"Alright, slow down."
"Just show me already, I can't stand waiting!"
"Foals these days..."
"I heard that! Now hurry up and show me!"
"Just give me a second... Okay... Open your eyes..."
"Oh my gosh! This is the best thing anyone has given me! Thank you!"
"Just remember, whenever you wear this... think of me."
"Of course! You've been super nice to me lately... Did I do something good?"
"Yes you did... Yes... You did..."
"Wait, don't get sad. Cause if you get sad I get sad..."
"Be a good filly, alright?"
"You gotta go don't you...?"
"Live a good life Sunset..."
"Wait... it sounds like you're going for good..."
"..."
"Wait, where are you going? Come back..."
"....Goodbye, we'll see each other again... hopefully..."
"Alright... Goodbye… Uh… Moonlight?”
“Yes?”
“Can… Can I wear it now?”
“...Yes… Yes you can.”
“Yay!”
Sunset’s eyes blinked opened. She turned to see the moon still out, and she had gotten up a few minutes before her alarm.
After sitting up and stretching she got up off her bed and unplugged her clock. Not wanting to deal with turning it off later on. She rubbed her eyes as she went up to her drawer to get some clothes for the day, when she would open it she would hear something slide against the wood.
There in the drawer was a necklace with a crescent moon, and she would look at it for a short period of time before grabbing her clothes and closing it.
After showering, Sunset grabbed a drink from the fridge and sat at the table. She still had a period of time before her ride would show up, so she simply drank from the can and waited. Her mind tried to force her to remember the necklace, but she would ignore it by taking another swig.
Sunset caught a glimpse of the time, and got up from the chair. She put her leather jacket on and walked out the front door.
The view of a pink mustang put a smile on her face.
Pinkie rolled down the window and waved. “Goodmorning Sunset, ready for school?”
Sunset had entered through the passenger side and nodded. “Yes, yes I am.”
With that, Pinkie began driving to their destination. CHS, still the same old building. The same people, the same posters, and just a little hint of happiness resting inside the school.
Sunset was used to the environment after being here for so long, it was almost like her real home.
After walking through school next to Pinkie, she would meet up with the rest of her friends. Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash.
Their hangout was a little band room, the place where they practiced a lot.
And just like any other day, they talked, practiced, and overall just had fun with what time they had before school would start.
But this conversation went a little… off.
“Hey guys, I have something to tell you.” Applejack started. As the gang opened their ears to her, she said something that made the group gasp. “Caramel asked me out.”
Sunset; however, simply turned her head as she was confused by the sudden conversation. It started to get a little worse.
“Oh really? Wait… What’s that mean?” Pinkie questioned.
“It’s where a man wants to take a girl out on the town. Good for you Applejack.” Rarity gave a smile as she patted Applejack on the shoulder.
Pinkie started thinking. “Is that what Cheese wanted to do?”
Rainbow Dash laughed. “You got asked out by Cheese? The class clown?”
Sunset simply sat there, scratching the back of her head as she waited for this conversation to disappear. But they kept talking about it, Twilight, Rainbow, Fluttershy, and Rarity soon admitted they were asked out too. Before long they had turned to Sunset who was now standing from her seat.
“Did you get asked out by anyone dear?” Rarity asked.
Sunet shook her head, indicating she had not and that’s when the room fell silent.
“Oh… Sorry for going off the rocks there.” Applejack said.
“Don’t, it’s okay. You guys got dates and that’s very awesome of you guys.” Sunset smiled. “You don’t have to worry about me, I had my chance at a relationship and I screwed it up. I guess a little alone time would be a good thing for me.”
Rarity had walked up and smiled. “There’s nothing wrong with having a little fling every now and again, you should try finding a someone.”
Sunset started to blush. “No, it’s okay. I’m fine.”
“Lunchtime, I’m going to point out a man and you are going to start a conversation with him.” Rarity said.
“What do I say?” Sunset asked.
“Anything really, guys usually swoon when a girl actually talks to them.” Rarity smirked.
