It was a beautiful, starry night over Ponyville. The residents of the town were sleeping in their homes, all but one small filly. Her name was Apple Bloom, a proud member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. It was created by Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo to help them get their cutie marks. She had gone through a bad day today after she stole and drank an incomplete potion with Heart’s Desire’s petals in it from Zecora.
At first, the potion gave her a silver hoop as her cutie mark. However, unfortunately, it gave her more cutie marks and she forced to do all of her cutie marks’ talents simultaneously. There was only one cure and that was the Seeds of Truth. She had to confess to everypony that her cutie marks were made by the potion to make The Seeds of Truth grow into The Flower of Truth. She immediately ate the flower and her cutie marks had slowly disappeared shortly after she ate the flower.
“RRRRGGGGGGGGG, I can't sleep!” Apple Bloom growled frustratedly to herself after she sat up against her bed’s headboard.
“I promise you’ll get your cutie mark tonight, my sweet bloom.” A mysterious accented voice female claimed softly. It had come from somewhere in front of Apple Bloom’s room.
Apple Bloom knew the mysterious voice sounded familiar, but she couldn't remember its owner.
“Applejack, is that you? Thanks, but your pep talk isn't going to help me right now.” She said, an eyebrow raised and a slight irritation in her voice.
“I’m not that brat, my husbands backstabbing mother brainwashed her. You have a special talent. Applejack, and her mother are trying to hide it from you but I expect my son is sneaky enough to try to help you discover it.” The voice said with a slight of hatred in it.
“Why would you try to pretend to be our dead mother? I don't believe you for a second.” Apple Bloom replied angrily while getting off from her bed and going to her bedroom door to call for her family.
Before she reached her bedroom door, a shadowy smoke beat her to door and reformed as a tall mare that was now blocking the door from her. She looked up at the mare and came to the quick realisation that the mare before her was none other than her mother.
“I know you’re surprised to see I’m not dead. Granny told you a huge lie about our death to prevent you realizing your true potential.” Her mother stated flatly before kneeling down to hug her daughter.
Apple Bloom was too shocked to respond her mother’s hug as her mind was trying to process how her parents were not dead and Granny had lied about her parents’ death all this time.
“Mother! I missed you so much!” Apple Bloom said happily after a short while and jumped into her mother’s embrace.
“I missed you too, my little bloom.” Her mother cooed softly in her daughter’s ear as she held her tightly.
It didn't take long for her to begin crying in her mothers embrace, years of sorrow finally being released.
After few minutes, Apple Bloom finally stopped crying and wiped her tears from her eyes.
“Are you okay now sweetie?” The mare asked motherly while holding her daughter in her embrace.
“I’m better now.” Apple Bloom answered honestly while looking into her mother’s amber eyes.
“Good, are you ready to get your cutie mark tonight?” Her mother said encouragingly with a wide smile.
“You bet I am!” Apple Bloom shouted excitedly before her mother put one of her front hooves into her daughter’s mouth to shut her up.
Her mother waited for a few minutes to hear if Applejack or Granny woke up from her daughter’s outburst. Unfortunately, She heard somepony was coming from another side of her daughter's bedroom door.
“Hurry, my little bloom. Go to your bed and act like you’re sleeping!” Her mother ordered quickly before transforming into a shadowy smoke and rising to her daughter’s bedroom ceiling.
Apple Bloom gave an understanding head nod to her room ceiling and ran to her bed. She quickly jumped on her bed and acted like as she was sleeping. Apple Bloom’s bedroom door slowly opened and a buffed, apple red furred stallion with a hay like mane and tail came into her bedroom while holding some kind of mask in his mouth.
“My little Mac! You have gotten huge since I last saw you. Honey, you can stop pretending like you’re sleeping now.” Their mother said quietly and excitedly after going down from the ceiling to reform into her original form.
Apple Bloom stopped acting at her mothers call and came over to her and Big Mac.
“What’s in your mouth, Mac?” Apple Bloom asked curiously while pointing one of her forelegs at his mouth.
Mac carefully dropped the thing that he was holding in his mouth. She immediately recognized it as her hoof-carved Nightmare Night mask that her big brother had made. It had six breathing holes that where aligned to create a creepy smile and had three stars burned into it.
“I thought Applejack and Granny told you to destroy this because it was made me looked like a serial killer.” She said happily before putting her mask on.
“Eeyup, but I hid it from them,” Mac said with a smirk on his face.
“How's It look on me?” Apple Bloom asked curiously.
“Sweetie, it looks great on you, and I’m proud of you. Mac. You’re good brother to have saved it for her.” Their mother cooed gladly with a big smile on her face.
“So how do I get my cutie mark tonight, mom?” Apple Bloom asked as well as she could with the mask covering her mouth.
“It’s simple, you only need to kill Applejack.” Her mother told her with a stone cold expression on her face.
“That's all? This is going to be a walk in the park.” Apple Bloom said ominously while approaching her bed. She moved her bed pillow off from her bed to get a veggie knife that was underneath her pillow.
She grabbed the veggie knife’s handle with her mouth and exited her bedroom. Apple Bloom was not aware of the fact she was going insane and her dead mother, her mask, and Big Mac were illusions from her insanity.
They disappeared after she left her bedroom to the hallway. Her only light source was Luna’s moonlight from hallway’s window. She simply ignored the wooden floor planks that creaked every time her hooves contacted the wooden floor. Finally, she made to her target’s room and carefully jumped on Applejack’s bed without waking up her big sis.
“IT’S TIME TO DIE, SIS!” She thought ominously while repositioning herself to slice her sister’s throat.
Apple Bloom ruthlessly sliced Applejack’s throat, however, her slice was not deep enough to kill Applejack instantly. Applejack immediately woke up and screamed from the pain was coming from her neck.
“Apple Bloom, why?” Applejack asked in terror while seeing Apple Bloom was readying her next attack.
The screaming had brought Big Mac running from his room and his jaw dropped when he saw the situation before him.
“NOPE, YOUR TALENT IS NOT KILLING!!!” Big Mac yelled fearlessly after recovering from the initial shock and proceeded to kick Apple Bloom through Applejack’s bedroom window.
Quickly turning to his bleeding sister he said, “You're bleeding out slowly, don’t move, AJ!” while grabbing a cloth to slow down her bleeding.
He quickly bandaged the cut as well as he could before crying, “I’ll be back with help for you!” and left her in her room to get help in town.
Applejack nodded and crying in pain from her injury, she couldn't understand why her little sister would try to kill her for a cutie mark.
Apple Bloom was unconscious and lightly bleeding due by the trauma of falling from two stories, her brother’s kick, and pieces of broken glass from Applejack’s window. Fortunately for her, the mysterious pony creature was watching over her from shadows. It transformed into shadowy smoke, grabbed her unconscious body and retreated into the Everfree forest.
