~Everypony wants to have friends. They want to have someone to share memories with, to chat with, and to have late-night pillow fights with. For some, the desire to form friendships is great. For others, it’s all there is to live for. And for one pony, the whole lot of it is irrelevant. ~
~She just wants to be famous. ~
The wind blew a cool breeze through the tattered branches of the Everfree Forest. It kept the dark twisted passageways a comfortable cool temperature, a break from the grueling heat found in Ponyville summers. The sun still loomed over the horizon, spelling out the break of sunset over the bleak woods. Of course, none of this mattered to a certain azure pony. She was far too caught up in recent exchanges to even remotely care. Somehow, she had found herself engaged in what seemed to be a magic duel with an unwieldy appearing alicorn. The exact details of the arrangement had already blurred in her memory. It was something involving a trip to Ponyville, a few careless words, and the accidental projection of a tomahawk.
“As if you could defeat the Great and Powerful Trixie in a challenge of magic and wits, you must be crazy!” Exclaimed the robed mare, “Trixie is capable of performing feats beyond your wildest imagination!”
These words seemed to glide right over the male pony’s head, the formal, in appearance, alicorn simply smirking to her. “Yes, well, let’s get down to business.” His voice rang through as smoothly as something that is very smooth. “I’ll allow you the first move.”
The delightfully confident unicorn dug her hooves into the ground, her short wagon to the side compromising the entire distance between the combatants. “Trixie will see that you regret that decision!” She begun with a relatively simple move. How she could have possibly expected it to work is beyond comprehension, though this tale is not woven in an attempt to understand the inner machinations of Trixie’s psyche, so it will remain a mystery. She kicked up the dirt and soil around her enemy with a quick burst of magic, splattering it messily against his legs.
“Is that all? Seems I have over-estimated you.” Of course that’s impossible in Trixie’s mind one cannot over-estimate somepony as great and powerful as her. “It is no matter, it will only make this little scuffle end quicker.” He hovered a rope, nabbed conveniently from Trixie’s wagon, close, and in a blinding flash tied it around her legs. It would only take a brief struggle before she was held aloft helplessly in the air, dangled precariously by her legs.
“What is the meaning of this? Explain to Trixie why you find it necessary to employ the use of such low-level tricks!” She squirmed in her tight holdings, her hat having fallen to the ground, providing a rather silly sight for any would-be onlookers.
“It’s quite simple really. You see, I’ve heard of you through the grape-vine. I know all about your fabrications involving the Ursa Major.” He trotted closer to Trixie, eye level with the comically upside-down unicorn. “And seeing as you can’t even begin to imagine what true power really is, I’m going to put you through a little game, to help you come to terms.”
Trixie wasn’t going to have any of this, and rammed her head forward, head-butting the condescending stallion to great effect. “Trixie isn’t going to have any of this!”
He staggered back a step, holding a bare hoof up to his bruised snout. “Ugh, I didn’t peg you as such the ruffian… If you would like to play it that way however, I’ll spare you the rules. Enjoy the game, little hayseed.”
The long horn of the alicorn suddenly illuminated with a sickening dark glow, complementing his white coat nicely. Trixie glared to him, still trying to break her bindings, not in the least worried about what he was planning. Even if she had been concerned, it wouldn’t have prepared her for what happened next. The entire world around her began to spin, a grueling sense of vertigo overcoming her mental facilities. She clutched her eyes tightly, taking rapid shallow breaths.
“Trixie demands that you cease this now!” Much to her delight, he did. The blue tinted unicorn felt herself land on the ground with a soft thud, signaling her freedom from the tight constraints of her rope. Before she could gather her bearings, she heard a voice overhead, one that must have belonged to her foe, even if it sounded strangely loud and distant now.
“Goodbye Trixie, I’m sure we’ll meet again soon.” And just as mysteriously as he showed up, in a nondescript flash, he vanished.
Trixie relished in a deep sigh, stumbling up to her hooves in fashion that denied elegance. What she saw as she stood defied belief. She seemed to be left standing on a soft ground, with surrounded by dark blue walls that appeared to be fabric. Above her was an opening to the ever-darkening forest. She stepped around in this new setting, mumbling to herself about the residual scent of her mane-shampoo that lingered in the air. As she clambered up over the edge, and put her front legs over the rim of this bizarre hole, her spirits dropped faster than Derpy’s anvil delivery services.
The great and powerful unicorn had set her sights on her show wagon, which now stretched upwards higher than any building she had seen in her country tours. If that wasn’t distressing enough, she’d notice the grass around her would be just as tall as her. She had become a pathetically small pony!
The diminutive mind of the self-proclaimed prodigy raced. Grasping for some sort of explanation for the situation, her mental hooves failing to retrieve any sane conclusion, she simply stared around, dumbfounded. It really looked kind of adorable. The little mare hanging over her hat with a hilarious gaping maw expression, any passerby would stop and gawk. Though, either to Trixie’s dismay or delight, there would be no such passing pony. It’s the Everfree Forest, why would there be?
This repeated attempt to obtain a higher level of understanding would repeat itself over the course of the next few minutes. During this time, the azure mare would have toppled over to the outside world, left sitting on her flank in dirty dirt. She would soon wobble up to her four hooves, and abandon any further attempts to understand her predicament. After all, there’s really no point in wasting her time with petty comprehension.
She took the opportunity to gauge her new surroundings. While they were familiar, it was all far too different. Mere bumps in the road became hills, pebbles became boulders, and even her hat sat next to her as some giant immovable obstacle! Of course, this no longer served to daunt the great and powerful mare. If anything, this was little more than a small setback; she’d be back up to her natural glory in no time!
The unicorn turned her attention to her travel wagon. The faded words spelling out ‘The Great and Powerful Trixie’ hung high over her head, further serving to reassure her ego, even in this tiny form. Of course, it didn’t appear as if it would follow her now. It would be quite the feat for her to pull this vehicle now, one she was not ready to try now.
