The little ponies run outside for lunch. Some ponies eat or play happily with their friends. But as for Frost Bolt, his story is different... Frost hit the ground hard, rolling a few feet before coming to a stop. He stumbled to his hooves with tears filling in his eyes. He glared at the three bullies; Buzz, Zoom, and Arid with hate in his eyes. He kept silent and stood at the gates, cornered by them. They began to get closer and laugh. Buzz grabbed his saddle bags and threw it's contents in the dirt. Zoom shoved Frost against the gate. He closed his eyes and just let it happen. "C'mon, shrimp! Fight back!" Zoom laughed pushing Frost again. "Whatever, guys. The Baby, here, has a mess to clean up." Said Arid, trotting away. The other two followed close and laughed as they trotted towards the playground. Frost looked at his books and scattered papers that were thrown out in the dirt. He picked them up and slid them back into his bags. Frost threw the bags on his back and hung his head low and began to trot to the tree to eat his lunch alone. He sat down under the tree and looked at himself in a puddle of water mex to him. His eyes held dark rings under them. His lips seemed to be sealed shut, because they rarily move to speak. His black and cyan mane covered one of his eyes. He sighed and closed his eyes and leaned his head back on the tree. He heard the bullies laughing and he looked over to see the group messing with the new pony. Frost watched from a distance as they hit the muffin out of her hands. She looked down at the pastry and watched as the bullies trot by and kick dirt on the muffin. Frost felt his heart crumble, even more than it was already. He waited for the bullies to leave her and he began to make his approach. The gray mare gazed at the brown muffin as it laid in the mud with tears in her eyes. Frost move closer to her and sat down on the bench next to her. He reached into his lunch bags and pulled out a cookie. She glanced at the cookie and then back to Frost. He held an innocent smile on his face as he held out his lunch's treat. She smiled and brushed the tears from her eyes. "Thank you," She said gently taking the cookie from his hoof. "Nopony has really been generous to me." "You're welcome. They mess with me too..." He said looking down to the dirt. "I'm Ditzy Doo." She said holding out a hoof. "My name's Frost Bolt." He said, smiling and taking her hoof. They sat together and enjoyed each other's company. Frost never really talked to anypony, because he is afraid if he messes up, no pony will like him. But with Ditzy, he felt calm and free to speak his mind. They would laugh at their jokes and told each other stories. The bell rang again, and the ponies began making their way back into the schoolhouse. Frost and Ditzy trotting back into their class and sat down next to each other. Mrs. Cheerilee handed everyone a piece of paper and some colored pencils. Frost's mind wondered as he drew. He thought back on how comfortable and safe he felt around Ditzy at lunch. Frost looked over to Ditzy, who was calling his name. She held up her paper and showed a tube of bubbles and small spheres around the paper. Frost held up his paper and Ditzy began to giggle. Frost raised an eyebrow and looked at the paper. He hadn't realized that he drew Ditzy sitting with him on the bench. He set the paper down on his desk and began to blush. "I think it looks pretty good." Ditzy said looking over his hooves to see the drawing again. "Your drawing is really good." Frost said leaning over to see her paper. Later the bell rang and everypony turned in their drawings. Frost packed his books in his bags and threw the bags on his back. He trotted out the door and saw Ditzy in the hall. "I'll see you tomorrow, Ditzy!" Frost said as he trotted by her. "See ya!" She said waving to Frost. Frost smiled and began his walk to his home. He felt his heart was warmer than ever. As he thought back on that mare, his cheeks felt warm and light headed. A smile stayed on his face all the way home. The house came into view and he trotted to the door and opened it. "I'm home! Anypony here?" He said with a large smile on his face. "I'm in the living room, and your father is still at work!" Called his mother from across the house. He trotted by her with a grin on his face. "Well! Hello, Mr. Happy! Did you make a new friend or something?" Diamond asked following him up the stairs. "Yeah.. I guess I did." He said with a smile glued on his face. "Oh! So, what's his name?" She asked walking to the door to his room. "Her name is Ditzy." He said to his mom. "Ooooh... Is she cute? Is she going to be your mare-friend?" She teased. "Aww, c'mon mom!" He said shutting his door. He heard his mother laughing as she went back downstairs. He looked at himself in his mirror. He saw that the dark rings around his eyes had began to fade to his normal light-blue color. He smiled and thought back on his time with her. He was excited to know Ditzy, and loved being friends with her. >Author's Notes: Well, I never thought I'd do it, but I started it, now I'm gonna finish it! Sorry if the story name is a little lame. There will be age progression and relationship development throughout the story. Please tell me how I did. All feedback is much appreciated! Chapter 2: Taking the FallChapter 2: Taking the Fall Frost left his house feeling excited to see Ditzy again. He saw the schoolhouse coming into view he began to smile. Entering the classroom, he saw the three bullies sitting in the corner of the room. They were laughing and glaring right at Frost. He turned his head away and saw Ditzy waving to him. He felt his heart warm again. A smile grew and he waved back. As he trotted to his seat next to her, she greeted him. "Hey, buddy! How's it going?" She asked smiling at Frost. "I'm doing alright." He responded. They talked together for a while and Miss Cheerilee greeted her class and began her lesson. Frost listened as she began to talk about Heart's and Hooves Day. The thought of having a love brought a weird feeling in his stomach. He didn't like the thought of having to go through the trouble of love. But he just shrugged off the feeling in his stomach and continued to listen. After a while of the lesson, the lunch bell rang. Frost grabbed his lunch bag and followed Ditzy outside. "Hey, want to sit in the shade, or the bench again?" Frost asked her. "Shade would be