Pegasus was troubled. 'I've never sensed darkness like this before. Or the fact that there's more than one. One is from this world. But the other, I've never felt anything like it. I have faith in Burst Stream that he and his friends will triumph. But they may need some extra help. ' "Send in Goldenrise."
"You wanted to see me dad?"
"Yes. I want you to assist Burst Stream against the coming threat."
"I've wondered what it would be like to fight alongside the latest duel champion. Looks like my monsters and I will get that chance now." As he went to board his plane, Gold's monster partner materialized. Number 104: Masquerade.
"Master Gold. You seem to be excited to meet this 'Burst Stream'. May I ask why?"
"He's a duelist that could possibly beat even Yugi Moto. Not to mention he won dad's tournament AND Battle City. And at both tournaments he's saved the world. This guy's one of the strongest duelists there is! Also I can't wait to challenge him!"
"Then may the heart of the cards guide us master.", Masquerade said with a small bow.
"Yeah. If this threat dad sensed is a bad enough to send me in to help Burst, I've got the feeling we're going to need the heart of the cards."

Saturday. The day Burst loved most of all out of the week. Especially after last night. 'My first kiss was from the woman I love. Speaking of her. I wonder if Celestia wants to head to the movies? Maybe we'll get a quick duel in too! ', Burst thought to himself as he got dressed and texted Celestia. Burst got a reply saying she was free at about noon. "Well, I guess I could go to the duel park." After breakfast, Burst got his deck and duel disk and headed off to the duel park. On his way, he accidentally bumped into a girl. "Oh man. Sorry about that! You alright?", Burst asked. The girl had black skin and dark blue hair. But the thing that stood out most was the brilliant shade of turquoise her eyes were. Nightmare Moon couldn't believe she had run into Burst! Only yesterday she had entered his dreams. She knew that they would meet again, but didn't expect to see him again this soon.
"I'm fine. Nothing broken. Hey,you're a duelist aren't you?", Nightmare asked noticing Burst's duel disk.
"Yeah! I am! You looking for the duel park? I know where it is so I can take you there. I'm headed there myself.", Burst said with a smile.
'This is an excellent chance to see just how strong he really is! ', Nightmare thought to herself. "Thank you! I'd like that."
"No problem! My name's Burst Stream by the way. What's yours?"
"Beat me in a duel and I'll tell you.", Nightmare said with a smirk.
"Challenge accepted.", Burst said with a smirk of his own. Soon the two of them arrived at the duel park and began their duel. "Ladies first."
Burst: 8000 Nightmare: 8000
"You're quite the charmer. I summon Darkness Knight in attack mode! Then I'll equip him with Lunar Saber to boost his attack by 300 points! Your move!"
"Alright! I draw! I reveal one Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to special summon Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon! Next I play Dragon Shrine to send a normal dragon type monster to the graveyard! And since it was a normal dragon, I can send another dragon to the graveyard! Then I'll play Return of the Dragon Lords to revive the Dragon Spirit of White in my graveyard! Now that he's been summoned I can banish one spell or trap card you control! So I'll banish your equip spell! Dragon Spirit will attack your monster and Blue Eyes Alternative attacks you directly! White Lightning! I end my turn." Nightmare was soon struck with a blast of light from Blue Eyes Alternative!
Burst: 8000 Nightmare: 5000
"Not a bad start! But the duel's not over until the last card is drawn! I can special summon this monster when I have a dark monster on my field or in my graveyard! Rise! Night Queen Nyx!" Soon, a humanoid monster wearing what looked like armor fused with a dress came onto the field. "Now for her effect! When she's summoned she gains 300 attack for each dark monster in my graveyard! Now I play Lightning Vortex! By discarding one card I destroy all monsters on your field!"
"Not so fast! I banish Return of the Dragon Lords from my graveyard to protect my monsters!"
"Good. But not good enough! I attack your Dragon Spirit of White! Night Spear Slash!" Nightmare's monster charged forth and destroyed Dragon Spirit of white in one slash! "That's it for my turn."
Burst: 7200 Nightmare: 5000
"Time for me to strike back! I activate Alternative's effect! I can target and destroy one monster you control!" Blue Eyes Alternative summoned a lightning bolt that struck Night Queen Nyx, but when the dust cleared she was still standing! "Whoa. Guess there's more to your monster than I thought."
"Thanks for noticing. Nyx can't be destroyed by card effects! The only way to best her is in battle!"
"Thanks for the advice. I'll switch my dragon into defense mode and end my turn."
"My move. I equip Nyx with Moon Lance! This boosts her attack by 800 points and lets her inflict piercing damage when she destroys a defense mode monster! Take down his Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon!" Burst winced as he took piercing damage from the attack! "That's all for my turn."
Burst: 5600 Nightmare: 5000
"Well, it looks like I've got no choice. You've shown me your ace, so I'll show you mine! I play Cards of Consonance to discard White Stone of Legend to draw two new cards! And by Stone's effect, I can add a Blue Eyes White Dragon from my deck to my hand! Then I'll play one of the cards I drew from Cards of Consonance! Harmony Absolute! I'll send the Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to the graveyard to summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon from my deck! And since he's on the field, he gains 300 attack for each monster in my graveyard! There's five monsters in my graveyard, so he gains 1500 attack points! Go! Absolute Neutron Blast!"
"Time to light up this duel!", Blue Eyes roared as he fired his signature attack! When the blast hit, Nyx was gone from the field!
"I end my turn."
Burst: 5600 Nightmare: 2800
"So this is your best monster? Impressive! But let's see how good he is against card effects! I play Dark Hole to wipe-out the field!" Soon dark hole appeared and tried to suck in Blue Eyes Absolute! But it failed and faded out from the field! "Just how strong is that thing?", Nightmare asked in disbelief.
"He's called Absolute for a reason. He's immune to card effects. And since you've got no monsters, you're wide open! Let's finish this Blue Eyes!"
"Absolute Neutron Blast!", Burst and Blue Eyes shouted together! And with a flash of rainbow colored light, the duel was over.
Burst: 5600, win Nightmare: lose
"That was a good duel. You got in quite the hit on me.", Burst said with a smile.
