Canterlot Has Fallen

Previous Chapter

As I brought in the changeling, I ha noticed that the changeling was odd. Its intelligence was higher than any other warrior they had brought in the previous years. It's strong chitin gave off a warrior feel, but its intellect was that of a nurse. Its chitin was stained red with blood, so I had thought it was crazy. That thought was only hardened with the changeling's crazed ramblings. It said things along the lines of 'Chrysalis is dead' and 'the hive has collapsed.

"Shut up back there, you damn changeling," my father yelled back to the changeling. This seemed to work as the changeling shut up and started mumbling to himself. I hoped he would shut up entirely, but if he didn't then I hoped Celestia or one of the medical ponies had a spell to shut him up or mute him temporarily. His crazed ramblings were going to drive me to the brink of insanity.

As we neared Canterlot, the changeling decided to take a nap and paced out. I looked back at his cage and thanked the heavens. We landed peacefully on the cobbled landing area for prisoners and got out of the harnesses holding us to the cage. I walked over and poked the changeling very softly as to not give him a heart attack. He awoke and backed into the corner of the cage while hissing at me. I laughed at his pathetic attempt to seem intimidating.

"Quit playing with the changeling and get over and help me with the cart," I looked over to see a cart that also held a cage in the back. I also saw three ponies of the royal guard come over and talk to my father. "Storm, come here."

"What is it, dad," I asked him as I walked over to him.

"Celestia wants you to go to Ponyville and check on Princess Twilight Sparkle," he told me, which made my heart jump into my throat. I had never met Princess Twilight Sparkle, even though I had always wanted to meet her.

"Okay, dad," I told him as I followed the one unicorn guard, earth pony guard and, the one pegasi guard to the royal guard quarters.

"Okay, kid, all your going to be doing is checking up on the princess and giving her this letter," the one pegasi guard said.

"Why don't you just send it via her dragon," I asked.

"Her dragon has fallen ill and isn't receiving our letters," she told me, while I grabbed the note from her hoof. We got to the chariots and loaded up for the flight from Canterlot to Ponyville. The other pegasi guard got into the harness, the unicorn cast a shield over the chariot and the earth pony sat with his spear next to him, I also noticed the two other chariots with more guards, mostly unicorns and earth ponies. I got strapped in and got ready to fly.

"What's with the other guards," I asked.

"Since we are delivering a top secret, that only the princesses should know about then we have to have extra defense around you," she told me. I stared back at her while still giving a questioning look. "What I mean is we have to defend you with our lives if we lose that file or you then we have failed our mission, but our new mission would be to deliver that message anyway we see fit."

"Okay, so we need the extra defense as a backup delivery pony," I said while looking dumbfounded. "Cool." We took off from the landing pad and flew to Ponyville.

2 hours later, 30 minutes till fall of Ponyville, 1 hour till fall of Canterlot, 15 minutes until Princess Twilight Sparkle falls

We were approaching the town quickly, but it looked deserted, which wasn't normal for the rapidly expanding town. When I first arrived in Canterlot, Ponyville was barely the size of Appleloosa, but now it was almost bigger than Manehattan.

We landed on the ground, and within a minute were on our way to Twilight's castle. I would have been jumping with anxiety and joy to finally meet the princess, but I was too confused as to why nopony was out at 6:00 pm. I was in the center of a group of guards, consisting of four unicorns, six pegasi, and eight earth ponies and then me. We were less than a block away from the castle, and I hoped we would be there in less than 10 minutes, but at the speed we were moving it would be about 15.

We saw few ponies on the streets, but they didn't pay us any attention. After a tedious 20 minutes later we made it to the princess's castle. I knocked on the giant, wooden doors that looked if they had been crystallized. After nopony answered I tried pushing the door open and was surprised when the door opened. I heard what sounded like moans, that were deep and filled with hunger and anguish. I slowly walked in with two unicorns to the left and right of me, and six pegasi above me. I made my way slowly through the castle checking over my shoulder at the group every few minutes.

"Where is her room," I asked Snowball, the pegasus guard that came and asked for my help with this task.

"We take a right, then it should be five or so doors down," she said as we walked. We turned right and faced a more beautiful hallway then the rest. I slowly walked up to the slightly ajar doors. I looked in and saw the most disturbing sight I had ever seen. I saw the princess tearing and chewing at a dragon's neck, swallowing whatever meat she could manage to get from his scaly skin. "Princess, are you alright?"

"Snowball, I don't think that's a good idea," one of the unicorns told her while backing away from the room. I looked into the room again and saw the princess staring back at me. Her eyes were bloodshot and bleeding, and her iris had a black to the original color. I backed away from the door and Snowball pushed her way in front of me. She opened the door all the way and hugged the princess, only to get her throat ripped out by the princess. Snowball was forced to the ground and eaten in front of us all. I looked back at the door to see the dragon, his eyes also being bloodshot, sprinted at one of the unicorns that were to focused on the princess to noticed his waiting demise. The rest of the group ran from the building. I ran with an earth pony guard and a unicorn and split up from the rest of the group.

"Can you teleport us back to the castle," I asked the unicorn guard, who only nodded and lit his horn and teleported the separated groups back to the castle. When my vision came back to me I realized we were right in front of Celestia's room. I knocked and heard Celestia say come in from the other side of the wooden door. I walked in and saw Celestia staring out her window. Her room was painted a warm golden glow that was getting cast through the window. I walked over to see parts of Canterlot burning and the same things that the princess had turned into. "Celestia, princess Twilight Sparkle is dead, and I could not deliver my letter."

"I figured as much, I sent you when I felt a connection between me and her break," she told me. "What state was she in when you saw her?"

"She was eating her dragon ma'am, then she attacked Snowball, then the dragon attacked one of the unicorns," I told her. "Ma'am, may I ask what is going on?"

"Storm, go with your father and get into a cell, with a unicorn guard, and whatever you do don't leave that cell," she told me, at this point, she was crying. I left my room and grabbed the unicorn guard that had saved the group, and left to go find my father. I left the castle and went to my house, where my father lived with me and my mother. I galloped to my small apartment and quickly unlocked the door. I went inside and backed right back outside.

"Why didn't you go in," the unicorn asked. I opened the door to show him the festering corpse of my mother eating the carcass of my father. "Oh."

"Teleport us to the Canterlot dungeons," I told him and before I could blink we were in the Canterlot dungeons. I ran down the halls of the dungeon, looking for one pony in particular. I was looking for the changeling.
