Welcome one and all, Fillies and Gentlecolts… Today, I will be telling you the story of the Two Sisters and the Elements of Harmony. (Ahem)

Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled together and created harmony for all the land.

To do this, the eldest used her alicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn; the younger brought out the moon to begin the night. Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects, all the different types of ponies.

But as time went on, the younger sister became resentful. The ponies relished and played in the day her elder sister brought forth, but shunned and slept through her beautiful night.

One fateful day, the younger alicorn refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn. The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one’s heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness: Nightmare Moon.

She vowed that she would shroud the land in eternal night.

Reluctantly, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to ponydom: the Elements of Harmony. Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister and banished her permanently in the moon.

The elder sister took on responsibility for both sun and moon, and harmony was maintained in Equestria for generations since.

“You see? It even says so in the story books. If we really want to conquer Equestria for real this time, we'll need to get rid of the Elements’ power first. Golly gee, I can’t believe it took us this long to figure that one out.”

“It isn’t that we didn’t think to do that already, you irksome brat! It’s that we didn’t have a way to remove the Elements’ power permanently yet. Remember, both Sombra and Discord attempted to destroy the Tree of Harmony before, but neither considered Twilight Sparkle and her friends would find a to bring it back.”

“Oh yeah. They are really good at finding ways to foil our evil plans aren't they?”

“Irritatingly so... but with this Bewitching Bell and the powers of chaos already trapped within it, we’ll be able to take out that tree once and for all. Princess Twilight and her friends won’t be able to stop us this time, and Equestria will finally be ours to rule!”

Oh dear… I didn’t realize there would be so many bad eggs in the audience today, and it appears I’ve given them the idea to do something terrible to the Tree of Harmony.

Without the tree, harmony can’t exist within Equestria and all the creatures who live there will be thrown into a world of chaos! This is just awful. Whatever will they do…?

Author's Note

So the rewrite I had in mind for this story wasn't as much of a overhaul as I thought it be. The plot for this story is still largely the same, just with some new characters and information thrown into the mix. Hope you guys enjoy this new take on this story!