Nightmare smiled in kind. "Thanks. This was my first loss. I guess I should tell you my name now. It's Nightshade."
"Nice to meet you Nightshade. Hope to see you again!", Burst said as he waved goodbye.
'Sooner than you think Burst Stream. ', Nightmare thought to herself with a smile. 'You're even stronger than I thought. No wonder the elements gave you some of their power. Considering how strong your connection is to them, he must be quite good friends with them from the magic I sensed. And that's not including the power he has from his bond with his dragons. Maybe I should enroll in his school. It could give me the edge in my plans. Maybe even find out how to get Burst to like me. '
Later on...
"Hi Celestia!", Burst greeted his girlfriend. "So which movie looks good?"
"The one that really catches my eye is this new superhero movie. They made it based on the Elemental Hero cards."
"Sounds fun! I'm a big fan of the E-Hero comics that Industrial Illusions makes! I knew they'd get a movie soon!" And with that, they went in to enjoy the movie. Once they were in the theater, Burst noticed Flash wearing an Elemental Heroes T-shirt. After catching up, Burst went back to Celestia and they found their seats. As the movie started, Burst and Celestia smiled at each other and shared a kiss while the trailers rolled.
One epic viewing later...
"That was even better than The Avengers!", Celestia said.
"Yeah! And I loved how they teased a movies for Neos after the credits!", Burst said. "Want me to fly you home?"
"I'd love that. So are you going to summon Blue Eyes?"
"Who said anything about him?", Burst said as he summoned his dragon wings. "Hold on tight."
"That shouldn't be hard.", Celestia said with a smile as she held onto Burst as he flew her home. "Thanks for the ride."
"No problem. See you on Monday." Celestia gave him a goodbye kiss, and Burst headed back home. 'Ah. A perfect day. Things are only going to get better from now!

Duel 2: New Friends, New Threats
The weekend had come and gone, and Burst and the rest of his friends were going about their school day. Everything was normal until Burst saw Rainbow Dash running in his direction.
"Burst! Some guy just showed up and wants to see you!"
"Might as well see what he wants." When Burst went to meet this perosn, he saw Goldenrise waiting for him.
"Are you Burst Stream?"
"That's me. Who are you? And why did you call me out?"
"My name is Goldenrise. I'm the adopted son of Maximillion Pegasus. He sent me to aid you because he sensed a new threat on the horizon. But before I join up with you, I wanna see if your skills stack up to the rumors! So how about it?"
Burst smiled as he activated his duel disk. "Bring it on! You've got the first move!"
Burst: 8000 Goldenrise: 8000
"I summon Ancient Elf! Now I can special summon the two Kagetokage because I normal summoned a level 4 monster! Now I overlay all my monsters to xyz summon Number 104: Masquerade! That's it for my turn. Your move!", Goldenrise said.
"I draw!", Burst said. "I play Trade-In to discard a level 8 monster and draw two new cards! Then I'll summon a monster in defense mode and end my turn."
"Masquerade! Attack his defense mode monster! That's all for me."
"Just what I was hoping for! Since the monster you destroyed was White Stone of Ancients, I can special summon a Blue Eyes monster from my deck! Next I'll reveal the Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to special summon Blue Eyes Alternative! Then I'll use Alternative's effect! I can destroy one monster you control!"
"I don't think so! I detach one overlay unit from Masquerade to use his effect! I can negate your effect's activation and inflict 800 damage to you! Also, I can send the top card of your deck to the graveyard once per turn."
Burst: 7200 Goldenrise: 8000
"Not a bad effect. Now to bring out my own number! I overlay my two dragons and xyz summon Number 107: Galaxy Eyes Tachyon Dragon! Destroy number 104! Tachyon Stream!" Tachyon Dragon roared as he fired a powerful laser from his mouth that destroyed Masquerade!
Burst: 7200 Goldenrise: 7700
"So you managed to destroy my ace monster. I set one card face-down and end my turn."
"I draw! I play the Melody of Awakening Dragon! By discarding one card, I can add up to two dragon type monsters with 3000 or more attack and 2500 or less defense from my deck to my hand! Then I'll play the spell card Harmony Absolute! I'll send the Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to the graveyard to summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! And now that he's on the field, he gains 300 attack for each monster in my graveyard! Attack him directly! Absolute Neutron Blast!"
Burst: 7200 Goldenrise: 2100
"No wonder you've become champion so easily! That dragon of yours is powerful! But as much as I'd like to sit and admire it, I've got a duel to fight! I activate my trap card! Xyz reborn to bring back Masquerade! Now I play the field spell Xyz Territory! When an xyz monster battles, it gains 200 attack points times its rank, but only during damage calculation! Attack Galaxy Eyes Tachyon Dragon!"
"Don't forget that your field spell helps me too! Galaxy Eyes also gains 200 attack times his rank! So your monster still gets taken down!"
"A good effort Masquerade!", Galaxy Eyes Tachyon said. "But not enough to overpower me!" Masquerade was destroyed by a single strike from Galaxy Eyes Tachyon's tail.
Burst: 7200 Goldenrise: 1000
"I guess I got so carried away that I forgot you had an xyz monster too.", Gold said with a nervous chuckle.
"Hey. I've made my share of mistakes when I duel too. But enough about that. Blue Eyes Absolute attacks you directly for game!"
Burst: 7200, win Goldenrise: lose
"The rumors don't even measure up to your skills!", Gold said. "You're even better than people say you are!"
"Thanks. You and your monster partner are pretty good too. So how did you plan on helping me fight whatever evil force I need to take down this time?"
"Easy. I'm dueling alongside you!"
"Glad to hear it! I've gotta get going to my next class soon, so I'll see you around." As Burst was heading to his class, he saw Nightshade walking the hallway. "Hey Nightshade! I didn't know you went to CHS. You need help getting to your classes?"
"Oh. I just enrolled. And the next class I have is English with Ms. Cheerilee.", Nightmare said. 'Thankfully Celestia didn't expect a thing! '
"Well for starters, you're kinda going the wrong way. That's my next class. Follow me and we should reach it in no time."
"Thanks.", Nightmare said with a smile. 'Cute and a nice guy. No wonder Celestia was his literal dream girl.
