I remember

Whitebolt Quillbreeze is asked to write a report on a recent action to an Intelligence Officer. But she knows more than she's letting on.

Written as a response to an A Level writing challenge, the challenge being to write a story with the title "I remember" in half an hour with no planning allowed. As you can therefore expect, this is most probably crap. Either way, hope you enjoy this, any and all constructive feedback is encouraged.

I remember

The only chapter

The young alicorn tried twisting herself free of the ropes binding her to the post. But nothing.

"So this is it.." she thought bemused. "This is where it all ends..."

The slightly taller changeling moved over to the first post, the pistol in his magical grip moving closer to it's target, a younger pegasus, staring straight ahead, unblinking. It was almost as if she had resigned herself to fate. She smiled over at her fellow captor.

"See you on the other side eh Whitey? Have some whiskey ready once we're there..."

The alicorn nodded, almost dejectedly as she watched the muzzle of the pistol slowly come to rest on the back of the pegasus's head. She tensed herself for the inevitable shot. She looked away as brain matter coated the floor and the body slumped forward, staying upright due to the ropes holding her in place.

The alicorn shook her head, a bundle of papers resting under her wing as she pushed open the door to the office.

"Just tell him what he wants and go. Just tell him what he wants and go. He knows most the incident anyhow."

"Ahh Miss Quillbreeze! Please enter." Came the gruff response from the other side of the door.

The cyclic bolt on the Boys Anti Tank Rifle slid back with ease as a .551 calibre cartridge tumbled out of the chamber, wisps of grey smoke following on behind. She smiled with satisfaction as she heard the cartridge clatter to the ground, kicking up a small trail of dust with it as an unseen enemy hit the ground with a thud.

“Heh, looks like I still got my eye in.” she murmured to herself, pushing the bolt forward as another round made its way into the chamber, ready to deliver another world of pain at over 700mph to some poor soul on the receiving end. She looked down the sights, steadied herself; and fired. The rifle barked angrily and dug into her shoulder as a round hurtled down towards it’s next target, someone who had chosen the wrong moment to poke his head out from behind a tree. She watched as the round thumped into his head with speed, taking grim delight in watching as the head exploded like a watermelon as blood and brain matter splattered the tree. His body tumbled back down to the floor leaving puddles of gore in it's wake.

“Thats it Miss Quillbreeze?” the Intelligence Officer replied, deadpanning at the report that had landed on his desk with a thump. “Whitebolt, I was expecting more than this surely? Or was I being naive?”

“Well what else is there to say sir? Should I make it more simple or should I fill it with more of that impossible-to-translate jargon you all seem so fond of up here?” Came a curt response from the mare standing on the other side of the desk, her short blue and yellow mane catching on the breeze coming from an open window as her piercing green eyes bored straight into the officer. Group Captain Whitebolt Quillbreeze was known across Equestria for her impressive marksmanship and melee skills and had risen through the ranks of the Wonderbolts with ease as her leadership and courage under fire became more noted. A family mare at heart with a tall and slender body, she was easily able to conceal a rod of iron that was always ready to make an appearance; now wasn’t yet one of those times but it soon would be. “So, what else do you want?” she spoke again as her thick Western Equestrian accent invaded the silence of the room.

“Well. Try and see things from my perspective.” the Officer replied almost too calmly, lighting a cigar and taking a deep breath. “We’re sitting here doing Sweet FA when all of a sudden we hear you screaming down the radio that your being attacked by half a battalion of changelings armed with nothing but an Anti Tank rifle and a knife. When we get there, your nowhere to be seen and most of the aforementioned battalion is a pile of bodies with various different stab wounds and bullet holes in them. We then find you two days later cowering up a tree, covered in blood threatening to shoot anyone who goes near you. When we encourage you to get down from the tree, you don't fly down but instead fall out of the tree with most of your feathers now black and covered in burn marks and completely unoperational. So, your going to sit here and tell me what the hell happened or I’m having you court marshalled-“

 “I DON’T HAVE TO TELL YOU ANYTHING!” she interrupted, a look and tone of both fiery anger and burning hatred in her voice. “I TOLD WHAT YOU WANTED TO KNOW AND YOU’VE GOT WHAT YOU WANTED TO KNOW SO WHY DON’T YOU JUST SHUT UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE?!”

“Last round Whitey. Best make the most of it…” White muttered as she loaded one more shot her voice muffled by the muzzle guard across her face. She was surrounded now; outnumbered and outgunned. After this it would be one mare with a knife versus a thousand more with guns. Her signature blue combat armour, complete with the blue battle helmet and leather muzzle guard was scuffed and battered, faint chips of paint beginning to flake off. White steadied herself and aim the next round then squeezed the trigger. click. Nothing happened. “Not now…!” came the frustrated response as she tried again. click. click. click. click. click. Nothing was happening. In anger, she flung the rifle at a tree, watching as it clattered to the floor and pulled out her most infamous tool, a Fairburn Sykes Commando knife. “Well this ought to be fun…” she sighed and prepared to charge headlong into her inevitable doom. A volley of Machine Gun fire whistled past her head and pinged into a tree as she ducked and weaved closer to her agressors, knife between her teeth, hellbent on taking every last one of them with her.

“So Miss Quillbreeze. Do you remember or…?” the officer grumbled as he took another long puff on the cigar.

“Oh don’t worry sir; I remember everything. I’m just taking it with me.” White sighed as tears of both sorrow and anger streamed down her face. "I did my job, and I did it well, it just appears you have your head shoved so far up your rear that you can't see that."

“Whats that supposed to mean-“ he began but then went pale as a face once made of anger, turned to horror as the knife began to rise.

“Oh you’ll see now won't you...” she replied as it rested against her throat. She took a deep breath; and cut...