So, she set out on hoof, stepping along the soil in an incredibly slow manner. Of course she had no idea where she was going, and what her new goal would be now that she had been cursed so, but it all really didn’t matter to her inflated ego. She’d figure something out soon enough, she just needed some… Walking time to mull it over, yes, that’s it! The unicorn continued at her own brisk pace, as night began to descend.
It had to have been an entire uneventful hour before she stumbled upon anything of remote interest. Through the scrapes of blades of grass, and the obstacles of surmounting stray twigs, she had stumbled upon a light gleaming high. The unicorn trotted closer, and after a bit of far investigation, was able to come to a conclusion amidst the darkness. This had to be a house! Or a hut! Or a shanty, whatever it is, somepony had to live there! It’s not like Trixie had any intentions of associating with anypony that made their home in such a place as this, but her options were fairly limited now, and shelter for the night seemed like a good idea.
The azure mare staggered around the soil, silently thankful for the lack of insect life as she searched for some entrance. She began to doubt the ease of this task as she finally made contact with the bark exterior of the dwelling, and begin to skirt along the outsides to no avail. Though, through some stroke of luck, she’d eventually find herself bathed in light, a light which was quickly followed by a dark overhead shadow.
The unicorn shot her gaze upwards, and it was met with one of the strangest ponies Trixie had ever laid eyes on.
“My, it looks like you were stricken by a curse! Come here, I have just the thing to nurse.” And with that, the bizarre, outlandish pony bent down and plucked up the tiny unicorn faster than she could react, dragging her into places unknown.

Chapter 1: Epic Conquest
~First impressions are vital. These initial impressions gauge conversation, respect levels, and generally how one will perceive another, unless that second pony works hard to prove these impressions to be false. Needless to say, it’s desirable to leave lasting positive impressions~
Trixie was whisked away in a flash, the walls around her dissipating in a multi-color blur. She resisted, of course, during her brief trip, though it mattered for naught, as she was soon dropped rather carelessly onto a smooth brown surface. If she had to guess what it was, she’d stake her bits on wood. The unicorn had touched down on her back, allowing her a perfect view of the humble abode. That is, she /would/ be allowed a perfect view, if a large majority of her vision wasn’t consumed by the enormous face of her host.
“Tell me, little mare, how did you befall a form so un-fair?” The strange pony held her head directly above the somewhat dazed magician, her words washing her breath over the great and powerful unicorn. It honestly wasn’t as repulsive as Trixie would have believed, and actually possessed a rather minty aroma.
“Ugh! Haven’t you ever heard of breath-mints?” Trixie scrambled up to her hooves, before stretching her leg out, giving a rather ‘forceful’ boop to the larger mare’s nose. “And Trixie will let you know that if you call her little once more, she will ensure you regret this encounter!” Her voice came out as high-pitched, maybe even squeaky, which is surely something that would be ridiculed had her host not been as respectful.
The striped pony leaned back away from her delightful guest. “Relax, my friend, it is your dilemma that I wish to end.” She fished out a small book, adorned with a green cover, from a shelf nearby the one that held Trixie. “You must tell me, have you had an encounter with a disruptive pony?”
The azure unicorn stepped closer to edge of the wooden shelving as the other pony placed her readings down, “Trixie will have you know, she need not accept help from any less talented than her.” She looked up and down the black and white giant before her, “But… if you are curious, Trixie may be able to spare a few details.”
A small sigh came from the bangle-wearing pony’s lips. This houseguest seemed to be a little too feisty for her own good. “Good, the quicker the villain may be found, the sooner all will be safe and sound.” She pulled open the bindings off the book, the front cover landing directly at Trixie’s hooves. “Please describe the one responsible, and I may be able to prove this situation remediable.”
Trixie trotted onto the paper pages of the book, hindering any attempts to read as she assumed a much more fitting higher position. “The stallion that wronged Trixie so was a downright despicable ruffian, and he had both wings and a horn, something that completely tipped the odds in such an unfair manner. Not that the Great and Powerful Trixie couldn’t handle him of course, neigh, it’s quite the contrary! He was on the ropes, quite literally Trixie may add, before he pulled such a disgraceful move. He kicked dirt in Trixie’s eyes, the rapscallion, and then placed this hex upon her!” Her entire accurate re-telling of the encounter was made complete with bizarre and energetic gestures by Trixie, truly putting together a play on words.
“Ah, so it is indeed the same one, which has all this evil done.” The host pony moves closer to Trixie once more, “Outside is not fit for one in such a state as you, I will find someplace for you to stay, until your cure is due.”
“Until my cure is due? Trixie will have you know that she will not be waiting around until some unwieldy buffoon can get her act together!” The small unicorn would have none of this idle rest, not in the hooves of some other bumbling idiot!
“And as so, Trixie will be pursuing her revenge the old fashioned way, one as great and powerful as she need not be placed under some mamby-pamby protection program!” The wizard hopped off the book, walking herself over to the shelf edge. “However, Trixie requires lodging for the night. She knows barbaric woods-dwellers such as you may not have appropriate beddings, but she supposes it will have to do.” The azure mare shot a demanding look up to her host, not in the least intimidated by the massive size difference between the pair.
The striped pony was taken back by the gall of this unicorn. Here she was, welcoming this traveler into her abode, and she wasn’t even the least bit thankful! She leaned closer to her little catch, green eyes staring daggers at her. “I’ll have you know, little mare, to tempt me is an act you shouldn’t dare!”
It should come as no surprise that Trixie wasn’t even the least bit intimidated by her larger compatriot. "Hah, Trixie does believe this is a challenge! Well, she will have YOU know,” her statement was punctuated with another hoof-boop to the striped pony’s snout, “that she will be getting what she demands, and that is final!”
The tribal pony stood up straight once more, “I will only warn you once more, keep it up, and you will go out the door!” Surely this would shut Trixie up. The threat of being left outside over-night would definitely invoke a feeling of dread!
“Hah, as if some simpleton like you would ever try something as remotely daring as that!” Trixie smiled a smug grin as she looked up to the other pony, who was positively fuming by now. “Trixie bets that in only a few minutes, you’ll be begging to keep me here!”