Meanwhile...
Dark Ice was spying on Ace. Seeing if he could find anything or anyone in specific that he could take from Ace. And by chance, he saw him walking with Sonata. "I see. Now I know how to hurt you Ace! This time I will not fail! Vengeance shall be mine! And I'll start by paying your girlfriend a vist! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Ace couldn't believe what had happened. He received Dark Ice's note that he had kidnapped Sonata. And the only way to save her was to duel him! 'Ice! You've gone too far this time! If it's the last thing I do, I'm getting Sonata back! ', Ace thought to himself. Sunset and the others noticed Ace's mood and went to see what was wrong. He told them about Dark Ice and how he had kidnapped Sonata!
"That creep! That's it! I say all of us take him on at once!", Rainbow Dash said.
"You guys can come with. But this is my battle. Not yours. I have to face him myself!", Ace said.
"I'm definitely going Ace.", Burst said. "If your brother is a s bad as you say, the monster he's bonded with must be even worse. I won't interfere with your duel, but I will jump in if things get dicey. OK?"
"Alright. But only when things get that bad!" And with that, the group left to confront Dark Ice where he was holding Sonata. Meanwhile, Ice and Nightmare Moon were making their own preparations.
"You did well in taking Ace's girlfriend Dark Ice. Tell me, have you tried brainwashing her with your darkness powers?"
A wicked smile crossed Ice's face. "You intend to have her duel Ace don't you? This is even better than I hoped! Ace will have to fight the very girl he loves!" Dark Ice had a cruel smile on his face as he used his dark power to create a dark aura around Sonata that allowed him to manipulate her. Soon, he sensed that Ace was near. "That was fast. Now to sit back and enjoy the show!"
When the group arrived, Ace called out his brother! "Ice! I know you're here! Face me! Or are you scared I'll beat you again?!"
"Well, well. You made it! But you won't be dueling me Ace! I've arranged for you to duel a...special opponent! And here she comes now! I'm sure you recognize her!" Ace's heart sunk as he saw who Dark Ice was talking about. In front of him was Sonata, and she was surrounded by some sort of dark aura! "Do like what I've done? As long as that aura is around her, she's my puppet! The only way to free her is if she remembers a strong memory, or if you defeat her. Of course, you're better off forfeiting now if you don't want to risk hurting her!"
Burst was furious! "You scum! Do you have no honor?! Face him yourself coward!" As he turned his attention to Burst, Dark Ice actually felt afraid! He sensed the immense power that lied within him!
"Sorry! But I'm all out of honor! Now, let the show begin!"
Ace: 8000 Sonata: 8000
"I've got the first move!", Ace said. "I summon Gagaga Girl in attack mode! Then I'll set one card face-down and end my turn."
Sonata drew a card, but her voice was distorted from the mind control. "I summon Jellyfish in attack mode. Destroy Gagaga Girl!"
"I activate my trap! Magic Cylinder! This inflicts your monster's attack points as damage to you and negates its attack!"
Ace: 8000 Sonata: 6800
"I draw! I play cost down to discard one card and lower the levels of all monsters in my hand by two! Now I summon Dark Magician Girl! Both of my spell casters attack! Dark Magician Girl destroys Jellyfish! And Gagaga Girl attacks you directly!" Both magicians fired blasts of magic! One destroyed Jellyfish while the other struck Sonata directly!
Ace: 8000 Sonata: 5000
"I draw! I summon Gagagigo and now I can special summon Kagetokage from my hand since Gagagigo was level 4! Now I overlay my monsters to xyz summon Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark! I also play Aqua Jet to boost his attack by 1000 points Now I'll attack and activate his effect! By detaching one overlay unit, all monsters you control lose 1000 attack until the end of this turn! Destroy Gagaga Girl!" With one swipe, Gagaga Girl was destroyed!
Ace: 4400 Sonata: 5000
"One more attack like that and I'm done for! Sonata, please! Remember us! Whenever we dueled, you always had a bright smile! Please remeber! Fight this control!" Upon hearing Ace's words, Sonata clutched her head as Dark Ice's control started to fade away.
"Nnnhhh! A-Ace? What're we doing here? And why are we dueling?"
"My brother decided to pay you a visit. He used mind control on you, and had you duel against me. I'm just glad you're back to your old self again!"
Dark Ice scowled! His plan had been ruined in record time! Summoning his dark powers he prepared to fire a blast of darkness that would destroy everyone there! That is, until Burst Stream cut him off with a blast of his own! "Hadoken!". "AAgghhh!", Ice howled as the blast hit him! "You've not seen the last of me!", he growled as he teleported back to Nightmare Moon. When he approached her, she slapped him!
"What were you about to do?!"
"I was going to destroy my brother once and for all! Maybe even get rid of future threat from that Burst Stream guy! I sensed how strong he was! He could easily destroy either of us! What's wrong with that?!"
"I may want eternal night for this world, but I will not stain my rule with destruction. I will defeat the elements, but I WILL NOT destroy them. And if you pull another stunt like that, I will end you myself! Are. We. Clear?"
"Grrr.....crystal.", Ice growled as he left. "But know that if you bring eternal night, this world will be dead anyway."
"What are you talking about?"
"Without the sun's light, nothing would grow and everything would wither away. I was just going to spare them the agony of a slow demise.", Dark Ice said with a sneer, leaving Nightmare to her thoughts.
"Would...would I have really doomed Equestria to such a fate? Was I really so blind to the consequences of my actions? Is this why I was banished?", Nightmare thought out loud. And then the realization hit her. Tears streamed down her face as the truth hit her full force. "Celestia saw this! She knew it would happen! And all I did was try to destroy her! I caused Luna so much pain!" Nightmare continued to cry as she began to accept the harsh facts she hadn't cared to consider. "Luna...", she said thinking back to Equestria. "I'm sorry!"

Duel 5: Settle the Score!
"Forget Nightmare's orders! I'm going to destroy Ace myself! I've been waiting for this moment, and I will not be denied my vengeance!", Dark Ice snarled as he sent a message to Ace: We finish this now! Ace was getting Sonata home when he received the message. Before he left, he was stopped by Sonata.
"Ace...give him one from me!"
