//-------------------------------------------------------// That One Night -by AuroraViolet- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Memories //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Memories The sky grew darker, painted blue on blue, one stroke at a time, into deeper and deeper shades of night as I gently rose the beautiful moon. I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night. Soon, the majestic moon was high in the sky, the rivers of water beneath it glistening under the moonlight. That was the cue for me to proceed to my bedroom and prepare for my deep slumber. My eyes snapped open to the dreadful sound of loud thunder. I tried to stand up but I felt a jolt of pain shoot through my front left hoof. I looked around. Everything was strangely very familiar but I was no longer in my bedroom at the Canterlot Castle. Instead, I was on a pile of hay in the middle of a violent thunderstorm. A loud, ear piercing scream filled my ears. I winced, and tried to cover them with my hooves. All of a sudden, I felt the ground beneath me shake. A herd of ponies rushed by me, some carrying crying foals and fillies with them and some wailing and screaming. They were all bruised and blistered, some had deep cuts on their hooves, with blood oozing out. My jaw dropped after seeing these ponies. Not because of their condition, but because of how familiar they looked to me. "Luna?" Squeaked a voice. That voice... "Tia?" I turned around slowly, not exactly sure what to expect. "Luna, we have to find Mom and Dad." A little alicorn filly, who looked no older than 6 or 7 years old, told me. She had large pale, light greyish magenta eyes and a snow white coat. She was with no doubt my elder Sister, Celestia. Except...she was a young filly. I felt a sudden pang of mixed emotions. Confusion, devastation, nostalgia, panic and pain. A single tear sheds from my right eye. I remember. I remember the war. I remember the struggle. I remember the survival. I remember loosing my parents. "Come on! We have to find them!" Celestia squeaked once more, her face wearing a worried expression while she tugged on my small, dark blue hoof. No matter what she did, I stood rooted to the ground. The feeling was all too familiar. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Goodbye //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Goodbye Two very familiar looking adult alicorns ran past us. "Mom! Dad!" Celestia cried out to our parents. She pulled me to my feet and started running after them. I winced a little when my front left hoof sent a shock of pain through me but I fought the pain and forced myself to run after my parents. I teared up, knowing what would happen to them. "Celestia, Luna, run! Run as far away from here!" My Mother shouted to Celestia and I as we ran from an angry army of Changlings and Crystal Ponies under the command of Queen Chrysalis and King Sombra. My Father carried Celestia and I before placing us somewhere hidden. "Stay safe. We love you." He then flew up into the sky with my Mother right behind him. I could not bear to watch the scene replay before my eyes once again, so I turned away from them while my vision continued to blur. I could see Celestia watching our parents, a petrified expression on her face, with tears welling up in her eyes. Knowing what to expect, I lowered my head as I cried my heart out when I heard a blast of Dark Magic being shot directly at my parents by Chrysalis. "No." Celestia whimpered. I could barely see Celestia holding back her tears through my blurred vision with her jaw clenched tight. More tears streamed down my face as I heard two loud thuds. My parents had fallen to the ground. Celestia put a hoof around me. She was next to me, crying softly. I heard hooves trotting over to where my parents landed. I knew it was King Sombra. I've watched it all before, thousands of years ago. I still remember it clearly. "He's got a knife." Celestia's eyes widened, as she snuck a peek at the scene. She quickly turned away and closed her eyes with her hooves. I saw tears from the both of us fall to the ground. We heard a stab. We winced. And multiple more stabs. Celestia pulled me closer and hugged me tightly. We cried our eyes out. We couldn't bear to look at our dead parents's corpses. Instead, Celestia got up. "We have to find somewhere safe to hide." Her voice, almost a whisper, filled with dread and sadness. I got up, ignoring the pain from my hoof and walked alongside Celestia. As we walked, we heard the Changelings flying away and King Sombra with his servants galloping away.
