowing them to see her eyes; which held nothing but love for both of them.
(The stars are shinning bright; the heavens have got it right.)
She then kissed both of them on the lips.
(This is the night when we became this.)
She then hugged both of them close to her body.
(It all happened on this blessed night.)
She released them from her hug and started to lead them back to their bedroom.
(Three hearts joined together in loving unity. Always there for the other.)
In a matter of minutes all of them were back in their room. Where all three of them lay together in the bed. With Thorax lying in between the two dragons.
(From now until eternity. I'm very happy to call both of you my lovers!)
All three of them shared a very passionate kiss. Which soon turned into something more in a matter of seconds. Out in the hallway Starlight glimmer slowly and very quietly walked back to her room. As she made her way down the hall she heard what sounded like a groaning sound. A look of confusion appeared on her face as she walked towards where the sound came from. She soon reached a partially opened door-which lead to Spike's, Ember's, and Thorax's room- and looked inside. But just as soon as she looked in; she quickly backed away. A look of shock and a light blush appeared on her face. She quickly resumed her walk back to her room. Once their she entered her room and pressed her back against the door and sighed heavily.
“I didn't think Changeling's could bend like that.” She whispered out of embarrassed astonishment and a little bit of arousal.