"You've got it.", Ace said as he went to settle the score with his brother. But before he could face Dark Ice, Burst stopped him. "Burst. Don't stop me. This is my battle."
"Ace, you know you can't face him alone. I'm going with you like it or not. Ice has hurt my friends, and I won't let him get away with it. We're ending this together!"
"...Alright. Just don't hold anything back." And with that, the two of them went to the location where Dark Ice challenged Ace. When they arrived, Ice was waiting for them.
"So you've brought one of your friends. How nice! Both of you can meet oblivion together! But it's the both of you against me. How about I make this more fair?", Dark Ice said as he used his dark powers to bring Dark Mist to life! "Mist will handle your friend! Let's finish this Ace!"
Dark Ice: 8000 Ace: 8000
"I'll take the first move! I play Double Summon to bring out two Giant Germs! Now I overlay them to xyz summon Number 96: Dark Mist! Soon you shall feel true pain! I set a card face-down and end my turn."
"I draw! I summon Skilled Dark Magician! Now I play Magical Dimension and tribute him to special summon Dark Magician Girl! Also, I can destroy one monster on your field! I choose Dark Mist! Dark Magician Girl, attack him directly! Dark Burning!" Dark Magician Girl fired a blast of magic that struck Dark Ice directly! "Next I set a card face-down and end my turn."
Dark Ice: 6000 Ace: 8000
Dark Mist: 8000 Burst: 8000
"I shall go first.", Dark Mist said. " I summon 8-Claws Scorpion. And since I control a dark monster, I can special summon Caligo Claw Crow! Now I overlay my two monsters to xyz summon a copy of myself! Now I play Rank-Up Magic: Barian's Force! Now by using my copy as xyz material, I xyz summon Number C96: Dark Storm! Your move weakling."
"I draw!", Burst said. "I reveal one Blue Eyes White Dragon to special summon Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon! Attack Dark Storm! White Lightning! Aghh!", Burst winced in pain and took a look at his life points. "How did I take damage?"
"One of Dark Storm's effects. Any battle damage done to me is also done to you."
Dark Mist: 6000 Burst: 6000
Dark Ice: 6000 Ace: 8000
"I activate my trap Xyz Reborn! This revives Dark Mist! Next I play Rank-Up-Magic Quick Chaos to xyz summon Dark Storm! Now I'll detach one overlay unit to make DMG's attack points zero and give them to Dark Storm! Attack!"
"Not gonna happen! I activate my trap! Negate Attack! Now Dark Magician Girl is safe! Next I'll put an equip spell on her and call it a turn."
Dark Ice: 6000 Ace: 8000
Dark Mist: 6000 Burst: 6000
"My move. I detach one overlay from Dark Storm to make your monster's attack zero and now Dark Storm gains it! Destroy Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon! Dark Oblivion!"
"Nggh!", Burst grunted as he took damage. Soon his eyes turned dragonic and he summoned his wings! "Time to end this! I activate the spell card Harmony Absolute! I'll banish Blue Eyes Alternative from my graveyard since he counts as a Blue Eyes White Dragon when he's on the field or the grave to summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! Next I play Dragon Shrine to send a normal dragon monster from my deck to the graveyard! And since the dragon was normal, I can send another dragon to the graveyard from my deck! Now Absolute's effect activates! He gains 300 attack for each monster in my graveyard! Attack with Absolute Neutron Blast!"
"Fool! You've sealed your own doom! I detach another overlay unit to activate Dark Storm's effect! Steal his strength! What?!" Dark Mist was shocked when Dark Storm couldn't absorb Blue Eyes's strength and was destroyed! "Auugghh! How is this possible?!"
"One of Blue Eyes Absolute's effects. He's unaffected by card effects! Meaning you can't steal his strength coward! Also since your effect deals damage, thanks to Blue Eyes Absolute it increases my life points instead!"
Dark Mist: 1400 Burst: 6600
Dark Ice: 6000 Ace: 8000
"I'll avoid attacking your magician since I've got a good feeling on what that equip spell is and hand things over to you. Nice try Ace, but I won't fall for your bait!"
"I don't need you to! I drew the card I needed to! I play the Eye of Timaeus! I fuse it with Dark Magician Girl to fusion summon Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight!", Ace said as his eyes turned dragonic like the eyes of Timaeus and sprouted identical wings to the dragon DMG was riding! "Now I discard one card to destroy one face-up card on your field! I choose Dark Storm! Attack him directly! Dragon Knight Slash!" DMG and her dragon flew right at Dark Ice and slashed at him directly!
Dark Ice: 3400 Ace: 8000
Dark Mist: 1400 Burst: 6600
"Your monster is impressive. But it's attack points will be useless in damaging me while I summon this monster in defense mode!"
"Oh how wrong you are! Blue Eyes Absolute can inflict piercing damage if he destroys a defense mode monster! Finish this Blue Eyes! Absolute Neutron Blast!"
"Your evil ends here Dark Mist!", Blue Eyes roared as he struck down Dark Mist's last line of defense!
"NOOOOOO!!", Dark Mist screamed as he disintegrated into nothing!
Dark Mist: lose Burst: 6600, win
Dark Ice: 3400 Ace: 8000
"Dark Mist defeated? It can't be! And I haven't landed a single attack on you yet! No matter! I can still get Dark Mist back! I summon Infernity Beetle! Next I'll play Card Destruction to destroy both of our hands! Now I activate Beetle's effect! I tribute him to special summon two more copies of Infernity Beetle from my deck! Now I overlay them to xyz summon Dark Mist! Then I'll play Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force to xyz summon Dark Storm! Attack his dragon knight!"
"I don't think so! I play Enemy Controller to change Dark Storm into defense mode!"
"No!"
"Now I'm ending this! This last attack is for Sonata! I discard one card to destroy your face-up monster! I also play the spell card Ego-Boost to give DMG Dragon Knight 1000 extra attack points! End this! Dark Magic Dragon Blaze!" Dark Magician Girl fired a blast of magic from her sword while Timaeus launched a gigantic fireball that struck Dark Ice head-on!
"No..no...NO! This can't be possible! How...could ...I..looosssseee?!", Dark Ice screamed as he faded away!

