Mirrors, Truths, And Tea-Parties

Ever since I was a little colt, I’ve always hated mirrors. There’s just something about my reflection that feels fundamentally wrong for some reason. Until recently, though, it has never been this bad—never bad enough to actually smash one.

It’s somewhat confusing, really. I mean, why would anypony punch a pane of metal and glass? What is it about myself that gets me so put off? It can’t just be how I look, right? It has to be something deeper than that.

I couldn’t have known that on the first day of school it would only take one off-hoof comment about tea parties during Thaumaturgy class for everything to unravel—my loneliness, my general awkwardness, my academic and motivational issues, and my hatred of my own reflection.

It would turn out that I'd have to make a choice—a huge decision rooted at the very core of my own identity: am I Snails or am I Spice?

This fan-fiction will inevitably cover controversial topics in later chapters, namely in the form of social commentary. I will seek to paint the most neutral, nuanced, and accurate pictures of these issues as possible. That being said, my criticisms are rather aggressive and controversial in it of themselves, so if you're interested in just having your beliefs parroted back at you, this is not the fan-fiction for you.
