Author's Note

-Note from the writer: This story was conceived and written from the perspective of being only a few episodes into Season 5. I am currently VERY behind in terms of watching the show, though if I do catch up and add things from the show and include them I will make note of it. ALSO, parts of the setting are derived from notes/statements concerning unused (to my knowledge) ideas from the original creation.

Introduction

Looking out from where he stood, Callixis Steelwing watched the lights slowly appear around the distant city of Canterlot. The old city had stood for centuries, its towers, spires, even it's walls, carved out of the mountain itself, giving it a fortress-like appearance, an odd design choice for the capital of the most peaceful of the worlds races. Though, it's origin as a remote outpost probably contributed to it's design.

Of course, it was hardly his place to judge them on such things, considering how much more aggressive dragons were by comparison. Now, however, was not a time for these thoughts on the differing philosophy’s. He yawned and stretched his leathery wings, absently scratching at the old iron ring on his claw. No, now was a time for finding a cave or some other safe place for the night to rest in. Tomorrow he'd reach the city, to finally have a few days respite...