"It's over.", Ace said exhausted. "A hug from Sonata is going to feel pretty good after this."
"I think you've earned it after this. I think we're lucky that school was a half-day today. That should answer the audience's questions."
"What was that last part again Burst?"
"Nothing important man." The two headed to see if Sonata was doing any better and told her how they defeated Dark Ice. Ace wound up getting a kiss from her. "What a day. My bed is going to feel so good after this.", Burst said as he headed home.

Duel 6: Loving a Nightmare
"Hmm. That darkness dad sensed is close.", Goldenrise said. "And now I believe I've found the source." Gold had come upon Nightmare Moon. She had stopped crying, but now was just sitting and trying to figure out what to do next. Should she continue her plans for eternal night, or abandon them and try to live a new life? "Something on your mind?"
Nightmare was startled! "Who are you?"
"My name is Goldenrise. But call me Gold for short. By the looks of that darkness power aura around you, you're not from this world. Are you? Who are you really and why are you here?"
"Nightmare Moon. I first came here to bring about eternal night. But upon hearing the possible consequences of what my actions could bring about, I'm not sure what I want to do anymore. But why am I telling you this? It's not like you can relate to me."
"No. I can't. But I can tell you this. What ever happened in the past doesn't have to be the path you stick to. Make your own way."
"....Thank you.", Nightmare said as she left. 'I guess I should head back to Burst's house. He's probably wondering where I am. ' When she arrived, Burst was pretty happy to see her.
"Hey Nightshade! How'd your day go?"
"OK."
"I guess mine could have been better. Ace and I teamed up to take down his evil brother. It was a pretty intense duel. All I know is that my bed is going to feel pretty good after today."
'They beat Dark Ice! That's a relief. ', Nightmare thought with a small smile. As the day drew to a close, Nightmare couldn't sleep. Oddly enough, she was having nightmares herself. About being banished to the moon, and about what would have happened if she had won and the consequences that would bring. Through it all, she began to cry, and woke up Burst in the process.
"Nightshade! Nightshade!", Burst called to her as he woke her up. "You alright? You sounded like you were having the worst nightmare possible."
"I was."
"Do you wanna....talk about it?"
"There's something I should tell you first. Burst, I'm not from this world. And...Nightshade isn't my real name."
"I know you're not from around here."
"What?! How did you know?"
"Another perk of my dragonic powers is that I can pick up on energy signatures. And yours looks like it came from Equestria. So, tell me who you really are."
"My real name is Nightmare Moon. In Equestria, I was brought to life by Luna's jealousy of Celestia and tried to bring eternal night. I was defeated by the elements of harmony and banished to the moon for a thousand years. After that one thousand years, I managed to escape, but was defeated by the new bearers of the elements. Luna was seperated from me, and I was basically nothing but a pile of magical mist. That is, until you came to Equestria. You left a good amount of residual magic behind, and I used it before I crossed over to this world. At first, I wanted to continue my plans for eternal night. I even sided with Dark Ice. But after he was first defeated, he told me what would happen should I succeed. That the world would wither away without any light. And it would be all my fault. It also dawned on me that this was why I was banished. And because of me that Luna was caused so much pain! I don't want to be feared or hated anymore! I don't want to be alone!" Nightmare was almost on the verge of tears until she felt Burst wrap his arms around her. "You probably hate me don't you? For not telling you. For what Dark Ice did. I wouldn't blame you."
"Nightmare...I don't hate you."
"You...you don't?"
"No. I don't. Whatever you tried to do in the past doesn't apply to here. This is a chance for you to start over. And to not be alone. You've already got me. And I'm sure the rest of my friends will get to like you too.", Burst said with a gentle smile. "As long as I'm here, you never have to be alone."
"Burst...could I sleep with you tonight? And could you not call me Nightmare? Could you...call me Moon instead?"
"Sure...Moon. With the dreams you've been having, I'd say you're better off not sleeping alone." With that, the two of them headed to Burst's room. After Burst fell asleep he was facing Nightmare. She hesitated on getting closer to him. Then she remembered what Burst had said earlier. As she wrapped her arms around Burst, a feeling of safety came over her.
'He's so warm. I feel....safe around him. He was right. I don't feel alone anymore. ', Nightmare thought to herself with a smile as she drifted off to sleep. And for the rest of the night, she had pleasant dreams for a change.

Burst stirred as he woke up. But before he could move, he noticed Moon was holding him in a very....intimate position. 'I almost kinda feel bad having to wake her up. ', Burst thought to himself. "Wakey, wakey sleeping beauty."
"Mmmmm. Good morning Burst!", Moon said with a smile. "That was some of the best sleep I've ever had. I guess today you're going to introduce me to the rest of your friends?"
"Yeah. No better place to start. They're some of the nicest people I know. So don't worry!"
"If you say so.", Nightmare said with a nervous smile as they headed to school. Burst caught his friends in front of the school and decided there was no better time to introduce Moon to them than now.
"Hey everyone! I've got a new friend for you to meet. This is Nightmare Moon. But she prefers to be called Moon. She's been staying with me for the past couple of days."
"H-hello.", Moon said nervously. "Sorry if I'm a bit timid. It's not exactly easy to make friends with a name like mine." Applejack was the first to walk up to her.
"If Burst says you're okay, that's enought for me! Welcome to our group sugarcube!"
"Pleased to meet you darling! By the way, that's a lovely outift you have!", Rarity said
"You're pretty nice for someone with such a scary name Moon.", Fluttershy said.
"I think her name's cool! So you a duelist too?", Rainbow asked noticing Moon's deck box.
"Yes I am. Burst here was my first opponent.", Moon said with a small smile.
"Burst. You are a chick magnet.", Inferno said with a joking smile. "Just hope Celestia's not the jealous type!"
"Come on Inferno! Not cool!"
"I'm gonna have to start on your welcome party! BRB!", Pinkie said.
"Is she always like that?", Moon asked Burst. "Yup. and we wouldn't have her any other way. Anyway, we'd better head in before the bell rings. I was hoping to introduce you to everyone, but it looks like we'll have to wait until lunch." Burst said as they headed inside. Meanwhile, Sunset was hitting it off with Golden Rise.