A few minutes later, Trixie would find herself scrambling in the dark earthly soil. She stood after a brief struggle to shout out to the wood-dweller, to let her know of the repercussions of this heresy, though her tiny voice was easily quelled by the slamming door above.
“Throwing Trixie out… That idiot will get what’s coming to her soon enough.” The unicorn muttered to herself as she attempted to gauge her surroundings. This would be no easy task, as all around her she would only find an oppressive darkness. That is, except for two large red orbs hanging in the sky only a few inches above the mare.
Allowing curiosity to take the best of her, she stepped forward to examine the strange sight, and was greeted with a soft, cold wall. Rubbing her nose after having bumped into this peculiar scenery, she squinted to get a better look. It was then that she would find herself being thrown into one of the most deadly scenarios of her life, thus far.
She was met with a loud hiss, which quickly grew into what sounded like an aggressive growl. Allowing her instincts to take over, Trixie dived off to the side, an impressive thud shaking the ground behind her. She wasted no time in escaping this confusing enemy, her legs carrying her swiftly in the opposite direction. She would continue in this manner for the next few seconds, before she found herself tumbling face-first into a thorn filled bush.
“Aghh!” She screamed out, rather childishly, as her injuries amounted to a splinter’s worth of damage. “That damnable pony, when Trixie gets her hooves on her…” She staggered through the prickly nest, though that only served to multiply her wounds, if they were traumatizing enough to be called such. “Throwing someone as great and powerful as her out! She’ll regret thi-“ Trixie’s rambling speech was cut short by that recognizable hissing, the two red orbs once again hovering above her.
“Oh, now you again? Look, Trixie has no time to be dealing with… Whatever it is you are! So take your business elsewhere!” Somehow, the unicorn thought this dismissive gesture would succeed. It did not. Once again, the hissing broke into a growl, and the darkened creature broke into a lunge. This time, Trixie was not quick enough to dodge, though she was fortunate enough to have a protective nest above her.
Hit with a weakened slam, the unicorn staggered off to the side, falling against a thorny vine as the beast cried in what had to be pain. “Hah, that’ll show you to pick fights with the Great and Powerful Trixie! You best run on back home, before she makes this much harder on you!” She smugly stood, wincing a bit as another thorn pushed into her side. “Trixie will give you 5 seconds to make your leave! One… Two… Thr-“ Once more, she was cut off, this time rather brutally. Slamming its side into the shrunken pony, the creature launched Trixie out of the nest of bushes, and into the wooden trunk of a nearby tree.
This was a troubling blow to Trixie, easily draining her strength away as she staggered weakly amongst the tree roots. “Fine… Trixie can play this game too.” She stepped towards her foe, her hoof finding a small stick on the earth. As the reddened orbs closed in for the kill, Trixie did the most sensible thing and lifted the twig as a weapon, brandishing it as well as she could in the dark woods. She closed her eyes as the creature closed in, readying herself for her inevitable victory. Mere seconds later, a sickening squelch and a powerful force would batter Trixie’s diminutive form, stealing her consciousness away.

Chapter Two: The Team Gets 1000% Bigger
~In any heroic adventure, a sidekick is almost always a necessity, despite how incompetent they may seem. ~
The sun rose peacefully over what could seldom be called a peaceful forest. Once again, an average morning in the woods was beckoned by the rising sun. The tree branches swayed jocundly in the light breeze, and the bizarre wildlife began to stir.
In the somewhat deep depths of the woods a magical oddity finally arose from her perturbed slumber. Her bones ached, her mane was dirtied, and she had a few bruises adorning her otherwise ‘perfect’ form. “Ugh… The Great and Powerful Trixie should need not to sleep in such… Atrocious conditions.” This blue-tinted pony staggered up to her hooves in a groggy state, her vision still blurred as her mind slowly resumed complete functionality.
“What is she even doing outside in the first place? Trixie should be relaxing in a luxurious queen sized be- Oh, right.” The hexed mare saw gnarled roots stretching out far around her, the bark extending skywards over her head. Regrettably, she recalled the peculiar circumstances that had been so painstakingly bestowed upon her. A hazy sense of bitter anger welled within her adorably tiny and bedraggled form, a sense that was somewhat calmed as she spotted the dirt trail laid out before her. Sprinkled along the long brown pathway were droplets of crimson liquid, of which Trixie could easily deduce the source.
“Serves that foul creature right! Any beast with half a brain should know that engaging the Great and Powerful Trixie in combat could only lead to pain and humiliation!” She laughed heartily, reveling in her recent prowess, “And let it be a warning to all of you other disgusting creatures lying in wait within the woods, Trixie will never be made a fool of!” The boisterous mare swung around, her voice booming a few feet away from her remote location, “And as for that lowlife simpleton, Trixie will be getting her revenge soon enough, and how grand it will be!”
The bite sized magician held her head high as she trotted blindly away from her nestled location. If she had any inclination to watch where she was going, she may have noticed the bizarre fluttering creature in her direct path. Alas, that much could not be expected of her, as the brilliant showboat’s snout soon made contact with a fuzzy entity. This head-on collision was greeted with a soft coo, the pony finding herself staring at one of the most bizarre creatures she had ever encountered. With eyes bigger than Trixie’s head, a gaudy pink coloring, an unbelievably spherical shape, and insect-like wings, the curious sprite bounced around giddily.
“Just when Trixie thought this could not get any stranger. Look, Trixie cannot afford to waste her most precious time on such a downright laughable abomination.” She placed one of her front hooves on what appeared to be the front of the furry critter, “So move out of her way, now-“ Much to Trixie’s dissatisfaction, her command was interrupted by the assertion of the strange insect. With a quick flicking motion, the rounded creature snatched the little pony in its mouth, flung it onto its back, and whisked her away into the skies above.
It is understandable that Trixie was rather taken aback by this action. For one, the crazy monstrosity had no right to dirty her magnificent image with its touch. Secondly, Trixie was not an experienced flier, leaving her hard-pressed to keep her lunch down as the ground flew by her. Finally, she was a pony, which made her ability to maintain an adequate grip nearly non-existent.