great!" she said, holding her bag with her mouth. They went to the corner of the playground where a large tree kept them away from the sun. Frost would only come there to hide from the bullies, and he had hoped that they wouldn't find them there. Ditzy stuck her hoof in her bag and pulled out a small muffin. She looked at it and licked her lips. She took a bite and her wings fluttered as she giggled. "That's really cute." Frost thought to himself. Than his eyes shot open at what he just thought. "What! I just said THAT?" No way..." He began to scramble in his thoughts. The feeling returned to his stomach. Frost looked at the apple in his hoof and stuck it back into his bag. And leaned back against the tree, letting out a sigh. "What's the matter?" Ditzy asked, with a mouthful of muffin. "I'm not hungry." Frost explained and put his hoof to his stomach. "Aww, that stinks," She said putting her hoof in her bag again. "Because I brought you something." Frost looked at what was in her hoof. She was holding out a tiny muffin, small enough to be bite size. Frost looked back up to Ditzy, she was smiling at him and staring into his eyes. The feeling in his stomach went away as he grabbed the small muffin. "Thanks." Frost said with a smile on his face. He popped the muffin in his mouth and began to chew it. The flavor of berries filled his mouth and he swallowed it down. "Ditzy, that was great tasting! Where did you get them?" Frost said leaning in towards Ditzy. "I made them." She said with a smile. "Wow! You're a really good baker!" He said to her. "Thank you, I have more at my house. Maybe your mom can let you come over to play? I live a few housed down from Sugar Cube Corner." She said smiling back at him. "I'll ask my mom today and then come to your house." He said, feeling strange again. "Yay! We'll have a lot of fun!" Ditzy said letting her wings flutter again. A few hours passed and school was finished for the day. Ditzy and Frost trotted outside. Before they passed the playground, the three bullies jumped out from hiding. Ditzy jumped and Frost's heart sank. "Well, well, well..." Arid said circling the two. "Looks like we got a pair of love-birds!" He laughed. "Ha! Yeah, love birds!" Buzz said from behind Arid. "Don't you know that there is a price to pay us when you pass through our playground after school?" Arid said confronting them. "I see that neither of you have any bits, but that can be replaced." He said with an evil smile. Arid dug his dirt in the ground and leaned forward, pointing right at Ditzy. From the corner of his eye, Frost saw Ditzy crawl into a small ball and began to tremble. A shadow covered her as Frost stood in between Arid and Ditzy. "You can take me, but Ditzy leaves unharmed." Frost demanded. "Aww, lover boy wants to protect the retard!" Zoom laughed. "Frost what are you doing?" Ditzy whispered from the below Frost. "It's okay." He whispered back. A smile grew on his face, assuring everything will be fine. "Okay. She can go, but you get it double, since your taking her place." Arid said leaving a clearing for Ditzy to escape. "Go." Frost said to her still smiling at her. Ditzy let out a small whimper and she picked her bags up. She began to make a fast retreat to the gates. She stopped at the open gate and turned around. She saw Frost being circled by the bullies. She noticed his head was down and his mane covered both of his eyes. She could still see the smile on his face. A tear hit the dirt below Ditzy as she went to go get Miss Cheerilee. Another hoof his his head and Frost hit the floor. All three of the bullies hit him at least once. They began to get closer to him. Suddenly they stopped as the door to the schoolhouse swung open. "You three! Get inside RIGHT NOW!" Miss Cheerliee yelled to them. The three bullies droppe their heads, knowing they were busted. The three slowly trotted into her class and Ditzy began sprinting right to Frost. She stopped a few feet from his breathing body. He laid in the dirt with a smile stil on his face. He opened his eyes and looked up to the mare. "Hey, there..." He whispered. "Why?" she asked with tears in her eyes. "Why did you take my place?" "I couldn't... I wouldn't let them hurt you." Frost said getting up to his hooves. "Why?" She asked sitting in fromt of Frost. "I'm not sure... I felt like I had to do something about it. I would never let it go if they hurt you too." He tried to explain. "We need should get you home." she said to him. Ditzy helped him get back to his house. She rang the bell and Diamond answered the door. And she gasped as she saw her son in this state. "Hey mom." Frost said looking up at her. "Oh my! What happened!" Diamond said holding Frosts mane out of the way to see the bruise. "Bullies did this!" Ditzy said to her. "Bullies? Oh, well you should come inside and explain it to me." She said opening the door to the house. Ditzy explained the thing that the bullies did. They would occasionally just knock thing out of their hooves and call them names. But they seemed to go too far, they began punching and beating. Diamond looked at his bruise and scrape. After he was tended to, Diamond took Ditzy to her home. And Frost was heading up to his room. "Son.." Heart called from the open door to the balcony. Frost's heart sank. Frost sighed and prepared himself for the long lecture from his dad. He stepped out onto the balcony and sat in front of him. "Take a seat." He said pointing to the empty space on the bench next to him. "What is it dad?" Frost said as he climbed onto the bench. "I heard about what happened." Heart said pouring liquor into a small glass of ice. "Yeah. Kinda rough." Frost said looking down at the floor. "You protected her didn't you?" His father said, taking a sip from the glass. "How did you know that?" Frost asked looking up to him. "I heard her say that she was there. But when I saw her. She didn't have a single scratch on her." Heart explained. "I would have fought back. I'm just too weak." Frost said letting his ears drop. "Frost, you'll understand sometime." Heart said, beginning his lecture for his son. "Just having muscles wont help much. You have bravery and the will to take the pain for Ditzy. If you just had the muscles, you wouldn't even think about taking the beating. You would go headfirst into a fight, just thinking of your strength. But what you did, you understood your position, and had the will