A car drove smoothly down the road in the sun's dying light; inside the car, there were two ponies, if you wish to be exact than it was two stallions. One of the stallions, an earthpony, sat in the back of the car while the other, a unicorn, was in the driver's seat. The one in the back seat was a nervous fellow, he was either biting his lip or tapping his forehoof against the seat, his nervous state was for a good reason, of course.
The unicorn in the front seat was unconsciously causing this nervousness. The unicorn in the driver's seat was an unnerving sight; he was nodding to a tune nobody could hear with a smile a mile wide, knowing completely of deeds he had done and what deeds he was going to do that night.
Out of the blue, the unicorn starts to ask the earthpony a question.
"So, Sparky-"
"It's just, Sparks," Sparks corrected nervously.
"Whatever you say, Sparky, so, would you like to tell me what makes you such a high priority target?" the unicorn asked Sparks, while simultaneously messing around with the rearview mirror.
"I'm sorry?" Sparks looked up in confusion. "'High priority target?'"
"Yes, that's what you are," the unicorn straightforwardly. "Seriously, though could you answer the question?"
"I'm afraid I can't," Sparks said truthfully. The unicorn was about to ask another question when Sparks elaborated. "I can't tell you because I don't know."
The look on the unicorn's face told Sparks that he didn't believe a word he just said. Silence filled the car for a brief amount of time, as fragile as thin ice, shattered by Sparks voice.
"Are you going to kill me?" Sparks asked almost inaudibly.
The unicorn looked at him surprise clear in his eyes.
"Right to the point, huh?" the unicorn said with a chuckle. When Sparks didn't say anything, the unicorn continued talking. "Alright tell you what since you provided me with an actual conversation that didn't involve any fruitless begging for your life and all that, I'll tell you." the unicorns response didn't inspire confidence in Sparks. "Yes, I'm technically going to kill you and commit murder but-"
Sparks cut the unicorn off before he could continue.
"Why?" Sparks asked recoiling away from the unicorn. "Why would you do that to another pony?" the unicorn didn't answer immediately, he had this sour look on his face.
"I wouldn't recommend you don't interrupt me again." the unicorn said with a steely tone. "As I was saying before I was cut off-" the unicorn gave Sparks one more look before continuing. "-the pays good, especially for you," his smile returned after he finished speaking.
"What do you mean by that?" Sparks asked dreading the answer.
"To put it in simpler terms, your worth more bits dead than you are alive," the unicorn said in a cheerful tone. "I'm not going to tell you exactly how much, that might ruin the good conversation we got going on."
"What do you mean, 'good conversation'? You just told me that you were going to kill me, not only a couple of minutes ago!" Sparks said shocked at how nonchalantly the unicorn had just brushed past the subject.
"Hey, come on! Don't be like that," the unicorn said with a frown. "Sure I told you that, but I could of just as easily not have," Sparks didn't respond to the unicorn; he was too busy messing with the lock on the car door, trying to unlock it without gaining the unicorn's attention. "Hey, Sparky you there?" the unicorn look back just in time to see Sparks jumping out the car door. The unicorn chuckled. "Always, one that tries to get away,"
Sparks was running as fast as he could to get away, thinking he was escaping from someone who plays fair. A magical blue aura surrounded Sparks freezing him in place.
"I will admit, pretty brave jumping out of a speeding car. Not much a plan besides that I assume?" the unicorn said entering Sparks field of view with that mile long smile of his. "So, anything to say about your attempted escape?" the unicorn asked waiting for an answer. Sparks didn't say anything in response. "Nothing, no sorry, no apologie?" the unicorns smile melted off his face, and without warning, he punched Sparks right in the muzzle, not too kindly either. A small bit a blood dribbled out of Sparks nose. Sparks attempted to move, but the unicorns magic held him in place.
"You can say sorry or-" the unicorn kicked him in the gut. "-I can beat it out of you. Your choice,"
"Why should I say-" the unicorn took another swing at his muzzle, making more blood drip out of Sparks nose.
"You could end this you know, it's as easy as saying two magic words," the unicorn said, swaying side to side waiting for Sparks to apologize. When Sparks took to long to respond, the unicorn hit him across the muzzle again.
"Wait I'm-" another hit across the face, blood splattered on the road staining it a crimson color.
"Just two words~," the unicorns said in a singsong voice. "Not three or four just two~,"
"I'm sorry..." Sparks said quietly, his muzzle a multicolored mess of bruises. The thoughts going through Sparks mind are best summed up as hopeless, I rather not describe some of the darker thoughts that crossed his mind.
"Not so hard was it? Now lets back to the car, I got a schedule to keep," the unicorn said, pulling Sparks with his magical telekinetic grip.
Once they arrived at the car, the unicorn put Sparks in the back and went to the driver's seat. The car started up and was going smoothly down the road once more.
"Alright, only a couple minutes wasted on one escape attempt, you're doing better than the others did," the unicorn said with his trademark smile. Sparks didn't comment on what he said; instead, he was looking out the window, watching as the land passed by in an uncacheable blur. The unicorn took this as a sign to continue talking. "Not going to talk anymore eh? I guess I can't blame you, considering what I just did," the unicorn said, trying to prompt Sparks to talk.
Sparks kept silent with a solemn look on his face. The silence was uneasy in a way; Sparks wouldn't speak, while the unicorn just kept on smiling, trying to get Sparks to talk every once in awhile. The car was getting closer and closer to its destination and the dread that Sparks felt only grew.
The car came to a stop, in front of a large house; it was more of a mansion.
"Here we are, final stop!" the unicorn said gesturing to the house.
"You know you don't have to do this...right?" Sparks asked, his voice akin to a whisper.
"So, he speaks!" the unicorn said turning to look at Sparks. "And to answer your question, yes I know I don't have to do this, but I do it anyway," the unicorn got out of the car and opened Sparks door.
"Why?" Sparks asked getting out of the car; his muzzle was still a mess, though the blood was dry by now.
"That's one too many questions. Now come on, we just got to knock on the door!" the unicorn led Sparks along in his magical grip; to make sure he didn't try to escape this time. The unicorn knocked on the door and waited. It took a couple minutes for someone to answer the door.
Once the door was answered, another pony talked with the unicorn for a couple of minutes; once they seemed to reach an agreement, the pony handed the unicorn a bag of bits and the unicorn gave Sparks to the pony. Getting into his car, the unicorn started the long drive home. While he was driving a thought crossed his mind, he swore he had an earthpony brother.