“Tr-Trixie demands that this foolishness be ceased at one! She’ll not have some… Some idiotic bug get the best of her!” The unicorn pounded her hooves comically against the insect’s exterior, doing nothing to stop its gleeful and excited flight out of the forest. It must have been a small miracle that Trixie had not fallen off the top of the round creature as the trees started to disappear behind them, and Trixie was completely neglectful of this. She cared not for how lucky she had been up until that moment, and instead focused herself on teaching the despicable cretin a thing or two. Summoning all she had, the magician pulled off one of her more recognizable tricks, a trusty lightning bolt. With a glimmer from her horn, Trixie fired the powerful spell, scoring a direct hit with the speedy flier.
The shocking spell seemed to work, perhaps too well. The glorious flash left both the curved bug and the great magician singed and spiraling out of control. Trixie remained unfazed by this recent turn of events, still clinging as a smug smirk embellishing her charred face.
“And that’ll teach you! Make a mockery of Trixie, and you’ll find yourse-“ Once more, the mare was interrupted in her speech, this time by a rather hard thud against the ground. The impact was more than enough to fling Trixie off the back of the creature, tossing her against the grass with a small bounce. She rolled out of a daze, her gaze just quick enough to catch the small pink and black insect taking to the sky. “Hah, fleeing! That serves your kind right! If you can’t fly with the best, then fall with the rest!”
Filled with an inflated sense of confidence, the battered mare sprung herself up onto all fours, gleefully re-composing her shaken frame. The grass around her was rather tall, so much, in fact, that she was unable to determine her exact location. All Trixie could tell from her low vantage point was that she had exited the Everfree Forest, as signaled by the clear blue skies overhead. Beyond that, however, Trixie was completely lost, left to travel through flora that rivaled trees in height. Not that she was daunted by this, no, not in the slightest. The unicorn knew that with navigation skills such as her own, there’s no way she could remain lost!
As she continued to wander aimlessly, the pony stumbled across quite a few insects. These small life-forms should have served as another bitter reminder to Trixie’s baneful curse, yet instead she found herself grinning as she passed by ankle-high ants and caterpillars that reached up to her knees. The diminutive insects served as an ego boost, once more pushing Trixie’s confidence to insurmountable heights. Though, her iron ego would be dented, lightly, as a pair of giant blue eyes broke through the grass and stared at her tiny frame.
For entire seconds, nothing but silence was present within the brush, Trixie was left staring curiously at the eyes of a larger equine. After this brief intermission in Trixie’s travels, she continued ahead, prodding a fore-hoof at the other pony’s snout. This action was met with a loud squeak and a quick jump, the yellow pony jumping back away, landing with a soft thud. Trixie rolled her eyes at this act, the unicorn trotting over to the cowering pegasus. “Now, Trixie knows she is quite the glorious sight, and finding her visage in the wild may be cause for surprise, but this is far too ridiculous! Pull yourself together, Trixie must inquire with you.”
The shivering pony peeked downwards once more, bewildered by the sight of a downright puny pony approaching her. “B-but I-“
“No buts! Stand at once, Trixie demands it!”
The pegasus slowly scrambled up to her four hooves, casting a dark shadow down over Trixie. “Is this bett-“
“Yes! Now, do tell Trixie, just where is she? She has had an awfully rough time, and wants to finally get some answers!”
Every high-pitched squeak of Trixie’s voice seemed to cause the yellow pegasus to shudder back.
“We-we’re just outside Ponyville, I c-“
“Ponyville?!” Trixie scoffed. “Trixie knew she was heading in the wrong direction.” She muttered to herself, “Trixie swears, if she encounters that downright detestable unicorn, she will not be held responsible for what happens.”
The pink-maned pony leaned closer to Trixie, “E-excuse me? Would it be alright it-“
“Silence! You do not speak to Trixie unless Trixie speaks to you first! Is that understood?” The larger mare took a step backwards, drooping her head.
“O-okay… I’m sorry…”
Trixie smiled smugly, “As you should be.” She flicked her singed mane, “Now, Trixie would like to have her questions answered… But it has recently come to her attention that she is positively famished.” The unicorn smirked upwards, “You must live around here somewhere, Trixie demands that you lead her to your house at once!” The wizard squeaked in the most intimidating and assertive way possible.
“O-okay, if you say so…” The taller pony glanced back behind her, her cottage still easily in sight. She then again settled her gaze downwards, at Trixie. “D-do you want me to help you? I mean, you’re awfully sma-“
“Trixie does not require assistance from anypony, especially not one as cowardly as yourself!” The small mare walked closer to the other’s hooves. “She is also aware of the condescending insult you were about to attack her with, and she demands the most sincere apology for this travesty!”
The pegasus cowered away once again, “I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean t-“
“No excuses!” The shrunken mare interrupted with.
“I-I’m sorry…”
The unicorn grinned at the display put on by this giant pegasus, before trotting alongside one of her front legs. “Now, since Trixie is such the respectful pony, she will allow you to walk ahead of her. Do hurry it along though, she is awfully busy, and can’t waste her time on idle wandering.”
The yellow giant responded with only a simple nod, and began walking through the grass in an arduously slow manner. Trixie followed in her hoofsteps, with an overconfident grin on her face. The unicorn’s stride was filled with an abundant sense of self-satisfaction, content with having asserted herself over the pegasus. Knowing very well that the trip to this pegasus’ home could be lengthy at Trixie’s diminutive pace, she decided to take some time to question her lowly companion.
“Tell Trixie, have you seen any... Nefarious stallions about, attempting to pass as royalty?” Trixie didn’t bother to look up to the other mare as she continued her trot.
“W-well... I haven’t, but some poor ponies in town have. We’ve been doing our best to help them, but I don’t think-”
“Yes, yes, that’s enough.” The unicorn silently mused to herself. It should be no difficult task for her to squeeze some information out of one of these ponies, and revenge would only be a hop, skip, and a jump away! “Anyways, you do have accommodations fitting for a unicorn of Trixie’s status, right? She has had a rather unsavory encounter with a simpleton in the forest, and hopes that you will not be such a disappointment.”