“I seriously doubt that, but it’s worth a shot.” Sunset said before smiling. “Thanks I guess.”
As class got started, what Rarity had said had itched at Sunset. She started thinking of simple conversation starters, she could just try to avoid it but she knows Rarity will just drag her back. The entire time in class she just started thinking.
Time would pass and it was soon lunchtime, just like a normal lunch day. But it was one thing that Sunset wasn’t prepared for, as much as it would make her feel nervous. She was going to have to do it anyway, so she was stuck with the fact.
Sunset sat down at the table with her friends and Rarity sat across from her. “Alright, are you ready?”
“No.” Sunset said, but what she said was ignored.
Rarity started to look around the cafeteria and set her eyes a very handsome pale skinned man sitting at a table alone. “Handsome looking fellow, sitting alone.”
Sunset turned to see the man who was simply playing with his food. “Oh jeez.” Sunset covered her face in embarrassment from what she was about to do.
“You can do it, I believe in you.” Rarity smiled.
Applejack put a hand on Sunset’s shoulder. “All you have to do is talk, that’s it.”
With a deep breath, Sunset stood up from her seat and started walking. With many things passing through her head as to what to say, to do, or to simply run. But once she was in front of him she cleared her throat to get his attention.
The man scratched his black hair and looked up to her. Sunset noticed his familiar red eyes and smiled. “Hi.”
The man simply froze before standing with a confused expression.
Sunset jumped when he got up. “Um, what’s your name.”
The man tilted his head and smiled. He then looked to her chest and frowned. “Is it you…?” He muttered.
Sunset walked around the table to him. “Do I know you?”
The man shook his head. “No, no you don’t. I’m Mo-” He coughed and smiled a little. “I’m Night.”
“It’s nice to meet you Night, I’m Sunset Shimmer.” She held out a hand.
Night looked at it and put his hand to connect the hand shake. “Nice to meet you.”
Sunset smiled. “Let’s talk later okay?”
“Sure.” After their handshake was over, Sunset walked back to her table.
While Night watched her leave, he let his smile fade and he sat down.
Sunset sat down and sighed. “That was extremely awkward.”
Rarity was still looking at Night with a frown. “Do you know him?”
With a shrug, Sunset said. “Not really.”
“He seemed happy to see you, then devastated. What happened?” Rarity asked.
After explaining what went down, Rarity had nodded. “He knows you. It’s kind of obvious.”
“He’s a perv from what I saw.” Rainbow butted in. “Did you see him stare at her chest?”
“I did.” Rarity said. “But it only made him sad.”
“I out to kick his behind.” Rainbow crossed her arms.
Twilight coughed suddenly and she shook her head. “From what I saw, and a few observations. I have a feeling he mistook you for someone else.”
Sunset tilted her head. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, when he saw you he looked puzzled. Like he was trying to remember where you were from, but when he looked at your chest it seemed he realized his mistake.” Twilight explained. “You’re still wearing the necklace we got from Camp Everfree right?”
Sunset turned to the man and nodded her head. “I am.” She said, reaching in her shirt and pulling it out.
Twilight pondered and then shrugged. “Don’t worry about it then, he mistook you for someone else.”
Sunset nodded to herself, before sighing and starting to eat her food.
“This is a beautiful necklace… Who gave you this?”
“My friend gave it to me! He’s always been super nice to me… He told me, if I were ever to wear it I should remember him.”
“Sunset…”
“And he’s been gone since then, it’s only been a few weeks but I know he’ll be back!”
“My student, I don’t thin-”
“Don’t tell me he’s not real Celestia! He is real!”
“He’s not coming back.”
“...What?”
“He is gone… I’m afraid…”
“No… don’t lie to me… He’ll come back, I know it!”
“I’m sorry, but I don’t think he’ll come back for you.”
“You don’t know that!”
“Sunset! Wait! Oh…”
Night opened his eyes after having them been closed. “I told you I’d be back… Sunny…”
“Moonlight always comes back.”
