It was a sunny spring day in Ponyville. Birds were chirping, flowers were blooming... you get the idea. Even though it was beautiful outside, Twilight Sparkle decided to run her new computer.
She followed the instructions on how to turn on the computer for the first time. After she completed, she opened the Canternet and searched "free antivirus". After scrolling through the options, she clicked on the most interesting one: NavaShield. Even if it was a rogue, she was fooled into downloading it.
After doing that, the rogue automatically ran a scan. It said that her computer was fully protected.
Seven days have passed since Twilight installed NavaShield on her computer. She opened it to do her daily scan, but she was greeted with a loud ticking noise and an ad, urging her to buy the full version for extending her so-called "protection". Twilight looked at the price. Six thousand bits? She only had four thousand bits from her saving. She closed the ad and the computer.
More time has passed since the purple alicorn downloaded the rogue antivirus. She opened the computer to do daily tasks. She got used to the ticking sound and the bugging ad, but this time, it was accompanied by a sound of men laughing.
Weird, Twilight thought. Probably a sound malfunction.
Some seconds later, a looped, high-pitched laugh bursted from the computer's speakers. Twilight had to cover her ears with her hooves in order to stop the sound from breaking her eardrums. She opened the Canternet, but a not-so-friendly site opened, instead of Cantersearch.
What is going on? Wait, I'm just gonna buy this to stop this madness. the princess decided.
She clicked on the "Extend my protection" button and completed information. Then, everything stopped, at least, that's what she thought.