“Oh, well I think you’ll love it there. I have the cutest little bunnies and birdies that will just love to see you!” The pegaus actually seemed rather excited to say this, which betrayed the quiet image she had established thus far. Trixie’s reaction did not share this level of excitement.
“You... Are joking, right?” Trixie sighed deeply, “And just when Trixie thought she was going to enjoy some comfort before she continued her journey.” She peered up to the pegasus, who had kept her eyes on her since they met. “Trixie supposes that she will humor you, though if you attempt to make a fool of her, then she will make sure you regret it!”
“O-oh, I’m sorry... But I’m sure you’ll just love it.” She lowered her head closer to Trixie as they continued to walk. “Y-you know... You kind of talk weird. N-not that there’s anything wrong with that... Just... Should I-Or should that be Fluttershy talk like that too? I-I mean, if you want me to...”
“Trixie does not care for how you would like to speak! Now, stop wasting her time with such petty questions.” The unicorn made a point of knocking Fluttershy down a peg or three.
“O-okay... Sorry.”
“As you should be.” These words were the last spoken during the walk to the pegasus’ cottage, as Trixie had obtained all the info she required, and Fluttershy did not possess the courage to say another word. The silence did not disturb Trixie, as she took the ten minute walk as a time to consider her next move. She mulled over her options, and as the cottage came into sight she came to a conclusion. She would have to spend more time with this pegasus, and have her lead the way to some of the other victims. Once that much was done, she would be able to dispose of her, and finally receive-
“Oh, I’ll get the door for you, just one second.” The yellow pony moved forward and pulled open her wooden door. “Here we go, now, you can just come inside and I’ll get you something.” Fluttershy loomed high over Trixie as she climbed up into the doorway, and ventured inside.
“Good, Trixie reminds you that she deserves the utmost best in hospitality, and you’d do well to remember it.” The unicorn’s air of confidence had yet to falter as she examined her spacious surroundings. To her satisfaction, the home seemed clean and liveable, unlike what could be said for the earlier rotten shanty that hardly passed for a dwelling.
The small pony gauged the cottage as Fluttershy quietly flew into her humble kitchen area. Trixie paid no mind to this, of course, she had no reason to waste her time observing the antics of any pony that wasn’t herself. Instead she wandered forth, hoping to find some way to cleanse her muddied form. Sadly, the unicorn would not find the respite she so desperately sought.
Trixie quickly found herself before a rather adorable furry critter. A brown chipmunk, about twice Trixie’s height, chittered excitedly at the sight of the little unicorn.
“Oh, how wonderful. Trixie suspects that you’d like to make a fool of her. She’ll let you know, that there will be no such thing!” Her words seemed to be wasted on the animal, as it attempted to seize her up as soon as she was done speaking. Trixie was prepared for this, she jumped backwards deftly, her horn starting to spark. Smirking with sanguineous confidence, she launched a bolt of purple lightning, originating at her horn tip. Flying in a glorious arc the searing energy hit with a profound impact, charring the chest fur of the woodland beast.
A loud squeak shook the ground as the chipmunk cowered backwards, terrified by this show of power. Trixie stood tall once more and walked towards her clambering foe. “Hmph, not a match at all.” Trixie took a quick glance to her side as she approached the beast and was greeted with the sight of dozens of other similar creatures. Rabbits, squirrels, and mice abound. Some of these creatures were watching the small fight curiously, while most others were continuing their simple business of innocent frolicking. This gave Trixie an idea.
Returning her gaze to the brown critter, the unicorn began to enact part one of her masterfully crafted plans. She bounded to the fallen chipmunk and, with a glorious leap, landed on its fuzzy back. Wasting not a second she sat herself down and sparked a set of kinetic reins about the creature’s neck. “And Trixie was told that her rope tricks were useless, what imbeciles!” She pulled the purple reins back, lifting the understandably confused chipmunk’s head skyward. With a quick flick, she turned towards the furry group on the other side of the room. “Now, Hannibal, Trixie commands you to charge!”
Thus Trixie’s conquest over the realm of Fluttershy’s cottage began. It was a shaky start, admittedly, her valiant steed was hesitant to obey her commands. At first it only skittering about in the general direction that Trixie desired. Naturally, the magician did not allow this to continue for long. A few more zaps and Hannibal had been tamed, reluctantly ready to follow her orders. Pointing a fore-hoof over his head, Trixie spurred him onward. Within seconds she had led her mount into the crowd of animals, signalling the commencement of the first battle.
Trixie’s horn lit up in a spectacular purple hue as she fired spells in every direction. Her combat prowess was limited to simple lightning bolts, and didn’t allow for much variety, though it was effective at getting the job done. Dozens of woodland creatures were zapped in her zigzagging fury. “Haha, bow before your new ruler, the Great and Powerful Trrrixie!”
The scene was chaotic. Birds swarmed over the battlefield as squirrels hid behind cover. Lightning bolts razed the field, mowing down all the other combatants without mercy. It wouldn’t be long until Trixie and her steed were left alone on the wargrounds with one white rabbit. Scuffing a paw along the ground, Hannibal stood at the ready, Trixie narrowed her eyes at her final rival. No words needed to be spoken, Trixie knew what needed to be done.
She kicked Hannibal, forcing him forward, smirking all the while. She readied the spell that was sure to vanquish her opposition. Trixie’s horn seemed to jet forward, elongating into a purple jagged spear of pure magical energy. The unicorn knew all too well that it was a risky move, but her love for style and showmanship would have it no other way. Her jousting steed bridged the gap as the white hare prepared to overpower Trixie. In a flash the battle was over, Hannibal had been knocked on his side, and Trixie was sprawled on the ground, though relatively unharmed. The rabbit, on the other hoof, had barrelled over, knocked back by Trixie’s spell. It seemed to be alive, yet unconscious, knocked onto its back a few hoofsteps from Trixie’s position on the floor.