for Ditzy's safety to protect her. And having that, means a hell of a lot more than strength. Do you understand?" "I think I do." Frost responded. "I just wish I didn't have to take their beatings and just fight back, for myself." "Fighting for yourself wont help much. But you will know when the time is right to fight back. The moment will present itself, and when it does, you'll feel like you have all the strength in the world." Heart said placing his hoof on his son's shoulder. "Thanks dad. I'm going to go lay down." Frost said moving back into his house. "Alright, son." Heart said taking another sip from the glass. Frost crawled in his bed and relaxed his sore muscles. He felt a sudden feeling of tiredness in him. He closed his eyes and fell asleep with a smile on his face. >Author's note: Man, do I have this story planned out! Well here is another chapter please tell me how I am doing! Chapter 3: FeelingsChapter 3: Feelings Frost woke the next morning, excited it was the weekend. This meant that he could go to Ditzy's house or the first time. He hopped out of bed as he hummed to himself. A quick shower woke him from his tiredness and he brushed his mane down. He looked at himself in the mirror and saw that there was no more blackmess around his eyes. He flipped his mane out of the way of his left eye, and he smiled at how his reflection looked. He grabbed a piece of toast and a plate of eggs his parents made for him. At the table, Heart was sipping a glass of orange juice and reading the newspaper. Diamond was eating an apple and looking at a magazine. "Hey, mom?" Frost said, with a mouth full of toast. "Yes, dear?" Diamond answered, flipping the page. "Can I go to Ditzy's today?" Frost asked taking a spoonful of eggs and popping it in his mouth. "If it's okay with her parents." Diamond said smiling at her son. "Okay, I'll head over there later." Frost said, finishing his glass of juice. "Thats, fine. Just be nice around her parents." Diamond said, sounding motherly. "Okay, mom." Frost said putting his plate and glass in the sink. Frost went upstairs to his room and grabbed his pair of headphones. He place them on his head and turned on his turntables. He turned dials and slid tabs around. Base began to boom through the headset and he turned more dials and pressed buttons. Treble began to sound in harmony with the base. He closed his eye and began to bob his head to the beat. The beat took over his body as he continued to create music. Moments later, his music came to an end and and he placed his headphones on the rack. Frost turned in his chair to his window and sighed. A smile grew on his face as he couldn't wait anymore. Frost grabbed his jacket and put his head and hooves through. The door to his room opened and he trotted though to the front door. "I'm going to Ditzy's house!" He called opening the door. "Alright, be home by dark!" Heart responded from upstairs. Frost stepped out to the chilly day and closed the door behind him. The road kicked up dust as he trotted to Sugar Cube Corner. He looked at the houses as he passed. A small gray bolted into a house and slammed the door shut. Frost thought that must have been Ditzy, so he trotted to the door and knocked on it with a hoof. A white mare answered the door. Her mane was yellow, but brighter than Ditzy's. "Hello, does Ditzy live here?" Frost asked the mare. "Yes she does, and she has had enough of you three!" She said slamming the door in his face. "Huh? What do you mean!" He said, loud enough to sound through the door. Again the door swung open, but faster and the mare looked angry. "You bullies had made it rough on her, and she has had enough!" She yelled to Frost. His heart sank as he thought of what he had done to her. "I'm very sorry to hear that. I'm no bully, though. The three have messed me up too." He said feeling the bruise on his head. "Wait, what is your name?" She asked opening the door a little wider. "I'm Frost Bolt, and if you would please let me, I'd like to talk to Ditzy." Frost said with concern in his voice now. "Oh! She told me about you." The mare said with a sheepish smile on her face. Frost ignored it, because he didn't understand why. "Her room is the first door on the right." She said pointing a hoof to a hallway. "Thank you." Frost said stepping into the house and the door closing behind him. He slowly approached her door and let a small knock on it. He listened and heard sniffling from inside and movenment. After a minute, he knocked again. "Go away, mom! I don't want to talk right now!" She yelled from inside. "It's me, Frost." He said softly from the hallway. He heard hoof-steps and the door opened. He stepped inside and the door closed behind him. He turned to Ditzy, noticing the redness in her eyes and the streams of tears on her face. "What did they do to you?" He whispered, feeling a sharp pain in his heart as he looked at her. "They pushed me around. Called me names like cross-eyed retard and dumb-flank." She said lowering her head and ears flopped agains the side of her head. Frost saw a tear hit the floor and her mane covered her eyes. He sat down in front of her and sighed. Frost gathered his words in his head, and his stomach ached again. A sigh sounded from him again and he leaned close to her. He brushed the golden mane that covered her eyes. She looked up at him with her gold eyes. The beautiful gold orbs were scorched red from crying. A smile grew on his face as he wiped a tear from her face. She smiled back as his hoof rested on her shoulder. "I know their words hurt. But you know what? They don't have what we have, the will to take all of their words and hate. We can overcome this together, Ditzy. You're stronger than I am Ditzy." Frost said smiling at her. "How is that." She said sniffling and looking at Frost in his eyes. "I get punched and beaten by them. Sure it hurts, but the pain goes away. Scars and bruises soon heal. But words aren't like a scar. They stick to you and begin to eat away at you. But you take their words and can overcome them. They have words as their weapon, but you have the upper hoof. You have this." Frost patted his hoof on Ditzy's chest. "A heart, and not just any heart. A heart that can withstand any painful words. I see that you are sad right now, but I also see the bravest set of eyes in the world. That is why you are stronger than me." He set his hoof back down as he finished