Chapter Alpha
Food. need food. Hunt, must hunt. good dinner.
Tall not-prey, hunting too. Hunting food. Painful noise Loud noise! Small, fast pain travel quickly, yes.
Pain. Blackness.
Light, humming, This hole. I entered. Obstacle. no see! Help, help, help!
Circles! Pain-bringer. Obstacle? Clear obstacle, see other side. Packmate? Packmate. Me Help You.
Bright, bright, bright! Light? Sun? No, tall not-prey. Tall not-prey? Yes. fellow changed to tall not-prey No. disappeared. Where? Where, where, where, where?
Circles, pain-bringer! Attack!
“Bark Bark! Grrrrrr …” I barked and growled at the thing.
Tall not-prey approach.
“Hey there little guy, come on, it’s okay, come on~. Be a good little coyote. It’s safe! Come on.” Tall not-prey makes non-threatening noises, holds food.
Follow, follow, follow. Follow? Yes.
Circle. Sit in circle. Sat down.
“Have fun in the other world, small coyote,” the tall not-prey made more sounds.
Light, short-time.
Surprise floods my mind.
Brightness. Pain. it hurts. Blackness, stop. Grass? Brighter day.
Grass, bright. Light high in the not-ground, too … pointy? Not bright.
Can stare at orb. Not painful. Why? Is there reason for no pain? New things. What are new things? Must do new things. Language.
What is language? Language. Bark.
“Bark!” I barked, from the sitting position, tired.
Knowledge. Definition. Definition means … a statement of word mean thing.
Knowledge, is my smart. I am smart. Knowledge. It is power. Power? What is power? Sentences. Confuse! Rest …
I fell to the ground and rested in this forest’s unfamiliar territory.
[---/---|------]
I trotted through the forest, leaping over mountains, flying through the air in great bounds through the sky, til I came across, quite a sight.
A flying horse, roughly the size of a large Fawn, but the elongated section of … something, framed the forehead of the creature. But the creature was less defined than the being I call myself of the name I have, of which I am. It is black and blue, with minor white in it’s long-head fur.
“What art thou, creature?” it said to me, as I leaped over mountains, trees, and hills as it followed me.
I continued in silence, and stopped, in a dense forest, with an overgrown path, leading deeper in, with occasional holes, slowly eating away at the pathway.
“What is this place?” the being who invited themselves to my world. To my mind.
I wandered down the pathway, without saying a thing to the creature that had invaded my … Unconscious Mind.
“Why shant thou speak, mongrel!? I know thou can!” the creature screamed at me.
I said one word to the being in a voice I didn’t know I was able to make.
“Leave.” I told it, and with the effects of my voice was the sudden forceful push against the creature’s unconscious form, for it flew through some kind of barrier, and couldn’t get back through the invisible border, of my mind.
Of my soul.
The pathway that of which I walked along, was continuously changing directions. Until I saw the path end in a Ravine roughly the width of my unconscious world.
[------|---/---]
I awoke. My thought … it’s … new. Different. The new me. I agree with the thought of the new me being different. My complex thoughts are confusing, I did not know these things as of the time before my rest, since all I knew then was a few simple words or concepts as they applied to me and my way of life, and used them to describe the things around me … .
This is confusing to my small mind, as I just realised that I am changing from the me that was before encountering that tall not-prey.
I can process complex thought. Well most complex thoughts. Was the ability to think given by the being I saw while sleeping? Or by the event that occurred before the rest I had took?
I don’t know, but I might think later about that visit. I should have asked … what did the creature even look like? I don’t even remember what happened, I just remember that I saw a creature, and then I could process a greater complexity of thoughts, I never originally could, because ideas, concepts and objects only have meaning if the majority of a sapient society speaking that language agrees upon the meaning of a word. Before the visit to this forest, complex thought and definitions should not have been within my capabilities as I had no need for such things. I only knew what hunger was and how to make that hunger go away, to not run into things which rose out of the ground, and that small moving things were food and large moving things were not food. I knew that hunting with my brothers and sisters of my pack made hunting the tall not-prey easier.but some aspects of hunting, were lost to me, but I don’t remember what they were.
A wave of … something hit me and I felt dizzy, as if I had spun in too many circles too quickly and fell over, collapsing onto the ground.
There something me not able knowing. Me can’t think good. No, think not good all.
I scrambled off the ground, Disoriented.
I shook my head.
Think! Why can me no think right?! Find encampment … big word. Me surprise to think big word! I am smart.
I look to my left and right, only to find more forest, and what is to be assumed as an unknown species of tree.
But forward, there was a pathway, made entirely from trampled grass, dirt and small stones, with winding turns and sharp curves.
