Nightmares.

Every night, Spike has nightmares about the Mane 7 ditching him forever. And the nightmares get worse and worse every night. He feels like it's always dark, and he thinks it always will be. However, one day, 2 beams of light come to him to give him some comfort.

NOTE:
Set in the EQG universe with a bit of AU. The only real difference is Spike is a human, not a dog.

Nightmares.

Nightmares and comfort.

It was night time, Spike was trying to sleep, but he couldn't. For about the past week, every night, he was having nightmares. Really bad nightmares. Nightmares where his 7 friends ditched him forever.

IN THE NIGHTMARE

"What's going on here?" Spike asked? What was unknown to Spike, was that he was in another one of his nightmares, and this one was gonna be the worst one. All of a sudden, he saw 7 girls returning from having a good time, which makes Spike kinda sad, since they went without him again. So he decided to talk about it

"Hey girls." Spike said happily, but that happiness turned to sadness very quickly. The girls were all smiling, but it wasn't normal happy smiles, and they too, quickly changed from smiles, to angered grins. Spike then decided to figure out why they kept going without you.

"Why do you all keep going to have good times without me? Aren't I all your friends?" Spike asked with concern.

But then, they all started saying mean things to him.

"Why would we ever bring you along, you purple and green freak?" Twilight Sparkle scolded at him.

Spike was shocked at what he thought his best friend said to him. But the worst thing was, they weren't done.

The rest of them started calling him things along the lines of, Ugly, Creepy, and so many more.

"Stupid"

"Bimbo-head"

"Dumb"

Spike was in tears, he couldn't believe his friends were doing this to him.

"Please stop. STOP PLEASE!!!!"

NIGHTMARE OVER

"AHHH!!!" Spike yelled. He breathed out relief when he realized it was a nightmare.

"It was a dream, just a dream. Just a really bad dream." Spike said with relief.

With the nightmare done and over with, Spike was able to sleep in peace.

THE NEXT DAY

Spike woke up the next morning, and he was rather sad about the nightmare he had the previous night. He decided to go out for a walk to try and get it off his mind.

Rarity and Fluttershy were going for a walk. It was a Saturday, so they didn't have to go to school, and everybody could kick back and relax.

"Have you seen Spike lately?" Rarity asked with concern. "I haven't seen him lately, and I'm starting to get worried."

"Nope, I haven't seen him lately. I'm also starting to get really worried." Fluttershy replied.

"Do you think we should try and find him, and see what's on his mind?" Rarity asked?

Yeah, I think we should. If he hasn't been around for days, something must have happened." Fluttershy said.

With their agreement, they set out to search for Spike.

Spike had gone walking for about 45 minutes, and he decided to sit down. He looked down at the ground, as the walk he took to try and get the nightmare from the previous night off his mind, didn't help him at all. He felt like darkness was surrounding him, and nothing could help him.

But then, he saw 2 beacons of light and hope walking towards him.

"SPIKE!!!!" Rarity and Fluttershy both squealed with excitement as they both ran towards him and hugged him. Tears were coming out of both of their eyes. They were worried about Spike but were happy to know that he was okay.

Rarity and Fluttershy then released their hug, and then they noticed that Spike was starting to tear up again. Then he started crying harshly.

"Spike?" Rarity asked with concern. "What's wrong"

Spike didn't want to talk about it though. "Nothing's wrong. I'm just really happy" he replied. Rarity and Fluttershy both immediately know that wasn't the case.

"Spike?" Fluttershy asked. "Please tell me and Rarity what's wrong. We want to help you, but we can't if you don't tell us." Fluttershy said.

"Okay. You got me." Spike solemnly said. "I'll tell you."

"Okay Spike. We're listening" Rarity said, and she and Fluttershy scooted next to him and they were ready to hug him because they knew it was gonna be something sad.

"I've.... I've.... I've been having nightmares for the past week. And they....keep getting worse." Spike said. Tears were starting to build up in his eyes.

"Spike.... what happened in those nightmares? Fluttershy asked with concern.

"In my nightmares, I keep getting ditched by all 7 of you, and last night was the worst out of the whole bunch." Spike was on the verge of crying.

"I remember, you all were going off doing fun things without me, basically hanging me out to dry. And when I asked you all why you all did those things, you all started calling me mean things." Spike broke in between saying it, and his emotions overtook him, and he started crying.

"Spikey-wikey, that's horrible." Rarity said in a sad tone.

"Oh....my. You poor thing." Fluttershy said.

Rarity and Fluttershy both wrapped their arms around Spike, and brought him into a close embrace, trying to comfort him. They didn't say anything while Spike was crying. They just stayed there with him, hugging him while he let out all his emotions.

After a while, Spike stopped crying. Rarity and Fluttershy kept hugging him. They wanted him to be happy again.

Rarity and Fluttershy then decided to try and cheer him up.

"Spikey, Don't listen to those dumb nightmares, they aren't true. You are such a great friend, and sometimes, I don't have as good as a time, when you aren't there." Rarity said, hugging Spike, and also giving him a kiss on the cheek, making him slightly blush.

"Spike, I really do enjoy when you come to the animal shelter, I really enjoy watching the animals doing their normal things alongside you." Fluttershy happily said.

Spike was smiling again, not only because his crush kissed him, but the fact that she and a best friend of his were there in his darkest hour.

"Thank you both. Really, I needed this." Spike said, with tears of joy.

"Anything for an awesome friend." Fluttershy and Rarity said in unison.

Rarity and Fluttershy hugged him once again.

"I have a request." Spike said.

"What would that be?" Rarity asked

"I'd like to see the rest of our friends. Can you 2 take them to me please?" Spike said.

"We'd be more than happy to, Spike." Fluttershy said. She and Rarity hugged him one more time before they got up, and headed off to the rest of their friends.

"Spike?" Rarity said as they were walking. "Promise me, that if something is bugging you, you won't hesitate to tell any of us?" Rarity asked him.

"It's a promise." Spike replied with a smile. Rarity replied by hugging him and kissing him one last time.

"A true true friend helps a friend in need."