talking. She smiled and looked at him in the eyes. She wrapped her hooves around his back and pulled him close to her. She rested her head on the back of his neck and she sighed. Frost began to heat up and his heart pounded in his chest. His wings gave a small flutter as he smiled again. He set his head down and nuzzled it agains the back of Ditzy's neck. The embrace made the whole world melt away around them. Thousands of burdens lifted off his shoulders as he felt the warmth surround him. "Thank you." Ditzy whispered as she nuzzled him back. "Its okay... Nopony deserves to take as much as you do." Frost said patting her back. "Why do you like to help me so much?" She said, pulling away from their embrace. "Well..." He began to gather his words again in his mind. "I'm not going to lie. But ever since I saw you getting bullied, I though it was the worst thing I ever witnessed. Something inside me made me approach you and help you cheer up. But when I sat with you and talked with you. I felt strange, and I was so comfortable around you. When I see you so torn apart, I feel like my world doesn't matter anymore. All I feel is to help you. And to be honest, I like being around you, and helping you be happy." The ache in his stomach returned and he waited for her reaction. She smiled as she understood what he meant. A tear streamed down her cheek, and a frown appeared on Frost's face. "What's wrong?" He said concerned. "Thank you. That means alot, and its nice to know how you feel." She said wiping the tear from her eye. "Well, I guess you want to be alone, so I'll see you later, okay?" He said making his way to her door. "Um... Okay, I'll come by your house when I can hang out, okay?" She said stopping him from leaving. "That sounds great! I can't wait to see you!" Frost said leaving the house. He passed through the gates to the house and turned back. Ditzy held happiness in her eyes again as she smiled at him. Frost waved goodbye and she returned the gesture. He felt so light and care free again. He heard laughter and he looked around the street. He saw the three bullies laughing together and sitting on a bench. He took a step in their direction, but his fathers words rang in his head. "Not yet..." He said to himself, continuing to his house. He entered the door and greeted his father as he trotted up to the stairs to his room. He sat at his desk and set his headphones on his neck. A knock filled the room and the door opened. Heart trotted into the room and sat on his bed. "Your jacket is wet." Heart said, pointing out the small wet-spot. "Oh, Ditzy was a little upset. I talked to her and let her have some time to herself." Frost explained leaning back into his chair. "Bullies?" Heart asked looking out the window. "Yeah." He said, turning back to his desk. "And you were there to be her shoulder to cry on?" Heart said approaching his son. "I guess I was." Frost said looking up from the dials. "That's my boy." Heart said, patting his son on the head. "So, what are you working on, now?" "Would you like to hear it?" Frost turned to his dad. He was looking out the window with a smile on his face. He nodded and Frost turned back to the board of dials and tabs. He unplugged the headset and plugged his speakers in. The room began to rumble and the base began with the song. A the song began to wind down, Heart stood up off his bed and placed his hoof on Frosts back. "You're really good at this, keep it up, and you'll be a great producer one day." He said trotting to the door. "Thanks, dad." Frost said, turning off his equipment. "Frost! Ditzy is here to see you!" Diamond called from downstairs. Frost left his room and quickly. His dad told him to be back by dark again as he patted his back. Frost trotted downstairs went to the door. He saw Ditzy sitting at the doorway with her bags. "Hey! What would you like to do?" Frost said closing the door behind him. "Follow me." Ditzy said spreading her wings. She flapped hard and took off. Frost hasn't flown in a while and he stretched his wings through his jacket. Air began to blow from underneath him as flapped his wings. He got a few feet off the ground and followed close behind Ditzy. They flew together to a hill with a single apple tree near the edge. They landed and Ditzy sat under the tree reaching into her bags. "I would always come here to get away from things." She said pulling out a small bottle. "Watch this." She opened the cap to the bottle and dipped the stick in the liquid. She held out the stick and waved it around. Bubbles began to form in the air and shone in the light of the setting sun. As each bubble crossed the sun, each beam shone through, making an array of colors fill the shade of the tree. The reflections shudder and sway from the bubbles. Ditzy and Frost watched as the beautiful orbs danced in the light. "They're so beautiful. No wonder bubbles are your cutie-mark. You turned something so simple, into a beautiful piece of art." Frost said looking at Ditzy, who was blushing. Frost suddenly felt something warm on his shoulder. He looked down to see Ditzy resting her head on his shoulder. He turned his gaze back to the sky and watched the sun on the horizon. "Hey Frost..." Ditzy whispered moving her head. "Hmm?" He mumbled looking down to her. Ditzy's face was blushed red as stretched her neck up to him, and landed a kiss on the cheek. His eyes spread wide as he turned beat red and his wings let out a small flutter. His heart ponded again and he felt like flying to Luna's moon and back. His stomach flipped as he smiled at her. "Thank you... For being there for me." She said resting her head back on his shoulder. "Anytime, Ditzy." He said wrapping a hoof around her shoulder. All of the hate and pain left from his mind. He felt freed from a trap that he has been stuck in for years. Ever since he met Ditzy, his heart was so broken, but now its warm and full again. He will protect Ditzy forever and be there to let her cry on his shoulder. >Author's note: Thanks for the feedback. Chapter 4: Fighting BackChapter 4: Fighting Back >Author's Note: This note is going to be up here this time. It has come to my attention that I may not be satisfying people with my chapters. So I, of course, want to make them best for all of you. So please, leave suggestions of how I can make them better. Thanks for reading, and enjoy. Frost sat in his chair the next morning, looking out the