“Haha,” the mare laughed boisterously. “Once again, victory belongs to Trix-”
“Oh, Trixie, I have something here for you-” A loud crash, the sound of glass hitting the floor, resonated in Trixie’s ears as she looked up from the warzone.

Chapter Three: A Plan In Mind
Some of the most gruelingly tense moments Trixie had ever experienced would follow. Fluttershy had been made witness to the aftermath of the battle. Unconscious animals scattered across the floor, that lone unicorn standing down at her hooves. The air was heavy with searing disapproval, nearly potent enough to metaphorically burn through steel. She felt, however, that she could easily handle the situation. This yellow pegasus towering above her was a pushover.
“Trixie realizes what this may look like, but she reassures you-“
“I can’t believe you did this! I invited you to my home, and you… You did this!” Her voice was shaky, yet strangely firm and accusatory.
“Well, yes, Trixie did what needed to be done!”
Fluttershy was taken aback by that statement. “Y-you…” The pegasus took a deep breath to calm herself, and then leaned her head close to the diminutive pony. She opened her eyes wide, a piercing stare being shot down like a deadly laser.
Trixie’s confidence vanished in a puft. The pegasus’ eyes seemed to morph before her, turning into large, inpony, monstrous gazing orbs. The world around her melted, the walls dripping down to reveal disturbing red-stained and glyph-ridden steel. The fallen animals around her fell from existence, sifting into puddles of red goop.
Trixie couldn’t possible muster a response, her legs quivering, impossible for her to stand; she fell backwards, petrified as the horrific creature above her looked to her with maliciously silent contempt. The pegasus could no longer be described as a sweet mare, not even classified as a pony. Her body had grown even larger, twisting into black tendrils and dark-stained fur. Those eyes continued to stare at the victim pony, bright as ever with their terrifying intimidation.
With every second that passed, Trixie’s desperation swelled. She knew this couldn’t be real. She knew that the pegasus’ oppressive gaze couldn’t have such effects, but she couldn’t deny the sense of dread in her gut. She felt as if she had gone mad, as if her mind had betrayed her and was replaced only with images of pure terror.
Shivers wracked Trixie’s frame as all seemed to turn to an apocalyptic rendition. Nothing good and sweet seemed to be left as Trixie was left under the fatal stare of her once bullied companion. Trixie finally faltered and fell to the ground, and right as she did, the homely cottage retook her senses.
“Hmph… I hope you’ve learned your lesson!” Fluttershy turned her attention away from Trixie, gently tip-hoofing around, catering to her animal friends. Trixie scampered away from the site, her beaten and bruised body aching for some rest after the expedition to the cottage, the battle, and the otherworldly experience.
She took to reclining against the wooden leg of Fluttershy’s couch. A mousehole chewed through the wood nearby would likely offer a more fitting area for her to catch her breath and gather her thoughts, though she would die before she dealt with the embarrassment of hiding within. The unicorn had no words to describe her bitter resentment and resounding sense of overpowerment that seeped into her after the detestable pegasus’ display. Trixie knew she was clearly in the right during her act of conquest, and to be treated so... Poorly, was a disgrace.
Though to directly confront Fluttershy now would be unwise. Trixie knew of hidden capabilities that lied beneath her timid demeanor, and had more tact than to wager her sanity a second time. No, instead she must be clever, and strike when the time is right. She walked away from her literal post, and gauged her environment. Fluttershy was still conducting her business of tending to the animals, ensuring that they had no serious injuries. The sight was still baffling to Trixie, to see such a colossal figure making such calculated and delicate motions. Of course, she would rather not spend time staring up at another pony’s hind end, and averted her gaze elsewhere.
The cottage still looked exactly the same, except for the carnage in a small corner. Trixie’s observations provided two immediate exits to the dwelling. The unicorn decided it was best to follow upon one of these, she thought it to be wise to place herself away from the pegasus as she plotted her downfall. The exits before her were the door, standing tall and shut, and the window behind the couch, creaked open to allow a cool breeze. Neither seemed like an easy portal to the outside world, but Trixie was no stranger to challenge.
After an internal debate, Trixie set out to scale the couch. She begun her ascent by scouring the floor around her. Small scratches, bits of discarded animal feed, and a pink rug that might as well be a shaggy pond were what laid in front of her. None of these seemed like a valuable asset to her climb, and she turned to search elsewhere. Placed within the wall to her side were a number of shelves, which seemed to hold a collection of fabrics. The exact nature of these fabrics was impossible to discern from the unicorn’s pitifully low vantage point.
Trixie trotted close to the shelves, the lowest one standing a few heads higher than she did. Wasting no time, she used her magic to tug at the nearest article of clothing. It didn’t give easily. It only inched along the wooden plane, not seeming to make any real progress into Trixie’s hooves. Trixie was considering a change of plans... Before, finally, a breakthrough was reached. The fabric teetered off the edge, tumbling in a giant jumble right onto the unlucky mare.
Fluttershy jumped at the small noise caused by the fall. It looked as if some of her dresses and accessories had been knocked down. Either from the wind, or one of her little critters coming out of hiding after that antagonistic unicorn stopped hurting them. She re-attended her veterinary duties, leaving house cleaning for later.
Stifling dark warmth enveloped Trixie after the cataclysmic event. She pushed her hooves around wildly, digging through the silken pile. Once again, she felt as if she was making little leeway. She cursed her fate, amongst various other things, as she swam through flower-scented layers. Trixie could not believe this was happening to her! She strengthened her resolve to exact revenge on the one who had put her in this state. It’s not that she felt it was impossible, or unthinkable, for her boundless glory to be worshipped in her new state, heavens no. She simply found it to be... A set-back. She continued to dig, and she dug until she found fresh air once more.
Trixie stood on the mess of dresses, a red ribbon still wrapped around her torso. Opportunity having presented itself the mare seized the long fabric and tumbled back down to the floorboards below. With haste, she approached the front of the couch. Pulling the ribbon to full height with a magical flourish, she fastened it down to the seat of the couch. Finally making it upwards, she climbed, a feat that was awkward with such simple appendages. She used her broad teeth to do much of the work, slowly yet surely pulling herself upwards as she continuously bit into the fabric. After a fair bit of exertion, she reached the flat end of the furniture.