"So Pegasus is your adopted father? You've probably gotten all the best cards of every booster pack!"
"Yeah. But my favorite card is one that he made especially for me. Crimson Dragon. And its got a really good effect too! Maybe I'll show it off to you."
"Is this your cover for asking me out?", Sunset asked slyly.
"Nothing gets by you does it? How about after school today? Say at the duel park?"
"It's a date.", Sunset said as she walked off. As she headed to class, Sunset caught Pinkie dashing back and forth with different party supplies. "Hey Pinkie! I'm guessing you're throwing a welcome party for someone?"
"Uh-huh! Burst's new friend Nightmare Moon! But she likes to be called Moon because the first part of her name sounds scary but she's really nice! See ya!" Sunset couldn't believe what she just heard. The dark persona of Princess Luna was here. And apparently she was staying with Burst. Only course of action made sense to Sunset as she got out the journal Princess Twilight had given her.
"Dear Princess Twilight. This is an emergency! Nightmare Moon is in the human world! And for some reason Burst is friends with her! Bring Princess Celestia, Luna, bring the whole Royal Guard if you have to!", Sunset said as she wrote. Soon the day went on and lunch period arrived. Sunset went to meet her friends, but froze when she saw Nightmare Moon at the table! And she was talking with all of them! Even Golden Rise was chatting with her! Keeping a cool head, she went over and decided to join the conversation. "Hey everyone! Who's the new girl?"
"Sunset, meet Nightmare Moon. But we just call her Moon instead. She seems to like that better.", Golden Rise said. "I actually met her yesterday. Care to join us?"
"Sure!", Sunset said with an almost forced smile. As they talked, Sunset found it hard to believe that this girl was the same alicorn who tried to bring eternal night. She seemed so nice! 'This is just a trick! I'm sure she has something planned! ' "So Moon. What kind of hobbies do you have?"
"Oh. I love dueling, movies, comics, and video games! How about you?"
"I love a good duel. How about we go at it right now? Just you and me."
"I'm game! Let's duel!"
Sunset: 8000 Moon: 8000
"I've got the first move! I special summon Guardian Eatos from my hand since I have no monsters in my graveyard! Next I equip her with Celestial Sword to boost her by 500 points! Your move!"
"I summon Darkness Knight! Then I'll equip her with Lunar Mirror Shield! Attack Guardian Eatos! Star Sword Slash!"
"You do know my monster has more attack points right?"
"Why do you think I equipped my knight with her shield? If she attacks or is attacked, she gains half of the attack of my opponent's monster!"
"Nngghh!", Sunset winced as she took damage!
Sunset: 6000 Moon: 8000
"Okay. No more holding back! I play Hand Destruction! We both discard two cards and draw two new ones! Now I'll banish the light and dark monsters I just discarded to special summon BLS! Now I'll use his effect to banish your Darkness Knight! Unfortuantely he can't attack after he uses this effect. I end my turn."
"My turn! I draw! Perfect! I discard a card to activate Cost-Down! If I have a dark monster on my field or in my graveyard I can special summon Night Queen Nyx! Now I equip her with Star Saber to boost her by 800 points! Also, she gains 300 attack for each dark monster in my graveyard! Take down BLS! Starlight Slash!"
"Lights out!", Nyx said as she executed a swift strike that took down BLS!
Sunset: 4900 Moon: 8000
"I haven't landed a single hit yet! Better go on the defensive! I set a card face-down and end my turn! Your move!"
"I draw! I play Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your face-down! Now I'll attack you directly with Nyx!"
"Ngh!", Sunset winced as she took the attack full force!
Sunset: 800 Moon: 8000
"I set another card face-down and end my turn."
"I draw. I play the spell card Lunar Rays. This gives my opponent 1500 life points, and lets them special summon a monster in their graveyard. I set one card face-down and end my turn."
Sunset: 2300 Moon: 8000
"Awfully generous of you. Well then, I special summon BLS! Next I'll activate his banishing effect!"
"Oh no you don't! I activate my trap card! Divine Wrath! Since you activated a monster effect, I can discard one card to negate the effect and destroy that monster! Attack her directly for game Nyx!" Nyx fired a blast of magic that struck Sunset directly and she was knocked back by the damage!
Sunset: lose Moon: 8000, win
"That was a good duel Sunset.", Moon said with a smile as she offered to help her up. Sunset was a bit cautious, but accepted her help.
"Thanks.", Sunset said as she got up. "I better get going. See you later." 'I might be wrong about her. But there's only one way to find out. Wait for Twilight to get here and see how things go from there. '
"Well Moon, I think it's safe to say you've made new friends today.", Burst said with a smile.
"Thanks Burst.", Moon said with a smile of her own. Then the loudspeaker went off. "Nightmare Moon. Please report to Principle Celestia's office. " Moon wondered why she was being called as she went to Celestia's office. "You wanted to see me?"
"Yes. It seems I got your name wrong. It's no problem. Just a quick change."
"Oh. Okay. There. And I prefer to be called Moon.", Moon said as she wrote her real name.
"Thank you. I'll notify your teachers about this by e-mail. You're free to go now." And with that, Moon left to meet back up with Burst and the others.
Meanwhile in Equestria....
Twilight was panicking as she showed Princess Celestia and Luna what Sunset had written to her! "What are we going to do?"
"Calm down Twilight. You, my sister and I will go the human world together. So far it seems like Nightmare Moon hasn't been up to trouble. Maybe this is nothing to worry about.", Celestia said calmly.
"Let''s hope so sister. Because if she is up to something, I'll end it myself."
Back in the human world...
Revenge. Ever since he was defeated at Duelist Knigdom, Sombra craved revenge on the one who foiled his plans. 'Burst Stream. If it weren't for you I would be the ruler of earth! And then you stepped forth to oppose me! I was to be a king! And with this new deck, I shall claim my right! ', Sombra thought to himself as he saw an opening back to the human world! He made a break for it, and once he was through he found he had his body back. "Get ready Burst Stream! Soon, King Sombra shall claim his throne!