window to the sun shining brightly into the room. He smiled and got up to eat breakfast. Frost moved downstairs to see a note. He picked it up and began to read. Frost, Your father and I are going to be gone for a while, we are going to shop in town and will be back around dark. Be safe and don't burn the house down if you want to cook something. -Mom P.S. This is your father writing now. If Ditzy comes by and she needs you, you be there for her. I give you permission to leave the house for her. Be responsible. -Dad He set the note back down on the table. His dad really appreciated how he was protecting Ditzy, and began to build trust in his son. Frost was never allowed to leave the house when they aren't there. Frost entered the kitchen and grabbed a box of cereal and milk. He filled the bowl and sat down and began to eat with a spoon. The sweet corn flakes tingled on his tongue and the sugar woke him a little. Later, a few knocks sounded from the front door. The door opened and Frost saw Ditzy wearing her saddle bags on her back. "Hey, good morning!" Frost said closing the door behind him. "Morning? Its almost 2." Ditzy said laughing. "Oh, well whats up?" Frost said sitting down. "I was wondering if you would like to go to the park today?" Ditzy said with a bug grin. "Sure, lead the way!" Frost said fluttering his wings. Ditzy trotted down the road with her gold mane swaying in the wind. Frost followed close by as he watched all the joy in this mare. They arrived at the park and sat under a tree. Ditzy pulled out two muffins and she handed one to Frost smiling. He picked up the warm muffin and brought it to his mouth. The taste of berries and cinnamon exploded on his tongue. "Ditzy, you are an amazing baker! Please never stop baking!" Frost said savoring the sweet baked good. "Thanks, I won't." Ditzy said sheepishly, and blushing. After they ate their muffins, they sat next to each other and leaned on the tree. The clouds above morphed and slowly flowed in the sky. Suddenly Frost felt a tap on his shoulder. "Tag! You're it!" Ditzy said running away. "No way!" Frost yelled laughing and chasing after her. Frost tagged her back and turned the other way. He hid behind a tree and looked for Ditzy, she wasn't in site. Than Ditzy jumped from behind a bush and tackled Frost and rolled down the hill. They laughed as they held on to each other and tumbled down. As they reached the bottom of the hill, Ditzy laid on top of Frost in the grass. "Tag! You're it!" Ditzy said laughing. They both laughed for a while, Ditzy still on top of him. Their laughing calmed and turned to silence. Frost gazed into the golden eyes of Ditzy and she smiled down at him. A blush appeared over Ditzy's face as it became a little awkward. She hopped off Frost and he got to his hooves and sat next to Ditzy in the grass. "Hey, do you want to come to my house?" Frost asked breaking the silence. "Sure!" She said with a smile growing on her face. Frost and Ditzy trotted together in the park to leave. The followed the path to an underpass of a bridge. As they entered the shadow of the underpass, an extended hoof tripped Frost making him land on his chin. A pair of hooves held him down as he frantically began to look around. Ditzy was being pinned against the wall by Buzz. He looked up to see Zoom holding him down. Arid was laughing as he entered from around the corner of the path. "Well, aren't you two just a great couple." He said looking at Frost and Ditzy. "Let her go!" Frost said getting his face shoved into the dirt. "Oh, no. Not this time. You see, because of her, we were landed in a month of detention. And our parents have grounded us for quite some time. So she isn't going anywhere. And you get to watch her get what she deserves." "Don't you dare hurt her!" Frost yelled, anger growing in his voice. "Or what? You can't do anything! You're pinned down, and are too weak do even stand up." Arid laughed. "Don't test me! Now let her go. But if you dare harm a hair on her body, I will BUCK YOU UP!" Frost roared inhailing in between his last three words. A hoof drove into his nose from above, causing it to bleed. "Yeah, what ever brat! But she is such a beautiful thing." Arid said brushing his hoof down her cheek. Ditzy returned his gesture by spitting in his face. Arid grabbed her and threw her to the ground. Her saddle bags spilled out and something red landed in front of Frost. It was a note in the shape of a heart. The top of the letter read: To Frost From Ditzy But it was only the front of the letter. He wanted to unfold it and read the rest. But than he looked up to Ditzy, she was on the ground crying. Arid stood ontop of her and brought his hoof up in the air. Suddenly, time slowed down. Frost's heart began ponding in his chest. His father's words rang in his head. "You'll know when it's time..." Frost's muscles bulged as he forced himself up off the ground. The force of a thousand stallions pushed him up off the ground. He reared up his legs and bucked Zoom agains the wall. Arid's hoof stopped in motion, and looked at Frost in shock. Buzz came charging at him and Frost dodged him. Buzz was confused by how fast he was and was bucked to the side. He rolled into the light and laid on the ground. Slowly approaching Arid, his nostrils flared and steam blew out. Arid grinned and came straight for Frost. And he didn't stop him. Arid brought a hoof across his face, making him bleed from the nose again. Frost looked back at Arid, still standing his ground. Frost used his front hooves and drove him into the wall. Arid struggled as he trembled in the sight of Frost. "Do you see what will can do? Look at this." Breeze spat on the ground, drops of blood hit the floor and Arid glared down at it. "That's blood. We all have it. Nothing makes us different. We are all the same. Just ponies living our lives. But then there are ponies like you. Little arrogant bullies who just think they are more powerful than others. But you know what? We are all stronger than you! We take your beating and your words. What have you taken? Nothing! And if you so much as dare confront Ditzy again, you will be in a hospital. You want to deal with Ditzy? You better deal with me first, because I am her shield! And I will break you if you touch her again." Frost stared into the frightened eyes of Arid. He pushed him away and Arid went to his friends who held their stomachs and ran