The plush cushion beneath her was inviting, to say the least, and she briefly considered laying down for a spell. However, she was not so feeble-minded as that. The unicorn lugged the ribbon up alongside her, an idea rushing into her head. She had felt so naked since becoming the size of a rodent, her robes and hat no longer situated to both warm her body and convey a sense of graciousness. She wrapped the ribbon around her body, a small yellow button served as her brooch. It was surely no gem-stone, and the ribbon wasn’t elegantly designed with hours of toil, but it would suffice. Having secured a new cloak Trixie turned to a large pillow beside her, and the dinky mare continued her journey to freedom.
She soon found that vertically traversing the pillow wasn’t as easy as she previously presumed. It was very squishy, and gave underneath her every step. She felt like she was trying to climb up quicksand. It was laid at a steep incline, enough to make a difficult climb even if it had been made of dirt instead. Trixie fell flat on her face multiple times scaling the hill, thankful that it wasn’t in the least bit painful, but frustrated beyond belief at her how difficult everything had become.
After many stress-inducing slip-ups, Trixie managed to overcome her deceptively fierce rival and reach the top before too long a time had passed. She smiled triumphantly, though there was little time for celebration. She still had a target to take down. Having caught her breath, she made one more leap placing herself up on the back of the couch.
“Mmf... Not a challenge at all!” She continued to smirk smugly as she looked out the open window, preparing herself for one final leap. This was it, she could finally have a moment of peace to plot and scheme, all she needed to do was reach the bewildering world outside. She had so many questions left unanswered, and she wouldn’t ever get back to normal in the ‘care’ of some bipolar pegasus. Trixie wasn’t foolish enough to leave a possible base of operations, however. All she needed was time to put a plan together. Her superior mind would see Fluttershy under her command in no time! With as much majestic grace as her tiny body could hold, she soared through the cottage air, right towards the windowsill, and then right over it. She had miscalculated her jumping capabilities.
Air whizzed by as Trixie was flung outside. She flailed helplessly, the ground that was only a few feet below closing quickly. Before she had time to regret her decision to exit the cottage her mouth was filled with soil. The impact was soft, likely due to Trixie’s pony consistency. Serious injury never seemed to be a burden to her, she could always shrug it off without a care! She rolled over onto her back, spitting and coughing, her vision of the sky hindered by a handful of grass blades.
Trixie lied still for a spell, mulling over her predicament once more. She thought that if she could clean up, finally, find something to fill her belly, and recollect the element of surprise, she would rightfully have the upper-hoof. It was infallible, nothing could stop her victory, not even that spider that was about to walk right on top of her!
“SPIDERSPIDER getitoffgetitoff!” She squirmed feverishly, rolling about across the ground in a frenzy. The spider seemed to just observe her as she did so. “Ewwww gross gross, Trixie will not have a spider crawling all over her!” She jumped to her hooves, still shaking energetically.
“... Is it gone?” She breathed quickly, slowly turning around, coming face to face with eight beady eyes. “OH KILL IT KILL IT.” She kicked her forehooves forward, knocking the arachnid backwards. Trixie took this time to run as fast as any pony possibly could. She sprinted through grass, hurdled over twigs, and ducked under bits of paper and trash. She didn’t stop until her legs ached, the startled mare falling into a veiny leaf.
The leaf was cupped, with a copious amount of condensation held within. Trixie was able to see her reflection inside, the frizzle-maned view serving to calm her senses. Nothing in the world helped alleviate Trixie’s hardships more than being able to see Trixie. The unicorn dipped her hooves into the water, splashing her face, to both refresh and wash herself down. She used her magic to dump the rest of it along her, shivering slightly as the lukewarm liquid dripped down her. She then shook to dry herself, feeling remotely clean once again.
“Ahh... Much better.” Trixie looked back down to the leaf again, a thought formulating inside her cranium. She had already made a new robe, even if even if it was soaked now. Why not create a hat to complete her look? Sure, she thought, she’d look like an absolutely ridiculous winter critter with that color combination, but it was better than travelling without that which made her so fabulous to observe in the first place. She levitated the leaf upwards, a grin across her lips as the foliage twisted and folded, becoming a very suitable looking cap in no time. She draped it over her mane, a re-kindled sense of importance within her as she set out once more.
The second item on her list of priorities was rather easy to locate, in comparison to the hectic conflict she had escaped from prior. Though it was dull, Trixie had learned to be more wary in the undergrowth. If she heard the noise of any would-be arachnid predators, she steered clear. Only on one occasion did she use her magic to raze the ground around her. She heard two sources of noise, and went with the most logical solution of slashing and burning everything at once.
After a stealthy trek through the grass, she came upon some discarded berries fallen from an entanglement of bushes. It didn’t look to hold any unwelcome surprises, so Trixie took it upon herself to dig in. Her teeth dug a little hole into the plump blue skin of the berry, the mare given easy access to the juices within. It was pungent and delicious, so much so that Trixie may have become a little ravenous. Dark blue, almost ink-like fluids stained her snout before she finished, further compounding upon her silly appearance.
Once her raging hunger had been quelled, she set her sights upward, gazing to the looming tree-house. She could do this, it would be laughably simple! Her gait now carefree she wandered through the yard once more. Trixie had only been a hop, skip, and a jump away from the front door. This meaning, of course, that she had a fair bit of walking ahead of her. She was truly ready, she felt, to challenge Fluttershy. Revenge was at hoof, and while it might not be as satisfying as the revenge lust that set her upon this quest to begin with, it would surely be worth it!
As she stepped onto the sloped path leading to the cabin, her horn began to glimmer. Blowing down the door seemed to be the only method of entry now, the window likely beyond her reach. Scuffing her hooves against the gravel, she charged forward, a small flame erupting ahead of her. She closed her eyes, hitting full speed, relying completely on her magic to grant entry. She heard a loud burst, and her hooves touched wooden floorboards once more.
