Jasmine collapsed upon the couch with a groan. Her clothes were disheveled, with her shirt only half tucked into her black skirt. The upper half of the shirt was unbuttoned, revealing the crimson bra underneath. Her hair was done up in a ponytail, although it was in the process of coming undone with random strands poking free.
Kicking off her shoes, she moaned happily as her feet were freed from their respective prisons. She peeled off her socks as well, crumpling them up into a ball before tossing them over to the shoes. With that, she leaned back and wiggled her toes, trying to get feeling back into the numb appendages.
She had been on her feet all day, and it was glorious to finally be able to sit.
Throwing an arm over her face, she groaned again, only this time drawing out the noise to express just how much she actually meant it. After a few seconds, a mare popped her head in through the kitchen door.
“That bad, huh?” the mare asked.
Jasmine tilted her head back, giving her housemate an upside-down bemused look over the back of the couch. “You have no idea.” Her hair came loose from her ponytail, falling to hang inches from the floor.
The mare chuckled before stepping into the living room. She was a light green earth pony with a shaggy coat, especially around her fetlocks. Her two-tone orange mane was done up in dreadlocks, as was her tail. A yellow bandana with white flowers was wrapped about her head. Her cutie mark was a tree with its foliage arranged in the shape of a heart.
The mare walked around the couch and hopped up beside Jasmine, settling herself down on the worn cushions.
“You wanna, like, talk about it?” she asked, a mellow smile on her face.
Jasmine was quiet for several seconds, her face expressionless, before suddenly collapsing against the back of the couch again.
“Oh, Tree Hugger, it was horrible,” she whined softly, closing her eyes. “Terrible. Disastrous. Whoever thought it up needs to be banished to the moon. It couldn’t have gotten any worse.”
This just caused Tree Hugger to laugh. “Oh, come on, Jaz. It couldn’t have been that bad. Weren’t you, like, just volunteering for Cheerilee at the school’s job fair?”
“Yes, and it was awful,” came the reply.
“Like… how could a job fair for foals be awful?”
“Well, it started off fine,” Jasmine said, opening her eyes and staring up at the ceiling. “It was actually kind of adorable, watching all those foals running around with excitement in their eyes. Even when the job didn’t pertain to their cutie mark, they were still interested in hearing about everything.”
“That sounds radical,” Tree Hugger said. “So, like, what went wrong?”
Jasmine tsked. “Ah, but you forget. The Cutie Mark Crusaders are in Cheerilee’s class.”
Tree Hugger blinked before forming a small ‘o’ with her lips.
“Ah, that makes sense now,” she said. “So, that means that…”
“That they tried to get their cutie marks in every possible way today,” Jasmine finished with a sigh. “That in and of itself wasn’t what made it bad. They were actually manageable in the beginning. No, the horror came when they got impatient.” She groaned, and covered her face with her hands. “They started combining all the jobs together, to cover all the options as fast as possible.”
“I don’t know,” Tree Hugger hummed, rubbing her chin. “That actually sounds… kinda righteous.”
“Oh, what do you know?” Jasmine grunted. She dragged her hands down her face before giving her housemate a bemused look. “You weren’t there. You didn’t see them load a bunch of envelopes into Pinkie’s party cannon in an effort to deliver them faster. Papercuts for everyone! And then there was that abomination they created trying to mix firefighting with fireworks and the joke shop,” she continued. “Fire extinguishers that spewed fire and sparks! Why they thought that was a good idea was beyond me.”
“Oh,” Tree Hugger said, her ears splaying back. “Yeah, that doesn’t sound so righteous.”
Jasmine sighed heavily.
“They’re good fillies who can do amazing things,” she said, “and their hearts are in the right place, but they just don’t think! They don’t use common sense.”
“Oh, well… at least it’s over?” Tree Hugger says hopefully.
“No, it’s not,” Jasmine whined. “I have to go back tomorrow and help clean up the destruction. Burnt tables and displays. Broken windows. It’s gonna take hours!”