away. Frost watched as they sprinted far away from him. Than he turned to Ditzy who was looking up at him with shock in her eyes. She laid in the dirt with tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry." He said sitting down and leaning against the brick wall. He slowly move over to Ditzy. He held out a hoof to help her up. She grabbed it and he pulled her up. "I shouldn't have done that..." Frost said letting tears flow down his cheeks. "Its okay, Frost. You were doing what you thought was right." She said picking up her things. Frost watched as she picked up the red letter and quickly placed it in her bags. "Um... Frost?" Ditzy said stepping closer to him. "Hmm?" Frost mumbled still looking at the floor. "Look!" She said pointing at his flank. He turned to see a blue shield with a red heart in the center. His cutie-mark appeared and it wasn't what he expected. He had hoped for something to do with music, but this meant more to him. The talent was protecting who he held close to him. "Awesome!" Frost said getting a little happier. "I think we should get something to clean us up." He said noticing the dirt and blood on his nose. Ditzy nodded her head and they went back to Frost's house and cleaned up. Ditzy had a small bruise on her shoulder, but that was pretty much it. Frost had a bruise where he was hit in the chin. They went upstairs and Frost began to play music for Ditzy. She giggled and flapped her wings. He looked over to see her bobbing her head to the beat and tapping her hooves. The music ended and it was time for Ditzy to go home. He walked her to the door. "I'm sorry you had to see me like that." Frost said looking down at the ground in front of Ditzy. "It's okay. Thank you for protecting me." She said leaning again. She kissed him on the cheek again and giggled. Frosts face turned red again and his wings fluttered. He looked to Ditzy, she had a coy smile and was blushing. "I'll see you at school tomorrow!" She said dashing out the door. "See you there!" Frost yelled as she went back to her house. Frost went upstairs and sat at his desk. The red letter was lying on his equipment. He picked it up and unfolded it. He began to read the words inside. Frost, When I met you, I couldn't control myself. I tried to stay calm, but I was so nervous. You didn't seem to notice that thought. When I'm around you you make me feel so free and protected. I kissed you the other day, because I felt like it was right. Im sorry if you thought it was awkward, but know that I like you a lot. So will you be my special somepony? -Ditzy Frost laid the letter on the desk and leaned back in his chair. His heart was pounding out of his chest. The thought of having Derpy as his special somepony, excited him. This is what he was feeling the entire time, a bond. At such a young age of 13 he has a mare-friend, and the best one in the world. He looked out his window to see the setting sun in the distance. He looked at the letter and looked back to the sunset. "Yes, Ditzy. I'd love to." He said to himself. Chapter 5: Special SomeponyChapter 5: Special Somepony As Frost entered the door to the classroom, he saw the three bullies sitting in their seats and staring at him. Frost glared daggers into their eyes as he passed them. None of them said or did anything, instead they just held their heads down. Frost sat down in his seat and looked to the left. Ditzy wasn't in her seat. Frost immediately thought to the three again. "Where is she?" Frost whispered, with anger in his voice. "I-I don't know I swear!" Arid whispered back, ducking in his seat. Frost felt a little relief as he leaned back into his chair. He stared down at the wooden desk and began to wonder where she may be. Time passed as he could only think of her. The lunch bell rang and he sat outside and looked around. Ditzy still wasn't in site. He looked down at his lunch bag and knocked it aside. He was to worried to eat. His vision turned to the sky as he looked up at the clouds slowly passing overhead. School was over before he knew it and was heading straight for Ditzy's house. He approached the door and gave it a few knocks. The door opened and the mare greeted him. "Hello, Frost. Ditzy isn't feeling very well today, so she can't come outside." She said apologizing. "Oh, okay." Frost said with relief. "Is there anything else?" She said looking down at him. Frost's ears perked up as he remembered something. He had written a letter for Ditzy, and was supposed to give it to her in class. He reached in his bags and pulled out the letter that has his newly acquired cutie-mark on it. "This is for Ditzy, can you please give it to her?" Frost said holding up the letter to her. "Of course." She said taking the letter. "Well, tell her to get well soon!" Frost said trotting away. "Will do!" She said closing the door and walking into the house. Frost spread his wings and began flight back to his house. Opening the door, he greeted his parents and headed upstairs where he sat at his desk. He starred down at the dials and waited for the inspiration to create a beat. But it never came. At the desk, he sat for almost an hour before his mother called him down for dinner. He trotted down the stairs and sat at the table where his father had already been eating. Diamond handed him a sandwich and he sat down at the table and began to eat. He sipped the water from the glass and took another bite. Diamond sat down with her own sandwich an enjoyed the meal with the family. After dinner, Frost left to the balcony to talk to his dad. He opened the glass door and slid it shut behind him. Heat was sipping liquor from his usual small glass. Frost sat down next to his dad and looked at the sun. "Hey dad?" Frost began. "Yes, Frost?" Heart replied pouring more liquid into his glass. "Do you think I am too young to have a special somepony?" Frost said, almost embarrassed to ask the question. "Hmm." Heat pondered. Taking a sip from his glass and turning his gaze to the clouds above. "I guess the real question should be: are you ready to have that special somepony?" Heat continued, turning his son's question into something deeper. "Yes, I am. I like her a lot, and want to be there for her. I feel something in between. Something more powerful than just friendship. And it took me a while to understand this. I feel like I am ready." Frost explained looking right at Heart. "I think that sounds about