She looked back, expecting to see a hole where the door once stood. She did see a hole, though it was little more than a corner cut-out, let alone the destruction she had desired. She snorted air through her nostrils, a little disappointed disappointed at the lackluster results. She trotted back to the door. Maybe if she went about it a different way, she could achieve the desired result. Perhaps she could target the hinges... That surely would do something noisy!
Oh... Trixie is trying to avoid noisy. She recalled her objective just in time to spin around and be captured by Fluttershy.
“Oh you made me so worried. I thought you had been hurt, I’m so sorry for scaring you, here I’ll keep you safe until we go see my friends.” Fluttershy gently placed Trixie into her saddle-bag. As the darkness of the pouch consumed her, Trixie performed what could be best described as pouting. This pegasus had disrespected and humiliated her, and she had the audacity to NOT be upset with Trixie’s explosive entrance. The nerve!
Trixie kicked at a few papers and bits that laid beneath her, grumbling. “Trixie demands to be put down, you do not have the right to touch her!”
“I’m really sorry, but I let you go outside all alone! I just can’t let you be out there, it must be so scary! I won’t let you out of my sight again.” Truly, all shreds of anger had disappeared from Fluttershy’s voice. She was surely enigmatic.
The ‘ground’ shook and swayed as Trixie attempted to make herself comfortable. She had no real choice but to sit and shut up. She was likely high into the sky now thanks to the pegasus, and a fall from this height made her magic jumps from the towers of Canterlot seem childish. Trixie wanted to take the time to inspect the papers she lied upon, to see if there had been any information vital to her quest to withheld from her, though her confines were poorly lit. Oh well, at least it smelled nice. Trixie dug into the sheets, eventually finding the hempen ‘floor’ of the bag. Here she yawned and twiddled her hooves, waiting until she was brought before Fluttershy’s friends. Hopefully they weren’t as useless.
As Trixie was gingerly fished out of the bag, and placed onto a table, she immediately wished to see a pony that was useless, instead of what she saw.
“YOU!” Two female voices spoke out in dissatisfied unison. Although, one was much louder than the other.
“I thought we ran you out of town when we found out you were a fraud!” The purple unicorn looked down to Trixie, more shocked that she was present than at her current shrunken demeanor. “What are you doing here?”
“Trixie could very well ask you the same thing! She thought you were done playing hero once you recognized her splendor! Tch, ignorant as ever.” She turned to her companion. “You there, Trixie demands that you take her elsewhere, this is a waste of her time.”
“Waste of your time? We have a situation on our hooves here, if you haven’t noticed, if anything you’re the one wasting OUR time! We have dozens of ponies here in Ponyville, ones like you, that have been jerked around. We are trying to deal with it, so just sit there. Fluttershy, make sure she doesn’t move, I think I’m close to cracking a solution.” Fluttershy nodded, her diligent eye trained onto the blue mare.
“Oh no, this is Trixie’s show! She won’t let YOU upstage her once again!” Her horn sparkled, arcs of lightning spewing forward. The energy seared the book in the larger unicorn’s grip, engulfing it in a sea of flame. She threw it down, and stomped on it, though it was futile. It was naught but ash in only seconds!
“I... Can’t believe you just did that! We were so close to finding a way to stop him, and you just ruined EVERYTHING.” The unicorn was dyed red in fury. “I was going to give you a second chance, but this tears it!” She stomped forward, Trixie hovered up by her magic, staring to her. Thankfully, her stare was much less potent than Fluttershy’s.
“Twi-twilight... I don’t think she meant it, I really think she wants to help...”
“Trixie can handle her own battles!” The floating unicorn butted in. Fluttershy squeaked and drooped her head.
“You want to help?” Twilight sighed, her breath flowing over Trixie. “Fine, maybe we can still make this work. But I need you to stay quiet and listen.” Trixie was inclined to speak up immediately, but she was growing tired of her size, and wasn’t going to deny herself any leads. “There’s a pony out there who has been making a real mess of the place. We don’t know much about him... I had just found what I thought was an excerpt on him, but obviously we can’t use that now.”
Trixie did not look the least bit sorry for what she had done. “He’s been placing hexes on everyone he can find. He doesn’t seem to be targeting anyone specifically, but he’s been avoiding... Well, me, and my friends. It must be something about the Elements of Harmony.” Just hearing those words angered Trixie. First this Twilight character flaunts around her magic, thinking she’s the best thing since canned Trixie, a food-line that Trixie was very proud of, but now she’s bragging about being in possession of an Element of flippin’ Harmony!
“Oh, you’re sooo special. Hmph. What else does Trixie need to know?”
Twilight gazed to Trixie, not amused by her attitude in the slightest. She began pacing around the room full of books. “I was getting there. From accounts by the other... Affected, he seems to be... Well, I’m not sure what he’s doing! He’s been giving everyone arbitrary goals to fulfill, though obviously when you’re turned into a balloon or... Well, tiny, it’s not exactly easy to fulfill.”
“Goals? Trixie was not told of this!” If only she had been informed of this, she could have completed this ‘goal’ in no time, surely reclaiming her size!
“Well, you probably didn’t give him the chance to tell you... And what’s to say you should even follow what he says? He’s the one that did this to you!”
“Twilight, Twilight! I got a letter!” Rushing down the stairs behind the trio came that baby dragon Trixie vaguely remembered. Great, she thought, it couldn’t possibly get worse. “It’s not from Princess Celestia... It’s weird.” He slid up to Twilight’s side, too enthralled by the stationery to even regard Trixie. He did wave to Fluttershy, however.
“You’re right, that is weird.” She took the letter in her magic, unraveling it before her. She scanned the writing, “It’s from him... It’s gotta be.” After Twilight had read it completely, she shook her head to Fluttershy. “No signature. So we’re no closer.”
“Well, what did it say?” Trixie demanded an explanation.
“He wanted me to tell you something... He wants you to vanquish the Ursa Major.”