Duel 8: Introductions and Explanations
The school day had come to an end, and Burst and Nightmare headed home. Their evening was pretty quiet until Sunset text Burst. 'Something's come up. Bring Moon with you. I've already called everyone else. Come as soon as you can. '. "I guess we're needed. Mom. Moon and I are headed out. Sunset needs the both of us for something."
"Make sure to bring your phone!"
"Okay! We won't be gone too long!" The two of them headed to CHS to see just what Sunset wanted to meet with them about. Inferno had flown there with his dragon wings. Oddly enough, Principal Celestia was there too. "So Sunset. Why did you call all of us here?"
"You'll find out right about now.", Sunset said as Princess Celestia, Luna, and Twilight stepped out of the portal to Equestria.
"Hello again Burst Stream.", Princess Celestia greeted.
"Nice to see you again princesses. But why are you here?"
"I will only ask this once Burst.", Luna said bluntly. "Where is Nightmare Moon?" Moon stepped out from behind Burst to face Luna. "Burst. hold still." Luna then used her magic to scan Burst. "There's no enchantment on you. So it seems she hasn't manipulated you." Soon Ace came flying in with Sonata.
"Sorry we're late! I'm guessing these three are from Equestira?", Ace asked noticing the royal garb Princesses Celestia and Luna were wearing.
"Twilight, is that one of the sirens?", Princess Celestia asked.
"Uhhhh...It's a long story."
"And why does he have dragon wings and eyes?", Luna asked pointing to Ace.
"I defeated my evil brother.", Ace said. The three princesses had a look of shock on their faces. "Yeeaahhh. That's a long story too."
"And a story for another time.", Luna said. "My sister, Twilight, Sunset and I would like a word with Nightmare Moon in private." Burst was about to protest, but Moon stopped him.
"Burst. It'll be alright. It's time for me to face what lies ahead." And with that, she left to speak with them. "So. What do you want to know?" Twilight was the first to ask a question.
"How did you manage to survive after being banished by the elements?"
"I almost didn't. I was just a pile of mystical mist until Burst Stream and Inferno came to Equestria. Burst left a good amount of residual magic behind. Enough to create a new body for me when I crossed over to this world through that mirror portal." Luna was the next to ask a question.
"So. Have you tried to bring eternal night to this world as well?", her voice was laced with animosity.
"At first that was my plan. Until I heard from the one I had allied myself told me what would happen as a result. After that, I abandoned the idea altogether. It made me realize how much pain I had caused Celestia. The fate I would have condemned Equestria to. And how much pain I caused to Luna. How much pain I caused you mom."
"What did you call me?"
"Mom. It may sound odd, but I view you as my mother. I was born from your envy of Celestia. And I felt the need to make you happy. To make people love you as they loved Celestia. And all it caused you was pain.", Moon said as her eyes were tearing up. "I-I'm so sorry." Luna was in shock!
"I...I had...no idea you saw me like that.", Luna said in a guilty tone. "It makes me feel bad that I've shown such contempt for you."
"I can't blame you.", Moon said with a sad smile. Celestia was the last one to speak.
"So when did this all change?"
"After I had that realization, I had nightmares. Nightmares about being banished to the moon, and the consequences of what would have happened if I had won and brought eternal night. They were so horrible they made me cry, and I woke up Burst Stream. I told him who I was and what I had done. I thought for sure he would hate me just like anyone else would. But he didn't. He held me close and told me that he didn't care about my past. That I could have a fresh start here. And that as long as I had him, I'd never be alone. He introduced me to his friends, and they all accepted me. For the first time in my life I felt like I wasn't a monster. So do what you will to me. I accept my fate."
"I think we've all come to a decision...", Celestia said with a gentle smile. Soon the five of them appeared before the group.
"What are you going to do with Moon?", Burst asked.
"Your highness. Burst told us about Moon's past and what she did here. But she's a good person when you get to know her! Please don't banish her!", Ace said.
"I agree with them.", Principal Celestia said. "Moon may have done some bad things in her past. But she's making up for it here. She has people who care about her. You wouldn't take that away from her would you?"
Princess Celestia smiled. "Moon will be staying here with all of you. Upon hearing her talk about how you people have changed her, and how you made her feel loved, my sister, Twilight, and I have decided she should stay here. And she mentioned you in specific Burst. She's lucky to have you." At hearing this news, Moon could barely contain her joy as she rushed up to Burst and kissed him! It was unexpected, but not unwelcome.
"Um, Moon? You know I'm already dating my world's Celestia right?"
"I believe we can work something out.", Principal Celestia said as she walked up to Burst. "No reason why we can't share right?"
Moon cracked a smile. "I've got no problem with Burst having more than one girlfriend! What about you Burst?", she asked in a flirty tone.
Burst smiled. "The more the merrier."
"That's it. He is officially the luckiest guy I know if he can have two girlfriends at the same time who are that attractive!", Inferno said with a smile. "Of course they got nothing on Rarity!", he said giving Rarity a wink. Rarity blushed at hearing that.
"I guess that wraps up everything nicely!", Burst said.
"BURST STREAM!", a dark voice howled!
"Oh great. What's going on now?!" Soon a dark mist rolled in and Sombra materialized.
"Vengeance is mine!"

Final Duel: Burst vs Sombra! Round 2!
"I've been waiting for this moment ever since Duelist Kingdom Burst!", Sombra snarled. "I would be the king of this world if you didn't stand against me!"
"Jeez you're a sore loser! Now I have to kick your royal butt a second time.", Burst said with an annoyed look on his face. "Bring it on you royal pain!"
Burst: 8000 Sombra: 8000
"I've got the first move!", Sombra said. "I play Dark Contract with the Gate and Dark Contract with the Swamp King! Dark Contract with the Gate lets me add a D/D monster from my deck to my hand! And Dark Contract with the Swamp King lets me fusion summon a fiend-type fusion monster using monsters from my hand or field as materials! I fusion summon D/D/D Flame King Genghis!"
"My turn then. I draw! Perfect! I play Trade-In to discard a level eight monster and draw two new cards! Then I'll play Dragon Shrine to send a dragon-type monster from my deck to the graveyard! And since it was a normal monster, I get to send another dragon! Now I discard a card and activate the Melody of Awakening Dragon! Now I can add up to two dragons with 3000 or more attack and 2500 or less defense from my deck to my hand! Then I'll reveal the Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to special summon Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon! Then I'll use his effect to destroy Flame King Genghis! I'll set a card and then end my turn."