right. You're really growing up, Frost." Heart said putting a hoof on his his son's shoulder. "Really? Thanks dad!" Frost said, hopping off the couch. Frost returned to his room and Diamond followed close by. He sat in his desk's chair and she handed him a plate with two brownies on it. "Whats this for?" Frost asked holding the plate. "I heard your talk with your dad. I'm so proud of you, little man." Diamond said, kissing him on the head. Frost thanked her and took a bite of the warm chocolate dessert. He chewed as he watched the sun touched down on the peak of a far away mountain. Frost finished the plate and went downstairs. He placed the plate in the sink. Frost returned upstairs with a bottle of water and set it on his bedside table. Frost sat up in his beg and looked out his window. He loved staring at how the beautiful sun distorted the plain white clouds, to pink and orange masses of many shapes and sizes. As the sun finally made it past the mountain, Frost closed his eyes and drifted off to a peaceful sleep. Friday had arrived and Frost was heading to school. Every day, Frost would stop by to see how Ditzy was doing. Her mom had told him she would be able to go to school today, and Frost had anticipated the arrival of today. He stepped inside the classroom and took his seat. Frost's heart sank as he saw the empty desk next to him. Frost looked out the window as he rested his head on a hoof. Suddenly Ditzy came bursting through the door. "Sorry, I'm late Miss Cheerilee!" Ditzy said trotting to the violet mare. "It's okay, Ditzy. Please take your seat." She said pointing to the empty desk next to Frost. Frost held a big smile on his face. He hadn't seen Ditzy in almost a week. She sat down and blushed as she looked at him. A coy smile appeared on her face as she slowly looked over to him. She saw that Frost was still looking at her, than she quickly darted her eyes back forward. "Hey, Ditzy. Are you all better now?" Frost whispered to her. "Mm-hm!" She hummed back. "Did you, uh, read my letter?" Frost whispered leaning back in his chair. She blushed more and looked over at him. "I did, and thank you. I'm really happy." She whispered back. Smiling at Frost. Miss Cheerilee scolded them for talking in class and told them to wait for lunch to talk. As they trotted together outside, they held their lunch bags in their mouth. Ditzy sat under the tree and Frost sat across from her in the grass. "Can you believe school is almost over?" Frost asked, taking a bite of his apple. "Not really, no." Ditzy said taking a small bit of her muffin. "I'm going to be turning 14 over the summer." Frost said, already excited for the day. "Mine isn't until winter." Ditzy said letting her ears flop down. "Aww, lucky! I love the cold, and your birthday is closer to Hearth's Warming Eve. That means you must get a lot of presents!" Frost said trying to cheer her up. "Hey, your right!" Ditzy said with her ears pointing back up now. Frost loved seeing her happy. She would have a small smile and her ears would perk up. The gray wings on her back would flutter a couple times as she giggled. Probably the most adorable thing he's ever seen. "So were colt-friend and mare-friend now, eh?" Frost said looking up to the sky. "Yeah... I guess so." Ditzy said blushing looking at Frost. "Hey, would your parents let me take you to Sugar Cube Corner after school? Like a date?" Frost said, feeling his face get warm. "Maybe." Ditzy said with a coy smile on her face. "Awesome!" Frost said looking at her with excitement in his eyes. After schools Frost waved goodbye to Ditzy and was on his way home to prepare for his date. But the first thing to do, was convince his parents that he is ready to take a mare on a date. Chapter 6: First DateChapter 6: First Date Frost looked outside his window and looked down at the collard shirt his father made him wear. The white material irritated his skin and caused him to itch a little. The sun glowed a deep orange and there wasn't a cloud in sight. He turned from his window and passed through his doors. In the hallway his dad called him into his room. Frost entered his parents room and received a few sprays of cologne. Frost inhaled some and it burned at his nose. "Ahh! Don't you think that's a little too much?" Frost said clenching his nose shut. "Nah, it will wear down in a minute or two." Heart said patting his son's head. "Alright. Well, I'm gonna go now." Frost said turning to the door. "Hang on a minute." His father said putting some bits into a pouch. "Don't let her pay a single bit!" He said handing Frost the pouch. "Umm, alright?" Frost said putting the pouch in his shirt pocket. Frost grabbed the door nob and his mom came bursting from the living room. "Hang on! I want to get a picture!" She said holding a camera to her face. "Ugh... Mom is this necessary?" Frost said through his teeth as he out on a fake smile. The flash of the camera nearly blinded him. Frost brought his hooves to his eyes and rubbed them. "Of course it is! Now go get her, tiger!" She said, basically pushing him out the door. Frost began to trot to Ditzy's house. His heart was beating a mile a minute, because of his sudden nervousness. Frost looked at the door for a moment and took a deep breath. He knocked on the door three times and he heard a small squeal from inside. The door opened and his jaw dropped. "Hey." Ditzy said looking into Frost's eyes. Frost gazed at the beautiful mare that sat in front of him. Her tail and mane were straightened down to a point. The sun reflecting of her hair made it shine in the light. "Hello, beautiful..." Frost said softly in a daze. Ditzy giggled and gave a coy smile. Her blush broke Frost from his daze and he began to gather his words in his head. "Um, ready to go?" Frost said looking back at her. She nodded and closed the door behind her. Ditzy trotted with Frost to Sugar Cube Corner. They trotted together in silence, but smiles were kept on their faces. Frost opened the door for Ditzy and she replied with a "thank you." "Hey, you two! What can I get ya!" Pinkie squealed from behind the counter. "I'll just have a cupcake and a medium chocolate shake." Frost said to her. He looked over to see Ditzy frantically looking in the glass container for the right treat. "You can get what ever you like." Frost said, putting a hoof on her shoulder to calm her. "I just don't have enough bits for most of these things." Ditzy