The Demons Within Us
The Midnight & The Hatred Within Us Both
An Uchiha’s Wrath Future Spin-Off
*Takes place during The Midnight in Me scene during Equestria Girls Legend of Everfree*
In the Everfree Woods…
Twilight Sparkle was seen alone in the woods at Camp Everfree. Her friends just didn't understand! Midnight Sparkle couldn't be stopped. She was HER for goodness’ sake!
“I'm so scared…” she said softly to herself. She wrapped her arms around herself as she shuddered from the dark whispers of Midnight Sparkle that plagued her mind.
Twilight once again looked at her reflection in the nearby pond. “If only someone understood my point of things. My pain…” she whispered the last part to herself with tears in her eyes.

Twilight got up and began to softly sing to herself.
“It used to be so simple
It was a world I understood
I didn't know what I didn't know
And life seemed pretty good
But now the darkness rises
From somewhere deep inside of me
Her power all but takes me
Can I keep this midnight from getting free?
If I can stay with the light
I know I'll be free
And I can start to be whole
I can start to be me
But instead I am struggling
With all that I see
And these friends
Mustn't see the midnight in me
The midnight in me!
They mustn't see the midnight in...
Me.”
After finishing her song, she suddenly heard clapping from behind her. She turned around expecting to see Midnight Sparkle ready to torture her with seductive whispers of power, but instead, she saw a young man in a black coat.
The black coat he wore was a full-length black coat with a hood and a waist-high slit going up the back. It possessed a large silver zipper that fastened at the top and zipped down to seal it. The coat has two silver drawstrings for it’s hood decorated with a large silver bead hanging from the ends. Finally, a silver chain ornament adorned with four large cylindrical silver beads that fastens to a loop on either side of the collarbone region completed the look.
The boy’s hood was down, allowing her to see his face. It was pale peach in color and he possessed black hair. However, his eyes were covered by a thick, black blindfold. Somehow though, she knew he could see her.
Scared and feeling vulnerable, she asked, “Wh-Who are you?”
The boy didn't respond at first and simply stared at her, as if analyzing her. He simply nodded to himself and finally spoke a few minutes after. “That was a beautiful song you sang.” He stated monotonously.
“How long were you there?” She couldn't believe she was watched the whole time by this young man. He was so quiet! “And don't change the subject! I asked who you are.”
The boy gave a small, humorless laugh. “Me?” He asked. “I am nobody. Just a ghost- a fragment of a dark past.” He said cryptically.
Twilight couldn't get a read on this man. He listens to her song and avoids her questions? Just who was he? A stalker? A bandit hiding about here from the police? She shook those trouts away. Her friends were most likely wondering where she's at and she had no time to talk to a person who wouldn't answer her.
She began to walk by him before he suddenly said something that surprised her. It was a mere whisper, something not meant to be said aloud, but she heard it anyway. “I know how you feel…”
Twilight couldn't understand it. He understood her? HER of all people?! He had to be lying. A simple person like him could never understand what she-
“You must be thinking that ‘I can't understand.’ That a mere nobody like myself is simply that. No one. You're wrong however. I know EXACTLY how you feel. After all, something similar happened to me in the past. It still affects me to this day actually…” he said in a tone that was filled with sorrow and regret.
Finding herself suddenly interested about this man, she walked back over to him. “If you know how I feel, then what could you possibly have experienced that reminds my situation of yours?” She asked.
The boy turned his head towards her, blindfolded eyes looking at her; deep into her soul. He then motioned her to follow him and she did so.
After a small moment of walking, they reached a small clearing, although something was odd about it. She could detect something similar to magic shrouding everything.
About to ask what she was brought here for, the man raised a hand in a strange sign and said, “Genjutsu, Kai!” After that, the clearing became distorted, revealing a log cabin surrounded by beautiful flowers and other shrubbery.
The man then walked over and opened the door. “Come inside.” He simply said. He then walked in while a hesitant Twilight followed.
The inside of the cabin was quite spacey and normal looking. She couldn't find anything else strange besides that energy she felt earlier. She then turned to the boy and saw him sitting at a table, two mugs of what she assumed was hot cocoa in front of him.
“I assume you've a lot of questions as to why I brought you to my sanctum and what that energy was correct?” He asked her. She couldn't help but simply nod in confirmation to his words.
He once again beckoned to her and she sat down. Silence reigned for a few minutes before he spoke. “I was there that day you became her. The day you became Midnight Sparkle.”
Reeling back as if struck, she made an effort to run, but was stopped by strange vines that stuck her feet to the ground.
“If you'd let me finish please…” he whispered in a warning tone. She simply nodded once more, although this time in fear. He sighed and directed the vines to put her back to her chair. He then gave her her hot cocoa, which she accepted hesitantly.
“As I was saying,” he began. “I was there that day at the Friendship Games. I saw what you became, and honestly, what happened to you was better than what I once was.”
“H-how so?” Twilight asked. “And what was that energy you used? It feels so similar to Equestrian Magic.”
The boy nodded. “It is called Chakra. An energy that is indeed similar to magic. The only difference between the two is that Chakra is an internal energy only a select few are born with. It can bring life, but also death; the latter I was once affiliated with sadly.”
Chakra… why did that word ring a bell in her mind??? Wait. Her friends once mentioned a man who could use and harness this energy, along with a select few shady characters that could do the same… could he be-
“Are you…Madara Uchiha?” She asked, completely fearful for her life.
