//-------------------------------------------------------// Twilight Goes Out To a Bar -by TheRandomCreations- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Twilight Goes Out to a Bar //-------------------------------------------------------// Twilight Goes Out to a Bar The streets of Ponyville were slowly emptying as the day was nearing it’s end. Those ponies that were outside were either meeting with their friends or going to dates with their special someponies. One pony however wasn’t doing too good. Twilight Sparkle was in the middle of making a very important decision. She was contemplating whether or not to go out to a bar. It wasn’t an ordinary bar though. It was a mares only bar. It wasn’t like she didn’t want to, it was just the fact that she was scared, scared of the consequences. Princess Celestia’s personal student spotted in a fillyfooler bar? That would be a scandal. It wasn’t like fillyfoolery wasn’t common, she was more scared of what would happen to her family and the Princess. A lot of the nobles in Canterlot were rather old fashioned you see. Her family could be publicly humiliated and the Princess’s reputation would suffer. Still, she has been sacrificing her happiness for a long time now. She overheard a mare telling her friend how her date went. That conversation has re-awoken the loneliness that she felt in her heart. She could meet some mares and have a good time. Twilight however, knew just what to do. She needed to put together a checklist. That way she would be prepared for everything that could happen tonight. She picked up her quill and some parchment with her magic and started writing her plan. She wrote and scribbled so fast that at one point her quill snapped in half. But one snapped quill wasn’t going to stop her! She took out one of her spares and finished the checklist. She wiped away the sweat from her forehead and smiled at her work. She read it a couple of times in order to memorize everything she wrote. Sometimes ideas came to her in the middle of writing so like a good writer, she checked her work for errors and made sure she knew what she wrote. Everything seemed to be in order so Twilight made the hard decision she knew she had to make. She left the checklist on her table. After all, she couldn’t go to a bar with it could she? She knew it to be true. Twilight left her library and slowly walked to the place where mares of Ponyville gathered. The place where they were free from stallions. The “Evening Rose”. She could see it in the distance. The neon sign of a red rose made it easy to spot. This was it. If she does this nothing will be the same ever again. Even if she didn’t spend much time with other fillyfoolers she studied them enough to know what would happen. When you were spotted at a fillyfooler bar for the first time, every mare in time would know by tomorrow. You can do it Twilight, said Twilight to herself before she opened the door. As she entered the bar nearly all of the mares were looking at her. Whispers could be heard while she was nervously trotting to the counter. “A cider please,” she ordered. The barmare gave her the cider with a smile and a wink no less. Twilight never felt so comfortable before. She could finally be herself. Twilight was halfway through her drink when somepony accidentally bumped into her. The collision was brief, but it was long enough for Twilight to lose her focus and spill her drink. “Oh, I’m so sorry,” apologised the mare. Twilight was about to respond when she recognised the mare. It was one of her old school colleagues, Lyra Heartstrings. Twilight smiled.“It’s OK Lyra, it was an accident.” Lyra’s eyes widened in surprise. “You remember me?” she said. Twilight raised an eyebrow at that. “Why wouldn’t I? You weren’t some random pony from my school. You were in most of the classes I took.” Lyra smiled back at Twilight. She seemed happy at the fact that Twilight remembered her. “Well yes, but you were kind of a shut in back then. I didn’t think you noticed anything other than your books,” said Lyra, “no offence.” “You are not wrong. I was a lot like that back then, before I met my friends,” said Twilight sadly. “Tell you what Twi,” started Lyra, “I’ll buy you another cider to replace the one I spilled, and we can have a nice chat. We could get to know each better.” Twilight liked that idea. She could reconnect with an old friend and maybe even find somepony to give her some advice about meeting other mares. She smiled again, but this time the smile was wider. “Sure, why not.” “Great! Just give me a minute to get the drinks,” said Lyra. She went over to the barmare for the order. Twilight could see Lyra ordering their ciders and a moment later the barmare gave Lyra three mugs of cider. The lavender mare wondered for who the third one was. “Okay Twilight, follow me,” said Lyra. Twilight did so and a couple of meters away was a table. The table was secluded from the rest of the bar by tall seats that surrounded it. The seats looked really comfortable. They were made of dark wood, they were covered with red fabric filled with wool. Occupying one of the seats was a cream coloured mare. Twilight recognised her. It was one of Ponyville’s candy-makers, Bon Bon. She was reading a book while she was waiting for Lyra to return. “Did you bring the refills dear?” she asked without looking up. Lyra grinned “I did, and I brought somepony I’d like you to meet with me,” she said excitedly. This time Bon Bon looked up. She was a bit surprised to discover that the pony in question was Twilight Sparkle. The one mare nopony expected to show up at the Evening Rose. “Oh, hi Twilight. I didn’t know you two knew each other,” she said. “We went to the same school when we were younger,” said Twilight. Lyra smiled and nodded. “Yeah, I accidentally bumped into her and I thought the three of us could have a nice chat.” Bon Bon smiled. “Sure, have a seat Twilight. I would love to get to know you better,” she said. Twilight and lyra sat down and lyra levitated the ciders to her companions. They started to talk about topics ranging from their past to their plans for the future. Lyra and Bon Bon seemed to be particularly interested about her plans for the future and her love life. After some more talking and a couple of drinks later Lyra changed the topic. “Listen Twilight, we have a confession to make,” she said Bon Bon nodded. “One of the reasons Lyra asked you over is because the two of us have been looking for a third mare to start a herd with,” she said Lyra continued. “We agreed that when either of us met a mare she liked, she would invite her over so the other one could meet her as well.” “If she did we agreed to ask her out on a date. Although we only talked briefly before, we have seen you do a lot of self sacrifice for the good of all of us. The things we learned about you in these past two hours are amazing. You are an amazing mare Twilight, so will you go out on a date with us?” asked Bon Bon. Twilight was so shocked by this revelation that she was unable to respond. She wasn’t expecting to be asked out on her first time in the bar. She wasn’t sure if she was ready or not for this kind of relationship. On the other hoof, Lyra and Bon Bon are both two amazing mares and she would be lying if she said they didn’t make her blush. She could experience one of the best relationships a pony could hope for, not to mention she could meet her partners for life. If things didn’t work out though, she would at least have some experience for the future. She decided she would say yes. “I will,” said Twilight. “Really? That’s great!” said Lyra gleefully. “Is tomorrow at eight pm OK?” Twilight smiled. “Yes it is, I am looking forward to it.” Twilight was finally happy. She saw a future filled with love ahead of her... Author's Note Another short story featuring one of my favourite shipps, I hope you enjoyed. Tell me what you think about it in the comments.
