**SPOILER ALERT** Everfree Feelings
It was a beautiful night. The moon glowed bright and beautiful in the glittering sky. The faint thumping of music drifted through the warm air. Sunset Shimmer sighed as she leaned against the rock outside of the cave where Twilight Sparkle was dancing with Timber Spruce. She took a sip of her fruit punch, and snuck another glance at the two of them. Twilight looked so beautiful, so elegant in her stunning dress, her hair loosely in a side bun. Sunset felt warmth creep through her, but it was quickly replaced with cold jealousy as Timber Spruce gently took Twilight’s hand and kissed it. Sunset looked away quickly, her emotions swirling through her. Calm down, Sunset, She told herself. She’s still your friend, and always will be. She doesn’t feel the same way. Get over it.
Sunset Shimmer snapped out of her thoughts when Twilight leaned against the rock next to her. Sunset, not wanting to reveal her feelings, put on a smirk and raised her eyebrows smugly. Twilight blushed and playfully punched her arm. Gosh, I love it when she does that… thought Sunset, not being able to fight back the pink rising in her cheeks. Luckily, Twilight wasn’t looking. She took a sip from her fruit punch nervously. “There is one thing I’m still wondering about though.” said Sunset Shimmer, breaking the silence. “What’s that?” asked Twilight, looking at her with those sparkling violet eyes. “Where did the magic that hit this cave come from?” Sunset looked up at the sky, Twilight following her gaze. “I’m sure we’ll figure it out. I just want to enjoy the rest of tonight.” sighed Twilight, glancing back into the cave where Timber had been seconds before. Sunset smiled, still feeling a twinge of jealousy, but admired how adorable smitten Twilight could be, “Hey, do you want to go on a late night nature walk?” Twilight looked around hesitantly, and Sunset added, “I’m sure we’ll be fine. We have our magic now, and we know there’s no Gaia Everfree... Well, not anymore I guess. We’ll just be taking the scenic route back to the party.” Twilight smiled and nodded, “That sounds nice.” Sunset smiled back, and the two of them walked into the dark moonlit woods.
Sunset fought back the urge to hold Twilight’s hand, and instead clasped her own hands together behind her back. Twilight sighed deeply as she admired the forest. The moonlight glinted off her glasses, and lit up her eyes. Sunset was completely mesmerized. A wave of sadness washed over her when she remembered she was alone with her feelings, and that no matter how hard she wished, Twilight would never love her back. I just wish I could tell my friends, but I’m afraid they won’t like me if they know I love Twilight… If I lost my friends, I don’t even know what I would do… I can’t let that happen. Sunset sighed, and the two friends continued on their walk.
After about 5 more minutes of walking, Twilight whispered, “What was that?” They stopped, and Sunset pricked her ears. She couldn’t hear anything. “There! Do you hear that?” Now Sunset heard it. The faint sound of murmuring and… was that giggling? “I hear it, but where is it coming from?” Twilight shook her head softly, and slowly began walking towards the source of the sound. Sunset followed her, continuously scanning the forest for anything that could be making the noise. After a few minutes, the sounds got louder, and Sunset heard Twilight gasp. She quickly ran beside her friend, and what she saw took her breath away as well. Standing underneath a tree, was none other than Timber Spruce. He was talking to Pixel Pizazz, and after she let out a soft giggle, he planted a passionate kiss on her lips. Twilight choked out a sob, and Timber turned around, an annoyed expression on his face. Sunset stood beside Twilight, and pointed an accusing finger at Timber, “Hey! Just what do you think you’re doing?!” Timber turned to Pixel Pizazz, “Sorry, you’ll have to excuse me for a moment.” He walked up to Sunset and Twilight, a bored expression on his face. Twilight spoke, her voice filled with emotion, “Timber, why…? I thought… I-I mean… you said…” He let out a small laugh, “Who says campers are the only ones allowed to have fun? They come and go. Did you really think you were something special?” Twilight opened her mouth to reply, but nothing came out. She lowered her head, tears falling from her eyes. Sunset’s heart broke. No matter how jealous she felt over Twilight’s love for Timber, she just couldn’t bear to see her best friend like that. She walked right up to Timber and got so close to him that their noses were touching, “Don’t you DARE say that to my best friend!” raged Sunset. Anger flooded through her, and she jabbed a finger into his chest, “Twilight IS special, and you played her! You’re nothing but a jerk!” Timber smirked and shook his head, “You don’t seem to understand how boring it can be, being stuck here. Girls come here and fall in love with me, and I when get what I want from one, I just move on to the next. It’s a system that I’ve mastered. Most of the time, the girls don’t even know what I’m doing behind their backs, because they’re just so in love with me. Pathetic, really.” Sunset opened her mouth to speak, but Twilight spoke up in a shaky voice, “Timber… it’s over. I… I just-“ Timber cut her off, coldness in his voice, “It was over from the moment it started. Don’t try to guilt me, Twilight. You’re dead to me.” At this, Twilight began to sob, and turned and fled into the forest. With one more piercing glare at Timber, Sunset took off after her heartbroken friend.
“Twilight, where are you?!” called Sunset, a bit worried that she had lost her in the darkness of the forest. She stopped in her tracks. A faint sob could be heard around a thick-trunked tree. Sunset Shimmer peeked around it, and saw Twilight crying, her knees tucked in closely to her chest. Sunset felt her own eyes well up with tears. She hated seeing Twilight like this. She gently reached out and put her hand on Twilight’s shoulder, “Twilight? Are you okay?” Twilight looked up at her with tear-filled eyes, and whispered, “Oh, Sunset…” Sunset swallowed the lump in her throat and sat down next to her friend. Twilight reached over and hugged Sunset tightly, her face buried into her shoulder. Sunset tensed up. What do I do? She’s hugging me. Do I hug her back? She took a deep breath and returned the hug. The two girls just sat and hugged each other for a moment, before Sunset pulled away, and pushed Twilight’s hair behind her ear, “Twilight, I know it’s hard… but you have to know that what he said wasn’t true at all. You are special. …And no matter what…” she paused, thinking about whether or not to say what was next. “…I’ll always love you.” At this, Twilight looked up at her, “W-what did you say?” Sunset blushed and stuttered, trying to cover what she now regretted saying, “I- um, I just said… That I…” she sighed, Might as well just say it now…
“I have something to confess, Twilight…” Twilight pushed her glasses up, and leaned in, “You know you can tell me anything.” Sunset nodded, “I know I can…” she whispered. Twilight smiled reassuringly and reached out and touched Sunset’s hand. Sunset took a deep breath, “Twilight… please don’t hate me… but I… I have a kinda… sorta… crush on you…” she blushed so deeply, she thought Twilight might be able to feel the heat radiating off of her face. Twilight look at her, her eyes wide, and her mouth slightly open in shock. Sunset frowned and looked away, “I’m sorry, I know it’s weird, but-“ she was cut off by Twilight wrapping her in another hug, “Sunset! I can’t believe this! I… I have a crush on you too!” Sunset couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “Y-you do?! But… Timber…” Twilight pulled away and blushed, looking down and twirling her hair with her finger, “I know… but the truth is, I was trying to take my mind off of liking you… in case you didn’t feel the same way, and decided finding a boyfriend would maybe help me with my… attraction.” Sunset grinned, “I… I just can’t believe this… You like me?!” Twilight smiled and caressed Sunset’s face, “No… I love you.” Sunset blushed again, and she pulled Twilight in for another tight embrace. When they pulled away, Sunset winked at Twilight, and kissed her under the beautiful moonlit forest canopy. Everything’s going to be just fine. She thought happily.
