Fall, the time after summer and before winter. Ponyville's running of the leaves was a success, every leaf had fallen off on time, thanks to Maud, who was spending some time with her sister Pinkie when the event came up. Nightmare Night was a week away, and everypony was already in the sprite of the season, yet two mare's who Twilight knew wanted to do more for the season.
"You want to do what with the castle?" Twilight asked.
'We want to know if you'll let us borrow the castle so we can make it into a horror house for Nightmare Night. When I ran the village I never let anypony celibate any holidays so I wanna do something amazing for this nightmare night after you helped me realize Hearths Warming Eve was fun." Starlight replied, a pleading look across her face.
"Come on Sparkle, it'll be fun. And Trixie knows how to set up everything, She's been doing it her whole life." Trixie added.
"Look, As much as a fun idea as that sounds, I just don't feel right lending it to you two for a week." Twilight said.
"But we need a week to prepare everything. Well, four days to set it up, Nightmare Night to run it, then two days to change it back. Everything will be fine Twilight, I promise." Starlight assured.
This was Twilight's dilemma. She trusted Starlight, and Trixie had finally earned her trust, but the castle had become her home especially after everything her friends did to make it feel homey for her. Making it the only real place in Ponyville she can get a proper night's sleep. Shes had sleepovers at all her friends before, but without the feeling of home she got from the castle, it was a rough night.
Then again, she still felt at home back in Canterlot. Weather it was in her tower, which Moon Dancer was now the owner of, or her parent's place. She knew her old room there was still just as she's left it, and she has been meaning to visit them. It has been too long since they last met, pulse she knew her BBBFF and Cadence were visiting to show off Flurry to her parents and were staying there. It had been years since they've all been together without something trying to destroy Equestria.
Twilight gave a sigh. "Alright you two. You can have your week, but I'll be back Nightmare Night to check out what you've done. Okay?"
"Thank you Twilight!" Both Trixie and Starlight said in unison while hugging the purple alicorn.
"Okay, girls I need to breath!" The two let go of Twilight. "Spike and I will start packing, we'll be in Canterlot til Nightmare Night then back in town to see how you've done."
"Thanks Twilight!" Starlight said.
"Don't mention it. Just try and top what Fluttershy did last Nightmare Night, now that was a good scare."

Later that afternoon, Twilight and Spike had left for Canterlot, leaving Starlight and Trixie waiting for their ace in the hole to show up.
The two mares sat patiently in front of a large mirror, elegantly decorated with the image of an earth pony mounted above it.
"How much longer?" Trixie asked.
"She said by eleven o'clock." Starlight replied. "I just hope what she brings will be good."
"From what she's told us, that human world is on a whole other level of violence than Equestria is."
Suddenly the mirror began to glow a bright white and a unicorn mare appeared, with a distinctive red and yellow mane and tail. "Sunset!" Both Trixie and Starlight said simultaneously.
Not long after Starlight had befriended Trixie, she found herself wandering around Twilight's castle and stumbled upon the portal to the human world. She leaned in a bit too close trying to pick out something from between her teeth and fell in. Thankfully for her, Sunset Shimmer was at the entrance on the other side. The two became quick friends and Trixie added not long after made the three get along swimmingly.
"So what did you research up?" Starlight asked.
"Only the best of earth's horror movies, video games, and dark legends. It all gave me freaky nightmares that I added to my notebook cause they were just so good!"
"Well then, let's get started."