Tree Hugger’s ears splayed back. “O-oh… well, um…” She paused, before brightening up. “At least you’re home now, right?”
“I guess,” Jasmine sighed, calming down.
Silence fell over the room as the pair just sat there, staring out the bay window in front of them. The house was located on the outskirts of Ponyville, and allowed for a nice view of a nearby park and pathway. Off in the distance, the marketplace was just barely visible over a small flowering hill.
Jasmine had always liked the view, as it allowed her to watch the ponies go about their daily lives. Ever since she moved in with Tree Hugger, she’d spend an hour or so each day, just watching the passing ponies, trying to pick up their culture and mannerisms. So far, it had helped improve the locals’ disposition towards her, especially after her, uh… rocky start upon suddenly arriving in Equestria.
...it probably didn’t help that she was dazed and confused shortly after she arrived and tried to ride all the magical ponies. After that, most of them steered clear of her. The only ponies that would even consider interacting with her were Fluttershy, Lyra, Flitter, and, of course, her now-housemate, Tree Hugger.
In fact, Tree Hugger had been her first visitor while in the hospital (Applejack had not taken kindly to being ridden), something about liking the way Jasmine’s ‘aura’ felt. She visited almost every day, even if said visits were just the pair of them sitting in silence, enjoying the view from the room’s window. When Jasmine was finally released from the hospital (after being cleared by both the doctors and Princess Luna herself), Tree Hugger had offered to let the human move in with her. The two had lived together for a few months now, Jasmine picking up odd jobs here and there while Tree Hugger worked in a tea shop, of all things. They worked pretty much all week, but sometimes they’d just take a day off, sit on the couch, and relax silently with one another.
Like right now.
After sitting in silence for several minutes, Tree Hugger finally gave Jasmine a sideways look.
“So, uh… you wanna, like, go out and get something to eat?” she asked tentatively.
“Nuh…” Jasmine mumbled wearily, still staring out the window.
“Oh… okay…” Returning her gaze back to window, Tree Hugger was quiet for a few seconds before glancing back over at Jasmine again. “You, uh… wanna go to the park and hang out? Feed some ducks?”
“Nah…”
“Um… okay…”
“...”
“You wanna go see a movie?”
“N—wait, what’s playing?”
“I… I don’t know, actually.”
“Then no,” Jasmine sighed. “I don’t really want to go out tonight. I just feel like staying in… and relaxing… and shoving my face full of ice cream.”
“Oh…” Tree Hugger’s ears splayed off to the side, and she blinked before glancing back out of the bay window. Outside, ponies trotted about, most of them heading home from work. The sky was tinted a deep, luscious orange as the sun began to sink towards the horizon.
Both housemates just sat there, watching the world go by for a few more long, silent minutes.
Tree Hugger bit her bottom lip before glancing sideways at Jasmine once more.
“You, uh… wanna have sex?” she asked.
“Fuck yes!” Jasmine exploded, causing the mare to jump. “I thought you’d never ask!”
Tree Hugger blinked in surprise, giving the human a bewildered look. “Wait, what?”

Getting up off the couch, she hurried to the bathroom. Once there, she turned the water on in the bathtub, adjusted the temperature to what she wanted, and then plugged the drain. With that complete, she returned to the couch.
“Come here, you,” she growled, and ignoring Tree Hugger’s confused protests, she scooped the mare up in her arms. Holding her breath, Jasmine quickly carried her back to the bathroom, pulling the bandana off Tree’s head as she went.
“W-what are you doing?” Tree Hugger asked. “I thought we were going to…” She trailed off, staring down at the tub in confusion.
“Oh, we are,” Jasmine said, “But first… ” Holding the mare over the bathtub, she paused for just a moment before dropping the pony in. “...you need a good bath.” Tree Hugger spluttered and coughed, flailing about in confusion. Her floundering sent water over the rim of the bath, but Jasmine didn’t really care. She could clean that up later. For now, she had work to do.
She waited until the water level was at the perfect depth before turning off the faucet.