"My tu-arrghh!", Sombra howled! He then looked at his life points. "How did I lose life points?! You didn't even attack!"
Burst: 8000 Sombra: 6000
"You should know that every contract has a price to pay. And your life points are the payment. Read your card text."
"Hmph!....I HAVE TO PAY 1000 LIFE POINTS EACH OF MY STANDBY PHASES?!", Sombra screamed as he read the contracts.
"You see. This is why we read contracts before signing."
"Silence! So what if I pay a couple life points? I don't care! As long as it brings me close to destroying you! I play another Dark Contract! Forbidden Dark Contract with the Swamp King! This lets me special summon a D/D/D monster from hand in defense mode, but its effects are negated! I choose D/D/D Dragon King Pendragon! Now Dark Contract with the Gate lets me add a D/D monster to my hand! And Dark Contract with the Swamp King lets me fusion summon a D/D/D monster by using monsters from my hand or by banishing monsters from my graveyard! I banish the two monsters in my graveyard to fusion summon another Flame King Genghis! Then I'll use Forbidden Contract's other effect and send two monsters to the graveyard to fusion summon Flame King Genghis! Then i normal summon D/D Lamia and tune her with my first Genghis to synchro summon Gust King Alexander! Then I'll set one card face down and end my turn."
"I draw! Now to end this! Say hello to an old friend Sombra! I play the spell card Harmony Absolute and send the Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand to the graveyard to summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! And now that he's on the field, he gians 300 attack for each monster in my graveyard. That boosts him by 1200 points! I'll use Alternative's effect to destroy Dragon King Pendragon! And I'll attack Genghis with Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! Absolute Neutron Blast!"
"I activate my trap card! Dark Contract with the Witch! I send one D/D monster from my hand to the graveyard to destroy one card on the field! And I choose your Blue Eyes Absolute! Also all fiend-type monsters I control gain 1000 attack during your turn!" Soon a dark lightning bolt struck Blue Eyes, but he was still standing! "WHAT?!"
"Did you forget that Blue Eyes Absolute is unaffected by card effects? Now to take down your Flame King!"
"Aauugghhh!", Sombra howled as he took damage!
Burst: 8000 Sombra: 2800
"I draw! Wait what's happening to me?!"
"Did you forget about how binding your contracts are? Since it's your standby phase, you have to pay 1000 life points for each contract you have. And last I checked, three of them you had to pay 1000 and one you had to pay 2000. Your arrogance has led to your downfall your majesty. ", Burst said with a false bow.
"How did I lose again?!"
"Because you fight for only yourself! But I fight for my friends, and that means I'm never alone! End this Blue Eyes! Absolute Neutron Blast!"
"NNNOOOOOO!!", Sombra screamed!
"Consider yourself dethroned!", Blue Eyes shouted as he fired a blast of energy that obliterated Sombra! When the dust cleared, not even his deck was left.
"Sorry about that interruption. So where were we?"
"Riiigghht about here.", Celestia said as she and Nightmare kissed Burst! "The part where the hero get the girl. Or in this case girls.", she said with a smile.
"Oh yeah."
"You know what comes next right?", Pinkie asked.
"Party time?"
"PARTY TIME!"

To celebrate, Pinkie had gotten everything set up at Sugar Cube Corner. Everyone was having apretty good time. Burst was about to dance with Celestia and Moon when Inferno stopped him.
"Hey Burst! We should do the thing!"
"THAT thing? Here?"
"Yeah! And we should have Ace and Golden join in! Pinkie did set up the machine.", Inferno said with a grin.
"Okay. But you better hope this goes well!", Burst said as he told Ace and Golden Rise what Inferno had planned.
"I say we go for it!", Ace said.
"Sounds like fun to me!", Gold said.
"Well that settles it. Come on." Soon the music that was playing stopped, and Burst, Inferno, Ace, and Gold took the stage with microphones. They put on their song of choice, and sang their hearts out.

"I guess I owe you two a dance?", he asked with a charming smile. And the three of them danced the night away.
Meanwhile, far away...
"So Ace finally beat Dark Ice. I guess that means I don't have to hide any more.", a lone figure said. "Rise Number 46: Dragluon!"
"Is it time to meet your brother already Shadow Thunder?"
"Yeah.", Shadow said as he got on top of Dragluon. "I guess it's time for a family reunion."

As the day was winding down, Burst caught Nightshade while she was heading home. "If you want to hang out again sometime, here's my number!" Nightmare smiled but came to a shocking realization! She had no phone, no house, she didn't have anything!
'Okay! I have to make up a good cover! Maybe he'll buy it! ', Nightmare thought to herself. "Um, Burst? I don't have a phone. Or a place to call home either."
"Don't you have a family?", Burst asked. Nightmare's mind flashed back to when she and Luna were banished to the moon. It would seem weird to her, but she considered Luna her mother. She was created by her envy of Celestia.
"I'm afraid not."
"Well....my house has an extra bed. I can see if my mom is alright with you staying. How does that sound?" Nightmare could barely contain herself as she gave Burst a hug that nearly crushed him!
"Thank You!"
"Glad you're happy. Now could you please release me before I lose all my breath?"
"Sorry! Got a bit carried away there!", Nightmare said with a slight blush. Burst called his mom to see if it would be alright if she could stay for a bit. His mom agreed, so Burst took her home with him.
"Let me know if you need anything.", Burst said. As the day drew to a close, Burst hit the shower and got ready for bed. "Good night Nightshade."

Dark Ice had tracked Sonata to where she lived. "Number 96: Dark Mist!", he cried as he summoned his monster. "Now my vengeance begins!". Inside the house, Sonata was looking over her deck when Jelly fish materialized. And from how he was fidgeting about, it looked like he was scared. "Easy Jellyfish! What's wrong?" She didn't have to wait long for an answer as Dark Mist sprang up from the shadows! "What the heck?! Let me go!", she cried as Dark Mist grabbed her, opened up the window and flew out to Dark Ice. "What do you want with me? And why do you look like Ace?"