Follow pathway, I will follow, yes.
I followed the pathway, constantly hearing the annoying sounds of wolves howls, as I trotted along the Flattened Grass Path, as I began calling it.
It was a nice little walk for me, since I never was able to think of greater complex thoughts for myself, before arriving at this place. But I don't seem to remember most of the smaller parts, but the thing bugging me the most, was the inability to understand why I constantly change the way I think, inadvertently, with no control. One moment, I feel great, and can think like one of those … bipedal creatures from my original place, and the next, I feel like crap, and can’t even think too well.
It confuses me so.
I continued the trip, until the sounds of howling came closer. And If I remember correctly, I’m simply prey to wolves, considering my vulnerability, and my body being smaller compared to other similar not-coyotes, as well as being more visible in this environment, since my coat is of … a colour.
Then, at that moment, I had to go and get hungry. And the smell of rabbit, bird, squirrel, bear and a myriad of other scents greeted my sniffer.
I felt hungrier than I usually get and felt the need to grab something as well as get an idea of my surroundings.
Another wave of dizziness hit me as I felt my intelligence decrease.
I whined at the feeling that had just hit me.
Food, get. Hungry. Must get food.
I ran, ran off trail. The path gone, left behind.
Follow scent. Small construct.
Home? Yes. Occupied? Yes. Food? Definitely.
Hunting grounds? Maybe … yes. Mine.
A rabbit hops out of the abode.
Food … .
“Grrr..”I crouch and prepare to jump at the creature, which sniffs the air and runs inside.
I chase after the rabbit. I slam into the wood entrance, and scramble through the little panel on the bottom, barely able to get through and continued chasing the rabbit through rooms full with other creatures.
It was then that a wave of dizziness hit me again.
I sat down.
Thought, broken. Fix, must. Understand, not. The rabbit stopped and looked back. It watched other creatures in room watching me.
I cringe. Pain. Think. Antidote … . Sick Fix? Yes went away. Me better feeling! Think not good. Still broken. Try fix.
Brown creature? Bear? Bear. Wary, he closing in! Back away … .
A sound was heard and the animals ran back behind me. I couldn’t describe the noise, it was definitely high pitched, and kinda … annoying.
Wait a moment. Did that noise just emanate from an unseen creature, that possibly could help me!
I turn around, with a feeling of excitement, only to see another small horse. How will I measure these things?
“Why hello, little dog! How did you get here?” the creature asked.
I don’t know, but it looked of … different ... it didn’t look like the small horses of home. I don’t know how to describe this.
Yellow … it’s yellow. What is yellow? I don’t officially know, all I know is that … I know it’s a colour. That’s all I know.
“It’s okay, little dog, come on, let’s find. your owner.” She seemed calm, considering what just happened. I had just recovered memories of me being omnivorous.
I shake my head from side to side.
“Oh? What might make you not want to go home? You must be really missed, being such a beautiful little dog,” the horse said to me.
I bared my teeth.
“Are they afraid of you?”
I shake my head, frustrated with her lack of understanding what I intended though..
This isn’t working.
A specific thing about this creature disrupted my train of thought and weighed upon my curiosity as the creature’s back, has some things coming out of it, like birds’ … wings. The part of a creature’s body that allows flight.
This was new. A difference between here and home.
Back to now. Why is there a horse with wings standing behind me and asking if I got lost, and if she should help me in trying to find my ‘owers’?
This creature’s stupid.
I walk up to the ... thing and tap at the foreleg, confused why the creature looks like … it’s fake. Like it shouldn’t even exist. But then my vision is clearing and I thought for a moment,
’what did I just see?’
That was an odd thing to see. The horse creature looks similar to me, more detailed, rather than the way she had appeared just moments before, fake.
“No? Then why are you here?” the creature asks me, watching, tilting their head to the… what is direction? They … tilted … left. Left is one of six different directions… up, down, left, right, forwards, backwards.
New. My mind is very convoluting, and these watching creatures, are very condescending. How do I know these words? What do they even mean… Convoluting, something hard to follow, or hard to understand. Condescending, means to be feeling superior, to be a superiority.
How Do I know these things? Wait, I haven’t gotten hit by a wave, yet… does that mean that these creatures, or maybe just this one, is stopping these waves of uncontrollable thought repressing moments?
The Entrance to this Encampment slams open, with a rush of wind, flicking my fur in was i couldn’t at home, as if a gust of wind from a heavy Sky-light Cover.
“Fluttershy! There’s a creature… from another world, here?” The creature was a purple winged and… framed headed creature.
Like the one from my Unawakened state, earlier.