whispered. "No, I'm paying for the both of us." Frost said holding up his pouch of bits. "I can't take your money, Frost." Ditzy said looking down at the floor. "It's okay! Please, I insist." Frost said setting his hoof back on the ground. "Well, okay... I'll have the Apple Cinnamon muffin and a small chocolate shake." Ditzy said softly to the pink mare. "Okie Dokie!" She said bouncing to the back of the shop. "Here you are!" Pinkie said setting the food on a tray and handing it to Frost. "Ditzy, can you hold this while I get the bits?" Frost said handing the tray to her. "Okay." She said grabbing the tray with her teeth. "That will be 35 bit, please!" Pinkie said opening the register. "Here you go!" Frost said holding up the bits for the food. "Lets sit down somewhere, shall we?" Frost said turning to the tables in the sweet shop. Ditzy trotted ahead of Frost to a nearby booth. Ditzy suddenly tripped over her own hoof an the tray of food flew into the air. In one swift movement Frost caught Ditzy from falling and caught her muffin as well. The two shakes hit the floor and spilled onto the ground, and Frost's cupcake landed on its icing. Frost lifted Ditzy back up to her hooves and holding out the muffin. She looked down at the muffin and began to cry. "I'm sorry." Ditzy cried, hiding behind her mane. "Hey, its okay." Frost said softly, brushing her mane out of her eyes. She looked up at him with her eyes crossed. Frost smiled down at her, trying to show her that he isn't upset. He saw tears streaming down her cheeks as she looked back down at the muffin in Frost's hoof. "C'mon, let's sit down." Frost said sitting down at the booth. Ditzy sniffled as she sat down across from him. "Uh-oh! Looks like I got to get you new drinks!" Pinkie said dashing into the room. In one quick motion, she cleaned up the mess. Than moments later, she came out with two shakes and brought them to their table. "These are on the house!" Pinkie said, setting the shakes down and bouncing back to the kitchen. "She forgot your cupcake..." Ditzy whispered looking at the empty spot in front of him. "That's alright. I wasn't that hungry anyway." Frost said taking a sip of his milkshake. "Here." Ditzy said, splitting the muffin into two parts. "No, Ditzy, thats okay. You ordered that for yourself." Frost said, not letting her hand him the half. "Please, I will feel bad if I am the only one eating anything." Ditzy said holding the half out again. "Alright, you win." He said, taking the muffin and setting it on a napkin. "Hmm... This is pretty good." Frost said taking another bite. "Isn't it? I always get it when I come here." Ditzy said taking a bite. They finished their dessert and left the shop. Outside, the sun had just been setting. They decided to fly over to the tree where Ditzy showed him what bubbles can really do. The hill still had that large tree and a nice spot to sit and view the sunset. They sat together and watched it sink below the mountains in the distance. "I'm sorry, again, for dropping the food earlier." Ditzy said looking at Frost. "Like I said, it's not a big deal." Frost said grabbing Ditzy's hoof and holding it. "If it wasn't for my eyes, I wouldn't have screwed up." Ditzy said looking down. "Ditzy, don't talk like that. It's not your fault, because things just happen sometimes." Frost said moving her head up to look at him. "No, my eyes are-" Frost's hoof covered her lips to stop her from speaking. "Beautiful." Frost said to finish her sentence, and removed his hoof from her lips. He looked into her golden eyes and smiled. "No... You're just saying that to make me feel better. Frost... Are you only dating me... Because you feel sorry for me?" Ditzy said, looking up to him. Frost's heart began to drop as Ditzy came to that conclusion. "No way! I really like you Ditzy!" Frost said, grabbing her other hoof. "I don't think I can believe what your saying..." Ditzy said, looking down to the grass. Frost took a deep breath and sighed. He knew only one way to prove how he felt for her. "Than maybe I shouldn't use words." Frost said softly. Frost leaned in and closed his eyes. His lips collided with Ditzy's and a sudden burst of heat filled his body. He could feel his heart melting. Ditzy's muscles were tense at first, but began to loosen. She wrapped her hooves around him and began to kiss him back. Frost leaned back to break the kiss, and Ditzy leaned in, following him out to make it last a little while longer. Their eyes opened and Ditzy stared into his eyes. "Do you believe me now?" Frost asked holding her hooves again. She slowly nodded her head, still shocked at what happened. A guitar began to play and Frost recognized it as his father's. He sighed and looked back to the sunset. "That's my dad..." Frost said turning his head to the town, where the noise is coming from. "It's his way of telling me that I need to come home. I know, it's really weird, but what can I do?" Frost explained. "I'll walk you home." Ditzy arrived at the door to her house and she stopped and turned to Frost. Suddenly, she leaped at him and hugged him. "Thank you." She whispered. "Anytime, Ditzy." Frost whispered back. She turned away and trotted inside. Frost felt like bolting straight into the air and flying to the stars above. He opened the door to his home and passed the open glass door to the balcony. "How'd it go?" Heart said from the balcony. "It was amazing." Frost said remembering back to the kiss. A week had passed and school had finally come to an end. It was the last day and the teacher had a special assignment planned for them. "Okay, class! Your assignment is to write about the best thing that happened to you this year at school. Please turn it in to me when your done." Miss Cheerilee instructed. Frost looked down at his paper and began to write. "The best thing that happened to me this year..." He stopped and turned to see Ditzy. She held her tongue out as she began to write on her paper. A smile grew on his face and continued to write. "...was when I met my special somepony, Ditzy Doo..." >Author's note about sequel: And I think I'll end it here! There may be a sequel to show how their relationship is when they're 20 years old. And show how Dinky will come into play. Is that something you readers will be interested in? If not, I'll just continue this story with time skips.
Chapter 1: BulliesChapter 1: Bullies The school bell rings.
