//-------------------------------------------------------// Understanding Lost -by Saberking2012- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Understanding //-------------------------------------------------------// Understanding It had been a long day when we went to the funeral of our parents. We just got home and Apple Bloom hadn't said anything for awhile. She went to her room. I went upstairs and went to talk to her. I knocked on the door but there was no reply. After waiting a few seconds, I entered. She was laying on the bed facing away from me. Apple Bloom..." I said quietly. She didn't reply. Maybe if I act tough, she will be able to forget the sadness. "Listen, I know it's tough but you got to learn to let go." I said, coldly. She looked right at me and I could tell there was anger in her eyes. "How could you say that? Our parents are dead and you want me to just forget about them?!" She yelled, angrily. "Because, everypony dies at some point in their life. You got to learn to let go and be tough." I said, still acting tough. She got up but didn't move her eyes one bit. "How could you just say that?!" She asked angrily. "It's not that..." I said, trying to find the right words. I knew she was to young to understand. She kept staring at me with hatred in her eyes. "Look, your just got to realize nopony lives forever. Even I will die someday. You just to be tough and-" "Your so mean, Big Sis. I hate you!" She said, running out the room. "Apple Bloom!" I yelled as she ran off. I gave chase and ran out the front door but she was nowhere to be seen. I kept looking through the woods for any signs of her. I felt sick at the moment…not ill through germs or anything but because of what happened… and what I had said to her…to Apple Bloom. The moment the words had left my lips out of anger and saw that look on her face, I felt my stomach twist painfully. I only saw her face filled with pain for a moment before she ran out of the house. Had it been anyone else to put that look on her face, it wouldn't have bothered me so much. But no… it had been her…my own little sis. I gritted my teeth…I was the one who put the pain in her eyes, I was the one who caused those tears that had started streaming down her face, I was the one who had caused her to run away from the one pony who should have been comforting her…and instead was the very pony who had caused the pain. After looking all over the forest for her, I went into the barn. This was the last place I had to look. "Apple Bloom! Apple Bloom where are you!?" I yelled again, wishing she would answer. All I heard was the echo of my own voice in the barn.  After waiting a few seconds, I hit my hoof on the wall in anger. The echo of a hoof hitting wood was heard around the barn of the pony who had created the noise. I felt the wood bite into my flesh as if it had drawn blood but I didn't care. All that was on my mind right now was a wide eyed filly with tears pouring down her cheeks, whose smile had been wiped away…and all I wanted to do was to put it back.As I began to try and calm myself down, a loud bolt of lighting lit up the sky before thunder roared around me. Rain was going to start falling soon and one thought crossed my mind… She was scared of thunder… Whereever she was…I wasn't going to go anywhere now… she would be too frightened to move anywhere. Whenever there was a storm, she would crawl into my bed and cuddle close…looking for security and comfort from an invisible threat knowing that she was safe with me being next to her. I glared as the clouds in the sky as they began to darken signaling a big storm due to the high humidity as of recently. I was going to find her, apologize, and try to repair what damage I had caused by losing my temper. After looking around the barn once more, I went back into the forest and saw two paths in front of me. Not knowing where it would take me, I went right hoping this was the way she had gone. I had told her a million times not to go into the woods by herself but…it was my fault for pushing her away to begin with. I was upset and hadn't been thinking about what my actions would cause. Thinking of that, I only wanted her to be tough and not be sad but, I was foolish to think it would be easy for her. What I had said hurt her badly and family should never hurt family... A flash cut through the sky before a loud clap of thunder made me jump and hide behind some bushes. I started to hear sounds in the bushes and then appeared was a shadowy figure. It was hard to make out but it seemed like... a Timberwolf. I knew I had to find her quick or else... No, I can't think about that now. I wished we were back home. I wished she was at home with me next to her, when there was a storm, I always made her feel better. If it was in the middle of the night and she came running into my room I wouldn't complain at all. I would just pull her into a hug and tell her everything would be okay. If it was during the day that a storm happened, I would make hot chocolate and we would cuddle up on the worn old couch and watch the storm from the window. I started peeking out from the bushes to look around. I didn't see anything or anypony around so I came out of the bushes and wondered if she was at least in a safe spot. As it began to downpour, I hoped she wouldn't end up getting all wet and muddy next… I didn't want her to suffer anymore then she already was. I had to continue on  before the worst would happen. I had already lost my parents, I didn't want to lose my sister too. As I continued to move, It was getting harder to see and I could barely see anything past the sheets of rain all around me. I hoped she wasn't out in this…that she hadn't gone under one of the trees for shelter…under a tree was the worst place to be in a lightning storm. I got stuck in some mud. I struggled to get out but it proved to be easier said then done since the rain was making it even bigger and more difficult to get out. After about a few minutes, I finally broke free but as I did, I heard some noise nearby. "Apple Bloom?" I called out. There was no answer. I walked closer until I was able to make out a small cave. Wondering if maybe she had taken shelter in there, I ran over being careful not to get my hoof stuck in anymore mud. But as soon as I got close to the mouth of the cave, I heard a familiar sound…the sound of somepony crying. "Apple Bloom, is that you?" I asked. "Applejack?" The voice asked. After it said that, I knew it was her. her face peeked out from behind the shadows. A loud clap of thunder roared over head and a scared yell made its way to my ears. In an instant, She had run over into my arms; I held her close, stroking her head and whispering words of comfort to calm her down. I sighed in relief seeing for myself that she was okay. It washed over me like a waterfall leaving me in a haze. Sighing, I rested my head on her messy red mane and held her closer. "Thank Celestia your okay…" I whispered. "You were worried?" She asked. "Of course I was worried…I was worried sick." I said moving away from the mouth of the cave. I didn't let go of her. Might as well get comfortable…with the rain pouring the way it is, we wouldn't be heading home anytime soon. "Applejack…why did you say that to me?" She asked not looking up at me. I felt that familiar pang of guilt and held her close. "I was angry…I lost my temper and I didn't mean any of it…" I said running a hoof through her soft red mane. "I'm sorry…I would never say anything like what I said back at the house and mean it. I was only trying to toughen you up but it seems it only pushed you away. " I felt her wrap her hooves around me and snuggle close. I looked down at her; around her eyes were puffy and red from crying, her cheeks were damp from tears…and yet, she had a small content smile on her face. "Its okay." I raised an eyebrow. "It's…okay?" I asked, confused. "Yeah…you said you were sorry. I should have listened to you in the first place." She said as if it was the most natural thing in the world. "How can you let me take all that back? I said something really horrible." I said, baffled. She looked up at me with those wide eyes of her before smiling and answering. "Because…you're my sister. And nopony can take that away."