“That name rings familiar, but no. I am no longer Madara Uchiha. Rather, I am a part of him. A part he discarded long ago. I am his light, his happiness, his soul, and everything else positive of him.”
“Wait, then that means you're…”
“Sunset must've told you about me when you joined their little group, but yes.” He then removed his blindfold, showing his charcoal black eyes that suddenly morphed into a crimson red with the pupils becoming surrounded by three tomoe. “I am Obito Uchiha. Former friend of the Elements of Harmony. Those girls you call friends.”
Twilight was stumped. This was Obito Uchiha. The famed Uchiha that was once a part of her friend Sunset Shimmer’s life. But she had said he died long ago! How was he standing before her now?
“You seek answers I cannot answer at the moment.” Obito said. “Yet, based on your current expression, you know a bit about me and my former actions.”
“Well, yea!” Twilight found herself shouting at the calm man. “You betrayed your friends! You turned your back on them! How could you have called them your friends when you weren't at all?!” She finished with tears in her eyes. She took off her glasses and rubbed them away.
“I have no excuses for that. However, I will give you a simple answer that will tell you how I know about your pain and about your little rant there.” He took in a deep breath. “My answer is this: hatred.” He stated simply.
“Hatred?” Twilight asked with a small frown. How could hatred make him understand her and bring about his betrayal with her friends?
“Yes. Hatred. Hatred can cause many things. It can be a catalyst for something powerful, yet can also lead to heartbreak and sorrow. Both that I have experienced.” He explained.
“I was indeed once known as Madara Uchiha, but I was banished here after a long war with Equestria. I did terrible things, both there and here yes, but part of me was manipulated by my hatred. The…as you put it, Midnight in me.”
Twilight was about to speak again, but Obito/Madara stopped her with a hand held up. He then continued.
“As Madara, I was cold hearted and embraced the power of hatred. However, when I was banished, my hatred and positive sides became separated. I became an amnesiac at first, but slowly regained my memories. It didn't help that I joined my other self, the heart of Madara, whom manipulated my confused self. It caused me to break away from my friends and let to corruption. Eventually, I was able to break out of Madara’s hold, but to my shame, did not face up to my mistakes and I ran. Simply ran to somewhere where I'd be forgotten and alone. I eventually found this place. But even though I found my peace here, the peace in my heart has not been satisfied. Deep down, I wish I could see her again… feel the warmth she once gave me and tell her how I feel. I know though, she’d never accept me. Never.”
Twilight couldn't help but find herself captivated by Obito’s tale. She never knew the full extent of Sunset’s former friendship with him. But now, she knew a few bits. But that begged the question. Why was he at the Friendship Games?
“If that's the case, why were you there at the Friendship Games?” Twilight asked, hoping to receive a clear answer.
“After spending awhile here in contemplative thought, I chose to head back and apologize. That was when you transformed and reminded me of all the horrible sins I committed as Madara. I once again felt ashamed and ran.” He then got up and faced one of the windows showing the camp in the distance. “Nonetheless, I swore to myself that if I could make up for what I did in any way, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It was pure coincidence I ran into you. I felt obligated to help so I could start my repentance, even if it’s not enough. I knew though that when I ran into you, I could finally let go of some of the burden I've held.”
Twilight frowned and looked down in thought. She was then surprised by Obito’s hand patting her on her shoulder. “If there's one thing I remember about my friendship with those girls,” he began. “It's that sharing your problems and burdens with one another lessens the pain you feel.”
Twilight gave a small smile and said, “Yea…I guess you're right.”
Obito nodded and looked at the clock. “I've kept you here long enough it seems. You can go. But before you do,” he pulled out something from his coat. It was a letter. “Please give this to Sunset for me. Please.”
Twilight took it and gave a small nod. The last thing she knew was Obito’s Sharingan looking at her and she blacked out.
After Events of Movie...
They had done it. Defeated the corrupted Gloriosa and embraced the magic given to them. It was a great feeling.
As everyone was packing for the trip back, Twilight remembered she had to do something for someone. She headed over to Sunset, whom was sitting at the dock.
“Hey Sunset!” She shouted.
“Huh? What is it Twilight?” She asked.
Twilight took a moment to catch her breath and handed Sunset the letter she received from Obito. “This is for you. It's from a friend.” She said in a knowing tone. She then walked off, leaving a confused Sunset behind.
She opened the letter that said “From a Friend”, and looked at it’s contents. There, she saw something that put tears to her eyes.
Dear Sunset,
I am sorry for all the pain and suffering I gave you long ago. However, know this. As long as I live and breath, I will always be watching over you. For I realize now that I truly did genuinely love you. I truly hope you can forgive me. Keep an eye on Twilight Sunset. She's truly something else.
Your friend (hopefully), Obito
Crying small tears, Sunset couldn't help but look to the sky saying, “I love you too Obito. And I forgive you…” she then heard Rainbow calling for her as the bus was arriving to pick them up. She grabbed her things and headed back. As she looked back, she thought she saw someone, but wrote it off as her imagination.
Meanwhile, a certain Uchiha watched as Sunset and co. left Camp Everfree and went home. He watched as the night sky soon came and looked deeply at the stars. He then said one thing.
“Sunset…thank you.”
THE END (for now!)
